Story time about TNR Roofing aka T&R Roofing. Contractor is Ronnie Moore and GF or Partner in crime…read moreTheresa Stergo. I found them on Facebook while looking for some competing roof/chimney bids. Figured I'd call and get an estimate for a chimney repair and small amount of shingles replaced after the wind took them down. Ronnie answered the number plastered everywhere and sounded knowledgeable and his prices seemed reasonable. I wasn't looking for much. He and Theresa, (I assume, woman who was present during the work but I never spoke with), came out, gave an estimate and said he could go grab materials and get it done today. He also said he would offer a "roof warranty" after doing a thorough assessment, fix any nail pops, gutter flow issues, etc. Altogether the price wasn't cheap, but felt appropriate, (given the work was solid). I also asked him to replace a vent boot. No payment until work was done, and he provided a "contract." Well, the work wasn't really superb but I felt it worked well enough and the warranty was a large part of the cost. My roof is getting older and having a guy on speed-dial for small fixes was worth it. Anyway, after he was done we chatted and things seemed mainly in order, so I paid him via Zelle and Cashapp since Zelle imposes limits for new transfers. Anyway, a day or so later I went outside and found to top half of the chimney cap he installed in my yard. I also saw how the nailheads in the repairs were reflecting sunlight, meaning they were all exposed. I also climbed on the lower roof and saw issues that even I knew weren't great for water infiltration around the boot. Ronnie replied to my text about the cap very apologetically and said he'd be out the next day. He also claimed the nail heads weren't a big deal because they are "sealed from underneath," but he agreed to caulk over them per my request. His messages also always showed read receipts, so I knew he was seeing all messages. None of the repairs happened and he never returned. Basically what followed was a few weeks of back and forth texts and excuses. This culminated in a text about an injury Ronnie got on another job. It was a photo with a mildly bloody forehead claiming he was hit by a ladder and once he was out of the hospital he would be back. I continued being understanding and cordial, (I know what a bad concussion feels like). After this he stopped replying, (but reading all messages). After another 2 weeks I sent a message explaining how this silence was a problem, etc. An hour later my phone rang. It was Theresa. She was very apologetic and explained the injury Ronnie sustained had been causing them a lot more problems than initially thought. She said in 1-2 more weeks they should be back and getting me taken care of. This appeared like a green flag at the time... So I gave them over 3 weeks. Resumed texting, but no replies, (read receipts still there). After 2 weeks I messaged Theresa via the number she called from. No reply but saw the read receipt with her as well. After another week or 2 I decided to call. Ronnie's phone went to VM, but Theresa picked up! She sounded confused, didn't remember the job but said she would look it up and call back. She claimed she was in Cleveland with her mom in the hospital. Her tone of voice seemed mostly indifferent, almost bothered. After the call, I noticed her read receipts disappeared. Based on this and her tone, (and literally everything else up to now), I knew I was blocked and I would not hear from them again. I also looked further and noticed the weird inconsistencies in their name and graphics/logo, etc. The phone number is associated with a few different people, at least in the past. Both Ronnie and Theresa show up on cashapp, Ronnie on Zelle, but some other name from years ago shows on Venmo. I've reported them wherever I can and am looking into other avenues. Obviously DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I may be able to get after them as I think they're fairly new to this grifting game... but we will see. I have a ton of "receipts," and these people need stopped before they hit too many others.

I do not recommend this business. They are posting on Facebook that they do roofing, car body…read morerepair, asphalt repair. I hired them for car body repair and the work not great and the guy was pretty emotional about being paid and being very disrespectful.

A few days later, Kevin followed up to check on the roof, pick up any remaining nails, and answer all my questions. Newman Roofing has less of a Yelp presence than on other sites. My kid had a leaky roof and was…read morewading through all the options. You've seen the circulars and the signs in yards. But is the company reputable? And do you really want to go with a relatively new company even if is owned by your buddy. He decided, no. Newman is competitive with hundreds of 5 star reviews. He went with Newman. Subsequently we had a hail storm and neighbors were advising us to get our roof checked out. Our roof was 20 years old. I wanted to be honest with the insurance company and not submit a claim unless Tyler from Newman, who came out to give us an estimate, was sure we needed a new roof and we suffered damage beyond normal wear and tear. Plus we had 2 houses. Well one needed a new roof and the other one likely has another couple of years left. As an aside, if you turn in a claim to your insurance company, even if it is denied, you risk higher premiums or cancelation. That is why it is important to have Newman Roofing spend time assessing. In our case, our roof was more wear and tear with minimal hail. Dan and his guys were on time, even early. Weather has consistently been in the mid 90's. I was worried. But Newman keeps them well supplied with hydration. 14 man crew meant lots of vehicles, even a dump truck but they were minimally disruptive to our neighbors. Furniture moved, netting put up to minimize construction mess on house and garden areas. And then they went to work. All I can say is WOW. I am so pleased. When they were finished, the cleaned up all the mess, including using a magnetized thing for nails in driveway, patio and grass. The yard, the patio, the driveway, the porches are SPOTLESS. I highly highly highly recommend Newman Roofing. They did my kid's. They did this roof and in 2 years they will do our other roof. Price is good too.
