I CANNOT recommend Bruce Maliken's "Up and Running Services" for computer assistance. The issues I came to him for help with, were at a minimum, very basic. It is obvious he is quite knowledgeable about computers; however, he is NOT savvy with people skills and understanding the needs of end-users who are intimidated by technology. He was condescending, patronizing and, at times, came across to me as bored. I picked up on his exasperation over my lack of computer skills and felt within the time I interacted with him that he could hardly wait to finish with me. In trying to correct a Windows problem, I messed up access to my laptop, so that I couldn't start it at all. Bruce Maliken was recommended by contributors to the Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase listservs, so I contacted him. I have been using Bruce Maliken for many many years, like at least 20 if not longer. He is my go to guy when my computer is uncooperative. I wouldn't dream of using anyone else. I rarely write reviews, but in this case, Bruce at UP and RUNNING Computer Services deserves it! I was hacked and someone sent out 100s of emails using on of my email address lists. Bruce was on it immediately late on a Sunday evening. We did a remote sessions where he checked for malware and quarantined suspicious files. By Monday morning, he diagnosed the situation, which as it turned out appeared to be an old hack that just came to light. Bruce also provided some hardware advice along the way.
