Overall not too bad on this interstate move (NJ to TN). Crew and supervisor pleasant to work with, competitive price. However, note the following: Packing and moving services were both utilized. Representative came to review primary location of belongings to be moved (approx. 90-95% of the total) and was provided with a detailed video of the remaining items, stored at a different location. Despite this upfront information, (a) the total weight was significantly in excess of the estimated amount, resulting in damage to the transport vehicle and a 2-day delay, and (b) at the secondary location the supervisor informed us that there was insufficient room for everything. He had to be cajoled and convinced into making the extra effort... which proved effective and successful. A number of bookcases were damaged during while handling and required subsequent repair, at our expense. One item was a tool cabinet containing a variety of hand tools, hardware, and the like. The crew's solution to this was to simply wrap and seal the cabinet in plastic, and put it in the truck. By the time it was in place at the destination, we found that the contents were in utter chaos, luckily with minimal breakage. Some softbound oversized books were placed in boxes haphazardly or sloppily, resulting in significant creasing of wide swaths of pages. A few items additional appear to have gone missing (none of particular value) and a small number of items were broken. Overall I would in fact recommend their services, particularly in consideration of the pricing, but I would strongly recommend that if you contact them for packing services that these be closely and carefully supervised. read more

This review is a bit overdue, so I cannot pass on any longer to post a service evaluation on Unwind Moving, their owner Sebastian, his super Office Manager Nadene and their "fast" moving crew. The review is for 4.5 (more on that later) so it was rounded up to 5 stars for Yelp. Ironically, if it wasn't for Yelp's Project quote process, I would have not found this business, so I am thankful for that match! Couple of things made me consider Unwind, one being that Yelp offered a guarantee as Unwind was a business marked with a badge, which made the transaction eligible for coverage up to $2,500. It was like a warranty of sort - and the reviews offered, though small in number, were mostly all positive. My "move" was quite simple, per se. I just needed to remove a french-door refrigerator from a 5x15 storage unit and move it to a location. The tricky part was, it was packed away all the way inside the unit, so most of the items stored needed to be moved out. So during the Project quote process, I specifically wrote these details, hoping for a flat rate type of moving and not an hourly. To my surprise, the first mover I wanted came back with an astronomical quote of over $1300 (for a 3 person at 4 hours minimum) - a cost of a refrigerator! And other quotes were not promising either as they ranged from $1000 to $1800 - just for a refrigerator move! Unwind came with the first flat rate response of $375 - which felt like a steal - with 2 men and 3 hours, which sounded very reasonable! The conversation to process the move with Nadene was exceptional! She was on top of the scheduling, the move negotiation and details, and even getting COI (Certificate of Insurance) within hours of our conversation - nothing but impressive! Nadene was friendly and articulate, was such a pleasure to work with. She went through the details of the move and we made a decision to meet the next evening to complete the work. So why then 4.5 and not a full 5-star rating? Well, there was a hiccup during the moving process that could have been avoided. First, I went an hour ahead of our scheduled time at 5PM on the day of the moving to get started on the removal of the stored boxes to pave the way to the fridge. I had thought we would be done by 6, or 6:30PM latest and not having eaten lunch earlier, I thought I can 'survive' until then. Unfortunately, the prior moving job went over-time. My move kept getting pushed back. First to 6PM. Then to almost 7PM by the time they arrived at the storage. I was not doing well physically while waiting, I was also upset that the time management was not executed well. Nadene was upset also - the previous job did not disclose certain other item that they decided to add while they were already in the moving progress. She apologized for the complication, and this is where they earned my respect - first as a client and second as a small business owner. Nadene informed me that the owner - Sebastian - was unhappy with the outcome of my move because it was substandard for his business. He was now going to join his two men to facilitate a faster move, promising that they will get the work done as efficiently and promptly once they arrived. By the time they arrived, about 1/3 of the storage was out of the unit, they went to work straight away once arrived. Nadene knew of my situation (I attempted to order UberEats as I waited for the team, but the delivery driver got a flat tire on the way, and they cancelled the order!!). She felt awful about it, offered to go pick up something to eat but by this time, I was so exhausted and wanted to get it going so I declined. Nadene showed her concerns throughout the evening. Then as the fridge was finally out of the dungeon that is my storage unit, the team was quick to put all the other items back into the unit. Once they were complete, Sebastian went one step further and made an executive business decision to offer me such an exceptional resolve to make up for all the complications this move had caused. What was offered (not revealing it!) impressed me so much that he promptly won my future moving business. It also succeeded in retaining my word-of-mouth promotions I often offer for products and services (I've done campaigns for Samsung, LG...). Caesar & Wallace were left to deliver the fridge and they patiently moved in the new fridge and even moved the old one to place it in a designated area, as requested. They also took the time to install the water line to the ice maker part of the new fridge, to complete the work in a timely manner. They deserved every bit of the $100 tip they received! Unwind Moving lived up to the positive reviews they have been receiving, the hiccup only becoming a distant memory to the quality of service and Sebastian's business ethics. I recently moved from New York City to Philadelphia, and Unwind Movers made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. Mingo and Brian were incredibly quick and efficient, ensuring that the move was completed in record time. Their careful handling of my belongings, including fragile items, was truly impressive. The team was also exceptionally friendly, not just to me but also to my dog, which made the whole process much more pleasant. A couple of tips: pay in cash to avoid the credit card fee, and be prepared to pay a little more for tape or any other supplies they feel are necessary to secure your stuff. I prefer to spend a bit extra on these supplies rather than risk having something broken--money well spent. I cannot recommend them more, especially if you have really fragile item to move. I had dining table set that was composed with marble and glasses. It was over 10k for dining table alone. I had to find someone who knows how to handle super fragile item, and also knows how to disassemble/assemble. I could not sleep the night before worrying about what if things go south. They handled the job flawlessly despite my concerns! Nothing broke, everything was handled with care and they packed extremely well. The owner was very good communicator from the start to end, COI was provided in a timely fashion when I requested it. I moved with Unwind Moving for the first time on Sep 5th morning. I compared with 5 companies based on Google and Yelp reviews, and Sebastian's reply was by far the best. He sent me a clear and simple estimate for my move and there were nothing tons of phone calls or texts to bother me during the process, which was an advantage of Unwind Moving over other companies. When I used another moving company, it took 4 hours with 3 movers to move my furniture, and all they did was cover my furniture with dirty blankets... But the Unwind Moving Team was different! These guys are so awesome!!! Our move was relatively tricky but they pulled it off absolutely flawlessly. We had two units to move out of & consolidate into one new one...one unit was in Bergen county, the other was in Union, so the move required a lot of driving. One unit was up three flights of very narrow winding stairs which they had no problem navigating, and also didn't charge a fee for that...other companies wanted to charge huge fees just for the stairs alone! I used Unwind Moving and ended up paying 3 times the price I was initially quoted. I was quoted a price of $420 for service from 1-3 to move several pieces of furniture. Nadine knew the specifics of the move before drawing up the contract. She stated Sebastian was fast, the best. The move ended up taking 2 hours longer (of course more money) than quoted. The elevator in the house was damaged by the movers ( the only people to use the elevator during that time). I communicated to Nadine the situation with the elevator and was initially told, sorry to hear, we'll take care of it. I was only to forward her the bill. A month after sending Nadine the invoice for payment and getting no reply, I contacted Unwind only to be told "It's not there problem". Nadine stated they never had a situation like this before (untrue, because I've read past yelp reviews from people stating they have had damage to furniture and broken items when dealing with Unwind) and she was unsure what to do. Because the address of the damaged elevator was not on the COI they would not pay. She read partial information from the invoice as further reason they would not pay (something about 2 screws, but completely left out the part about the elevator floor wall being unhinged). In total, I was left to pay for the extra time of 2 slow movers, and the repairs to the elevator they damaged. That $420 now in excess of $1200 ( and yes, I tipped both movers, foolishly). NEVER AGAIN! Be mindful of the initial low quote read more

I used Unwind Moving for two moves of the same items over the course of a month as I was hopping from unit to storage locker to another unit. As far as efficiency is concerned, the first move went rather well. They did a good job packing the larger fragile items and Sebastian (the owner of the company) charged a fair price at the end of the move for doing so, so I decided to hire them again for the second move to a nearby location. There was a bit of furniture damage from the first move that I neglected to point out to Sebastian until a couple of weeks later, but when I brought it to his attention, he initially said that he talked to his crew and that the mark was from before the move. He indirectly gave me the impression that he thought I was being dishonest. Since I had photographic proof that this wasn't the case, he ultimately took responsibility and compensated me fairly for it on my next move. For personal reasons and the fact that unpacking from a move doesn't happen over night, I've been gradually discovering the full extent of damage done because of his team's careless handling of my items. The first such significant damage was to my speakers which I had wrapped in a thick 1" thick blanket, and put into a fabric suitcase with a rigid frame/walls. Somehow, one of the corners got smashed in, enough so that the veneer ripped (about 1") and the foot at that corner fell off. For that to happen, the suitcase would've had to really been thrown against something, or stacked at the bottom of a lot of other heavy items. He responded professionally and offered to settle on fair compensation which I agreed to. Since then though, I've discovered at least one more broken item (the plastic surface of my rice cooker cracked; this was packed in a cardboard box and in a blanket) and wouldn't be surprised if I find more as I finish unpacking my things. At this point so far out from the move and given the pace of my unpacking, I've just resigned to living with it as I don't want to keep going back and forth with Unwind Moving every time I find something broken. And while his contract does state that there is a weight limit per box of 50lbs and a few of my boxes were over, at least 3/4 of them were at or under the 50lb per container limit. In general Sebastian is courteous, professional and charges a decent rate for a moving service. While he did address all the concerns I communicated to him regarding the damage that I was able to detect right after the move, a number of valuable items were damaged in the process. If you choose to use Unwind Moving, I highly recommend that you watch them as much as possible. read more
