Once I completed that, I wanted to maintain my cardio program, and joined the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center. I really like this place, for several reasons. I can actually get free memberships at several local gyms through my insurance, but I'd rather pay to go here. It's a more mature crowd, with most people either doing some sort of rehab or physical fitness. It's not a social club or hang out, everyone is serious about what they're doing. I don't have much experience in gyms, but from what I see, they have plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, crossfits, arm ergos, upright and reclining bikes) as well as weight stations with both plate weights and resistance. There are free weights as well and all kinds of support stuff like mats, stretch bands, etc. The place is spotless, with constant cleaning going on, and everyone seems to take the time to wipe their stations down after use. I don't use these areas, but they have beautiful locker rooms, showers, basketball courts and a pool that is half indoor/half outdoor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and available for personal training if you desire. They have tons of classes from spin to balance. Downstairs, there is an advanced weight training room. I go three times a week and always look forward to it. I highly recommend you check them out.

I can't not rave enough about this place!!…read more As a mom of two trying to get back in the gym it feels extremely intimidating, but Henry Mayo does not in the slights make you feel like that at all. I have been coming here for almost a year , 4 days out of the week , every week! I have built strong bonds and a comfort here. I unfortunately left and tried LA Fitness and after 3 days I canceled my membership and went back to Henry Mayo ! It is well worth every penny , especially the kids club! Moms, if you're looking for a SAFE AND CLEAN place to leave your children, so you can take time for you , this is the place !! The absolute best care and kindness they provide is hard to find. I sometimes find them holding my child for the entire hour or falling asleep in their arms !!

The truth is, keeping up at 51 has been a challenge. Up until about three months ago, I was fighting what I call the 'dad bod life'--adding a few pounds here and there, year after year. It's been almost three months since I joined a mind, body, and soul program, and I've started to feel a real sense of community, or a culture if you will, created by the founder, Jason. Just last week, I found myself with walking pneumonia, and I was laid out for a couple of days--I mean, laid out. After looking into B12 shots, liquid IVs, and cryo chambers, I sent Jason a message and asked, 'Does the infrared sauna really work? I'm feeling pretty drained and need a quick solution.' Since my family and I are members (my wife, my 12-year-old son, and me--don't ask me to repeat my age again, lol), he said, 'I'll put you down for an appointment and give you a quick intro.' The rest is history. After two sessions, and just two days later, I was feeling a lot more like myself. Now, this was after already consulting with western medicine--seeing a doctor and taking medication. The infrared sauna helped me regain my strength in just two days. I found myself looking at my wife, saying, 'Can you believe this?' The point is, the infrared sauna doesn't just help flush out impurities--it also brings back your energy. But more importantly, I'm so grateful to Jason for allowing our family to be part of this community! If you're reading this, I highly recommend you get off the couch and message Jason ASAP!"

They're knowledgeable, keep things safe, and still push you to get the most out of the workout. Jessica is super kind, encouraging, and actually remembers people, which you don't see everywhere. She creates a really comfortable, welcoming environment and explains things in a way that makes you feel confident. Robert's classes are always waitlisted and it makes sense. He challenges you without overdoing it and keeps workouts creative, especially with the reformer. Sarah is great too, very positive energy, especially in the mornings. I just wish I could take more of her classes. Walter is also really knowledgeable and just very solid overall. Shoutout to the front desk and management team. Gail, the general manager, is amazing and has been so supportive of my fitness journey. She really makes people feel seen and comfortable. Roberto, the assistant manager, always checks in and remembers details, which makes the gym feel more personal. Dustin is also super helpful anytime I've needed anything. Mark, who I did a trial personal training session with, was really nice and encouraging and made it a great first experience. The smoothie spot inside is also really good, which is a nice bonus. Overall, it's just a really solid gym with people who care. Makes it easy to keep showing up.

Policies are applied inconsistently, and even management appears unsure of the club's own rules. Equipment is outdated and poorly maintained, yet instead of fixing or replacing worn machines, management has made questionable decisions--like removing spaces members actually use and enjoy. Communication is poor, customer concerns are dismissed, and service quality has clearly declined under current management. For a gym that charges monthly fees, the experience does not match expectations. Until management improves, equipment is upgraded, and member feedback is taken seriously, this location is hard to recommend.

The best part of the "new" EOS is that it's only a seven hour drive to the Scottsdale gym and your…read moremembership allows you to work out there as well. If I could describe the Valencia EOS, in three words, it would be "REPAIR IN PROGRESS". In fact, leave your weight belt at home and bring your tool belt instead. I've trained at EOS gyms throughout Arizona and they are always well maintained. When EOS purchased the Valencia Golds Gym I was initially excited. The Gold's Gym needed some serious upgrades and I thought EOS would get after it. Unfortunately, the exact opposite has occurred. The original weight machines from when the gym opened 14 years ago are falling apart. The only thing that's guaranteed to work, is the merchant account debiting your bank account every month. The other day, I walked by four treadmills before I found one that worked. There is one cable crossover machine that has been broken for nearly 6 months. It sits in the middle of the gym with an aging "Repair in Progress" sign. The sign should read "Rest in Peace". It has become the new gym mascot. I think we should give it a name and decorate it for the holidays, because management won't do anything about it. Nicer gyms repair broken equipment immediately, but EOS lets them sit and rot. Meanwhile, the gym hosts never ending membership drives and it's undoubtedly working, because the gym is packed. EOS mailers pour out of my mailbox. I can't imagine how much they're spending on marketing, but sadly, there is nothing left in the budget for maintenance and upgrades. The only notable improvements I've seen are modern business signs on the exterior and pretty So Cal paintings on the walls. If you are an older or advanced trainer avoid this gym at all costs, unless of course you're going to one of the classes, I hear those are OK With the unrelenting crowds due to low membership fees, gym etiquette is marginal. With that said, imagine what wonders await in the men's locker room. You'll have to skillfully navigate through hoards of skinny dudes taking gym selfies. I've photo bombed several of them just walking by minding my own business. Sometimes you're treated to a guy blasting rap music out of his iPhone for everyone's listening pleasure. The adjacent bathrooms are always foul smelling, the sinks / soap dispensers work infrequently and now one of the hand dryers has the ubiquitous "Repair in Progress" sign. Don't buy it, it's false advertising. You'll have to lineup to dry your hands from here on out. After several years of membership at this location, I have decided to join another gym. A few of my friends have already left, and I will follow them. All in all, EOS Valencia isn't that bad of a gym, it's worse.

I wanted to write about it as I feel its good for people to know the kinds of people they may be learning from. While I was there I noticed he kept singling out this one guy and kept giving him a hard time, the guy eventually stopped going. It got uncomfortable to watch at one point. Personally I think Pedro's too immature to be training people, even if he is a black belt. The other coaches tho were the saving grace. I think their names were Alex and Skye? Anyway if they still train there, ask for them. If it wasn't for them I would've given up on learning BJJ cause environment is everything and if someone is giving someone else a hard time for no reason its kinda unpleasant for a guy like me. I gave it two stars cause it had some redeemable qualities. I'll give it 5 stars if I ever hear they canned that clown.
