OMG I LOVE UPCYCLE PARTS SHOP. I'M SORRY I'M YELLING, I JUST GET REALLY EXCITED TO FIND COOL PLACES. I learned about Upcycle Parts Shop through a local film festival. And I'm smitten. Upcycle Parts Shop is so many things, but first and foremost, they are a nonprofit promoting creative reuse of everyday objects. There's too much cool stuff piling up in landfills. Upcycle Parts is changing that. Upcycle Parts is a donation center, shop and event space. On Thursdays and Saturdays you can shop the store and mostly everything is under $5. The amount of treasures is astonishing. On their website, they have a full Donations Guide of what they can accept. You can also attend events here to challenge your creativity, like making flowers, totes, wreaths...the sky is the limit with what these talented women come up with. Forget throwing away that old jewelry you're not wearing, donate it to the Upcycle Parts Shop for it to enjoy its second life as something else. read more

So this review is actually for their "bottle blossoms" class. It's $35 and it comes with a 3 hour workshop on how to make five "bottle blossoms" with recycled materials ( They also had snacks and drinks, you could bring your own alcohol) The hosts of this class were Nicole and Marissa, Who were truly wonderful and encouraging throughout the process. I'm not a huge crafter and I am not very good at crafting but they made me feel super comfortable and I loved my end result of my project. They started out by telling us a little bit about the business Upcycle, workshops they hold, and a bit about the historic building were we in (built in 1924, Slovenian). A big part of their workshops are promoting creativity and community. They really wanted us to get to know each other and started us off with an icebreaker so that we got to know each person a little bit. I really enjoyed the woman I spoke with at my table. Next onto the project. They had a pack it full of instructions but also took the time to explain everything to us, it was a very relaxed class and they spent their time walking around checking on us helping us out and giving us great ideas for A big part of their workshops are promoting creativity and community. You could paint them however you wanted. With neat shapes and designs or classic. I chose to make mine look mostly like real flowers. I am so pleased with how my project turned out. They asked us at the end to use one word to describe how we felt after we completed our project. The word I chose was confident. I felt so empowered throughout the process and never felt like I made a "Pinterest fail" I enjoyed this class so much. Unfortunately I'm a slow worker so I didn't get to check out the store but I will definitely be back. I had a great day spending time with my mom doing an awesome project with some wonderful ladies. read more

So..... I couldn't wait until the Yelp event.... when I saw this business I was instantly excited and just had to check it out. So, I have a passion for upcycling and reimagining things in a different way. I typically do this with clothing. This place is dedicated to this passion. There is any pieces you would need for crafts.... including wine corks, buttons, fabrics, vinyl, used crayons, and paper. This would be amazing if you needed cheaper supplies for wedding or parties. Another cool thing I learned is the idea is to get people together and create community which is why they open space for people to come together and craft and talk. This is free for immediate residents and $5 for everyone else. There is also classes and events to help learn how to upcycle and see how every day things can be used for art. So my transaction was amazing. I was greater by a kind person who called me friend. They have a whole basement of less desirable merchandise that you can put in a bag for a set price. I did this and got upholstery fabric, linen, fabric samples from a furniture store, and vintage fabric. It is worth it for fellow crafters!!! read more

I loved the Bling Hack Workshop today. We took apart old, donated jewelry items, so much to choose from), and created our own new pieces. Marissa went over some jewelry making basics and premiered our extensive gallery of choices and we were on our way. So many beautiful and unique pieces created today. Everyone talked to everyone, we listened to some awesome music and got busy creating. UpCycle provides pizza and munchies. We brought some beer to sip but most of our time was spent making memorable artsy jewelry. I think everyone walked away with several pieces that would have cost a lot more to buy than it did to make. And each piece is a unique work of art. read more

Upcycle Parts Shop is a non-profit dedicated to upcycling and creative reuse. As a budding minimalist, I appreciate that Upcycle provides alternatives to throw-away consumer culture and considers the environmental impact of buying everything new. Upcycle quenches my need to scavenge and dig for cute lil' things and hidden treasures. Nooks and crannies are filled with buttons, paper, and any kind of random thingamabob you could imagine. I think my favorite find thing is their selection of vintage greeting cards. It's one of those places you have to visit to understand. I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

I found this little shop on a recent teacher shopping day & it's great! They are bursting with eclectic donated items that are fantastic for crafting, teacher supplies, or whatever your mind can come up with. They sell most items for between $1-3 or you can buy by the bag. Their staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and it was a joy to explore their shop! read more
