This was my first experience with Alton's barber shop and i scheduled my cut today with Danny. Danny came in right at 12 and seemed to be still in a rush from coming in right at (what i assume is her scheduled time to start work) at 12. i didn't mind it much and looked past it. when she asked what i wanted i asked her very straight forward, "low taper fade rounded on the back and cut half of existed hair on top and texturize". she proceeds to ask me "do you want it short to where skin shows?" which i responded "no skin showing, i don't like my hair too short" closer to the end of the cut when she turned me around towards the mirror i was kind of in shock to see how much she actually cut off. the last 10 minutes i notice she kept cutting shorter and shorter the same area she went over before, making me think she's fixing a mistake. regardless, she was a very sweet woman, but she did not cut my hair how i asked her. the front of my hair is now uneven, on the sides there is no fade in sight, and she didn't even texturize the top since she cut it so short. the shop looked cool. but most likely will not be coming back. gonna be wearing a hat for the next few weeks ): read more

I normally get my hair cut by either Danny, Moses, or Daunya but I've had the opportunity to chat a little with everyone during my haircuts. Everyone is so kind and easy to talk with. The haircuts are also amazing!! I'm extremely picky when it comes to my hair and everyone listens and makes sure that my hair is the way I want it. If you're looking for a barbershop to call home for years to come, this is definitely your place. I've been come to Mike since 2015 and before that since 2013 to the shop where I bounced around a few barbers before landing on him. All of the barbers they have are top quality so you won't be disappointed. It's always a chill vibe, normally a movie on, and good conversation. As I was coming on to write a review after getting my haircut this morning, I noticed a few recent negative reviews that as a long time patron I felt compelled to address, albeit wasn't expecting see from my experience here... One of them looked like it was from a guy causing commotion this morning in and around the shop. I was waiting outside for my appointment and overhead this guy hitting on one of the female barbers in a very sleazy way and then when I went in he was griping at the owner Mike about not taking him as a walk-in even though the guy made an appointment for a different day. I was around when all this was happening and definitely didn't hear any of that other stuff contained in the review. I've come in on the wrong day before too so I get it, but it's not the barbershops fault, and they send at least 3-4 notifications prior to your appointment letting you know it's coming up, reconfirming the date/time, and asking you to confirm you'll still make it. I can tell you that you need to make appointments well in advance of the day you want your haircut because they have a deep clientele who have been coming to this place and the respective barbers for a long time. Most of whom book their next appointment as they are laving the current one. Also, this is one of the most diverse and tolerant barbershops you will find who do quite a bit to give back to the local community, primarily for kids and the less fortunate. The thing I appreciate about Alton's is that it's not a barbershop that's an echo chamber of view points, it's a place where you can have conversations about anything under the sun. These are the reasons I've been a patron for most of the last decade. As someone who calls Alton's barbershop home, I can't stand for people disparaging a quality family owned establishment, especially one that has made it through this lockdown to come out on the other side, still employ it quality staff, and serve it's long time clients as well as the community it sit's within. read more

If you need your big, beautiful beard maintained properly, look no further. Receiving a face shave from here can only be described as therapeutic. They lean you back in the chair and put a hot towel on your face to soften your skin and hair follicles so it's easier to shave.
