Printing services can be a headache - generally overpriced and underdelivered, it often feels like they know you have no other options. Johan and UP2U is a breath of fresh air. I had a rush job - a last minute order of 3 large sized posters that I needed to get done before my flight, which was that afternoon. I had tried looking at several shops in the area, all of which required prior 12-24h notice. I ended up trying UP2U print, and I'm glad I did - I walked in late morning around 10am and I had the posters, all wrapped in a travel tube, by 11am. Normally a rush job would have cost an arm and a leg, but Johan waived it saying he was just happy to provide quality work. In total I paid $30 per poster, which were 25"x35" - a ridiculously good price. The quality of the posters was exceptional as well. The paper was heavy and it felt like it was backed on some sturdy plastic, nothing like the flimsy prints I've gotten from FEDEX. It was laminated as well, and the colors came out true. I was also given another set of posters free of charge -the first set of the posters had some tiny water marks that I would never have noticed, but Johan insisted that he wanted only the highest quality product for his customers, and reprinted them free of charge. I have nothing but kind words for Johan. Im a bit of a cynic, as it often feels like businesses prioritize profit. Here, I felt taken care of. It was my first time experiencing getting business cards printed, I came in to get a quote from Johan and Lillian. They are the sweetest people! If you're a student from Stanford or a student in general, they offer you a discount for your printing needs. I went home to email Johan my design and then it turned out it was too light of a font, after he had printed some samples of it. I came by to check it out, Johan then suggested a better option/color for them and printed me some more samples just to make sure I was happy with the outcome. As usual I was running late with the annual newsletter (the one where I brag about how much better my kids are than yours) and my normal vendor had shutdown for the holidays. I start calling around, and I had mixed success getting a commitment to complete the job. I call UP2U printing and talk with Johan. He asks me the job, I tell him. He asks me if it bleeds. I say, "All men bleed, Johan, it is the joy and sorrow of life." He explained not actual blood, but do you print to the edges. Nope, I'm working with a border. I e-mail it to him with a count and he accepts the job with flexible payment options. He tells me by e-mail 20 minutes later that the job is ready. I drive over there and pick it up for a very reasonable price. He's very kind and made certain I was happy with the transaction. It looks like they have very extensive offerings for larger print jobs as well--I wish I had been able to use their foil stamping or diecut services. First time to try their service out and I can say that it was a disappointing experience. I ordered online for a set of bookmarks and since they were near our office, I decided to do a store pickup. I placed the order online for a same business day option and we received an email that the order was completed 2:16 PM. Prior to this, I called them to ask if we can possibly do a store pickup on Saturday since it was already noon when I placed the order online. The guy I spoke with said we can drop by the store even though they were closed if we were going to pick the order up. However, he also offered instead to have it picked up the same day (Friday). We needed the bookmarks for Sunday so this was great news for me but I didn't agree just yet and just said that we can do Saturday if he is okay with it. He said yes but if he finishes that day he can email us to let us know and I agreed. We got the email and we were happy to pick it up. Before checking out the order online, it will show a preview of your uploaded design. I adjusted our design to fit their frame and made sure that there was enough space for bleeding. When we got our bookmarks, some of them were misaligned while the rest were okay. I called the guy back to let him know and if we can possibly get replacements for those that came out wrong. I tried to be as polite as I can and not sound so demanding. As soon as I was trying to explain the situation, the guy on the phone said, "Just tell me what you want me to do and what you want. I have eight other jobs to do by 1:30 PM. I don't have time... Just tell me what you want me to do." This caught me off guard not to mention that I was trying to explain to him that it is not an issue of not enough bleeding space but because HE cut them off incorrectly. If it was my fault, I would've owned up to it but knowing that not all the bookmarks were askew and some came out exactly right as they should then it was clearly an error when he was cutting them. I attached samples here as proof which you can clearly see that one was cut incorrectly. We even went out of our way to compare a store bought bookmark which was the same size as our order (2" x 6") and when we put them together, the width was off by at least half an inch which would explain why some of the bookmarks weren't centered. Very disappointed for our first time. At least learn to own up to your mistakes and listen to feedback. Also, if you're going to argue that we placed the order 2 hours before your business closes then you should've made a note on your webpage that you have a cutoff period or don't even bother offering a SAME BUSINESS DAY option if you find it hard to commit to. Never doing business with them again because of the awful customer service I experienced and I definitely do not recommend them. Plenty of other printing places nearby who can do the same, if not better, service. read more

Used them for printing postcards -- they were top notch and blew away everyone else. They: a) were able to handle the custom size at no extra charge, b) were able to have blazingly fast turnaround (ready within minutes of us approving the proof), c) even threw in extra copies at no charge, and d) left it for us for pickup even prior to having a chance to pay. All of this is unlike competitors. The only thing more I'd look for is perhaps some design help (we had to do our own design) but for a pure print job we haven't found anything better in at least the south bay, if not the whole bay area. Do NOT go to the "business big box" shops -- they will rip you off. read more

He literally saved my life with getting a print job done at super speed, all while his shop was in the middle of processing a HUGE order for Yahoo. How is this business not already reviewed dozens of times? You upload your document on their site, specify quantity and paper, pay your ridiculously low charge upfront, and they'll ship or hold for your pickup. I've used them twice so far, and not only have they over-delivered (faster than stated, trimming at no extra charge), on my second order Johan called to make sure I'd selected the right paper for the project. Quality work, too. Try getting that kind of service from Finko's or any big box office supply store copy desk! Best for people who have experience with prior print projects. You know, like with real design programs and stuff. Their location on San Antonio's little side road in the side alley of a tilt-up makes it a bit hard to find, but your savings make it worthwhile. If they were closer I'd use 'em more, but when I do go there it gives me an excuse to have lunch at Michael's. Looking forward to the next print project on both counts! read more
