Tried Upper Tea for the first time after church, looking for a quick breakfast, and overall it was a great experience--with a small surprise at the start. I originally ordered through DoorDash thinking it was a traditional dine-in spot, but when I arrived, I realized the restaurant is currently closed for renovations and operating out of a food truck outside. Just a heads up: ordering through DoorDash isn't really worth it here--the prices are higher, and it's actually cheaper to order in person. There was a bit of a wait and a long line, but the staff was clearly working hard to keep things moving. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference. Now for the food--it was excellent. I cleaned my plate completely. One order was French toast sticks, scrambled eggs, and Beyond Meat (which I accidentally ordered, but honestly couldn't even tell it wasn't real meat). The second plate was grits, eggs, and salmon croquettes. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. I have no complaints at all and would definitely go back. Just be prepared for the food truck setup and consider ordering in person instead of through an app! read more

Wonderful food. They were busy the whole time we were there and it shows why. The French toast was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The grits were fluffy cheesy perfection. Chicken was very well breaded and delicious (but could have been cooked 30 sec longer). We ate from their truck out front while they were remodeling and are excited to come back for the excellent food and visit the restaurant when they're done. Def check out this gem! read more

I was in the area and decided to stop in here. It's a small but mighty establishment. When I got in there were two young girls up from in deep conversation. So I asked if I needed to place my order on the kiosk. She said yea. I will never understand how you're new to a place and they want you to ring yourself up. I ended up ordering French toast with a side of grits. Now the French toast came with eggs and your choice of meat. On the French toast they put this sauce, which to me was super sweet. It looked like some type of glaze and syrup. And I'm very picky with my syrup. I would order it again without that glaze. The eggs were fluffy and the grits were delicious. They were creamy and had a great flavor. I also ordered the tea of the day which was a blueberry ginger mango tea. It was perfection I can't wait to have that again. Alrighty let's get right to it. We were suggested by this place by some of the locals. Let me tell you this place did not disappoint, from the service to the food I mean absolutely banger. Lets dive right in we walked in with a welcoming vibe. A chill laid back music in the background with pictures on the walls, did I mention the owner is a Marine?! We were greeted by the lady taking our order we informed her this was our first time and sorry for all the questions. She told me they had Shrimp & Grits (My Favorite) it was delishhhhhhhhh I mean that the shrimp were huge! The flavor was amazing my wife even allowed to have a piece of her maple chicken and I added to my meal and let me tell you gave me the "sleepy Itis" (IYKYK). My wife and daughter had the chicken & waffles and theirs was equally delish they both ate it all, when we make our way back into the area we will definitely be back to experience this food again it is a must have! 10/10 definitely would drive for this. read more

What an amazing, southern breakfast. The grits eggs, chicken, salmon croquettes, everything tasted fantastic. The restaurant decor was lovely. They had many colorful paintings, pictures, and canvases. I especially appreciated the vintage pay phone, and record player that they had on display. The service was very good. It does take a while for your food to come out but that's because they make everything fresh as it's ordered. Overall, a 9 out of 10 experience. read more

Everything was amazing!! Upon entry, you're greeted with tea cups and portraits that resemble a museum. It's so comfy and cozy in there with couches and even a huge connect 4 game. I was tasked with providing a meal for the Miami Community Police Benevolent Association (MCPBA) as part of a collaborative effort with the Community Affairs Section of the City of Miami Police Department for the unveiling of the Black History Month marked Police vehicle. Having recently visited UpperTea , I saw where they now provide BRUNCH. I say now because when Janee first opened, she was and still is Miami's only Black-owned tea Cafe. New to here bruch products, I asked for her best sellers and have mercy, I tasted why they are her best sellers! The selections were all deliciously seasoned. We had catered: turkey sausage, pork sausage, bacon, corned beef, grits, UpperTea tots, scrambled eggs, and toast. The drinks provided were: Strawberry Peachy Mango, Blueberry Watermelon, and Strawberry Mint.​ Since I did not eat the meat choices, I requested an order of her salmon croquettes...You simply MUST stop by to place your order. You will not be disappointed. Some of the attendees came in to the community room where the meal was being served saying, "He said the grits were good." There was little to no food left.
