I made reservations for my boyfriends birthday, and they were extremely accommodating and put 12 of us in a secluded area of the dining lounge. The server we had was great and made excellent beer suggestions for us all. The food was incredible. We ate last night around 7pm and were STILL full today past noon. My girlfriend and I went for lunch and I think we should stick with boneheads. We ordered the Butcher's Block and were very underwhelmed with the amount of food for 60$. The flavours were good but the price to portion size was way off. It said it fed 3-4 people so I assumed when it said "chicken" they meant an entire chicken, not half of one. I am a big fan of the Upstreet PEI brewery and was really excited to hear they were setting up shop to brew beer and serve BBQ. It was Friday night and they were pretty busy. It looks like they kept the same layout as the previous brew/pub that occupied the space but these guys brought way more personality to the place. After taking my kids to a full day of 2018 Hal-Con, I brought a big appetite. I got the $50-ish BBQ platter for 2 for one! It came with a sausage, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and three sides.I am a big brisket fan. I subbed the pulled pork for the brisket for a small charge. The Really Good As expected the beer was on point; they had their regular offerings plus two seasonal IPAs. The waitress was cool about letting sample them before I committed to a pint. The chicken was really good. I didn't have any expectations about ii but it was clearly the standout in the whole platter. It was moist and slightly smokey. The sausage (I think it had cheddar in it) was also excellent. These last two really stood out from the ribs and brisket. The cornbread was moist and crumbly and came in a freakin cast iron skillet. They have 4 or 5 types of BBQ sauce on the table- one of which is made with their own beer. The Good Portion size was generous. I ate well at the Brewhouse I had the meat sweats. What I took home fed my for bfast and lunch. Yes, BBQ it's not just for breakfast! I felt like I got my money's worth. The Bad The onion rings were not crispy. The batter was damp and oily. The mac and cheese was really plain- no zip and not especially cheesy. The coleslaw was just sauteed onion and cabbage. While it was tender, the brisket was really fatty. The ribs were the biggest disappointment; I didn't find them very meaty and I kept having to pull bits of gristle out of my mouth. Maybe I am spoiled from Ribfest. unfortunately the meal today was far from our past experience. our server and manager were good in attending to our concerns however the food quality was very disappointing. The brisket burger was cold in the middle however the cheese had been melted, it was not hit either. The smoked wings, not sure what happened here....deep fried maybe....certainly not smoked. if you have had smoked wings from here in the past you would know the difference. The corn bread was good and the beans tasty although had been sitting in the dish for a bit (beans will get a slight film on the top as they cool down). The coleslaw was simply gross! Our serve red wanted to understand the wing issue as she said her knowledge of smoked wings was limited, she was new the the restaurant. the manager explained they had switched providers for the wings and offered something to take home....we declined but the offer was nice. A BBQ joint is not the first place I would think of to be vegan friendly but Upstreet caters to all crowds. The restaurant is located inside their brewery. It is a massive space. Walking in you are greeted by arcade machines and pinball tables which to me means immediate love. The large space has a long bar area. Lots of tables, chairs and booths fill the room, as well as a shuffle board and other games hanging on the walls. I loved seeing the machinery and equipment for brewing their beer too. It's a little noisy but it works for the atmosphere. Their menu is largely meat based but they have jackfruit (basically vegan pulled pork) which can be done into sandwiches and then several sides to choose from. We got the roasted veggies and coleslaw. They serve it all on a large plate, diner style. The food itself was delicious! I simply loved everything. The coleslaw was perfect, the veggies cookies and seasoned just right and the jackfruit was tender and flavourful! Our waitress was a sweetheart too. At the end of our meal she said they love having vegans come in and are hoping to expand the menu more for us. All in all I'm in love with this place! Super impressed by everything. read more

Nice easy access location, clean inside, fast friendly service, all the earmarks of a new restaurant trying to gain and hold customers. So, what's the catch? Well, if you're into salad, this restaurant isn't likely going to be your cup of organically sourced vegan tea. BUT, if you like eating tasty animals...you'll feel right at home. Pulled pork, BBQ chicken, ribs, brisket, sausages, you get the idea. We had all of the above in their signature platter, the Smoke Stack. Within the 45 minutes or so that I was there, two other tables got taken, so not busy. Friendly, basic service. Tried the Eggs Benny with jackfruit and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't realize that the fruit takes on whatever flavor you want it to, so you could've fooled me and said I was actually eating pulled pork. Like that the cornbread muffin base is different, although personally prefer the texture of an English muffin. Unfortunately, our most recent visit here was a complete 180 from our first visit in 2019 when everything was fantastic. We went there on March 11th, 2023 and it seems the place has taken a severe downturn. You now place your order at the bar and seat yourself. They then bring your food to the table. This isn't the problem, although, no one ever returned to ask how our food was or to offer drink refills. The problem was the food was HORRIBLE! My husband has the brisket melt with fries and a side sausage. The "sausage" looked more like a ballpark hot dog and my husband said it tasted like it too. The french fries were drastically over seasoned with salt & pepper and oddly enough, there was no salt or pepper on the table. Not that you would need it I guess with the amount already on the food. I had the 2/3 rack ribs with fries and mac & cheese. Same issue with the fries that my husband had. The mac & cheese had so much pepper in it that it was literally inedible. The ribs were so overcooked that they were dried out and the ends were so hard I wasn't sure if it was meat or bone. It WAS meat, at one point. On top of all this, the place is FILTHY! The table top was sticky, the condiments (plastic bottles of ketchup and a couple different bbq sauces) were covered in sticky drips of the substances they held, the window sill and blind next to our table were covered in crusted on old food remnants and the floor under our table was littered with old bits of food. We will definitely NOT be back again and regret our decision to dine there that night. We're from out of town and so we cherish our chances to try all the great spots in the city when we're in town. This is my first time ordering from this place.My partner and i decided to order from this location to celebrate her dad who had recently passed. When she picked up the order everything wad in sealed packages as you would expect from a grocery store. We then had to heat all the food up as if we had cooked the food ourselves. We came in here for a late nightish snack. We opted to get some born bread and split nachos with pulled pork. While I would have expected a bit more flavour from the pork, it was still tender and juicy with a generous amount given. In fact, I love how they seem to be generous with most of the topics and I appreciated that they used both banana peppers and jalepeno peppers for those of us who like it spicy, and considering there's no hot sauce or hot salsa available. They dipping sauces were odd. The queso had zero taste and the "salsa" seemed more like marinara sauce. We opted mostly to eat the nachos without them. I'd be wiling to go back to try their actual BBQ. Lots of interesting options and sides. Vegetarians forced to go to a BBQ joint will appreciate the jack fruit option. I was looking forward to the opening of this restaurant. Unfortunately, all four of us were disappointed. The ribs tasted like anything you could buy pre-seasoned and frozen at the grocery store; the brisket was way below average; portions were small; and the "greens," ended up being a small bowl of steamed and unseasoned broccoli. The chicken was good, and Upstreet does make good beer. The atmosphere is lively, and the service was great.
