The main reason I'm writing this is because I don't appreciate ignorant trolls. M. K. and Mike T. both posted poor reviews, here is a point by point analysis of their ignorance. This is for M.K.'s response: 1. Your response to rumors you heard was to spread more rumors, sorry sir but that just makes you as big an idiot as the people you were listening to. 2. Conveniently you don't remember anyone's names that could corroborate your story thus your evidence is invalid and likely fabricated. 3. You're an even bigger ignoramus because if you go on the internet and look up Excel Defense Studios it clearly says the owner's name is James Miranda. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. This training facility is located in North Las Vegas off of commerce and centennial parkway. I've been going to the gym for a little under 6 months now and I've got to say, I have never felt so welcomed and so comfortable in a mixed martial arts gym before, every time I walk in there the coach remembers my name. And the people are trained with have a wide range of experience so I can learn from everyone and everyone treats everybody like family. I bring my son here and he plays with the other little kids while the classes go on and they have a great wrestling program for beginners, the kids program is great for them to start a discpline and they always have fun doing it. I recommend anyone who is looking to get in shape and feel the most comfortable doing it to come pop in and try a free class. They offer free passes for people who wanna test it out. So theres nobpressure, there isnt any sales people upfront so your not obligated to join if you don't like it, but thatll be hard because this place is the best seriously. I have 12 year old twin boys and they wanted to learn martial arts and go to a gym and so I took them to this gym and we watched for few minutes and then I signed them up...Since I work until late my wife was the one who took the boys..After couple trips she told me that the boys were not happy....Luis had a couple assistants and the boys liked them, but did not like Luis..The boys asked luis if they could just work with the assistant coaches and he told my my boys "one trainer, only one trainer". I told boys to hang in there and see how goes..But they were not happy.I went to watch them work out and it seemed that Coach luis has some personal issues of divorce that spilled into workout session and the boys said that luis super happy one day and upset on other days..He started classes 20 min late many times as well..We didnt connect with coach luis at all and so we left the gym..Now at another gym and boys love it..The boys were not comfortable at the gym...Where ever you go good luck and check reviews first.. i have subscribe to many gyms in my life always just focusing on weight loss....try and burn pounds fast! i always turn on quitting on 1st month and or maybe sometimes on just a couple of sessions because of lack of motivation,techniques,same routines etc.... Here at Uprising MMA Traning Center I've learn to push my self to the extreme! I'll soon go on my 3th month working out with experience coaches. This friendly family atmosphere, is very motivational makes you feel to want to keep coming back, plus time schedules are grate! I've work out new routines every week. I've tried new classes like boxing, strength and conditioning just to mention some. The experience has been superb I'm learning self defense, knowledge on body training, confidence, respect, better eating, new routines and techniques here at Uprising. I'm now healthier and stronger, both physically and mentally. Now i can focus on having a healthier life for me and my kids! i also love that my kids can play while i work out. AWESOME GYM!!! I have trained martial arts on and off since I was 8 years old and as an adult I have trained at 4 different gyms (Muay Thai/ MMA) in Las Vegas but hadn't trained in a long time and just started at Uprising and I love training there...I've never put a lot of time into boxing and when I started at Uprising I had so many bad habits which in less than two months Luis (head striking coach/owner) has already dramatically improved my boxing...not only is Luis a great guy, he is very technical and knowledgable...Luis also has the most reasonable prices I've seen at any gym (both for membership and privates)...My wife whom fought many times and has trained Muay Thai for over 15 years also loves Uprising and we both think its a great atmosphere...anyone who talks bad about Luis or his gym is just a hater or hasn't really been there. Without a doubt the BEST place to train in all of north Las Vegas, I have a friend who has trained under the main boxing instructor Luis, (who is one of the most friendly, genuine people I've ever met) for a short period of time and surpassed a second degree black belt in sparring. Not only are there boxing and Muay Thai and judo and jiu jitsu classes but they also have crossfit and a family friendly game room for kids! Definitely a must for kids that are looking for something to do over summer and parents and everyone for that matter that want to learn the arts of mma and to overall better themselves in a physical manner definitely the number one gym in Las Vegas I would recommend and the most affordable with the amount of classes they carry, it's unbelievable how good this place is read more

I was always nervous when it came to trying out new things such as Kick Boxing, so when I first signed up for this gym I was worried I was going to feel like I can't fit in. However, I am truly thankful for the owner and head coach, Luis, for making me feel welcomed to this gym even though I had absolutely no idea how to Kick box at the time. Eventually I got MORE into the Jiu Jitsu classes and the coach, Jonah, is also very compassionate about teaching everyone in the classes. I am really thankful that I chose this gym, because not only are the people there are like a family to me, but they push me to become better and I had gained a lot confidence because of that. Uprising provides a great and clean facility that provides all the tools needed and more. Friendly and family type atmosphere with great instructors and knowledge in boxing, judo, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, strength and conditions and all around self-defense. There is no better instructor in town then Luis he takes the time with all of his students and genuinely cares about the work he does, the knowledge he gives off will always have you wanting to come back as soon as you leave. This gym is awesome. They have a great kids program. It's one of the only gym's that offer a free women's Jiu jitsu class. Also a ton of classes to choose from like judo,wrestling,boxing, and more. With an experienced training staff. Luis is a fantastic trainer. He takes the time to work with people individually and he's an actual genuine human being. I have learned so much from working with Luis. My MMA career speaks for it's self and I was trained by Luis. I was scammed by one of the employees here. I believe his name is Joshua Trejo. He helped a scammer on instagram named @megan___fxx__ scam me out of 3k dollars. I've been to this gym so I thought I could trust him because he seemed like an honest person. He told me to trust the "investor" and follow there steps but after I gave the investor the money through the bitcoin app with ethurium she ended up blocking me and I told Joshua about it and he also blocked me. So he is a deceptive person and I think this is a bad look for the gym to have a guy like this. Please beware. read more

I've been a member of this place since it opened, and it's one of those gyms people will need to keep an eye out for. Even though it's fairly new, you could see the high quality of it in its instructors, students, and owner. And as far as the owner Luis being terrible, in my opinion he is what makes the gym strong. When he teaches, his genuine passion for the arts is apparent in each and every class. If you're still second guessing and you rather read about the gym in yelp, knock yourself out. What a great place!! I've been looking for a new place to train because I didn't like the direction my old gym was going. Uprising has a friendly, clean atmosphere. The trainers are very experienced, knowledgeable and didn't act like they were Gods gift to MMA. Anyway, great place, great price and the training received from Luis was amazing. Uprising MMA training center is a excellent gym to learn boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, judo, BJJ, strength and conditioning. After training with Luis (the owner) I have lost 30 pounds and learned fighting techniques that work in real fight situations. Luis has a wealth of knowledge and is a wonderful trainer. Great gym, if your looking to get into shape or learn the correct technique. MMA Uprising is a great gym. Also great for kids!! I got invited to a free women boxing class on Monday's and loved it. I am not experienced at all when it comes to boxing and they work with me to make sure I am doing the technique correctly and answer any questions that I have.
