Not great on communication. I was told I'd get a call back to schedule. Never did. I called back and no one answered. Messaged through the site. I told them what type of insurance I had. My insurance company said it was something different. I confirmed that they were wrong. Have no interest in a provider who doesn't listen. read more

Schenectady, I've been seen there four times and every time I've gotten in quickly and the provider who saw me was very polite and thorough. I've never had a problem with the receptionist so at least for me it's been a very pleasant experience. read more

In November, 2024, this office required me to pay a co-pay although, due to complicated insurances, I often don't need to. Receptionist assured me a refund procedure is in place. In December insurance informed me there was no co-pay. To date (end of March, 2025) I have received no refund. I called the CP office and was referred to their Texas Biller who assured me they would refund. No refund. Emailed their form from website to request refund. No refund. Called and asked to speak to office manager but could only leave my name and number for Manager to contact me. No contact. No refund. Wrote a letter to Neal Gregory detailing above and requesting refund. No contact. No refund. Of course I've changed providers despite the fact that I've found clinical staff at the CP office to be excellent practitioners and very caring people. But the caring, apparently, doesn't extend to the reception desk or any office staff. I am surprised to get no response from Dr. Gregory. Hope you can profit from my loss. read more

Worst medical appointment experience I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, there's a reason the building looks like trash and you are reading all these bad reviews. They required a credit card on file to charge for services they deem necessary and when I refused they requested a $175 co pay to see the Dr. Telling me any overage will be refunded. Well, it's been over a month, my insurance allows for a $90 payment and they have still not refunded my money. Terrible experience and very unethical business practices. read more

Very disappointed. Started off with the need to remove a small pimple on my face. They froze it and proceeded to examine my chest and back for any growths which I thought was very professional. They found one small growth they said looked suspicious and suggested that they take a picture of it. I said OK, let's do it. They said that that I would need to make another appointment for the picture. So I paid my $50 co-pay and made another appointment. About a week or so, I returned for the picture, (paid another $50 co-pay). They said they would notify me of the result. Couple of weeks passed and they called and said they had the results but would have to make another appointment. They refused to discuss any of whatever they found over the phone. Ok, I then made another appointment and was told that they would need to take a biopsy of the growth. I agreed and they did it. While there I complained that the pimple on my face was still there so they froze it again. (paid $50 co-pay. ) This time I was told I needed to pay $60 for the pathologist to examine the biopsy. ok I paid the $60. Weeks later the informed me that they had the results of the exam but refused to discuss them over the phone. So again, made an appointment I was then told that I had a "pre-cancer" skin condition and they recommended that I have it removed. They stressed the importance of having it done. I decided to wait. So again I paid the $50 co-pay .So I ended up paying $260 and I still have the pimple on my face. Later, I received another bill in the amount of $60 for the laboratory who examined the biopsy. I have been going to Upstate Dermatology for several visits now. I have been treated with courtesy and professionalism. My wait times have been very short. I see Anthony Dushane and he explains what the problem is and how they will remedy it. He offers a choice of treatments if possible. He also takes the time to answer random questions I may have and offers over the counter solutions. I never feel rushed in my appointments. My co-pay has always been consistent--any problem people may have with that depends on their insurance coverage not the facility. Trust me, I have been to other dermatologists who are rude, condescending and abrupt. This practice is nothing like that! read more

This place is a joke. Coming in numerous times to be told the same thing. Maybe go to the next course of action to help the patient instead of 4 follow ups when your treatment has not worked. I had an important patch test ive been waiting to go to and they will no longer allow me to go there. I really needed it. Dont waste your time with this place Go to another dermatologist office that will want to actually help you as the patient. Good luck. Customer service is lacking greatly. Tell you as a new patient to come in earlier to fill out paperwork but what they don't tell you is anyone who comes in after gets seen before you. They make you wait an hour just to be brought to exam room to wait 10 minutes at the minimum. Who has all day to sit at a drs office on a Monday ? read more

My initial experience at the Schenectady office was positive as was the second and third follow up. However, since September of 2022 my last three visits have been terrible. I had an appointment in Sep. I always show up half hour early. I checked in, paid my copay and waited, and waited, and waited for more than an hour after my scheduled appointment. Front desk staff weren't helpful. I asked for my money back and had them reschedule. I rescheduled for Oct. I show up early. I pay my copay and lucky for me I was seen within reasonable time. The doctor came in, asked me several questions and recommended I do a blood test. The doctor gives me a form to take to get the blood test done. I take the form, schedule another follow up appointment and proceeded back to my hometown to get the blood work done. Something told me to check the form. The form had someone else's name on it. I had no reason to check the form while I was at Upstate Derm. I thought I'm dealing with competent medical professionals. At any rate, I called upstate and told them they gave me the wrong form. The lady said ok, let me check. She comes back and says we can't do anything right now, may take couple of hours to correct the form with your name on it. I said fine, I will keep checking with the Lab. Five hours later and still nothing. I called the next day, got a voicemail, left a message, no respond. Needless to say, I couldn't get the blood test done. Last week I show up for my follow up appt so the doctor could talk to me about the "blood test". I checked in, paid my copay. I asked the clerk if I could speak with the office manager. I knew in my heart that the office manager will give some sort of excuse not to engage me. I was right. The clerk said the office manager is in "training." She asked me what the issue is. I told her about the bungled up paper work and lack of response afterwords. The clerk said she will get that to the office manager. I was then seen by the doctor. I told him what happened since he last saw me and that he had given me the wrong form that had another patient's information. I shared with him that the office manager didn't come out to speak with me. The doctors response, "I see you are not happy with us, I suggest you find another doctor." Not once did he apologize nor say that he will look into the mess his office created. It's disgusting that professionals act that way. They take your money and don't provide the service for it! Everyone at Upstate Dermatology who interacted with me during my last two visits ought to hold their down in shame...you are pathetic and I guarantee you that I will never recommend your services to anyone I know! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. First of all, new patients have to pay $175, no copays - that's their co pay- which I found strange. Second, I was seen by Dr Gregory, I went in with 3 concerns. He only cover one of the issues, which by the way, he didn't say anything different from what I've already knew, third, the appointment was 10 min. I question him if he wasn't gonna check my skin, he said NO, you have to make another appointment for that (another $150.00) . After 10 minutes he stood up and started walking away, I questioned him, are we done? He responded YES. Then he asked if I wanted to do a skin test. The "test" was to answer 10 questions about my skin. THAT'S IT! And after that they tried to sell "their products". At any pint and time of the consultation he touched my skin or said anything. What kind of office is this? that a Dermatologist doesn't even touch your skin??? ABSOLUTELY the WORST dermatologist office I've even been. Save your money and time. I literally walked out of there with no help or treatment and short $175.00. Just avoid the aggravation and choose a different office. read more

Truly disappointed with the customer service and quality of care. I would not recommend this facility. They refused to see me unless I paid $125 toward my deductible each visit, until my deductible was met. I tried to work out a payment agreement but the rep I spoke to in billing was downright condescending and rude. Long story short I paid my deductible up front to continue services because I didn't have much of a choice ... but here I am months later because they were having me over pay and charging me a copay for service that didn't require a copay and they still owe me a refund. At one point I had to bring in my EOB's to prove they could not continue to bill me ...they were quick to take my money but can't be bothered to refund me when due. I was also receiving phototherapy and had been seen at the schenectady office .. I scheduled in the schodack office one day since I was out that way ...I ended up with burns because apparently they use different phototherapy lights in that office. I wish the staff took the time to review my chart and advise that office would not have been a good fit for me. At this point I had been going for weeks for treatment and was 25 weeks pregnant. read more

This office is run like it's amateur night but every day. In probably 8 visits over 4 years I was never seen on time once. Also I never actually met with a doctor, Dr Gregory seems to have a crew of lower degree people racing around to make him money... when I tried to leave their practice after the ineptitude got overwhelming I submitted questions via their website about getting my records and got no reply, finally when I called the front desk, Liz, said she didn't know that it was even possible to submit questions on their website... if the main person, the front to the business, does not know about the "contact us" feature on the website I can only imagine how many people have died trying to reach these people... racing to another dermatologist here... good luck read more

Waited 40 mins to see a nurse practitioner for 10 mins. Asked me to come in 30 mins before my appointment to do paperwork that only took 10 mins. Nice facilities though. read more

When I called Upstate Dermatology to make an appointment, my first question was the usual first question that people in America ask when making an appointment with a new medical provider: "do you accept my insurance?". They said yes. I went ahead with the appointment. The doctor himself was helpful, but the administrative staff were cold and unwelcoming, making me feel very awkward as a new patient. A month after the appointment, Upstate Dermatology sent me a bill, saying that I owed money because they were not part of my insurance provider's network. I protested based on the fact that they had told me that they accepted my insurance, and their response was "Per your insurance, you owe us this amount". Actually, it's not per my insurance, it's per the misinformation your staff gave me. Clearly, Upstate Dermatology is yet another medical provider that's in the business of using the fragility of the human body as a profit-generating mechanism, rather than actually focusing on helping people. Do not go here for medical services of any kind. read more

Do not go here. I went to check on bumps on my face and to have them removed and ended up with a scar on my face. I seeked legal action on them and now they will not fix what they have done. The person that was supposed to remove these bumps removed my birth mark I had since I was born without telling me. She retired before anything could be done. Now I have a life long scar on my face. Make sure you see what they are taking off before you let them touch you. Worse place I ever dealt with. They refuse to help me with my scar. Nice way to satisfy a customer. No respect. Now I have to deal with an ugly scar everyday. I went to them to help me deal with this upsetting problem and ended up with more overwhelming stress. read more

I usually have a good experience when I come here but had a particularly stressful and upsetting experience today. I have been in a lot of pain with Cystic acne that is making the entire right side of my face swell. I went in to check in with the receptionist and she was extremely condescending and rude. This was an emergency appointment and I was really lucky to be able to take a cancellation. She proceeded to lecture me because I hadn't called earlier with my new insurance and said I would be held up from being able to go in and see someone. She then told me I would need to pay a $75 copay which I was also not told. I understand I should have called beforehand with my insurance but it was not something in the front of my mind seeing as I am rarely ever at the dermatologist office and today was an emergency visit. She then says "no one needs to tell you anything. You should know your own insurance." I have been in pain all day waiting for my 4 pm appointment with a swollen face. I'm standing in front of this miserable lady trying not to cry and she says she can't bill me or help me. I completely get it's my responsibility to know my insurance but the cold and unkind manner in which I was treated while it's quite obvious I'm in a ton of pain was just so upsetting. I still have three stars because the dermatologists are always so great. But this receptionist has got me so upset. How hard is it to just be kind? If you're not a people person. Very Disappointed! After reaching to the office we found out that the doctor does not see the minor patients only the nurse practitioners do in this office. I wonder why do they charge specialist fees if the nurse attends the patients and staff's argument was that nurse practitioner knows everything that the doctors know. I don't know why they need doctor their office if the nurse can take care of patients! maybe just to charge a specialist fee! Never recommend any new patients to this place. This was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE ! If you are looking for an actual Doctor to treat a skin problem - this is NOT the place to go . I waited over two months for this appointment. The actual appointment was supposed to be for having a skin tag removed from my finger and a small bump on my lip removed . A nurse came to the waiting room and accompanied me back to a treatment room . She asked me a few questions about why I was there . I explained what I was expecting to have done and she said that the dr would be in shortly . A few minutes later someone named Anthony came in, said he was a PA and asked me the same questions and took some pictures . I reiterated that I was there to have the skin tag removed from my hand and the bump on my lip removed . Then he proceeded to tell me that I would need to see the esthetician for a chemical peel and that she might be able to extract the bump on my lip . He didn't really know about the skin tag on my hand ; he wasn't sure what it actually was but the Esthetician would look at it. So I said ok and asked if she would do this today?? He said " oh no - she's not here today . You' ll have to make another appointment . " I couldn' believe it . I drove an hour and a half each way ( I live in VT ) after waiting over 2 months to get this appointment , never even got to see a real doctor. The PA who is supposed to a Physician Assistant was going to confer with an esthetician rather than a qualified physician and his recommendation was to make a follow up appt for three months with him and an appt with the esthetician for a chemical peel . Not sure what the follow up was for - HE did absolutely nothing . So when I went out to the desk , I asked when the esthetician would be there . I was told I would have to wait at least two weeks to see her because my insurance probably wouldn't pay for another appointment so close to the first one. The whole experience was extremely weird . The only thing they were really concerned about was what insurance I had and how they were getting paid . They want you to put up a credit card deposit( to cover any balances they deem necessary . The whole thing reeked of very shady operation . NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK . read more

I was 7 minutes EARLY for my appointment. They had requested I be there 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork (PS I have yet to ever take 20 minutes to fill out any medical paperwork -- and I could have filled it out afterwards, too), but I got a little lost, so I lost a few minutes. The doctor (or rather NP) refused to see me because that would "mess up their schedule" and because "appointments are only TEN MINUTES!" Meanwhile, THEY cancelled on me the previous week and when I asked why they responded, "because the practitioner won't be here." So, it's ok for them to cancel and inconvenience me, but I got lost (after driving nearly 1.5 hrs) and they wouldn't see me. The PA, DuShayne, who I was scheduled to see, spoke to the nurse and without making eye contact with me (I was standing right there) said he didn't have time to see me. The staff was cold, as well. I think I dodged a bullet - clearly people are numbers here. Glad to learn that before attempting to get care. Shameful. read more

[SCHENECTADY] I have gone here now on 3 occasions and I have had conversations with all 3 receptionists. This last time I must have finally got the "head" receptionist. She was rude, patronizing and very disrespectful to me and the other two receptionists. I have a type of insurance that doesn't require a co-pay. It's referred to as Co-Insurance, I know this since she continually told me this and eyed the other two ladies with sideways glances, stating I was never to be asked for money. I never have, they both seemed very pleasant and competent. I tried multiple times to explain this but was rudely cutting off and told that I "needed to listen to her words" that she was saying because she "was helping me." She was even using her hand to show the words that were coming out of her mouth. I have never been spoke. To like this, I only walked up to the counter to checkin when here demeaning lecture started. I really like my Doctor there but this woman is more than I would ever want to deal with again. I'll forego any further visits there and will change offices. read more

Reception employees are incredibly rude. I made an appointment for my son and explained that I could not be there earlier than the (allegedly "only available") scheduled appointment for paperwork and that my mother would bring him for the appointment and I would fill out the paperwork at home and bring it to the appointment. So my reminder call for my 3:30 appointment came and then a couple of days later my mother delivered my son for his appointment a few minutes before the appointment time. I arrived at 3:31 and went into the lobby where my mother and my son were standing after giving his name and they wouldn't see him because his parent hasn't arrived yet. The receptionist then tells me that "he can't be seen because the appointment has already started" and it's a very short appointment. Are they freaking for real???? 3:31 and they can't be seen because the appointment has already started???? One star only because I had to put a star there in order to write this. read more

In the past, i have definitely had some bad experiences here with rude receptionists leaving very rude messages and just down right rude for no reason. I have heard this from several other people. Although, they seem to have had a new turn over of clerical workers so at least that has gotten better the last few office visits. However, Amy, the aesthetician appears to really dislike her job. I have never seen her smile and she is very unfriendly. My teenage child does not want to go back because of this. I have had experiences with the doctors there and they have been good. read more

I wish there was an option to give a ZERO rating or even negative. Never go to this office! You can not even get to see a Doctor unless maybe you are available and he is available on a Wednesday as that is the only day he is in the office. His PA is completely incompetent. I went in for a rash, the only question the PA asked me was why did I come in today. I started telling her about my rash, which she looked at from about 6 feet away. I mentioned it itched more at night and the first and only assessment she gave was "scabies". Never asked one other question about anything like have I done anything unusual lately or used a new soap, etc. etc. I went home and contacted a real dermatologist office, got an appointment with the Doctor, the very next morning. She never once mentioned "scabies", she asked everything from what my hobbies are to ask if anything had changed recently, etc.etc. It was determined it was most likely a heat rash as I started working out at the gym again. She prescribed a cream and the rash cleared up almost immediately. I never fulfilled the prescription from Upstate Dermatology for an oral medication to kill the bugs she thought were crawling under my skin. So angry with this incompetent excuse for a Physician's Assistant. I emailed the office, sent a message through their website and wrote a letter to the doctors and office manager of how unhappy I was. In addition I called and cancelled the follow up appointment I made well in advance of the date and time. More than a month later I get a bill for the balance due after I already paid them $100 for the appointment before even seeing the PA. On top of that they charged me a NO SHOW fee of $50! When I called the billing number on the statement before I even said why I was calling the billing person automatically knew that is why I was calling. Obviously because these creeps do this all the time. She took off the $50 fee with no problem and will send a revised bill. But, I called the office to complain of it and wanted an explanation. I asked if they just automatically assessed the $50 fee and she said "YES"! I lost it then. They hope that someone will just pay the bill and not call or complain. A total ripoff. A completely incompetent, unscrupulous, fraudulent excuse for a medical facility. read more

Horrible! I was told to get there at 9:30 for a 9:45 appointment. After waiting 1 hour in a standing only waiting room, I was told that there were 2 people in front of me to be seen. This was with 5 providers being on to see patients. I took my co-pay back and left. This is not the type of service I expect, especially as a new patient. They should get their act together. After three months of my ENT's office calling and trying to make an appointment with this office, I was finally scheduled for an appointment at 11:15am today. I called this morning to confirm the appointment and told them I would be there 5-10 minutes early to fill out paperwork, and that I was unable to arrive earlier. The receptionist (Diane) on the phone said that was fine. When I arrived at 11:10am I was told by the receptionist (I wish I caught her name) that I could not be seen because I didn't arrive "early enough" by her standards. I calmly explained the situation. She snapped at me and told me in an extremely rude and condescending tone that I could not be seen. I explained to her that the appointment was time sensitive- she VERY rudely replied that she REFUSED to let me have my appointment. The receptionist was so unprofessional and LOUDLY so the entire room could hear kept saying that I could not be seen. She completely embarrassed me in front of a room full of people-- presumably to assert her authority in making decisions regarding timeliness of patience-- so I turned and walked out. I called later and asked to speak to a supervisor but was told that "she is busy." My name and phone number weren't even taken. I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. Please go literally anywhere else. Also, their building is completely impossible to find with very little signage and four parking spots, next to a construction site and crumbling, dilapidated buildings. I have never been treated so badly at a medical office. I waited 2 months for an appointment. The front reception staff is very rude and unprofessional. I was found to have a possible basal cell carcinoma on my face. I was scheduled for a biopsy and a Moh's procedure on the same day. I was never offered the opportunity to meet the doctor who was going to perform the Moh's procedure, nor was the procedure explained to me. Because I work a block away from the office, I asked the PA and nurse if I could return to work after the biopsy and I would return immediately if it was warranted. Both PA and nurse assured that they would call me in an hour. I never received a phone call to return to office. When I called 4 hours later, they admitted that they "forgot to call me". My Moh's procedure was rescheduled for a Saturday. Again, they said that they would call me the following day with a time. They never called. When I called them 2 days later, the rude receptionist stated that "we aren't coming in this Saturday". I decided that if a medical office couldn't return phone calls, then I didn't trust them enough to perform surgery. I decided to have the procedure done elsewhere. My primary care physician had to call 3x before my records were released to them. There are other competent dermatologists in the area, I recommend that you seek another dermatologist. I am a nurse and I have worked in the medical field for over 20 years. I understand that MD offices get busy, but there is no excuse for the overall non professionalism of this office. read more
