I have been going to Nicole for the past 9 years, namely because she is awesome! She is really creative and can take my vague ideas about having cute hair and turn them into a rocking haircut that always grows out well. She is also a master of color and is excellent at everything from a subtle wash to fierce highlights and hot colors! To top it all off, she also does facial waxing and is excellent at eyebrow shaping. Nicole has been a godsend. I have always had trouble with how dark my hair is to lighten it up without it ending up too brassy or orange. The last girl that I had doing my hair was the only one that was able to get a past the brassy stage but I was having major issues with blisters on my head for a long time and was told that that was normal since I was going so light. I was lucky when I was recommended by a friend to Nicole (after explaining my dilemma and showing her the blisters on my head) and my hair has turned out perfect every time and never any problems with my scalp. I have gone to many stylist over the years and never have had somebody that was so good at what they do. I have never walked away disappointed and would highly recommend her. She is always booked as she has a loyal following and I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels this way about her. She did my daughter-in-law's hair for her wedding and was exactly like the picture she had on her phone. She had super thick hair so it was a lot to work with but she did not let us down. Nicole has been a bit of a hidden treasure in her "hide away" location behind Chevron near Donner Lake. Working in a bright, clean and cozy studio without the typical loud talking gossip bouncing off the walls works well for her and great for me as her client. I appreciate a more laid back and relaxing vibe when having my hair colored and cut. I get enough "action" in my own life. My hair color is blue black, which can fade quickly, yet when Nicole performs her magic my color stays shiny, blue shimmering goodness abounds and lasts 6 weeks, even with daily washing ( I have fine hair and look like I have the flu if it is not washed constantly.) Having very long hair that took me years to grow - it is super important that a "trim" of half an inch is as promised. Never has Nicole cut more hair than originally promised. Gladly looking in the mirror at the end of my appointment is a pleasure - not a reason to cry in the car on the way home. Nicole also has the newest "fad" items like tinsel and feathers, learning the right methods for the newest styles if you want that kind of thing. More than once I have seen her "repair" another stylist shoddy job. Always throwing some humor and fun in to the conversation with the upset client who is getting her hair repaired. That takes class and skills to relax someone in that traumatized position. Nicole is the woman I trust for my lovely locks! read more

I had a terrific experience yesterday, getting my eyebrows waxed with Nicole. I live about fifty miles away and was in Truckee for a job interview; she was able to fit me in last minute, but she didn't make me feel last minute at all. In addition, the shop's got a good atmosphere, and I felt comfortable. Best of all, she did a really nice job on my eyebrows - I'm pretty picky after years of both waxing and threading - and she listened to what I want, used her own eye for balance, and I left happy. I don't trust a lot of people with my hair / eyebrows, but I'd go to Nicole for either. It's SF Bay Area standards and excellence for Tahoe / Truckee prices. :~) read more

5 star is rare, but my wax by Arielle was the best ever. All hair gone, pre-treatment and post-treatment. The last one I had from a Lake Tahoe spa was mediocre at best with unnecessary exposure. After meeting Nicole when I went in for a tan just yesterday, I quickly judged that she was probably an expertly trained stylist. My suspicions were confirmed today...I asked her to replicate a certain men's style, and she not only gave me a quality haircut that I have not had in some time but also fixed the "mess-up" from a past cut. Can't say enough...Truckee is lucky to have a stylist like her. I've been going to Nicole for a few years and hope I never have to find a new hair colorist. She's very good at what she does and she's an expert at blending so there are no harsh lines ever. A couple of times she's gone conservative on the blonde highlights and the reason for that is because I freaked out the first time I went light (I'm a dark brunette) even though it's exactly what I'd asked for and that time she stayed till about 8pm to tone it down for me and I ended up loving it. But on the occasions where I decided I wanted more highlights she did not hesitate to bring me back in to get me to the exact color I wanted and didn't require a separate appointment with a new charge. The other thing I love about her is she always follows through with styling my hair no matter how late it is or even if I say "I'm just going home", she'll always make sure it looks good before I walk out. She never skimps on giving the complete salon experience. Plus, she loves dogs and always lets me bring mine. I know I drive her crazy, but she's stuck with me because I'm a loyal fan of hers! read more
