Absolutely unbelievable experience with Up North Eats! They came to our Air BnB for a bachelorette weekend and exceeded all expectations. We had a full charcuterie board brought out to where we were sitting and then later met for dinner which included: Caprese Salad, Dinner Rolls (with the most insane honey cinnamon butter), Agile & Olio (shrimp pasta), Wagyu Sirloin, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet Our chef and his team (Jesse, Katie & Mary) were incredibly sweet and made sure everything was communicated well and completely clean when they left. STOP LOOKING ANY FURTHER FOR A PERSONAL CHEF This crew of Jesse Ruttger works like a well oiled machine. They showed up to cater a wedding reception for 20 ppl at a home on Mille Lacs Lake on time and prepared. All bright eyed and bushy tailed, the 3 of them had smiles on at all times. No time for fooling around, just cook and serve the plated meals! Professionalism. 5 Appearance. 5 Cleanliness. 5 Pace. 5 Wine Service. 5 1st visual of plate. 5 Menu presentation 5 Plate presentation. 5 Quality of food. 5 Taste of food. 5 Personality factor. 5 I particularly liked how the menu explicitly described each course. Using adjectives always worked for me too. If you can get the guests' mouth to start salivating by just painting a verbal picture of the food, you've done your job. I ate so much I couldn't even finish my freshly made chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet With a scoop of melty vanilla ice cream. All of the portions were ginormous. No one went hungry! Meet the Business Owner: Jesse R.

My passion for cooking began at a young age playing with pots and pans while my grandmother cooked. I remember she would always start cooking dinner at 11am, even if it was just spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. She showed her love to others through the food she made and passed that same passion down to me. As a teenager I enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen by creating new dishes and preparing food for my whole family. In high school I competed in national cooking competitions, won multiple culinary scholarship awards, and proceeded to attend the Art Institute of Minneapolis' culinary program. I have training and experience as a banquet chef under an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef at the Doubletree Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. After visiting friends and family in the Brainerd Lakes Area on multiple occasions, my wife of 8 years, 4-year-old son, and I relocated to the area in 2017 to make this our permanent home.
