I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment, and was not even acknowledged, let alone greeted, for about 20 minutes while I waited on the bench next to the front desk. However, two employees did go out of their way to greet the man next to me, with one apologizing for the wait and assuring him she would be with him soon. I was getting close to just walking out because at about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, when someone finally came over and asked for my name. My stylist never introduced herself, so while she was nice enough, I don't even know her name (and she isn't listed on the website, either). I got a simple shampoo & blowout, and during the shampoo she used the hottest water I've had in a salon. She did not ask me if the temperature was okay, if I had a preference, or check in with me at all -- and I'm the kind of person who likes a super hot shower, so I was surprised by how hot the water was even to me (it was fine for me, but I know that is way beyond lots of people's heat tolerance level). I am sure she would have changed the temperature if asked, but never in my life has a stylist just not checked in on that during a wash. The blowout itself really did come out nice, but I was also surprised by how old the salon is. I think me and my stylist were the only people under like 60 years old in there, so it may be more geared towards an elderly demographic. I am glad I got the stylist I did, because I have never felt so disrespected in a hair salon before (by the other staff) and am honestly still in shock with how little regard the employees had for a customer. Some of them were sitting down and waiting for timers, so it's not like no one was available to greet me, either. Not to mention, I had to wait more than 15 minutes after my appointment time to be acknowledged -- it's not asking a lot to simply be informed if they are running behind. Especially since the man next to me was given that courtesy and respect! I would never go back and would not recommend it, despite the fact that my hair did come out nice at the end of the day. It was just such a bad experience overall, though my stylist really did seem sweet (she is the sole reason I gave 2 stars and not 1), unlike the rest of the staff. The salon itself is also tiny, crowded, hot (they seemingly have no A/C and just kept the door open), and not well ventilated. Save your time and money -- there are lots of other great options in town. read more

This place is fabulous My stylist was Marley. She is very friendly and experienced. I got my hair cut and partial highlights for under $200. :) Salon was very clean and all staff was very friendly . Danielle and Shelly make a fantastic wedding beauty squad! I was thrilled with my bridal hair and makeup for the day, they made me look polished without looking like an overdone pageant queen. The makeup felt great and stayed on all day and I even had some 'leftover' eye makeup for the next day. The hair up-do looked beautiful and my style stayed where it needed to be. Some of our family wedding guests also went there for hair and makeup after me and everyone looked great. I found Mane Attraction after combing through every other salon with wedding services in the Truckee area, and they were by far the most reasonably priced. I just could not justify spending $500 for hair and makeup like some of the other places! Their pricing also included a trial & consultation which was extremely helpful and they pretty much nailed the look I wanted on the first try. Not to mention, they are both the sweetest people and the salon is lovely and quaint in downtown area, so was really close to my hotel. I have now been here twice. Last time I came here for a haircut by Alicia which was absolutely amazing. She really listened to what my expectations were and it turned out exactly how I wanted. Today I went to for an eyebrow and eyelash tint by Jan and it was the best I've ever had it done. Usually I'll go to Reno and a lot of color would still be on my skin after (which will obviously go away after a few days) but this time it looked perfect right away. The price was slightly more than what I've been paying in Reno but sooo worth it! I saw Christina for a Brazilian Blow Out and she was AMAZING. The salon is so welcoming and Christina was a pleasure to talk to while she worked. My natural hair is coarse, curly, frizzy and an overall mess. It would take me easily an hour to blow dry straight and then flat iron with every product I could get my hands on... only to start to frizz out a couple of hours later. Since seeing Christina a couple months ago I haven't touched my flat iron once. I simply allow my hair to air dry or speed it up with a quick blow dry and flat brush, 5 minutes max, and it's smooth and straight. I highly recommend seeing her for a Brazilian Blow Out if you have hard to control hair. It's made my mornings and lake days so much easier read more

Christina is my favorite person to ever touch my hair! I work in Tahoe seasonally during the summer and this summer I was returning as a bleach blonde. (Naturally I have dark brown hair). My stylist at home in Portland, OR left me brassy and undertoned. I had pretty massive roots and Christina was able to get me in right away and blew my regular guys job out of the water! Not only is her handy work impeccable but her personality is so sweet and pleasant. I was in Lake Tahoe for a wedding and made an appointment for my daughter and myself at this salon about two weeks before the wedding. They sent me an email confirmation when the appointment was made and the day before the appointment. They took a credit card number at the time the appointment was made and stated that if I was a no show, they would charge my credit card. I completely understood that. My stylist was running a few minutes late, no big deal. My daughter was taken immediately when we arrived. I told the stylist what I wanted. I was attending a wedding and I wanted a nice flowy and "flippy". My daughter's hair looked amazing. Exactly what she wanted. I was done about 5 minutes later (my stylist started my hair about 15 minutes after my orig appointment) and my hair was flat and frizzy. Not straight, just flat. My daughter's hair cost $45. Well worth it and the stylist was so nice and funny and did an amazing job. Me and my daughter both have thick hair, about shoulder length. When I was finished I mentioned that it wasn't at all what I asked for. The stylist basically shrugged her shoulders and then informed me that she is a "freelance" stylist and I have to pay her directly. $75!!!!!! INSANE!!! I said..."seriously?" She said yes, that's my rate. I said I'll pay but my hair looks no different than it did yesterday morning when I did it. That's not why I go to a salon. She said nothing, but when I handed her a 100 dollar bill she said thank you. I said Um, no I want change. She said not sure if I have change. I said I'm sure the salons register does if you do not. I was not happy with my hair, not happy with her attitude when I mentioned I wasn't happy. She was overpriced and not very good. Again, my daughter's hair looked amazing. That is the only reason why I am giving 3 stars otherwise I would have given one star. read more

I made an appointment for me (The mother of the bride) and my mother (the grandmother of the bride in April of 2022 for a September 2022 wedding in Truckee. I called Mane Attraction and they secured our reservation and even had us send a picture of ourselves so that they had an idea of what to do with our hair. I thought that was plenty of time for me to secure a Hair Up Do Appointment for the special wedding day. One week before the wedding I emailed Mane Attraction to confirm the appointment. There was a response saying confirmed. The day before the wedding I received a call from Mane Attraction at 12:00 P.M. that my appointment for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. was cancelled. Truckee is a small town and in the summer the weekends are filled with weddings so another salon was not an option. I can tell you that I was more than upset and absolutely furious with there lack of personal concern for cancelling such an important appointment, On the day of the wedding I received a call From Mane Attraction at 9:00 a.m. asking if I got the message that my appointment had been cancelled I said yes and asked why it was cancelled and at such a late notice and she said that the person that was going to do both of our hair had called in sick. My question then was why don't you secure someone else to do our hair since this was a long standing appointment and she quite simply said that wasn't possible. I then expressed my discontentment and disappointment of their unprofessionalism and lack of customer service and this person simply said "oh WELL So SORRY" in a rude and distasteful manner. My tip to you is don't make any appointment with Mane Attraction if you are counting on them fulfilling their commitment to you and we my family and all of our 200 friends that were at the wedding will NEVER NEVER EVER recommend or refer this establishment. I would absolutely try someone else in the Truckee Area. read more

I had my permanent makeup done by Melody. I had eyebrows and top and bottom eyeliner. A friend recommended Melody for permanent makeup and I am so grateful I went to her. The eyebrows are beautiful and people-even strangers-give me compliments all the time and are surprised when I tell them they are tattooed! They look very natural and the color and shape are gorgeous. The eyeliner is perfect as well. I don't even need to wear mascara. The lines are even and it brings out my eyes. BRIDAL - I am a bit of a perfectionist and I must say I thought I knew exactly what I wanted when it came to my hair and makeup on my wedding day... Needless to say, I showed up with about 30 pictures of a general idea and little bit out of my element. Shelly walked me through each picture and took the best of all of them and gave me more than I could have ever asked for. My makeup was natural but elegant, simple and not too heavy.
