This place is a total gem! Full transparency--I bring my grandson here, so this review is all about his experience. We always see Erik, and honestly? We love it. Erik works by appointment, so there's no waiting around. He's always got a big smile for us, and the haircut? Always . My little guy is all about the designs and literally says--and I quote--"He never misses." The shop is clean, welcoming, and has a great vibe... even though we keep to ourselves and don't really chat with the other barbers. EDITED - contacted by owner and realized my review was solely based on an individual and no reflection of the shop. The shop is indeed top notch as far as I can tell from my one visit. It has an area for kids or anyone really to shoot basketball and stay busy while waiting. All barbers were booked up and busy. Even though they had no time for a walk-in, the other barbers all greet clients with a smile and have professional etiquette. Oh and they were all wearing a shirt that represents the brand UpperCuts. That's another great thing you don't see with young men everyday but they do it there. - END EDIT I've only been one time. The next morning I received a text saying it would be better if I went elsewhere from now on. I guess my $35 tip wasn't enough for the girl. If I tipped $100 every time like Mr. Poe from Grand Prairie Ford, I'd probably be able to get my haircut and beard trim there but I don't. With the price of haircuts these days, I can no longer give that kind of gratuity. I took my son to get a haircut after he grumped about super clips not giving him what he wanted. He's turning 12 and wanted a more stylish look. We got in last minute in the evening before thanksgiving which did cost a bit more but it's convenience worth paying for. If you schedule ahead of time and not on a night prior to a holiday the rates are better. It's a cool vibe, nice place. Now my son and his dad go there. read more

Great place, great atmosphere, great group of guys, great prices. Mark did an amazing job! My hair cut was perfect and my beard has never looked better. Mark Took his time and had no rush about it. I can't stand when I'm getting a hair cut and they're trying to set a new speed record while I'm in the chair. Definitely not the case here! I noticed no one was in that situation and the place was packed. Im not close to the barber and couldn't care less how long the drive is. I'm done looking for a barber anymore! I have frequented the shop several times, and walk ins are not suggested... Everyone with clippers CAN'T cut. My last experience, the skillz of the "barber" were elementary at most, and overcharged especially for the services rendered. They are quick to put anybody in a chair even if you are being used like a" test car dummy", patrons are using their hard earned money for a service with expectations, that the provider can render, but my last experience was the complete opposite, tapper was terrible, and line up or edge wasn't to be found.. This place is a true example of a hometown boy growing up and building a business to give back to the community he grew up in. Anthony Cano makes sure that his shop will be the only barbershop you go to after your visit. Service: All 6-7 barbers can cut hair, and I would let anyone of them cut mine and/or my 9 year old son's hair. Each and every one of them has their own style of cutting and "area of expertise" but they all can cut and has great attention to detail. These guys keep up (if not start) with the latest trends so you'll always come out fresh even if you didn't know what kind of cut you initially wanted. The guys are highly educated in this field, licensed through the state, and have put their time in behind the clippers to ensure the best cut possible each and every time. I would recommend that you go in a week earlier (if you've never been) to get one of their business cards to make an appointment. They have a solid clientele base with reservations, so walk-ins do wait a little longer...but will be accommodated for. This is not a "ghetto" barbershop where every other word is a curse word and you have thugs smelling like weed cutting your kids hair. There is nothing but respect for one another, and to each customer here. Although you'll have the occasional "barbershop" talk, it's nothing that has to be filtered based on who's sitting around waiting for a cut. Decor/Waiting area: Retro themed shop, expressed with grey/black colors. Plenty of seats to wait for your cut, and Anthony will even pull out more chairs for customers on a busy weekend (yes, they get that busy BUT an appointment helps). They also sell juices, waters, gatorades, and sometimes nice cold adult beverages are offered when you're needing one after work. Chips are also available, with a Subway, and Whataburger within walking distance. Price: Ranges from $15-$20 depending on the barber, adult/kid, designs, edge up, etc.... That, or go get an $8 cut at Great Clips (remember, you get what you pay for). Location: Conveniently located in the heart of Grand Prairie on 303, easily accessible from I-30/I-20/Loop 12/360. Be aware, they give you a free drink in exchange of good review. Anyways, I just went there today based on the reviews and I left very disappointed. If you don't know the barbers you could end up with a bad haircut. When I got there there was four barbers cutting hair. They all seem to cut very well. I was loving it until another barber showed up and with my bad luck one of the barbers (seems to be the main one) sent me to him. After about an hour of cutting my hair he gave me the mirror and to my disappointment he did not do good. It is worse than my Army haircuts on Post. I don't think it could have been fixed so I didn't say anything. Needless to say I will not be going back. I will try my luck somewhere else. Good luck. read more
