I was very disappointed with the way my move and the subsequent conversations I had with Flat Fee staff about my concerns have gone. I was charged for extra time and when I called to correct the times that the movers were there, I was given a number of excuses and told that nothing would be done. They had me pay before they unloaded but of course, how would they know how long the whole move will take if they insist I sign off before they will unload any of my items? Two of the movers behaved very unprofessionally and when I called to make the company aware, I was basically told that my complaints were not their concern. To clarify- one mover asked me for my phone number and if I was single and when I said no, asked me why, which made me very uncomfortable. Another mover kept trying to get my dog to follow her out in the hallway and making "jokes" about how she could just take him home. I asked her to leave him alone several times and she persisted. I spoke with a supervisor there and he just said that his employees had "their own versions" of what I was saying. I was shocked because as a customer, and one who still tipped generously because I felt it was the right thing to do and they did work hard, to be dismissed this way was very frustrating and upsetting. Ultimately I asked that they not charge me for the second extra half hour, as they had been there less than 3.5 hours and the flat rate is for 3 hours. I was told that they would absolutely not be refunding any part of the over time that I was disputing and the person with whom I spoke laughed when he told me that. It is absurd to me that this company touts being "movers with integrity," when they have such poor and frustrating customer service. If they had simply approached my concerns with anything other than the disdain they appeared to exhibit, I don't know that I would be so frustrated. I would seriously caution anyone from using this service. In addition to these issues, I was repeatedly told on the day of the move that certain items couldn't go on the truck- bags with some clothes and extra bedding, a television, a wrapped box of some cans, etc... I've never had so many restrictions on what could be transported when I've moved in the past. Even my roommate was shocked at what they refused to take. No part of the process backs up their "movers with integrity" assertion. Update: The moving company commented below to attempt to justify their actions. Asking a woman if she is single, then asking for her phone number, and then asking why when told "no" is not professional. My dog was in another room at one point so as to not be underfoot while furniture was being moved. Being told to stop calling a dog to you and continuing to do it is not professional. The "tracking system" he refers to is merely text messages sent back and forth, and it is certainly easy to send a text after a move had concluded. Instead of reaching out to address my concerns and the fact that a customer felt so disrespected that she wrote an online review, they doubled down on their unprofessionalism. I have moved 3 times in the last 3 years. I first used Flat Fee back in 2013 and was very happy and satisfied. They helped me move to a smaller place and they also moved the furniture that didn't fit into our storage. I was so happy with the job they did I knew I would be using them for any other move and recommend them to everyone. The second move I did it myself with some friends since it was in the apartment complex and I had like two weeks period to move in. I wish I knew how hard it is to do a move on my own, before I did it so I would have hired them again....No pizza and beer was worth it! lol Finally I found a house my wife and I loved so we bought it and renovated it. I knew I would be using Flat Fee but wanted to see what prices were being offered out there by other movers: 1. Many movers just lie to you, hourly rates of $79, $80 for 3 movers when you know you need 4 guys, over the phone it sounds like all is included and they never send you the price. If they do send you a quote, there are crazy things in the fine print like: truck fee additional cost and if you want "fumigated blankets" it is extra, like you would really want to have blankets with bed bugs for free!!!! 2. Many others estimated lower amounts of hours than I knew I would need or just 1 truck when I knew I needed two. You don't have to be a mover to know if you used 1 truck to move into the apartment and one for the storage back in 2013 now you will need 2 trucks. Bottom line, I just moved with Flat Fee Moving yesterday and cannot be happier, their estimate was on the dot, the service was white glove and the overall experience was extremely amazing. Do yourself a favor when looking for movers do not choose only based on the "hourly rate", or the cheapest price, look above and behind because moving is stressful enough without having to also deal with an unnecessary financial burden. I have been planing this move for long time. My daughter helped me to find a company and I schedule the move with them. like 3 months prior to my move in August I contacted the comapny I reserved with, and suddenly all waht I was promissed like price, delivery window, etc vanish. The person on the phone was very unpleasant. I decided to go back online and came accross FLAT FEE MOVING (along with so many other). I expalined the situation to the nice lady who answered me and she first advice me to go back to the other comapny and see if they can accomodate the move and still keep what they promissed. She was not pushi and just tried to grab my deposit, that was the frist good sign. After trying to give a second chance to the other comapny I was told that the reason for changing everything was due to the summer being high demand on moving, moving season etc. I tried to get my deposit back but they claim that I booked over 6 months ago, so they cannot do it. I was very frustated and I called Flat Fee Moving, that was a very pleasant conversation, they didnt even took a deposit, I was told "once you feel confortable please call to make the deposit" they made a reservation for me. Needless to say, I book my move with them while I was hesitant beacuse my prior experience. I'm so happy that I choosed Flat Fee Moving, This was the best moving experince ever. We used Flat Fee Moving for our move from a 2-bedroom condo to a house. Start to finish, I am 100% satisfied with the service. Prior to my move, I did a lot of research and I recieved about 6 different quotes from six different companies - all of which was done over the phone. Danny from Flat Fee Moving was the only person I spoke with to ask more detailed questions about the items I own. His additional questions helped determine my actual needs and the cost involved to meet them. On the day of the move, the crew arrived right on time, and ready to work. Cesar did an actual walkthrough with me and was able to point out potential concerns, based on the configuration of my condo and the furniture itself - essentially he covered the details that would be impossible to cover over a phone conversation. He made sure that I was fully informed upfront on anything that might cause delays or additional costs. I truly appreciate his honesty and attention to detail. My wife and I are still amazed at the speed and efficiency of the crew. I had a great experience with Flat Fee. From the first call to unloading the last piece of furniture, they could not have been more accommodative, transparent and courteous. Our move occurred just 2 days ago. It was a two bedroom within town (NJ) and the quote was very competitive. This made us a little nervous because neither we (nor our friends) had ever used Flat Fee before so our buyer-beware radar was working overtime. What sealed the deal was the friendly and courteous treatment we received during the initial phone calls. Daniel and others in the office answered every question, followed up with calls and emails and even went out of their way to adjust the timing of our move (despite scheduling conflicts) to ensure our requirements were met. The movers were fantastic! They turned up a couple of minutes early, consulted with us to ensure they were clear on logistics and were incredibly flexible and accommodating when it came to last-minute changes (like adding furniture to the move and moving boxes to another room). Cesar and his crew were punctual, friendly, professional, careful, transparent, fast and (at times) creative (they had to take the legs off the sectional to fit it in a tight spot). This was a temporary move (for a few months) before we move into our house so I've already booked Flat Fee for our next move in June. It's a shame their rating is skewed by a couple of bad experiences. Flat Fee must have cleaned up their game because those reviews sound like they're aimed at a different company. We recently contacted Flat Fee Moving for a move that we have been waiting to happen for the last 2 years. Finally we bought and renovated our first home and are expecting our first baby. Moving is very stressful to say the leas but since our first conversation with Vanessa at the office I knew this is the company I wanted to hire. They have a professional and friendly approach, everything was explained to me, even the logistic details of the move from packing advise, to were to get free boxes, how to save money on what to pack and have ready. I was not able to pack many things so I was given the option for the movers to help me without breaking my bank account. On the move date, as soon as the movers arrived I was so happy to know that they will make my move so easy. I had no surprises everything was as Vanessa told me. Laura went over all the details with me and her crew (3 very strong guys) started wrapping, packing, taking my beds apart. First of all, I like never write a review, but the experience was so good, I just have too. Just used Flat Fee movers three weeks ago for a move in Saddle Brook, NJ. My wife and I are very satisfied by the professionalism and moving knowledge behind this crew. A date was agreed on for Danny (The owner of the company) to arrive at my home for a guarantee price quote. He arrived on time and he seemed like a very nice guy, a hard working family man that been in the business for many years. Flat Fee requires a home visit to give an exact estimate for moving cost. Finally no more surprises like many other moving companies that slaps on a fees after fees for silly things like bubble wrap cost for every mirror or glass on furniture. After a walkthrough with me pointing out what I would like moved I was quoted very reasonably, slightly below competitors. Now for the actual move. Just awesome! These guys were quick, polite and very careful in not damaging any walls or furniture which included two full and one king size mattress, large table, large stainless steel fridge, a few dressers and tables and many boxes. The unloading went even smother with the beds up on installed frame by the crew and boxes its appropriate rooms. Highly recommended!
