You know. I have to hand it to Richard, it took a while but damn did he fix my computer when it had the screen messed up from airport security messing with it. Laptop screens on older models are difficult to source and can be really hard to deal with so I respect that he was able to find the right one and get it fixed. One star off becaude of some glaring communication issues and another off because of how long it took without proper ETA. BUT I'm rounding up to 4 stars besides that because he saved me having to get a new laptop and he was genuinely good about getting it fixed even when I had written it off as a complete loss because the screens he originaly sourced didn't work correctly but he was determined to get the right parts. First of all, let me just say I am a Tech/Nerd guy and I built a brand new PC from scratch back in April. Ever since I built my PC my computer kept randomly restarting. I did everything I could to fix the problem, I tweaked my bios, GPU and software settings based on all the google search I done and to no avail, the problem still persisted. I then started replacing my hardware one by one, upgraded a new GPU, new PSU, new RAM, new Mobo and the problem was still there. I was losing my mind because normally I would fix other people's computers if they needed help and I couldn't figure out why my new PC build was acting funny. My last resort was to call up a PC Repair guy, I always been skeptical about repair shops like Geek Squad and other repair shops because I been a help-desk guy before and all they do is google searches and over-charge on work that could easily be fixed. I was so frustrated because I dumped a lot of money in new hardware, I decided to look on yelp for reputable reviews and came across Rich's website. I requested a quote from Rich through yelp and he responded within an hour and even offered to come by my house to do an estimate. To my surprise Rich showed up early and was a very friendly and outgoing guy, he didn't seem shady as pre-conceived by me at all. Again, I am skeptical about pc repair guys so I tested Rich on his knowledge about my set-up and Rich dived right into my computer and started pointing out stuff to me and explaining things to me in a very simple manner even though he knew I was a tech guy, I appreciated him walking me through step-by-step of his diagnosis. Rich is very genuine and even called me out on a few elite stuff I do that can be harmful to my computer but was not judgemental at all. Rich gave me a very reasonable quote and off he went with my computer to fix my security issues, re-format and re-install my windows, reinstall my new mobo and re-install my PSU platinum 1000w. I didn't really need to do the re-installs but I wanted it done professionally and properly since I am paying for a PC Repair. Within 24 hours, Rich returned with my new pc better than ever. He fixed the security compromise on my computer and my new rig layout was super clean. He even added a thermal pad for my SSD Card and made it super clean. My software was all up-to-date with extra add-ons he installed that really impressed me because he knew what I liked and was able to find the right tools for my computer to stay strong in the future. He really did impress me and now I am happy to say I that I will 100% recommend Rich any day to my friends and family who need a pc fix. I will use Rich again in the future because I have an extra laptop that could use some repair and when I upgrade my new rig to be bigger and better, I told Rich I will call him again. Horrible. I never write reviews but I had to share my experience with Richard so you have a full picture rather than the 5 star visual that I saw. I gave him my computer a month ago he hasn't one texted me about it, I have had to reach out to him multiple times trying to get updates on my computer. I am going to contact the City of Alexandria Department of Consumer Affairs, check on the status of their business license and file a complaint. 10/20/2020 - A disgruntled computer repair person not a patient. He wanted to be paid in advance and then did not finish the work he agreed to do. My fault for paying him most of the money before the work was finished. If he really wanted to resolve the issue, he would return my phone calls, set up an appointment for a service call and complete the work. 10/22/2020 - I contacted Dell, bought a 16GB memory stick, watched a six minute video on YouTube, then upgraded my new computer and finished the installation myself. My laptop charging port broke when I dropped my laptop with the cord plugged into it. Richard was able to replace the port saving me from having to do a total replacement. Can be very convenient, as in he comes to your place and can diagnose problems at home or take the laptop with him and return it the next day. Unfortunately though, Richard was late for both appts we had set up, showing up an hour late for the first one without the right tool to open my laptop (how does that happen??), so we had to reschedule for the next day. Next day he was 3 hours late for the appt with hardly any communication that it would take so long. He took apart my computer relatively quickly and got the gunk out of my fans, but seemed in a rush to be done (it's not my fault he was 3 hours late, I have things to do also). It was a free diagnosis, so that was nice, but he didn't really resolve my full problem and wasn't able to find the right fans for my laptop so I found them myself (fairly easily) for cheap and went to someone else. read more

Richard is the best! Last weekend, my laptop suddenly stopped charging. I took it to GeekSquad and they said they couldn't fix it and would have to send it out, meaning I'd be without a computer for 2-3 weeks. I panicked, because I work from home two days a week and really need my computer. I then called Dell customer service, and they said it would be $150 to send a technician out, plus at least $250 for the part, which I thought was outrageous. A friend suggested I try a local repair shop, so I turned to Yelp for help in finding one. I saw how highly ABC Computers Repair was rated and all the great reviews, and gave Richard a call. He came over right away to pick up my computer, even though it was a Sunday night, and texted me the next day with an estimate and explanation of what was wrong with it. Richard fixed 3 of our Macs that were fixed by another computer repair company, but they continued to have problems. When I initially contacted Richard, I asked him if he could service Macs, which he said he could do, plus it was mentioned in several of his reviews that he worked on Apple products. My iMac had been in storage for 1 year and our 2 Macbooks were all running very slow. Richard came to our house, talked with us at length about the issues we were having and brought them back 3 days later. He would have brought them back sooner, but we weren't home to receive them. He did a great job of getting them to work - they were no longer sluggish, no more spinning rainbow wheel, and much quicker. And no data loss! He was reasonably priced and we were even able to use the Yelp deal he was offering towards our repairs. He does great work at a reasonable price and he's very customer service oriented. My graphics card went bad on my macbook and Richard had to replace my motherboard because the graphics card is attached to the motherboard. When he initially replaced my motherboard it went bad again in a couple of days. So Richard had to order another brand new motherboard for my macbook. Richard placed the order the week before Christmas and because it was the holidays I did not know when I would get my macbook back. I told Richard that I needed to have a working laptop (windows or mac) because I had school and other projects I needed to work on. He understood and gave me his personal macbook pro to use for the 3 weeks I did not have my laptop. I was not expecting him to propose that idea at all. But I took him up on his offer because he honestly told me that he did not know when he would get the new motherboard from the vendor, so therefore he did not want me to be without a laptop. I appreciated Richard's honesty and willingness to put the customer first. This is what great customer service is all about. I am glad I found Richard when my graphics card went bad because he has been nothing short of AMAZING! I wish I could give him 10 stars, but google only lets me give him five haha. I'd been putting off diagnosing what was wrong with my laptop, limping by relying on my smartphone. Richard G. arrived the same day I requested service, quickly diagnosed the problem, and gave me options (including estimates). I decided to replace my old laptop. Richard came back the next day to set up my new laptop and printer and to migrate the data from my external hard drive to the new laptop. He was courteous, professional, efficient, competent, and (very importantly for someone like me who is proficient at using working technology, but can't really troubleshoot when there's a problem) not even the tiniest bit of a know-it-all.
