Absolutely wretched front desk gremlins. No empathy, all attitude and disrespect. ........... Sad.

I totally understand the rush Emergency Room people must feel in a busy day, morning, afternoon BUT sometimes you just have to wonder if they really give a "crap"about the people that come through the door. The receptionist was pleasant and took our information quickly. We didn't even sit and the unfriendly Triage Nurse came to get us. I think she maybe a very good nurse but her personally as a front contact person SUCKS!! We arrived at 9:30 am The waiting area at 10 am was a handful of people then around 11 when we finally got called into the ER it was full no seats at all people where sitting in wheel chairs. The ER resident was very friendly, helpful and answered all my questions and calmed my concerns. We were told that there are no beds in the hospital that everyone in ER is on hold. Every room was occupied. By the time we were released to go home they had filled both hall ways with parents treating them in the hallway. Busy hospital busy time of year - a lot of older people over 70 seating and waiting. Upmc East needs a big ER and another hospital wing. I am seriously considering changing health care insurance for another hospital. How do you know your getting the right kind of care with an over crowded hospital ? I really like the ER staff !! They did a good job considering.

I was serviced promptly and professionally. Xrays were taken and a doctor met with me, giving me instructions for a splint, icing, and ibuprofen. A tech brought me the splint and put it on. Besides the fraudulent billing, the care I received wasn't just lackluster, it was careless and dangerous. BILLING ISSUES I went here in December and was given a strep test (with UPMC Gold Insurance), where I paid my $50 copay and am STILL battling these inept people with random bills that they keep sending and texting to me. This is 8 months later. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone total with both UPMC and this UPMC GO Health company and it still isn't resolved. INSURANCE FRAUD? We (UPMC Health Insurance rep and I) have essentially caught them billing for bogus codes, then once questioned, they retracted saying "oh you're right" and then put through the same bogus codes again. During one phone call with a Go Health, I caught the billing supervisor in a lie (saying they don't bill through Quest Diagnostics when I have proof of a receipt I paid for the strep test.) Seriously, something really shady is going on here and I know I can't be the only one. Last I heard, they looked over the account with UPMC and agreed I should not be getting billed again. It was going to go through right this time. They were supposed to call me. Guess what? No call but I did get ANOTHER bill today. So I'll be spending more of my life on the phone because of their issues. SURPRISE BILLING In the office, I asked and was told that all I would be paying is my $50 copay. I requested to be informed if something was going to cost me more so I could consent to it. Pretty sure this is a law. OFFICE VISIT Worse than all of this is that I went there with a sore throat wanting to make sure I wasn't contagious for my big holiday market event. The doctor gave me a strep test, said it was probably viral since that came back negative, but gave me antibiotics just in case. Not thinking, but not wanting to be contagious, I took the meds. LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND CARE Turns out I probably had COVID, since the latest variant had been presenting as a very bad sore throat. I didn't know that. Guess it was on the news and public knowledge but a doctor didn't know? He didn't even bring up the possibility, even though he knew that I was about to be around thousands of people. Taking antibiotics with COVID can actually cause more harm, so what is this place, actually? Healthcare? And they keep trying to file claims for more money? UPMC knows it's bunk, so they aren't paying, but somehow this is my problem? REVIEW YOUR BILLS! I have everything documented and I plan on filing a grievance with UPMC and possibly the Attorney General. If they are doing this to me, what are they doing to people who don't think and just pay? And if they are committing insurance fraud this will in turn raise our insurance rates. Please use caution and review your bills from this place.

My daughter brought me to the ER and, after a thorough checkup (including a CAT scan {I'd fallen several times so this was a precaution}), they kept me overnight and discharged me the next day. While I was home I was still a little unbalanced and so, as I tried to go to the basement to have access to my car, I fell down the basement stairs but, thank God, I had my LifeAlert on and they came, picked me up off the floor and they Took me back to UPMC Monroeville East where I received a full body check and another CAT scan of my head and neck. Miraculously i didn't break anything. The care received at your facility was beyond the expected. Every person - bar none - was helpful, cheerful, professional and very special. At one point I was struggling to eat my lunch due to angle of the tray and my inability to sit up properly. A nurse I'd never seen before came into my room, said she was just passing and saw me struggling so she came to help!! To me that was above and beyond good service! Congratulations on a beautiful facility and, most especially, a staff of exceptional people truly dedicated to the best service possible! -

But by the end, the emergency room was completely full about 12 other people went in doctors check them out we even asked when we would be seen next. The lady said she was getting our room ready. We wait another four people then ask where is our room then they say they never said there was a room ready I ask. well, how do you guys judge the procedures based on who gets treatment first I'm just curious at this point next thing I know the security guard is telling me I have to go almost getting physical with me because I'm trying to figure out if my girlfriend's going to pass out or not, so I leave to take my girlfriend somewhere else they don't take her IV out and the second we got to another hospital. They told us how bad it was To have an IV in and tachycardic and high fever please if you have any family members or loved the ones that you actually care about I highly suggest you do not take them to this when we took her to the other hospital, they saw her instantly all of our saying this is extremely serious so my question is why is this incompetent OK?

I visited the emergency room because of a rash/illness. After some research, my symptoms aligned with Lyme Disease. I was fatigued and in severe pain. The staff were very helpful and supportive throughout my visit. It started with checking my vitals and getting bloodwork done. Then I was sent back to a bed when available. There I met with the Physicians Assistant Kiley. She was great! Very thorough and knowledgeable. Answered all questions I had and ordered a chest X-ray to be sure that pneumonia had not set in. Even though the emergency room may take more time I know now that an Urgent Care Center would not have been so thorough with my care. They are more like a drive thru office compared to a full service facility! Nobody is ever happy with a trip to the hospital but Forbes is bearable and never had any complaints.

I've been to Forbes for blood work, the surgery center, xrays, the cancer center and the emergency department. The closest to a negative experience was the ED and honestly, the staff there were great, it was just a crazy long wait. (Forbes is a trauma center, so the amount of people in the ER waiting room is not a great indication of how long you might wait). For example, I was there with my daughter. When the intake person realized just how long we would likely be waiting, they contacted Children's Hospital for us, got us in the line there and made sure we had things like emesis bags for the drive over. Every department I've been in the staff has been courteous, empathetic and attentive. The hospital itself is well maintained and clean. Obviously no one really wants to go to a hospital, but I feel fortunate that we have such a great option so close to home.
