I've nothing but good things to say about the group at the Clifton Park Office where I have been seen several times. I've seen Dr. Gregory for a few visits and he always answered my questions and explained my diagnosis. He recently performed Mohs surgery with an excellent outcome. I've also seen Mr. Anthony Du Shane PA-C for a few visits. He had extensive Dermatology education prior to becoming a licensed and certified PA-C. He has always been professional, answered all my questions and explained all procedures to me. He most recently diagnosed and biopsied my basil cell cancer at an early stage I was also seen once at the Castleton Office for a procedure and was very pleased there also. The entire office staff is polite and professional. I was able to schedule and occasionally reschedule an appointment without difficulty. I also found the Medical (MD, PA-C's, NP'S) and Nursing personnel to be polite and professional. My questions and concerns were always addressed with appropriate answers provided as well as advice on future prevention. My diagnoses were always explained and appropriately treated with excellent outcomes. I'm grateful. read more

If I could give Dr. Neal zero stars, I would. He operated a MOHS above the hairline and was so careless and negligent - as was his stitching PA Mike Dulay - that the wound healed and scarred over so there's a bald patch now instead of stitching it properly where the hair can grow back again. I feel like this is stitching 101 in medical school. I know there are very few rare instances where the scalp can't be stitched together, but by and large, it's not only possibly but COMMONLY DONE so that the scalp is brought together again so hair can grow unhindered. Now there's permanent irreparable damage done and there's nobody to answer to because it's not severe enough of a deformity to warrant a medical malpractice lawsuit, but believe me I explored that option. Do yourself a favor and STEER FAR AND CLEAR from Upstate Dermatology for EVERYTHING other than simple, standard, common issues that their staff can handle. Seriously, I would be suing if I could. They don't care about patients, are clearly just running a business and not very well! If you want to be brushed off, have your questions disregarded and be ignored and treated like you are a nuisance for just being there for your appointment, then this is the place for you! This last visit was my last visit! I showed up for a scheduled appointment and had the appointment card to prove it and was told that I did not have an appointment. There was nothing in their system that showed that I had one. No apology provided, no explanation provided, no acceptance or acknowledgment that they made an error, and no offer to rectify the situation. Honestly, I'm not sure how this place stays in business. I am well aware that the healthcare system is very broken....but this place takes the cake. I wouldn't recommend this place if it was the only dermatology practice in the Capital District. read more

Neal Gregory was treating my grandparents in the 1990s, so it was only natural that I would,one day, become a patient. Unfortunately, I must concur with the negative reviews based upon my +/-20 years as a patient of this practice, most of which mirror my own experience. I will first mention that there have been a few nurses through the years who provided outstanding patient care. Thank you, it does matter. Beyond them, the focus of this practice is clearly not patient well-being but, rather, the financial bottom line . Office receptionists generally seem bothered by the patient in front of them upon check in/out, though they are quite helpful during telephone conversations. Appointments with a provider feel rushed, 10 minutes or so, with the exam sometimes seeming cursory as a result. Discussion is limited and patient questions/concerns may or may not be acknowledged and answered; often, they are met with dismissal. If one has multiple items of concern, only one will normally be addressed per visit- though the practice does seem to encourage multiple appointments for multiple concerns. The standard procedure for a skin condition of concern seems to be: cryotherapy with a follow up appointment for another round of cryotherapy, then another follow up appointment to determine the cryotherapy results with another appointment for a biopsy, if required, then a follow up appointment to receive the biopsy results. That's up to five separate office visits for one issue before any actual curative procedure is performed. I am aware of other dermatology practices which simply go straight to a biopsy, if warranted, who make results known to the patient in a timely manner with a telephone conversation. Through the years, I have had some positive experiences with the providers here though, frustratingly, they have been outweighed by the negative experiences of being treated with a lack of respect, caring, and compassion. Largely, an office visit leaves me feeling like an inconvenience and source of revenue, not a patient receiving attentive care. As a result, I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend that anyone seeking compassionate care become a patient of this practice. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. They proved to me today that you are just a transaction and they don't even have the decency to fix a mistake that they made. In September I was 11 minutes late to an appointment (14 minutes exactly once I got through the line to the receptionist). They told me that the doctor had already left and that I would have to reschedule since if you are more than 10 minutes late they require you to reschedule. I also want to add that I had to drive an hour to get to the appointment and had to take off from work. I inquired if there would be a fee and they advised me that there would not be since that was for no call no shows and I was there in person. Low and behold I was charged a $50 fee. At this point, I have inquired 4 times in office and 1 or 2 times over the phone. Everytime I was told it was a mistake and they promised to fix it​ yet I keep getting bills. Now it is December and I received yet another bill. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor because I was tired of being assured it would be fixed and it not being corrected. I was informed they they would not waive it. First, it is a correction, not a waiver. Second, I have been told a told at minimum 4 or 5 times by their OWN employees (and not the same one) that it was their mistake and it would be corrected. Third, this has been going on for 3 months. Fourth, the "manager" who is now refusing to fix it didn't even have the decency to call me but had an employee under her call me. Fifth, I have NEVER been a no call no show ever! One time there was a confusion (my very first appointment YEARS ago) when I misunderstood and went to the wrong office. I immediately called, was assured it was okay, and immediately rescheduled. The second time I ever had an issue was this time. Both times I was in person at the office (the first time I was at the Cobleskill office). ​I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. They lied to me and not follow through after assuring me several times that it would be fixed. They didn't charge their fees correctly. They have sent a clear message to me today that they do not care. I have had several appointments with them this year including a skin allergy test. I am sure they have made thousands off of my visits but they would rather lose a customer over $50. read more

I had a fraxel laser procedure several years ago that damaged my skin because the esthetician apparently wasn't properly trained!

I can't rate this practice low enough. The only reason for one star is because Yelp won't let you post without one. The staff is rude and the PA's are obnoxious. My mother has been going there for years, the most recent few years with recurring lesions on her forehead...process always the same. Obnoxious dismissive PA freezes her head, overcharges her for some ointment and sends her on her way. Last couple of years I've gone with my Mom to her appts. PA cuts off my questions about my observation that these spots never seem to heal completely ....freezes and send us home. Well about a month ago I take my mom back and the staff blocks me from entering with my Mom for her appt. Covid policy...it's not enough that I am my Moms health care proxy I have to present proof. My Mom is 84....she needs me to assist her. Too bad....can't do it I should know better? Well that's it....we left and I immediately booked my Mom at another practice in Hudson. at this practice she can see a medical Dr...I can accompany no problem. Well one appointment at the new practice and guess what ...that dr actually tests the lesions and my mother has Squamous Cell Carcinoma and already gone past the superficial stage! I'm so upset about this and am considering a malpractice suit. My focus right now is my Mom's health and what she may facing in treatment and hopefully recovery. People die every year from SCC....please don't trust Upstate Dermotology with your life. read more

Worst place. Try curology. I struggled for years with acne and curology actually worked. Also, the office manager Brian is rude. I waited over an hour for my doctor because the office overbooked. I called the office manager to ask for a reschedule because I needed to leave because of work he said okay. Instead he called my insurance company and told them I'm a liar and I did see the doctor (which I didn't because I had to rush out to get to work). My insurance company agent told me to drop them so I did. Best decision ever because I started curology and had results and someone who actually listened to me. Later I found out the office manager would get next day appointments for friends, which explains why the office was always hectic because he was probably adding people on the schedule all the time last minute. read more

I have to agree with the comments regarding the receptionist. "Someone will be right with you" apparently means "you will stand there for 5 minutes while I do some incredibly important thing on my computer, and then I will grace you with the privilege of collecting your copayment. I made an appointment to address acne on my face, chest, and back. I met with Dr. Dulay, who quickly looked at it and said the bumps on my neck are folliculitis from inflamed hair follicles, and that it can cause itchiness. I asked if that might be what causes my scalp to itch so bad. He said "I don't know, we're talking about your acne now". He proceeded to rush through, and I had to ask him to look at my chest to see if that was the same issue, as he was apparently going to skip over that. He asked if I had ever had a facial and I said yes. He left the room and handed me some paperwork about acne facials, and I asked if we could discuss the scalp. He said no, I don't have time to discuss more than one issue. So when I went to the front desk to check out I asked the receptionist if they had a policy about not being able to discuss more than one thing at an appointment, particularly since it was clearly related. She talked to the doctor and came back and told me that they only allot 10 minutes and for that reason they will not discuss more than one issue. Apparently you need to schedule separate appointments on separate days, so they can bill your insurance twice. Ok, fine. So then she asks if I am scheduling acne treatments with them. The doctor had not explained any of this to me, aside from handing me some paperwork I hadn't had a chance to read, so I asked where that takes place. She was increasingly rude and treated me like I was stupid for not knowing what this was about. At that point I just walked out. I deal with the public in my line of work as well, and I most certainly don't treat people like this. It's not the first bad experience I've had there, but I had hoped these were isolated incidents. My family and I will never be going back there! read more

I made an appointment over a month ago for a problem that needs medical attention. I wanted until today for my appointment. When I got there they told me that my appointment had been canceled. When I insisted that it hadn't been, they tell me that the appointment was yesterday, which was wrong because over the phone we agreed on today. I told them hat it was important that I saw a doctor and that it was their fault they wrote it in the classed incorrectly. They made me schedule a new appointment for three weeks from now. I was told I needed a procedure. Since I would have to pay out of pocket I asked how much it would be, so I could schedule it when I could afford it. I was given a price, and when I went for the procedure charged roughly double the amount. I told the doctor, he told me to talk to the receptionist on the way out, and if there were any problems the receptionist could talk to him. The receptionist said she couldn't change it. I told her the doctor said to talk to him if there was a problem. She said he couldn't do anything, and she would not go talk to him. She gave me a business card for Brian Brill "Director of Business Affairs". I called him a couple times and left messages. Eventually he called me back - I explained everything, he said he needed to look at my file and would call me back. He never called me back. I called a couple times after that and left messages for him to call me with no response. Everyone told me I needed to talk to someone else, and when I finally did reach the supposed right person he wouldn't return a call / provide an explanation. read more

If i Could give this place zero stars i would!! my mother went in for a procedure yesterday 04/13/2022. She was extremely pleased with her doctor. The front desk staff on the other hand is Abysmal to say the least. She witnessed the front desk staff talking to another senior citizen about insurance coverage and deductibles in the middle of the waiting room for everyone to hear not only was this horrifying to see but the attitude that was given to her was even more disturbing, she looked like she wanted to cry. then when it came time for my mom to pay AFTER her procedure she was met by the most unprofessional, uncaring woman whose only concern was payment, not a care in the world on how she was feeling or anything, just a cold distant and unprofessional demeanor she needed to pay on two different credit cards and was told they can't take two different cards. why not?? no explanation or anything! her exact words were " now, how am i going to get my ten dollars?" my mom had to go get change from her car to cover it since she refused to take a second credit card, came back and handed it to her where she then got really nasty and said " really? was that necessary?, you didn't have to throw it in my hand!" my mom did not throw it in her hand, clearly this woman was antagonizing my mom trying to get her more upset. my only words I could speak at that time was 'WOW!". this person needs to be fully investigated for elder abuse where i will start a formal investigation myself. I do not want to hear from the office manager unless it's to say that there is a change in staff which is what is needed, "I'm sorry for your experience" just won't cut it. the front staff is the first experience clients have when coming in and the last experience they have coming out this is customer service 101 clearly a skill that most individuals are lacking and should not be allowed to be face to face with people at all. DO not go to this establishment, and most certainly do not allow any senior citizen to come here either or they will be mistreated just like my mom was. i am more than disgusted and appalled by this health system. read more

LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS! You can afford to chance it on a restaurant with poor reviews. Don't make the mistake I made and do it with a dermatologist. I have never had an experience like this. I will be physically deformed forever by their senile doctors that should have retired 10 years ago and inept nursing staff, and missed valuable time in a cancer diagnosis due to their staggering incompetence. No amount of money can ever undo what they have done. I cannot stress enough the regrets I have over not heeding the poor reviews I saw in an effort to get in quickly when others were booked. There's a reason they always have availability. And they seem to exist NOT to help people, or perform actual dermatology services (at least not ethical or quality ones), but to send everyone to billing and legal, even when they have paid. How cute that none of their billing departments, payment systems, collections offices or attorneys speak to each other, so you can spend your time fighting; not the disease they missed diagnosing, but instead fighting to keep them from suing you over bills you paid last year. I read the reviews on here and on Google and I almost didn't give Upstate Dermatology a try. But they were local and could see me right away for an urgent issue so I gave them a shot. I'm glad I did, my experience was the exact opposite of the ones I read about on here. The receptionists were very friendly, I didn't have to wait long to be seen and when I was seen the care I was given was top notch. I would highly recommend this practice. read more

Had a mole removed. TERRIBLE pain throughout healing. Even WORSE pain getting stitches removed. Now have constant pain where scar tissue has formed, two months after stitch removal. Went back two days after procedure to describe pain not anticipated or warned about, concerned something was wrong - I was met with "Do you want pain meds?" What I would have preferred was some professional care and understanding, not drugs. Any indication as to why I had searing pain in the area. The area had to be numbed to have stitches removed. This is my first time having stitches removed where extreme pain was present. Clearly some nerve damage was done. Its probably unpredictable but how this clinic handled the whole thing is woefully beneath any experience with the medical profession I have had before. Nor what I would accept again. Oh and a $500 bill, not including the 2 urgent care visits and countless trips to drugstores for pain cremes, crutches, wraps, and bandages. Awesome. Proceed with caution before you let ANYONE from this clinic touch you. Bette yet, go somewhere else. read more

I go to the Skin Care.center and.I see Courtney. One of the most understanding and listening professional aesthetician . She understands ethnic skin and works closely with your concerns. I starting having adult acne and because of her my skin has not had much scaring at all because of her care. She is very upfront about what is good for my skin and what i respect the most when she tells me what is not good even if i ask to go in that direction regarding my skin. She works with me on what i am confortable with and what i am not comfortable with. She knows her skill well and i trustn her totally with my skin care. This is not just talk because i know how important skin care is to people who suffer from acne or melasma. I trust her professional guidance. read more

I went here to have a small spot of sun damaged skin frozen off. The spot was about the size of a pencil eraser. My insurance doesn't cover this so its entirely my responsibility. The procedure was performed by a nurse and lasted literally 5 minutes. I was billed $200. I have had this done a number of times at other places and the bill was never more than $90 and was always done by a Dermatologist. I wont be going back. read more

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Gregory and his practice! I have been with him for years and he is THE best in his field of expertise. Staff are exemplary and are super kind and caring. I first went with a serious skin cancer and had others since and he has always gotten me through them successfully and safely. His other dermatology services are also phenomenal; enhancements, acne and righting what's wrong with your skin in all areas are done in the highest caliber and best quality. I have no doubt that I am in good hands and receiving the best treatment and care when I am there.! I recommend him wholeheartedly! read more

Less than stellar physicians who do not seem to know what they are doing. I have been trying to get simple warts removed. After a freeze attempt - nothing. Then they inserted needels under my finger nails and CUT them off, but still nothing; now, they used some caustic acid, by finger is purple and ugly and hurts like crazy, and the wart is still there. Quite frankly they suck, save yourself the frustration. They want your money, that's it. Desk staff has attitude. You can never get anyone on the phone. You don't actually see a doctor you see a PA or some student. I've been four times now and I've never actually had someone get up close and look at my skin. I have had them prescribe a slew of ineffective pills, creams and pads. They don't seem at all interested in helping, they're interested in parting you from your money. Healthcare is aggravating enough, being made to feel like just a source of revenue just makes it that much worse. I suggest steering clear. read more

I'm surprised by all of the bad reviews. In 5 years I have consistently had good experiences, both with the dermatologists as well as the Skin Care Center. I've never had trouble with appointments or the front desk staff (even when I've been running late, stuck in traffic, etc.). I've seen several different practitioners for dermatology check ups, acne care, and skin type assessment- everyone has been great to work with. When I was younger I had horrible cystic acne. I tried every medication and was on Accutane, which helped but did not clear my acne completely. In the past few years my skin has calmed down a bit, but regular visits to the Skin Care Center have been doing wonders for my skin! I never dreamed that my skin could be this clear, sometimes even radiant. My scars have faded significantly. The occasional pimple still pops up here and there, but now it's unusual when that happens (and is usually caused by me experimenting with a product that doesn't work well for me). The aestheticians at the Skin Care Center and the Skin Typing booth have helped me find products that work with my finicky skin. When my skin's needs change due to seasons, hormones, etc. they help me fine-tune my regimen again. I'm very happy to have found this practice. read more

If anyone goes to upstate dermatology in Schodack, NY you might want to look for another dermatologist if you don't like your time wasted. I had an appointment this morning at 9 AM and I got there early and was told I didn't have an appointment because they called me on 2/19/18 to postpone or cancel my appointment because Kelly Powers is no longer in that office on Tuesday. I never received such a call. I asked and they called back a second time and they told me they had pages of people to contact. I guess I didn't rate enough to have a second phone call. I said so are you going to give me $50 for wasting my time like he would've charged me if I was late or miss my appointment. I was told no we don't do that. I guess unless it's Dr. Gregorys Rule it doesn't count. I've noticed their attitude is a little for themselves and not for their patients so patients beware. THEY ARE HORRIBLE and RUDE. They perscribed me an anit-biotic that I indidcated I was serverly allergic too. Thank godness my pharamacy noticed. Then they acted like they did nothing wrong and told me I should have known that that medication had that anibiotic in it. They argured with me and insisted that I was in the wrong. I have no complaints about Upper Hudson Dermatology. I went here after getting sick of waiting months (literally 2-3 months or more) for an appointment with my old dermatologist (Hillary Siebeneck, in Latham) who would spend two seconds with me and barely look at my skin. Anyway, I got an appointment quickly with UHD (within a week) and was seen by a nurse who seemed qualified and thorough. She spent a good deal of time with me, listened to me, and explained things to me. I will return there for future dermatological services. read more
