PART 1 We rented…read morethe Manor Room for my daughter's wedding because we were on a budget, and their pricing seemed affordable. They also gave us the impression that they were willing to work with us financially. From the beginning, one of the biggest issues we experienced was that the information we were given repeatedly changed throughout the planning process. We made a point to ask questions and clarify details before making decisions because we wanted to avoid surprises. We relied on the information we were given, only to later be told something different. Ava was assigned as our point of contact. Unfortunately, we found ourselves repeatedly having to clarify details, only for the answers to change later. We chose to rent the venue without catering but hired their bartender service because Ava specifically told us that everything for the bar would be provided and that we only needed to bring the alcohol and mixed drinks. Based on that information, we booked their bartender. During our final consultation one month before the wedding, we were then told that we would actually need to provide virtually everything ourselves, including bar tools, supplies, garnishes, and possibly even ice because they weren't sure whether their ice machine would be working. Since this was completely different from what we had originally been told, we canceled their bartender and hired an outside bartending service that supplied everything we needed. This resulted in an unexpected additional expense. When I requested a credit for the bartender we were no longer using because the information had changed, I was told no because we had supposedly received "special pricing" to fit our budget. During that same consultation, we added the plates, goblets, and silverware package. Ava showed us samples of the linens, runners, and dinner napkins for us to choose from. Since they didn't have the runner color we wanted, we purchased our own runners and only used their tablecloth overlays. Later, when I followed up, I was told the dinner napkins were not actually included but that they would "throw them in" at no charge. This was confusing because we had already been asked to select the napkins during our consultation. Once again, the information we were given changed after decisions had already been made. We also requested an additional hour for setup, which cost another $60. Considering we received no credit for canceling the bartender we were no longer using because the information had changed, every additional charge became increasingly frustrating. On the day of the wedding, we arrived at 3:00 p.m. to begin unloading and decorating and immediately noticed the sweetheart table had already been set up even though it was visibly warped in the middle. Ava was unavailable that day, so I contacted James, whom I had originally communicated with. The staff replaced the table, but it was disappointing that it had been placed in the venue knowing it was damaged. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. We soon discovered water leaking from the men's restroom area and water coming up through the venue's laminate flooring. While setting up behind the buffet, we lifted a black floor mat and found numerous paper towels underneath that were completely soaked. We also noticed water seeping up through the middle of the dance floor. When we reported this to the office staff, we were told it "might have been from the ice machine the night before" and that they had only noticed it that day. This explanation raised several concerns. If there had been an event the previous evening, wouldn't the cleanup staff have noticed the leak? If they knew about it that morning, why wasn't it repaired before our event? Why were soaked paper towels already hidden underneath the mat if this had only just been discovered? Based on what we observed, it was difficult to believe this was a problem they had just become aware of. We expressed our concerns because the wet floor posed a serious slipping hazard for our guests. Rather than acknowledging those concerns or discussing a reasonable solution, we were told we had only two options approximately 30 minutes before our ceremony was scheduled to begin: Reschedule the wedding so they could fix the problem, or Allow them to place wet floor signs throughout the venue while staff continuously dried the floor. The office staff also repeatedly referenced the Force Majeure clause in the contract as though it relieved them of responsibility. However, their own contract states that Force Majeure applies to situations such as natural disasters, fires, government restrictions, labor disputes, civil unrest, or other events beyond their reasonable control.

The manager of this location is Mr. RK. He's very professional to work with and kind. He's on top of things and makes your event go as smooth as possible. The exterior has a cabin feel to it with simple dark brown colors and white trimmed paint. The house itself does not look big on the outside but once you step inside it is very spacious. There are a few entrances you can go into: main front door, kitchen, and the couple side doors. The kitchen entrance (located downstairs with steps that leads you to it) is convenient especially if you have plenty of stuff to carry as it goes directly out to the parking lot. The kitchen has everything you need: refrigerator, sinks, tables, and mini kitchen appliances for your cooking needs. From the kitchen it then leads you to the main ballroom this space is huge it also has a stage and to the side of it are the restrooms. The ballroom has its own separate entrance doors that also leads to the parking lot. When seeing the place I saw two main ballrooms upstairs and downstairs they are about the same size and both have stages. There are a few bathrooms: in the ballroom space upstairs, the downstairs ballroom, and next to the kitchen both are kept clean and nicely decorated. Each ballroom can fit around 100 - 120 guests comfortably without having the tables being cramped. As for tables and chairs they are provided by the clubhouse - I am not sure about this I came there for a party I was invited to and helped with the setup. When we arrived there, few of the staff members met us at the parking lot to open the place for us and they stayed there incase we needed extra assistance. When locking up we handed them the keys and they were there most of the time. The parking lot is very small less than 20 cars can park in the actual parking spot and the rest of the cars can park in the streets or in the surrounding neighborhoods. They have a small garden in the front of the clubhouse a nice area to take pictures with as there are tress and green grasses for your background.

We had a short time frame, a tight budgets (his death was a surprise, which makes for a surprise budget as well), and a whole lot of unknowns -- like how many guests there would be. That's rough event planning. Sheryl and our coordinator Lyndsay were incredibly flexible, kind, and understanding. I will always be grateful to them for this. We paid for the additional assistance of two staffers -- Helping Hands, for $20 per hour. Well-worth it, and they were lovely. Highly recommend. Lyndsay was an absolute SAINT putting up with all our question marks on this day. She was calm, professional, and had everything under control. Since I was crying half the time, I was very thankful for her presence. Our guests were blown away with how beautiful the venue was. Most guests were local and they were as surprised as we were! So here's what you need to know about this venue: --it is gorgeous, shady, clean and just lovely. Perfect for a smallish event of about 100-200, IMO. --it is disabled accessible, although it is a historical property. --you cannot hear the freeway at all once you are inside the venue --pricing is VERY reasonable and you won't have a catering minimum. --it has Padua Hills vibes, but the catering minimum there is $10K and you have to use their caterer -- no thank you. --big money saver: they have tables, chairs, umbrellas, and they set up of all that. You only need to rent linens. --There is a kitchen, but it is not really for cooking. More for staging and refilling. It has a commercial fridge and a freezer, so we kept ice and extra cheese and desserts to refill. The caterers used it, but we didn't cook there. --it has both indoor and outdoor spaces, which makes it great for rain plans. --there is no alcohol, no smoking of any kind, and music needs to be the Disney version. It is owned by a Christian church, so values need to align there. They mean these things. Respect this. For us, this was no problem, since we needed a sober venue for the respect of some of our guests. We simply printed a disclaimer on our invitations. --you probably need extra signage at the entrance because it is easy to miss. You need to allow time for people to get in if you have a lot of guests. --Cheryl was organized -- we had a pre-meeting where she gave us a tour and a folder of all the details (table sizes, rules, helpful vendor contacts, etc) In our case, we welcomed guests on the north side of the building, had an espresso bar on the west patio, then directed guests to the back yard where the gazebo is. We held the "ceremony" part of the event by the gazebo, but we didn't really decorate at all (we didn't want it to feel like a wedding). Then we invited guests into the house and to the north side of the property, where one would normally have a reception for snacks and socializing. There are lots of little rooms and places where groups of guests can socialize within the house. For us, that worked because groups of my son's friends could reminisce together in their own social groups. We had no real need for flowers, because the facility was beautiful by itself.
