My husband and I came in to get invoices printed for his new insulation business. We were at Kinko's, right down the street, when I yelped the closest and most popular printing shop. Yelp customers raved about their experience with Menlo Press, so we drove over expecting the same results. The print shop is small, filled with paper all around. This only proved this place was popular. We had a copy of an invoice template we wanted to use for this new business. We asked him to create a replica with the exception of the business information. We filled out the information for the copies and he gave us a rate for $15. We were surprised at how cheap it was. I thought we were looking at spending at least $50 here based on the location. The owner said he'd have it done within 2 days. (We were expecting a week long wait!) Just to make things even better, he said he had the template saved in his files, so we can just call and order more invoices if needed. Wow! My husband and I had an amazing experience overall. After 15 mins he was able to help me even though short notice he was able to figure it out for us at last minute walk in. Having just wasted nearly $100 on an order of business cards at Kinkos/FedEx Office, just 1 block away, I needed to find a digital printer that had decent paper and straight cutting! I've used yelp to make a decision at least a handful of times. One is the same as the next...unless you KNOW differently. Know this - After a year and a half of using yelp, I'm signing up just so I can leave a review for Menlo Press and the man who runs the show, Duc. I started using Menlo Press when it was American Speedy because it was close, fast and very reasonable prices. I continued because Duc was a great guy that really delivers! As a start-up (low-tech) in Menlo Park I suddenly needed something I hadn't yet thought of - printing, of all kinds. Duc was closest and I liked the experience you get with a shop of this kind (as opposed to big brand). Anyhow, he got my business because he was close and he could meet my tight deadline. The work of Menlo Press is phenomenal! I didn't even know what a skilled printer was until I had something produced by one. Pretty sure Duc does all the work. He knows what he's doing! Plus, he's a nice guy. I moved down to San Jose now as operations have expanded and tried out a local shop one day because again I needed something quickly and couldn't make the 5pm drive up to MP. I like this place. Duc is hands on friendly with plenty of printing experience to help you design your business cards. You can communicate by phone or email. He helped design our cards and about three months later when we needed new cards with just a few minor changes he remembered who we were and the design of our business cards. Easy to use and helpful. As follow up, had some color pamphlets printed in both color and b&w off of files sent by email. Again, no problem and cheaper than Kinkos. Duc even adjusted our settings slightly to fit the paper better without us even asking for it. read more

This is a one-man operation, and the owner really knows his stuff. He's a master of paper and printing, and knows exactly what you need for any occasion. In addition to offering self-service copying at a MUCH cheaper price than Kinko's, for the past four years, the owner Duc has done an amazing job designing and printing the program for my Rotary Club. He has done the work with only a few days notice each time and has never complained about my chronic tardiness in getting him the materials. The cost has been very affordable and I've received many compliments on the programs. While the standard business hours are 9-5 M-Fri, I have been able to pick up the programs from him on the weekend when I ran behind schedule in getting him the materials. Doug at American Speedy Printing saved the day! I was given the last minute responsibility to print 50 baby shower invitations that needed to go out ASAP. Logically, I went to Kinko's with my blank invites thinking, "It's Kinko's. They can do anything. ". Well, anything but print 5x7 invitations. Apparently, they were too small for their printers. However, they were nice enough to direct me to American Speedy Printing a block away. I arrived at 9:30am and Doug had the proof ready in a few hours for my approval and the invitations were ready to pick up by 4pm. They were identical to the example I provided and looked beautiful. I had a client who needed business cards for her team that needed to be designed, printed and delivered by next day. It took one entire day to get the design approved which meant that I needed them printed double-sided, trimmed with rounded corners and delivered in one day. I went to Menlo Press because they were close to my client and I had passed by several times, thinking "I wonder if they do good work... Should stop by and get samples some time." I walked in this one morning, and Mr. Vu greets me after a short wait. It seems like he runs the shop entirely by himself, the front and back. So if you have to wait, it's because he's working the press in the back... But don't worry, a loud bell alerts him when customers walk in. He took my disk immediately and ran a digital proof for me on the spot. The colors looked great, clean lines and bright colors. I was worried because the design had a lots of gradient patterns which can easily print banded or with muddied colors. He told me I could come pick the cards up at the end of the day. He delivered on time and my clients were very happy with the outcome. He did not even charge a rush fee. The cost ended up being significantly less than my usual digital printers who request a 48 hour turnaround.... and who wanted to double their price for the rush. I am thrilled that I found Menlo Press. Duc informed me that he also does offset printing, not just digital.... So for larger runs in the future (and with more time) I will definitely try out his press work. Stay tuned.... read more
