I just now saw every other review. Ow. My experience was good. I happened to pick a time in which there were only two people ahead of me. I entered with my mask just in case i was contgious (no longer required at this facility). I took a number and was called to the checkin desk within minutes of my arrival. Staff checking me in was pleasant and efficient. My turn came within a short while to see my professional. I was checked out for a sore throat and tested for COVID and Strep which i requested. They informed me of my wait time for the results and they promptly came back within hat time to tell me results were both negative. I feel i was treated well and time was appropriate. read more

I'm honestly surprised that this place has such a low rating. Maybe I was just really lucky? I've almost always gone to Med Express because for awhile we had highmark and couldn't use UPMC facilities. Well, back in the fall I went to Med Express around 5:00 only to be told they had no appointments until two days from then and would I like to schedule. I thought the whole point of urgent care was walk in service. Anyway, I remembered this office existed and hoping to get some relief from my incessant cough and breathing issues I headed here. I desperately said "are you taking anyone still today" and was warmly greeted telling me that while you can make an appointment, they always save room for walk ins. I was taken back to a room fairly quickly and had my vitals taken along with a nose swab to test for flu, Covid and RSV. It turned out I had none of those (which I suspected because I had taken an at home Covid test) but the doctor who I met with could hear the congestion in my chest and my wheezy cough. They took a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia and when it wasn't, prescribed a steroid and inhaler to clear me up. On another visit (my doctor didn't have any openings and I was feeling really sick) I had a similarly positive experience. Attentive staff, friendly and non pandering doctors that took time to listen and figure out ways to help. I still prefer visiting my PCP but it is nice to have this as an option, especially since they have evening and weekend hours. read more

I have been to this facility twice and here again. This is where I go when I feel sick enough to go to my doctor's office but they have no appointments available for me within a day or two. I have always had a great experience from reception to the nurses to the doctor or PA seen. If I had anything life threatening or a bone potentially broken going on I would go to the ER across the street at UPMC east. This is a great place to go for general sickness purposes and necessary for me with my immune lowering meds making me catch things more easily. read more

I went to this Urgent Care earlier today as I was experiencing some heart issues from an Afib condition. I relayed this information to the receptionist and was promptly taken back for an evaluation. After an EKG was done, the practitioner then informed me that I should go to the emergency room as their facility could not assist me with a heart issue. As I had already told the receptionist that I was there because of a heart issue, I can't help but wonder why they didn't tell me this at the front desk BEFORE they took me in. Could it be because they didn't want to turn away a paying customer? Oh, well. ;-) read more

Every time I come to this urgent care are whether it's for myself or my children, we are handled with love and care. The doctors, nurses and other staff are friendly and considerate! I went there to seek help. The doctor had no clue what my issue was. Basically smiled at me said never seen it. Gave me steroids sent me on my way and charged me $125. What a croc. On my way out. I told the secretary about my disappointment. 30 minutes later I got a voicemail from the doctor on my cell phone acting all concerned with a made-up diagnosis. What a joke read more

I had made an appointment for my daughter, was the only people in the waiting room, three people walked in after us and they took two of them before us. The receptionist felt awful and the nurse that took back the Second Lady was so rude and just shrugged her shoulders after the receptionist questioned her about it. My daughter was in tears, the nurse was so rude. Aly was my daughter's nurse and was kind and tried to explain that because our appointment was at 12:20 and we checked in at 12:07 they had to wait to call us until after 12:20 they actually called us back at 12:42. Aly was kind to my daughter. However the nurse I believe Lynne??? Was so unbelievably rude. She should really be aware of her surroundings, and make sure no parents or patients are watching her before she shrugs and does rude faces like she don't give a shit. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN TEARS. They need to have a class in compassion, unbelievable. Please don't make appointments, I was told they hate appointments and it's a waste. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I took my child here for a cough that wouldn't go away. She was seen by Patty. I don't know what her qualifications are since she was always referred to as Patty, which is weird for a doctor. But who knows? When she came in, she heard her coughing and right away said it was a dry cough, so it wasn't in her chest. Never mind that the child has both a dry & a wet cough. Only thing that mattered was what Patty heard at that given time. She looked in her ears and saw that one was caked with wax. Said they'd get it flushed out and that would get rid of the coughing. The ears were flushed; she looked at them again; then said they looked good. We were sent home with an Rx for Prednisone (which I'm still not sure why since the coughing was only due to wax build up....her words) That was a few days ago. My child didn't get better. The coughing didn't stop (what a shock). And the prednisone didn't help anything, so we spent a good chunk of today at her pediatrician's office & then at the hospital getting a chest xray. The end results? She has an ear infection, is dehydrated, and has PNEUMONIA! My child could have died thanks to Patty's misdiagnosis of it only being a wax build up in her ear. Please don't take your child to this clinic. read more

I visited for some significant pain that felt to me like shingles. (I'd had them before). I did not have a rash though. I assume they thought I was looking for narcotics. Unfortunately I'd been there about 12 days before for another issue, but not pain. I admit it's unusual to go twice in three weeks. I hesitated to go, but was really painful. My Dr couldn't see me til Thursday (this was Sunday). The nurse was nice. As I waited I heard the word shingles outside the door and then laughter, which could be completely unrelated. The PA who came in all but dismissed my concerns about shingles. "It always presents with a rash" and "A second case is always in the same place as the original because it lives and moves in that specific nerve area" Fair enough. She then said she'd like to help so she'd go research a bit but wouldn't forget about me. I decided to research as well. It can reappear in a new spot. It can present without a rash, though that's rare. I know Dr Google is a bad choice but I never felt heard. In her defense, she did admit that it sounded like nerve pain. She sent a pred script to my pharmacy, but no antiviral without a rash and she can't prescribe strong pain relief, no DEA license. I know she's following her training and their policies. The issue was how I felt dismissed. Sorry so long. Sitting here hoping desperately that it resolves soon or I develop a rash. Lesson learned. Wait it out til it's gone or worsened, and save your copay. read more

The older lady at the front desk is extremely rude and just ignores people in line. I was standing there for 10 minutes and she was just glancing over and didn't say anything. If there's some other step you have to do to check in it would be nice to be told what to do instead of wasting my time and pissing me off. Or at least putting signs up would be helpful if you're lacking communication skills. Needless to say I will not be coming back here and will recommend others go elsewhere. read more

When I went there, there were only two of us in the waiting room. I was there because I was struggling to breathe. I had been sick for weeks and was already seen by my primary care. However, that treatment was not effective enough to make me comfortable with my breathing. I couldn't even talk without getting short of breath. I was on the second round of the same antibiotic and steroids, plus an inhaler and OTC meds. Nothing was working. I could take a deep breath in but not get the air out. I sit in the waiting room for at least a half an hour waiting to be seen. The receptionist had answered the phone. I heard her say "steady." I'm assuming someone called to find out how busy it was and if it was a good time to come in. I heard the receptionist say "you may have to wait a while." I wish I would have seen that place only had one star before I went in... Or would not have gone there. I was seen by the physicians assistant, who told me to take a Zyrtec. She said she could give me a different antibiotic however, I had allergies to two antibiotics and she said that doxycycline had the same coverage as the Z-Pak I was already on. I knew better. she told me if I didn't get better to go to the ER. How was I to get better with no effective treatment? I also knew I really needed a breathing treatment. However, when I asked her about it, she said they don't do breathing treatments there for adults, only for Children. It was an absolute waste of time and money. It's no wonder insurance is so high when they are paying for people to not have any treatment. And people think we have the best health care system in the world. Ha! What the physician's assistant didn't know was that I was an RN for 43yrs and I had worked an urgent care prior to moving to this area. Wow what a difference. The urgent care facility I worked at would never have left someone sitting in the waiting room for half an hour struggling to breathe and give no treatment. If someone was having trouble breathing, a nurse was called to go to the waiting room to evaluate the patient and make sure make sure they were OK. The nurse would decide whether they needed immediate treatment or or if the person could safely wait their turn in the waiting room. I saw my PCP three days later. I was given a breathing treatment in the office. I was put on doxycycline, Singulair and given breathing treatments to do at home with the nebulizer. additionally, I was to take over-the-counter medications. Shame on that Physician's Assistant at UPMC urgent care in Monroeville, PA. Oh and the urgent care I had worked at saw about 150+ patients a day. read more

Horrible !!!!! If you trust your health to this strip mall med shack...which DOES NOT HAVE ANY DOCTORS, b.t.w... after reading these reviews, you're crazy. UPMC got my original review pulled (it was definitely published, and I told UPMC management about it), so remember that there are more terrible reviews of this strip mall quack medicine outlet than you see. I went here for care because I had an insect bite that had become infected and turned into a rash. I suspected Lyme disease or one of the several equally-serious tickborne illnesses that are common here. In the waiting room, UPMC bombarded everyone's ears with constant, irritating, and LOUD. LOUD, LOUD music. The staff refused to turn it down, saying it's "UPMC policy at all UPMC facilites because it protects patient privacy". Well that is just a lie. I've been to many other UPMC facilites in recent years, and they don't play loud music at all. After a wait,an attendant of some sort took my blood pressure and got it 30 points too low because she doesn't know how to tighten the cuff properly. This error shows us that you mustn't count on being assessed correctly if you have any sort of cardiovascular...the leading cause of death in the world...medical condition. After my visit, this strip mall med shack botched my prescription arrangements over and over and over, causing a critical, additional 24-hour delay in the beginning of antibiotics for my, yes, as it turned out, Lyme disease, and Lyme Disease is a very, very serious disease which does sometimes do permanent damage and does sometimes kill people. I repeat: If you trust your health to this terrible med shack after reading these reviews, you're crazy. read more

DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE....GO TO THE ER INSTEAD.* My experience at UPMC Urgent Care Monroeville was terribly upsetting. It was an egregious mistake choosing them. The receptionist and the "edgy professional" who checked my vitals were both great, however, I can not say the same of Patricia Baird, the Nurse Practitioner. She was completely unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. Straight nasty. As a medical professional myself, I have never witnessed such behavior, even when probed and provoked by unruly, challenging patients. She was out of line and needs re-evaluated and furthermore reminded the importance of professionalism and bedside manner AT MINIMUM. Other than her rudeness, there was a major lack of care and attention to my medical concern. Reading through other reviews it seems I am not the only "patient" who has felt this way "under her care". Also, in sharing this experience with my parents, then describing Patricia to them.... they too shared a horrible experience with her and admitted she is the reason they will never return. I am certain there are others who have shared the same sentiments of Patricia and have let it go. I, however, will not because this should never happen. read more

I had a fever of 101, sore throat, tight chest, swollen tonsils and I was aching everywhere. So I was def Sick. However when I met with the PA(Jill B) she did the normal procedure. Checked my breathing (which I have been wheezing) and checked my ears and throat and told me that every thing looked normal... which obviously was not true. I then told her my twin sister had the flu last week and that's when Jill said there's nothing you can do for strep but take over the counter meds.... so I thought ok?? But my twin told me that she took tamiflu and the next day was better. When I asked Jill about getting tamiflu she said that they are saving the rations (which she said there was a lot of since flu season just began) for diabetics. Then after a back and forth discussion she finally said I can't stop you from getting it but it will only help you get better a day earlier at most. Which of course I WANT! So then I went on to tell her that my sister had pneumonia too and I would like an X-ray to check. While I'm there I'm might as well check everything. I also said I wanted a strep test. Well first she said they don't do flu or strep test cause they are only 15% accurate... I'm in shock! Then what do you do? Then after the X-ray she came back and said I was fine. So since I'm not from this area I asked for a copy of my x rays to bring home to my doctor. Jill proceeded to say the CD burner was down... I tried to work around it and said well can you email them to me? can I take a photo of them? Can I get them from another doctors office? She said NO! Without trying to help me find a resolution. Then ANOTHER PA came into the room and proceeded to tell me that JIll didn't know the CD burner didn't break... ok? Well why could Jill tell me that?! Also the other PA told me I could grab the x rays from the hospital if I needed too... once again Jill lied. So I get home and I check the pics on the CD... wellllll they weren't mine!! They gave me someone else's scans! No date time anything on them and they put my bday wrong on all documents! Needless to say don't go here!!! I have pus pockets in the back of my throat spent 130$ on prescriptions that aren't going to work for me.. oh and turns out I do have strep... this place could be a great place to go but if you go DO NOT GET JILL. She has no clue what she is doing and will give you the wrong documents, bday information, and false diagnosis! read more

If you'd like to be killed, just trust the vile filth who work at UPMC Urgent Care in Monroeville with your life. They just may oblige you. Just look at the preceding reviews. This place almost killed all four innocent people. Well, today, they may have ruined my life or killed me too. This den of quacks failed to treat me for Lyme disease, an illness I've studied for decades, today. Lyme disease is a life-threatening and life-ruining illness, and promptness is crucial in stopping it. If you let the patient's spirochete germs grow to a certain level without antibiotics, that patient may die from heart damage. Said malpractice victims may, more frequently, be irreversably crippled, in agonizing pain, unable to work, brain-damaged, and completely unable to enjoy life. I was seen a bit more than an hour after being relentlessly assaulted with an incredibly rude, irritatating, blaring TV which the staff obnoxiously refused to turn down, saying,"We don't turn the TV down for anybody; it protects patients' confidentiality * ". When I went into the exam room, I was then informed that they don't usually have one single doctor on duty. Yesterday was no exception. I showed UPMC's non-doctor a rash which I thought could be Lyme disease or a spider bite, and she said I was....probably....right. I was told that they would provide...I mean refuse to provide... antibiotics. I had to go elsewhere and pick them up at a pharmacy in PIttsburgh because they don't keep, you know, MEDICINE in this "URGENT Care" establishment any more than they keep a, you know, DOCTOR. As I walked out, the 67 Bus pulled away, not their fault, and I waited for an hour, and the next one didn't show up, not their fault. I checked online and saw that the Pittsburgh pharmacy would close before I could get there. I tried to call in but could not penetrate UPMC "Urgent" Care's Screw-you-sick-people-we-won't-let-you-talk-to-anybody phone system on my first four tries. I finally got through and told the woman who answered that I was about to miss the last bus back to Pittsburgh and be stuck in Monroeville, and she said she'd switch my prescription to the pharmacy which is pretty much.....................NEXT DOOR. So no one at UPMC "Urgent" Care ever bothers to offer even one of the multiple, you know, MEDICINE options to the, you know, SICK PEOPLE. With time running out, I rushed to the pretty-much-next-door pharmacy, waited, and was told that the woman at UPMC had botched the scrip transfer, and the only way I could get the antibiotics was to pay hundreds of dollars in cash and then try to get UPMC to pay me back. I then rushed back to catch the last bus, get sick, and die. I walked in with a Lyme Disease infection which was already five or six days old, and I'll walk to a Pittsburgh pharmacy in a few hours with a Lyme Disease infection which will be six or seven days old. I will not have been able to sleep for one single minute before I do. It's 2:45 in the morning. I'm worried sick that UPMC Urgent Care has actually killed me or done me such malpractice harm, my body and mind are being irreversibly destroyed right now. I will now work until dawn filing complaints against these monsters with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance. I WILL cc all appropriate Monroeville, City, County, State, and Federal agencies, along the offices of political officeholders at all of these aforementioned levels, and I will cc local TV, radio, and print media as well. You can do your part. Leave the UPMC system altogther, not just its fake Un-Urgent We-don't-Care Centers, but the whole vile, murderous, psychotic, filthy, evil UPMC train wreck itself. And let's get the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to stop stealing your tax dollars by funneling them to the UPMC Mob. (You do know UPMC is funded with your tax dollars, don't you?) Upon arrival I was treated in a timely fashion. The receptionist was really nice and expedient. She knew her job. The nurse who called me back was also very nice. Took my blood pressure with a smile, gave me my results, and told me that the doctor would be in shortly. That's when the whole experience went to hell in a handbag. I explained to the doctor where I was feeling pain. I told him It was a deep internal pain like it was my lungs (my exact words) he never took his stethoscope off of his neck to even check my breathing!! He told me I had shingles. I'm like dude, I don't have shingles! I've had shingles before and I actually was diagnosed in this very room! Then he said you look like you workout. I said I do. He said-- well you strained your muscle. Once again I told him, my rhomboid muscle is fine. This doctor had the nerve to tell me I strained the muscles in between my ribs! Wt(heck)! Who strains that muscle? Not to mention that he never even made physical contact to examine me. So he proceeded to write me a script for pain medication, and muscle relaxers. I went home and the pain got worse so I'm thinking that the medicine is not working so I went to the emergency room. To make a long story short I had blood clots on my lungs and my kidneys weren't functioning correctly!!! I spent two and a half days in the hospital, was told that I had just made it, or I possibly could have died, leaving out with blood thinners and needles to inject myself (another form of blood thinners), a diet of what I can and can't eat but the doctor that I depended on for answers diagnosed me with strained muscles in between my ribs.
