If I could give Dr. Neal zero stars, I would. He operated a MOHS above the hairline and was so careless and negligent - as was his stitching PA Mike Dulay - that the wound healed and scarred over so there's a bald patch now instead of stitching it properly where the hair can grow back again. I feel like this is stitching 101 in medical school. I know there are very few rare instances where the scalp can't be stitched together, but by and large, it's not only possibly but COMMONLY DONE so that the scalp is brought together again so hair can grow unhindered. Now there's permanent irreparable damage done and there's nobody to answer to because it's not severe enough of a deformity to warrant a medical malpractice lawsuit, but believe me I explored that option. Do yourself a favor and STEER FAR AND CLEAR from Upstate Dermatology for EVERYTHING other than simple, standard, common issues that their staff can handle. Seriously, I would be suing if I could. Zero stars ought to be an option. I had an appt. at 10:00 in the morning. I arrived at 9:50 and was issued into an examination room. By 10:30 I was tired of waiting. No-one had poked their head into the room even once to apologize for or explain the delay. That was already a delay of FORTY minutes early in the day, at 10:00. Either very bad scheduling or simply greedy. So after waiting for FORTY minutes, I decided to just leave. I'd had enough. When I opened the door of the room I was in, there was the doc sitting at a desk doing paper work. If this were my practice, I would, first, have kept me informed about the delay, and, having totally failed at that, I would have called me, the patient, when I'd arrived home to apologize and say that maybe we could reschedule. But, NO, NOTHING. Nothing except billing my insurance company for an appointment that ended up not happening. These people are among the rudest I've ever encountered. They care not a whit about the patients, only about the money. read more

The waiting area is clean and neat, and I appreciated the selection of papers and magazines to read--high quality, although the wait time was not long enough for me to finish my reading! Arrived for our appointment and was told our appointment was an hour later than it was. Couldn't wait and had to reschedule. Came back for our rescheduled appointment only to wait 40 minutes in the waiting room before having to leave again. While we waited, we heard THREE other patients discuss similar mix-ups, long wait times, and wrong appointment times. This place is a shit-show and they certainly don't care who stays or goes. I just visited the Chatham office of UHV Dermatology, and what an outrageous waste of time and money it was. I called for an appointment to see a dermatologist. According to their website and the paperwork I filled out at the office, the dermatologist at this location is Anthony Neal Gregory, MD. I wanted to see a dermatologist because of some strange and painful blistering on my fingers. I was eventually led to an examining room, where a nurse asked me what my problem was today. I told her I wanted to see what the doctor might make of the blistering on my hands. At that point, and for the first time in the process with this office, I was told that I was going to be seen by a nurse practitioner, not an MD. Jump ahead 15 minutes- I was examined by a very nice Family Nurse Practitioner, who told me about her cats, and mentioned 3 or 4 times that I should use sunscreen every day. And what about the odd blisters on my hands? She had not a clue what they were, and just told me to rub some steroidal cream on my fingers. What an unethical bait and switch! When a patient calls to make an appointment with a doctor, and the only available appointment is with a nurse practitioner, the patient should be informed of this at the outset. I was never told that that was the case. I had a choice of dermatology offices to call, and if I had known there was no doctor available at this one, I would never have made an appointment, and wasted my money, and the 2+ hours the whole process took. I called to make an appointment for an infected 2nd degree burn and possible skin cancer. I had basal cell carcinoma last year and may have more. The receptionist told me I could only requst one thing to be looked at. She said they only like to spend 15 minutes per day on each person. She said I would have to choose which was more important and make a separate appointment for the less important. Obviously I am getting a different dermatologist. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never in my 43 years of life felt more uncomfortable. I had an appointment to speak with someone about my problem with the sun. I've had this problem for years and when it first started I had seen a dr who gave me a diagnosis. I have since dealt with this problem on my own treating it with tons of hydrocortisone cream but I remember when I first got my diagnosis years ago that the dr had given me a prescription cream and it worked wonders. Since this was years ago and my memory is bad and I couldn't remember the name of that specific dr. I went to this location since I had been there previously for skin cancer removal. Upon his entering of the exam room nurse practitioner Michael Dulay was far from what I would call patient friendly but it's life and that sometimes happens. But never have I had a Dr or a nurse practitioner make me feel so uncomfortable for just asking for a cream to put on my skin for when I do have an allergic reaction. I had pics saved on my phone showing him exactly what happens. He then told me I need to avoid the sun completely under no circumstances from certain times of the day. Well I need to work and my job will not allow that specific sun time avoidance. I also told him almost every sun block I have used breaks me out. Again he acted like he could of cared less and said you just need to avoid the sun. I cannot give you a prescription for a problem I'm not seeing right now. He then said you want a script for a preventative and the preventative is no sun. Again no sun isnt an option for me and I mentioned the pics I showed him. He then made a chuckle and said they could be anyone's pics. By that time I was so offended and holding back tears that I just said lets forget this and how I'll be calling my insurance company and he said go ahead and call them, I still seen you and swung open the exam room door so fast that I had to put my foot there or it would of hit me. You could clearly see how angry he was and I couldn't understand why. If anyone should of been angry it should of been me with how awful he made me feel. You would of thought I was asking for a narcotic the way he carried on when all I wanted was something a bit stronger then hydrocortisone cream that I've been using. I dont cry often but I will say I walked out of there crying and on the drive home. There could be no dermatologists left in the capital district and I still would never ever step foot in the Chatham location. read more

I had a new patient appointment at the schodack branch today. The front end staff were very friendly and patient. The nurse that brought me back was Professional and made me feel at ease. I saw Kelly the NP who was very professional and knowledgable. She listened patiently to my concerns and never made me feel rushed or not listened to. I would highly recommend. read more

I have been a patient at the Schodack office for over a year, being seen for acne. I was pleased up until I waited in the examination room for over 45 minutes and was not seen. I had to leave for work and when I told the receptionist I did not see the doctor, she did not seem to care what I had to say about a refund. So I called the office manager only to get a voicemail. Weeks went by without a call back and I had already called my insurance to file a complaint and had my copay disputed, as I was informed to do so by my insurance. Then I received a call from the office manager. Didn't seem too friendly, he listened and I asked if I could set up a new appointment to be seen. He said "Someone will get back to you" and hung up. A month goes by and I receive a letter from my insurance stating that they spoke to the office manager and basically he had told the insurance representative that I had lied about the whole thing. And gave the representative wrong information, giving the insurance company the reason to believe I lied. It was my word against theirs. And man, do I feel violated. All I wanted to do was see the doctor and discuss my acne treatments, but instead I got jipped. All I have to say is wow! I really see that they treat their patients like crap!! And on the plus side, they charged me a $30 refund fee as well as charged me for the visit, for which I was never seen! What a disgrace of a doctor's office is all I have to say. Patients are nothing but dollar signs to these people! If I were you, take your time and money elsewhere. I feel violated as a patient. read more

The receptionist asked, over the phone, for all my medical insurance info, my address, phone, dare of birth,,,, when I said I was reluctant to give the numbers on my Medicare card, because it was my social. She said well if you don't you're not getting an appt..... So I complied,,,, I showed up for my appt time,,,, ONLY TO BE TOLD....! YOUR APPT IS NEXT WEEK! I really feel this receptionist did this intentionally! This was also after insisting to see the Dr and not the PA! Your office staff reflects the dr! I WILL NEVER BE TREATED LIKE THAT! I visited the Schodack office recently and am still trying to get over how rude both the nurse and Nurse Practitioner were. Upon calling me in for my appointment, the nurse called me by the wrong name. When I tried to correct him to assure he had the correct file, he just continued to walk ahead of me, not acknowledging what I was saying. I actually thought he must have a hearing issue but now realize he was just being rude. When we got into the room, he confirmed he had the correct file, however, never acknowledged in any way that he made a mistake. He then proceded to be "sarcastic" and almost condescending about my daughter needing warts removed. Then made a comment that it was good my appointment would be quick as it was the end of the day. Like that all wasn't bad enough... When the NP came into the room, the first thing she said was for my daughter to get off of the examining table (my daughter also had an appointment) and mine didn't warrant me sitting on the table. She then proceeded to say to me before even knowing what my appointment was for..."YOU need a head to toe skin check." (SHE had given me one a mere 8 weeks ago). When I started telling her that, she began talking over me and asked me what SPF I was using as I was way too tan, rolled her eyes like she didn't believe when I told her SPF 50, lectured me and humiliated me about my freckled skin (I am in my 40's and well aware of my freckled skin), continued on saying every freckle is nothing but skin damage and I have basically done this to myself. (I don't disagree, however I have had freckles since I was 5 years old AND I am aware I have skin damage which is why I have smartly chosen to see a dermatologist regularly!!!) At this point, hasn't even asked me why I am there. Continues on by saying "I don't mean to scare you, but I am going to scare you." regarding the possibility of having skin cancer. Now...anyone who goes to a dermatologist or any doctor for that matter with their health in question is already nervous or scared. Was that REALLY an appropriate thing to say...in front of my daughter none the less! When I was finally able to tell her why I was there in the first place (a mark on my skin that had been there for about 7 weeks that I just wanted looked at) she said she would have to freeze it since "I had waited months to come in." MONTHS??? I just said I noticed it the end of May! MONTHS? She proceeded to pick up the can of nitrice oxide and sternly said "DON"T flinch even though this is going to hurt" Told me if the mark didn't go away in 4 weeks, she would have to biopsy it for skin cancer since I had let myself get tan it was a strong possibility." That is how I was left...me petrified I have skin cancer...and my daughter literally in tears having witnessed this treatment by a "professional" to her Mom and thinking her Mom has cancer. She did not even want to stay for her appointment...thankfully it was with a different person!! As we walked out of the office after our appointments, my daughter said she thought she was having an anxiety attack. I couldn't get to our car fast enough. I am DONE at this practice. Left the Chatham office previously because of similar treatment. Unbelievable. read more

Had my first appointment at the Chatham office. This was the worst doctors appointment I have ever had in my entire life. The doctor would not listen to my questions, nor answer them, did not have the facilities to even treat my condition (which is psoriasis), and when I was asking questions about bloodwork he wanted me to get, he kept edging towards the door to leave. I tried to explain my frustration at him not answering my questions and he basically said he did not have time to. I don't know any doctor that doesn't listen to their patients, especially when they are a new patient. And to have him edging towards the door to leave as I'm trying to ask questions was beyond rude. I had also come in for another issue, and he refused to help me with it at all. He said I had to make another appointment. Why would I make another appointment when he didn't help me at all for the first one or even bother to answer any questions I had? I do not recommend anyone going here, find another dermatologist, even if you have to drive a little further away. read more

I've never witnessed such a rude staff. The receptionist won't pick up the phone when you call later in the afternoon. You have to call around the morning, which can be a huge inconvenience, especially if you have school. Refilling medications are also such a pain. The people at the nurses' line never pick up and when you leave a message to call you back....surprise! They never do. Additionally, some of the staff are negligent. One of the PAs gave me something that almost destroyed my skin because there was an ingredient that is toxic for use. Shouldn't she have known that before giving it to patients? Really bad service, would give 0 stars if possible. read more
