Stopped in on a whim the evening after Christmas to have a couple of nightcaps. We were greeted by the host when we got off of the elevator and we asked if there were 2 seats available. He said they were at capacity & to give him a few minutes. We waited at the host stand while he found 2 chairs & a small entryway table and created an impromptu place for us to sit! We were basically in the middle of the room and had amazing views in every direction. A server appeared within minutes to offer us a drink list. The pinot noir that I ordered was not available so I decided on a white blend instead. My husband ordered a classic negroni. Both were very good and reasonably priced given the views and central location in the neighborhood. The selection of whiskeys, especially Japanese, was quite impressive. Even though the room was full until we left at last call, it was never loud or difficult to carry on a conversation. Everyone from the host, to the servers and bartenders were incredibly kind and professional. It's already a beautiful spot to stop in for a drink, it will only get busier as the weather warms & they can add seating outside. So lucky to have this beautiful cocktail den in the neighborhood. Just a small part of what appears to be a very well thought out and executed renovation of this historic building. Looking forward to going back soon before the crowds find out how amazing this place is. read more

I went to this place yesterday around 7:30 pm. My experience here was a 10/10! We were greeted by the most energetic, friendly host ever at the roof level. Very nice spot. It can be tricky to get in though. My friend and I went up and they had put us on a wait list. Mind you it was 4th of July, but then about 15 minutes later our friend went up and had told us he had gotten in. So our wait was shortened. The rooftop was very nice, and elegant. I wanted to check out the Cabana park but that was closed off. I ordered a drink and 3 shots which came out to be about $40!! So drinks are a bit pricey. read more

If you can get in, get a seat, and get a drink then this place is OK. I think the drinks are much pricier than​ other bars in WPBT and the Logan Square area. Like I said, the cocktails are good but with so many great bars nearby​ you might want to pass on this location if you have to wait. Tip- 1) you can't walk up, get your name on the list at Cafe Robey. They'll call you when they have your seats available. 2) In the winter, walk over to the small room right outside the main space. it's heated and a bit more private. read more

The Up Room has one of the best views of the city and definitely the best view in Wicker Park. Super elegant/upscale with a beautiful view, perfect for an intimate date or catching up with a few friends. Their menu you is diverse and although the cocktails are around $15 each, I think the view is worth that price. Also, because of how intimate it is there are not that many seats, so if you're not in the mood to stand (inside or outside) get there at a reasonable time to be able to snag a seat. Don't be shy either! Walk around outside on the rooftop and even snag a picture. Take advantage of that amazing view. read more

This is a great bar spot! We had to wait to go up so we had cocktails downstairs then moved up. They serve this delicious sweet popcorn with your drinks. I had the green mile then switched to wine. Luckily, there's a Stan's donuts right down the street, which makes a great pre-drinking pit stop. Tip #2: The view of the city is spectacular! Since you're outside of the main city, you get a nice view of the skyline. There's an outdoor section and an indoor section, and the outdoor seating has nice heating panels to make the view/temperature tradeoff manageable. Visited this place quite few times on different occasions (birthday drinks, dates, just to grab a drink and enjoy beautiful city views). First thing I should mention is each and every time hostess told us there was only standing room for drinks and the place was busy. Waiting time was never longer that 10 min. But after we went upstairs there was plenty sitting room and place was not that busy so we would end up having table every time. Great plus about this place is having heating lamps outside so you can enjoy amazing views from their terrace even if it's cold out. Serves is always attending and knowledgeable. They offer nice drink menu. My favorites are Above the Clouds and Proprietary Blend. Their menu also offers sparkling, white/rose and red wines. As well as couple of beer choices. This place is aight. The view of the city is pretty exceptional here. It's interesting to get a great view of the city that's not from downtown or from the el. Make sure to get seats outside to get the perfect vantage point. I like that it doesn't get crowded here but when we arrived they quoted us an hour wait and sent us to their other bar to wait. So we get to the other bar and order drinks. Wouldn't you know it but 6 minutes later our table was ready! If we could bring our drinks over it wouldn't have mattered but we had to chug them before we left. Drinks were fine, but for $16 and more I was thinking they'd be Billy Sunday/VH quality. I guess there is an upcharge for the view. Service is friendly and had no issues with them. Is it a little boujee for the Crotch? Maybe. But the view is bad enough to make up for it. read more

Speaking as a Wicker Park/Bucktown resident, this is the best view of Chicago you can get! You have to be willing to wait to get up here, but it's worth it. Decent drinks, but terribly rude waitress and bar tender. During our experience, the only kind person was the host. Our wait staff hardly acknowledged our table, and multiple times forgot our drinks. After having several drinks and paying for the tab, I did the math incorrectly on the total. Rather than coming up to me independently and addressing the math, they waited until I was walking out to start harassing my group of friends about the tip not being sufficient to their expectations. Mind you, they took the tab and saw the total about 15 minutes before we left. So they had plenty of time to come up to me quietly and ask. But they intentionally waited until we were walking in front of all of the customers to start shouting at my group of friends. Then pressured me into increasing my tip from my original amount. I couldn't believe it. She ran up to me with a pen and my original receipt to make me scratch out and provide a larger tip. Since when was tipping turned from being a reward for good service into waitresses bullying their customer? Don't worry, you can count on us never returning. Completely unprofessional. read more

I've been to up room a few times with friends who are new or visiting the city... and it's usually a chill vibe. However, like some of the other comments suggest, there is a blonde hostess that gives off extremely toxic vibes for no reason when she's on-site working. The energy from my most recent visit was HORRIBLE - she was condescending to a few friends for absolutely no reason and kept trying to make excuses about not letting them in for covid restrictions despite us already having a table. While the hotel is a nice piece of Chicago, I'm no longer interested in supporting this venue until someone can fix her attitude. read more

This is both a great daytime and nighttime rooftop. The service is wonderful and the drinks are tasty and reasonable for the location. First off, the good - this view is seriously one of the BEST in Chicago. Living in Wicker Park, I love the area, and this just made me love it even more. You're hovering above six corners, and you seriously feel as if you're on top of the world. The rest of my experience? Lackluster. The wait took forever-we were told we would have to wait over and hour because there was only one area that would seat 5 people. When the party in front of me (which had 4) said they had an extra person join them, the host said "we can make it work." Ok, I'm not too upset, but I would've said we had 4 and waited less if I'd known we could just pull up a chair....still, we were seated on a nice couch with a direct view of the city which was nice. And it's a small space, so I guess I understand the wait for big parties. Our drinks were good, but nothing special, pricey, and took FOREVER. For being a small space, you would think it wouldn't take that long to get a Moscow mule, which I would consider a pretty standard drink... It's good for one drink to impress a date, show your friends an amazing view, whatever. But skip this for happy hour or Friday nights out. You can do better. read more

Probably one of the best vista points in Chicago! We went on a Sunday afternoon and didn't have any issues finding a table for two. They have some great signature cocktails but I had the mixologist make me a custom cucumber vodka cocktail which ended up coming out to $17 (most the drinks on the menu are in the $14 range)!!! I wish they would have mentioned the higher price point for a custom cocktail since I probably would have just stuck to the menu options. All in all it's a must-see spot but just recommend watching what you order. read more

Amazing view of the city! I was staying at the hotel and was seated quickly. I ordered a drink and received my bill before I even got my drink which I thought was pretty weird. When I sat down I heard the lady at the table next to me complain about her drink. When I received my drink I was not pleased either. The server was nice and it has a urban modern decor. I'm going to have to give this place four stars with the acknowledgement that you are paying more for the space than anything else. The cocktails are spendy and not anything special, but the space makes up for it with an incredible view, and the staff were lovely. We had a cocktail each. Mine was heavily alcoholic, tasty, but not anything to write home about. It was fruity and had an herbal garnish of rosemary but didn't really pull off much in the way of aromatic subtlety, despite advertising a vanilla note. Just sort of tasty and boozy and expensive. My co-conspirator had one that was beet and some sort of vaguely fruit thing, can't remember. I have had a dozen cocktails that try to do the beet thing and don't do it very well. Beet is a strong taste and it's difficult to employ in a cocktail, whose major asset is meant to be its subtlety. Worth checking out once or going on a special date, or if you, like me, drove or walked by this building every day when it was vacant for years and were curious about its current status. read more

We came here for a rooftop cocktail to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. The staff was nice and we quickly got seated once we figured out we had to go to the second floor to check in. The drinks are subpar- especially for $16 a pop which is the same the Hancock charges. They were both too heavy on the sugar. Up room provides what no other commercial place in wicker park provides--a great view of the city at the 13th floor, classy ambiance, and delicious cocktails. The prices are on par with any rooftop bar and more expensive than its more casual sibling rooftop, cabana club, which is located in the same building but on the 6th floor. Unlike cabana, you can expect a more a sophisticated bar, cocktail, and ambiance. It gets very busy and fills to capacity easily on the weekends or really any evening with great weather, so I would recommend having a back-up plan in mind. read more

My boyfriend and I made a spur-of-the-moment decision and came here after having an unsatisfactory experience at another bar the same night. This definitely lifted our spirits. The ambience is cozy and intimate and they played dope music. The view is more than I expected. It is gorgeous and I feel like you can see so many parts of Chicago from up there! What did we order? I am on a ginger kick so I ordered The Whisper Song and really liked it. My boyfriend ordered The Wicker Swizz and though I can't remember what was in it, he really enjoyed it. Joshua was our server and was polite and kind. It was quite dark. While I like the mood it set, I couldn't read the drink menu very well and struggled to find light...but I think I'm just getting old. Overall, I dig this place and would totes come back for a cocktail. I'd especially love to sit in the adobe-esque area outside. I'd also looooove to come back during sunset because I bet the view is even more ahhhmazing. read more
