I imagine that they are having some serious challenges staying afloat this year but they have done some great work for me over the years. When my kids were in preschool, they offered our non-profit preschool parents such a generous discount on getting the annual memory books laminated and each time I bring them out many years later - I'm so thankful that we had the fragile papers thickly laminated to preserve those precious memories. I have been printing documents here for almost 3 years already from the first day my business opened close by. I was so happy that I could find the place professional and very close by. However, I had been done everything by myself. I have never asked for help of any thing. That's why I have never know how mean and racist they are until now. They didn't respect and polite to me because I'm an Asian. If you are an Asian you shouldn't come there. He said: " you have to get out of here because this is my lunch time. I didn't say it for personal purposed, but you have to get out of here". My Mac doesn't work with some documents. I tried to open it by their company with fees. After a while, there is a man come to me and said: " you are taking longer than 15' already, you have to leave". I said: " I'm sorry, but I came from San Jose. It's 30' away from here, and I have meeting after this. I can't come back. Could you let's me finish the design, so you can print the documents for me". He said: " you have to get out of here because this is my lunch time. I didn't say it for personal purposed, but you have to get out of here". I'm the only one customer there at this time, no one else. I almost cried. I never think I could come back there again with how he treated me such as No service for Asian. Then, Kimberly called me the end of the day. After she talked back and forth with my assistant. Finally, everything was done today. I was excited to come to pick up. When I came in, I said hi to Kimberly. She didn't even look at my face and say hello. I felt that's so weird. I don't know what's going on, but I tried to get over of that. I was confused should I pay her cash or credit card, then I decided to pay her by credit card. I need some flyers printed quickly for a non-profit, so I called Fed Ex. Looooooong wait on the phone, dropped connection, called back, waited for someone else to give me a quote, which was ridiculously expensive. I remembered seeing an ad for Copy Factory in the local paper, so I called them. Someone answered right away and was able to give me a quote which was WAY lower than Fed Ex. My work has changed and I haven't been to see Todd and Kimberly for a handful of years. But I am SO glad I came back. The story: Our designer updates our biz card design after . . . well, much too long. They weren't scratched on clay. But almost. He sends the file to FedEx/Kinko's for review and it doesn't look quite right to me. But FE/K's desk staff says they are ready to go, can print immediately. But it doesn't seem quite right so I send the file to the Copy Factory. Kimberly doesn't like the quality and asks for more resolution. Back to the designer. She still doesn't like it and pulls out a magnifying glass to show me the imperfections. Back to the designer. Good this time, but not perfect. But now she has a file that she can manipulate, so she works on it herself. And the resulting card is perfect. All that for their normal, modest printing cost. The careful, helpful service was all free. Just because they didn't want me to have a card that is less than perfect. On a -- for them -- little bitty job. My kinda people. read more

I need new flyers for my open house asap. My flyer was designed Not proportional to the 8.5 x 11 standard letter size. Copy Factory did some desktop to enlarge my file to fit and made it work. I proof read the new version in the morning, and picked up the printed flyers the same day, after lunch. The quality of the flyers were good. The advice provided were practical. Copy Factory is my go-to destination for not simply basic copying, but fancy tasks like scanning blueprints and printing 24" x 36" documents and even having them laminated. When Copy Factory was closed during the pandemic, I had to use Staples for a similar task and the document (a sign) faded after just a couple months. And the staff is pleasant and professional--which sets the bar awfully high in retail. Todd and Kimberly are top-tier! Belated review for the wonderful service I got last year getting ready for the celebration of my dad's life. I was stressed and sad to say the least, but Todd helped me get everything perfect - from the large mounted photo of my dad's 1943 heartthrob Army pic, and other big prints to display, to copies of the obituary I wrote, and my parents' final Christmas letter that I would then send out to all their friends. They did such a good job on the large prints, that I brought in a couple more old photos (me as a little kid, laughing and almost falling off my dad's shoulders, and my beautiful mom's high school grad pic!) to scan and print for me to pick up later. I was just reminded of how kind Todd was, when I went in this last week to have some special calendars copied and bound. Very impressed! I went in there today to get some blueprints scanned. As I was there from out of town and on other business, when asked when I needed the work, I mentioned it would be helpful to me if they could do it while I perform other tasks in town. I really thought this was a stretch to ask this, but Todd accommodated me and saved me a lot of trouble. The quality of the copies I got were OUTSTANDING. One of the prints was a badly faded blueprint, and the PDF came out absolutely perfectly. Far better than I expected. There is literally nothing good about this place. The service was miserable. It seemed like giving them my business was the worst thing I could have done to the lady who served me. Support your local copiers and never go to a Kinkos again. This is the place to go. I went in to get 3 posters printed. Got in at around 10AM, quickly chatted about paper type, bleed, and turnaround time. Gave them the file on a USB and they double checked the dimensions, where they realized that they would be a crop (it wouldn't be the standard 11x15 poster size). Super helpful and knowledgeable, knew their stuff when it came to resizing. Even when I asked where I could get gold foiling they were able to refer me to another store if I wanted that done. Turnaround time was a day, got my posters and was impressed with quality and finish. Extremely cheap, ~$5 for 3 11x15 inch prints with bleed, 100 lb cover paper and quick turnaround. I immediately turned around and ordered 6 more prints. Would go here for photos, posters, signs, anything really. I only wish that they had super card-stocky-matte paper, it seems the only option they had was a silk finish, which was fine for what I needed. read more

LOVE this place. Great prices, and they're super responsive. When I needed some copies in a jiffy (come on, how often do we get to use this word?) I was able to email them, call to confirm that they received it, and pick it up hours later. Way better service than going to FedEx/Kinko's or other big name corporate store. We forgot to pick up a stack of copies a few months ago, and when I went in last time, the guy asked if I wanted to claim them now. I said I would have to check with the office first to see what happened (since it was before my time at the job), and they graciously held on to the box for me until I returned the next time to pick up more copies. I used Copy Factory to print out some basic business cards this week. What I like: 1. I'm not a graphic designer. I "designed" my card by creating a biz card sized document in word, trying out different fonts and saving as a PDF. That's it. Copy Factory ensured me that they'd do the rest. No one talked to me about bleed, creating a full page and other stuff I have no idea how to do. 2. I needed the cards in two days. I paid extra. Cards were ready. Sounds trivial but so often print shops miss this important point. 3. Professionally printed, exactly what I wanted. Good paper, sharp ink quality, sharp cuts (I know there are professional terms for this but the point is I'm not a professional, I just need a card that looks good). As a graphic design student in the South Bay, Copy Factory is my go-to print shop. It's hard to find a good printing place as a student, especially since our print jobs tend to be small, super specific, and we run on sink or swim deadlines. I've had nightmare experiences at Kinkos and Jungle. On the other hand, Copy Factory goes above and beyond what is expected. I can't recommend them enough. What makes them awesome: 1. Great service: They are a mom and pop shop that cares about getting your business, even if it's a tiny order. They have finished super-last-minute jobs where other places would turn you away. 2. Best value: They have literally the lowest prices around. When I ask around in class, I find that their prices can be half as much as other places, for print quality that is just as good or better. 3. Super accommodating: This is where Copy Factory stands out from the pack. Not only do they have a ton of options (papers, sizes, ink/laser) but Todd lets me get hands on behind the counter to make sure my project comes out *exactly* how I want it. They've been BEYOND EXCELLENT in making tweaks and accommodations and processing the job while I wait, and they even me use some of their gear in back. Honestly, they are the ideal place for a student. Where else are you going to find some place as affordable and accommodating, that actually cares that much about your super-specific, dinky little order and tight deadline? These guys always come through for me. They don't have any problem doing last minute copies even though you can tell they have a lot of jobs from other customers in the works. I've brought over documents to be copied and after taking a look they suggested I email it over to them so that the edges would be more crisp if the original was printed off of their printer. Every year I write a family newsletter (don't worry, I don't brag about how much better my children are than yours), and I print it on 32# 11x17 paper, folded in half. For two years, I printed it at 'the other guys' and got ramrodded for a cost that made me think I was buying Christmas for the employee's cousin's ex-girlfriend, not to mention the big sign in front of the store (seriously, more than $3 a page). I Yelp!ed 'printing' in Palo Alto, and the Copy Factory came out on top for a reason...these people know how to get it done. I called and told them what I was doing, and they first asked a bunch of questions like margins, number of colors, and whether any of the print went over the edge. Never heard that before. They quoted a price that was less than half of 'the other guys'. They gave me an e-mail address and I sent them the PDF and they would have it done no later than a couple of days afterwards, and probably sooner. They called a day early and told me to come by and pick up the order. It was completed and packaged when I arrived, and the price was perfect. My experience with Copy Factory is that the service was pretty annoying and the quality of the work not great. All in all, I'm not going back. I took a half-dozen books to Copy Factory to have their bindings removed and have them 3-hole punched. On the phone I was told it was no problem, but when I got there the man in charge asked me if I couldn't just 3-hole punch everything myself. I was thinking um, this is why I'm here and ready to pay you money, so, no? Also, we're talking almost 1000 pages. Anyway, I was quoted a 2-day wait, which was a bit long given that I needed the books to study but it was ok. On the day of the books weren't ready. I was asked to come back later in the day and told I would get a call if there was a problem. Wouldn't you know it, I went back and they were still not ready. The man in charge seemed to think it was amusing. When I finally got the batch back the job was done reasonably well but some of the pages were out of order, which was a bit disturbing. read more

Bah Humbug! I really love that Copy Factory does a great job perfect binding my projects for me. And trust me, I am thankful for not having to travel far to get my projects done. However, when I went in Saturday to have two small books perfect bound for my final, when asked by Kimberly when I wanted these done, I said Monday to which I got a response of something along the lines of well there are 20 projects I have to do and there are 6 hours of work and I am only here for 4. Um ok, I suppose Tuesday would work but i'd rather it be Monday. She told me to call on Monday to check. Mind you, I only said Tuesday because she basically made it seem impossible to get it done Monday. I called this morning and basically said, Tuesday is a bit of a crunch since I travel from far and traffic is crap. My Thurs final got moved to Tuesday otherwise I wouldnt bother calling you to beg. I get there ready to say thank you and how grateful I was only to be scolded by Kimberly like I was a freaking teenager. I didnt even get to finish my sentence she literally said, "spare me" Ok, let me remind you theres a lot of shit going on in the world today, and me being thankful apparently is not welcomed here. She also felt the need to tell me how she had to delay other projects to do mine. Ok, thats why I was trying to say thanks. I originally wrote my review in 2012. It's now 2017, which means I've been using Copy Factory for 5 years. They've printed numerous posters for me during that time, as well as several copies of my dissertation. They've always helped me out when I needed an order rushed, and everything they've printed has been flawless. This is definitely the print shop to use if you're in Palo Alto! My original review, from 2012: Copy Factory's quality of work was fantastic, and their service even more so. I needed a 4' x 3' poster printed at the last minute. While they normally ask for 24 hours notice for jobs like this, they happily accommodated my emergency and managed to have my poster ready for me 90 minutes after I called. I love this local, family owned business! I had a small but complicated project that involved copying and laminating pages for a scrap book. My family spent a lot of time making these pages, so I wouldn't trust them to a teenager working at Kinko's or Staples. Every time I've been to Copy Factory, one of the owners has been there. When I got there, the guy was clearly in the middle of a big project, but he stopped what he was doing to help me figure out the best solution for my project. It was Friday morning, and he said he could have it ready by Monday, but, of course, I needed it done that day, and he came through for me. I was really impressed with the time and attention he gave to this small, individual project that cost a total of 15 bucks. Prices are great. Service can be hit or miss. Would have received 5 stars except for the customer service from the woman who co-owns the place?/works there. I've never complained before because I figured she was just having a bad day. Since she is aloof and rude each and every time I've done business with them, I have to assume it is how she treats all customers. When I mentioned the discount advertised on their website (Stanford students and staff a 10% discount), she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. I didn't say anything and she finally said, "Well, that will take care of the tax." I also wanted to increase the number of copies of my order, but was intimidated by her and thought she would blow. Instead, I called after I left the store and thankfully a man answered and took care of the change for me. The woman seemed annoyed that I entered the shop and interrupted her. After placing my order, she said I could run an errand and return. I asked if 45 minutes would be sufficient and she responded by saying 2 hours. That's a heck of an errand. When I returned 4 hours (yes, 4 hours) later, the job was not started. A man ran my job while I waited. He was pleasant and helpful. Suggestion to the woman - don't handle the front desk if you can't handle customer service (I was pleasant and initiated a friendly "hi"). Or, re-check your attitude and be pleasant when a customer comes into your copy center and wants to do business. read more
