Don't break your hand (oops), hurt your wrist, fracture your arm, etc. If, god forbid, you do injure your upper extremity, I recommend Dr. Tsai at Upper Hand Ortho. He will not cut you, unless he thinks you need it. He also has certified hand therapists on staff to help you get back to functioning and using your upper extremity. I say certified hand therapists, because they receive extra training in the hand/wrist. Before coming to see Greg here at Upper hand Ortho, I saw another occupational therapist who was not a CHT. However, she works in an office where there is ONE hand therapist and that somehow makes it okay. I practice manipulative medicine, so my hands are my livelihood. I could not risk it. I'm sure she had some training, but no. Back to Greg, he has a ton of experience (previously taught) and I feel very lucky I landed in his care. He does a thorough evaluation and very knowledgeable on hand anatomy. My healing has been very painfully slow, but with Dr. Tsai and Greg on my care team, I'm hopeful I will recover. At one point, we were not getting the improvement we were hoping for, so Greg sent me back to the surgeon. He made that choice because OT is expensive and he didn't want to spend unnecessary money with no positive outcomes. I appreciate that the providers take a patient-centered care approach. read more
