Every time I come for an appointment there is a problem! The office staff is not friendly and quite rude, and unwilling to accommodate you when they mess up. If they do accommodate you, it is a huge deal that they had to help you and you owe them something. Horrible experience each and every time!!!!! Don't go here. They don't care about anything but how much you and your insurance will pay. Then you will keep getting bills for a hundred different things, that should normally be included. But I guess this is the new normal. They don't even answer the phone. No bedside manner and just a horrible dehumanizing place to be. Find another place to go. read more

I was looking for a dermo that is not a spa, because previous experiences at other area dermos felt abbreviated, like they didn't care about the medical side at all, unless I was spending on the anti-aging side. Upstate has spa elements but it isn't the first thing you feel when you walk in. My first visit for a base-line cancer scan was great, I felt really heard by the PA who assessed me. Second year I was not so happy with the RN - who was super knowledgable but talked more than listened. I'm not looking to make new friends but front desk staff should at least look up in acknowledgement when someone comes to the desk. I go back because I get what I need from the yearly skin check. The Doctors there are good but the reception area is terrible. I referred my family to the practice and they were both treated very rudely by the receptionists. So much so, that they were talking about my daughter when they knew she could hear them. And they were rude to my Mother. I am embarrassed I sent them there and am so disgusted, we will not be going back there. How do have these people as your introduction to your practice? Apparently, there have been many compaints, and nothing is done about it. I am a nurse and I would be furious if these women represented me. read more

From calling to make an appointment, walking in the door and then being seen you are treated so kind. The front end staff are welcoming and make the experience relaxing. The doctors are thorough and take the time to explain their findings with you. I've left voicemails to make an appointment and they return my calls with the day. When I arrive for my appointment I have never been made to wait more than five minutes at most. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. read more

PLEASE do not go here if you value your time or money. They are refusing to honor the negotiated rate with my secondary insurance (with whom they are considered in-network), and are billing me $175, when my insurance carrier is saying I should only owe $90. It has been MONTHS of calls/follow ups/emailing my Explanation of Benefits. I don't know if they don't understand primary/secondary insurance or just don't care, but the 45 seconds I spent with a PA who forgot to call in my prescription twice was NOT worth the brain damage. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Dr. Anthony Dushane's Dermatology Office. He is incredibly likable and welcoming and is a pleasure to be a patient of. He knows what he's doing and takes the time to explain everything to his clients. I could not be happier with my experience in his office, and I happily referred my daughter to his office as well. Extremely apprehensive driving from Albany and considering commuting to NYC for care, I found Upstate Dermatology superior. The facility is in great location, has ample parking, cleanly, professional friendly w/ thorough staff, diverse, timely, with a confident comprehensive and humble doctor. This office simply won't call back. They finally answered one of my phone calls very early in the morning and they said they would have the doctor call me. I said "Please don't forget". And of course, the doctor never called me. I really needed important information too. The aesthetician is also very condescending and will ridicule you about your acne if it is bad in certain spots. read more

I haven't gone to the appointment yet but it's seems like all they care about is money. I received many phone calls from them but it was about insurance and them making sure I was going to pay. My experience with Upstate Dermarology was lovely. Senting up appointments, seeing me in a timely manor. I had to have a biopsy & Mohs surgery. They talked me through everything with empathy and kindess. Betsy was my nurse and she very proffessional and supportive. I don't remember the names of the other staff members, but everyone was nice. This office looks super nice when you go in but they have done nothing but mess up my experiences in last two months. I started going to them after needing a new dermatologist. In the two months I've been seen, they never contacted me about biopsy results of a mole when I was told I would get results, then they told me the WRONG results. Then I went back to have bites looked at. I was told I need a prescription steroid cream that they never called in to my pharmacy so I had to chase the dermatology again. No apology or anything. The communication is horrible: you almost always have to leave a message and wait for a call back, and I can't believe how many errors have been made in such a short time, about important things. Also, good luck if you see Joan the FNP. She is a trip and a half and will make you super uncomfortable. Go somewhere else! read more

The one star is simply for having this office not return calls. I called several times to make an appointment, however during office hours you're sent to voice mail. 1st appt. Over an hour wait 2ns appt. they forgot why I was there and sent me to buy some products. Reminded them why I was there and finally dr. Shows to do a biopsy. Was concerned about infection. Called around 4 pm, asked me to come in next day @ 8:20. Decided in am it looked better didn't go. Receive letter I owe them $50.00 for no show Called day before next appt. to find out results of biopsy They told me the appt. had been cancelled do to a freeze on my acct. asked if I could at least get results.
