The absolute WORST auto body shop I've ever dealt with. My car has been sitting there for over a month, and they've done nothing but lie about the status. DO NOT GO HERE. First of all, the guy who took my car in was pulling it into the garage and crashed it into another vehicle. He did fix what he messed up at no charge but...this was not a great start. I was charged $1200. They put an O2 sensor for a DIFFERENT vehicle in my truck. On top of that, they stripped 3 out of 5 bolts in the catalytic converter. To top it all off, they reset the check engine light so it would stay off just long enough for me to not realize what they had done. If you want your car fucked up, by all means go here. read more

Uptown Auto Specialist.. There is not enough to be said for this Auto Shop, on Tchoup!! My wife drives a Mini Cooper, and with the closure of the Mini Dealership in Baton Rouge, the nearest dealership for repairs is a couple of states over!! I searched high, and low, trying to find a competent Auto Repair Shop to repair my wife's 2015 Mini Copper Countryman. Uptown Auto was the right business for the best job. The job was done quickly, and for a great price. The service and staff were friendly, and very knowledgeable. We had to go out of town for about 10 days, and they held our Mini in the lot until we returned!! I mean talk about customer service!! If you have a Mini Cooper, and now have nowhere to go to for repairs, GO TO UPTOWN AUTO SPECIALIST!!! You will be thrilled with the entire experience. Took my daughters car by to diagnose an issue. The estimate was for around $1000 which seemed high since the car only had about 10,000 miles on it and what they were claiming needed to be repaired didn't seem right. I picked the car up and took it to another service center where they repaired the vehicle for $79. I went back to uptown and told them what happened and asked for a refund on my $200 diagnostic fee and they told me they would not return the fee and had no explanation as to why their diagnosis was incorrect . I'm made an appointment and received an email saying someone will contact you five days later I still hadn't been contacted but I drove to the appointment anyway when I got there, I was informed by the receptionist that she canceled the appointment and said that they sent an email canceling the appointment which is untrue. I'm satisfied with my experience here. I took my used but new to us SUV here for a pre-purchase inspection. I grew up in my family's auto shop and do majority of my own repairs/maintenance, but they were able to point out some things that I wouldn't have noticed at all with the body and drivetrain. They also pointed out some things I wouldn't have thought to even look at. For instance the rear struts were mismatched. One was OEM the other was aftermarket. They should be replaced in pairs. Would you just replace one tennis shoe if it had a hole in it? That's not anything I would've caught or thought to look at until there were noticeable handling issues. They also pointed out failing/noisy pump. Realistically all minor problems. I took their report back to the dealer and asked them to make it right by replacing the rear struts with a matching pair, and to replace the failing pump. They acknowledged the problems, agreed with the findings, but refused to replace the pump and told me replacing one strut meets their service standards. If these are the dealer's service standards, I don't want any car that has been on their lot. They lost a $50k+ sale over literally a couple hundred dollars in parts that I could've replaced in my driveway in less than an hour. So thanks to Paul and Uptown Auto Specialist for pointing these things out and helping me dodge a bullet by getting to see how bad this dealership's service standards are. I've read other reviews about Paul being rude, I found that to be not the case. He's blunt, short, and straight to the point. Again, growing up in auto shops most mechanics I've been around are just that. It can be easily mistaken for being rude if you're not used to people being blunt with you. As far as price. I knew what the price was before getting there, if I thought it was unfair I wouldn't have gone. If I buy another used car, which it looks like I'll have to, I won't hesitate bringing it back here for another inspection. Hundreds of dollars now can save you thousands down the line. read more

This sad mean old man stole my car. I have waited a while to write this review, literally took me three months to calm down. Every review on yelp is absolutely accurate of what he will do and any review you find telling you otherwise he has his secretary write. He will keep your car for months, perform thousands of dollars of unauthorized maintenance on your car and lie straight to your face. He is a crook. He put USED pieces in my vintage car without okaying it, charged me $2000 and didn't even fix my car. I thought he was scamming me so I had my mom call him and then when I went to go tow it out of his facility he blames it on my sweet mother sayin she told him to do whatever he wanted. She never said that, he's crazy and just a pathetic excuse of a business. I Called the cops and they said I had to take him to court, yeah let's pay $2k for a non working car you had for over a year didn't call me once, plus lawyer fees. He knows what he's doing, he steals your car and I'm sure he can all of a sudden fix it once it's in his possession. This guy belongs in jail. OVERPRICED & RUDE!!! Do not support this shop. I brought my car in to get the alternator replaced. They were ridiculously overpriced! Once I decided to get the car towed to another shop, they were not the warmest toward me. I paid the diagnostic fee (also high!) and waited for the tow truck to come. My car had been parked for me in a space close to the road. My car could not be turned on and moved, so when the tow truck arrived, the driver had to block access to the road to lift my car onto the truck. The driver was doing his best to be quick and efficient. We were blocking cars and creating traffic but no one was complaining. THEN the man who I'm assuming was one of the owners or mechanics came outside, jumped up on the tow truck and started YELLING at the driver for going slow, blocking traffic and not doing his job. He also muttered a racist comment under his breath (mechanic was white and tow driver was black). ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! He was way out of line and had no business interfering with the tow or the driver who was doing a fine job and remaining calm. The mechanic from the shop proceeded to yell threats as he went into the shop. I found out later that the mechanic called the tow driver's boss and complained. I did assure the driver's boss that the driver was nothing but calm and was definitely doing his job. read more

Flat out rude people here, both the owner and his office receptionist. On paperwork they misreported error codes car was giving. I was sure they were wrong and receptionist was sassy and blew me off and wouldn't confirm or have anyone double check. I had someone else with a phone app come in to confirm they were not reporting the correct codes. I was right, they weren't but after they didn't even apologize. They just said, "oh, that was a mistake." Yea, I know. You should have listened when I told you that and not force me to come in to prove it." In addition to the rude attitudes and incompetence in basic diagnosis reporting, I was told I could supply my own parts before bringing in vehicle. Then after diagnosis they informed me the part they needed they would have to order. Autozone had part in stock but suddenly the owner refused to let me bring in my own parts. So instead of being able to get work done that day, would have to wait up to a week for no good reason. Then I caught them trying to sneak on an extra $20 random "shop supplies" fee that wasn't disclosed when I agreed for work to be done estimate. They couldn't even explain what "supplies" would be used on top of what would and should already be covered as part of the hefty diagnosis fee I did agree to. After simply asking to speak with the owner so I could understand why suddenly they refused to let me supply part needed so I could get the job finished and why they tacked on undisclosed fees, and why they can't report error codes correctly, the owner told me to take my business elsewhere and refused to even do the work with his parts anyway (which again, I'd have up to a week's wait for them to arrive). I already knew I'd have to stand there and literally watch them every second while they did the work if they even would have done it because I had zero trust left in their honesty or integrity. Despite refusing to perform the repair the owner still kept the diagnosis fee. I'm still not sure if this shop is a scam and shyster operation or they are just rude and grossly incompetent. Either way, thats a lose-lose situation and I highly advise anyone to stay away from this "business" I wish I had done some research and read reviews as there are so many bad reviews and I could have avoided this horrible shop. read more

Charged $400 for a new battery. We had our Jeep towed to Uptown Auto Specialist when the battery died and we were unable to open the hood to jump it. It was clear the cable for the hood latch was stretched out. After working on it for 3 hours, they called and let us know it would cost $800 to fix. No one asked permission to work on it and no papers were signed before the work began. I am not sure how a group of specialized mechanics took 3 hours to open a hood and change a battery but there you have it. When I went to pick up the Jeep, declining changing the hood latch because we were told replacing the battery only would cost the low low price of $400 (I can do math - so it costs an additional $400 to change the wires for a hood release?), I was asked to sign the paperwork giving permission for the technicians to work on the car and agreeing to a $120 diagnostic fee. After the work had been. This is absurd. After taking the Jeep back home, the air conditioning isn't working and the radiator light is on. I stopped by to get an estimate for a brake job on a 2012 GLK, the receptionist was so rude and nonchalant, I guess they don't need repeat customers, she told me I needed to make an appointment to have an estimate for a brake job and that there will be a diagnostic fee. We took our Jeep in to get a new battery and they quoted it at 700 dollars. We called the Jeep dealership and they said they could do it for $250. Completely tried to swindle us. Then when we asked if we could pick it up the following morning because they were about to close, the lady told us no and said because they weren't servicing it and that she could leave the keys in the tank. I had a problem with my Jaguar xk could not get the top to work I called and asked if they work on Jaguars and the girl that answered the phone told me that they do so I brought my car for them to check it out.When I got there a man by the name of Paul greeted me and told me to fill up a paper and write down what the problem is so I did and I signed it that was Thursday morning I called back to check if the car is ready and they told me to call back Friday, called back Friday and told me that the car will not be ready and they close Sat and Sun so I went back Friday at 4 PM to pick up my car and the lady that write the tickets told me that they could not fix it and that I owe $194 for diagnoses and I told her that the car is not fixed and that top was bent and the seats had grease on the leather she told me if I don't pay she will not give me my car, So I paid and I had a mechanic came by my house Saturday and took him 20 minutes to fix the top and charged me $100. So DO NOT bring your car this place it is a rip off and the mechanics that they have should be flipping burgers instead of working on cars. read more

I brought my car in to have the AC compressor replaced. They had the car for two days before even looking at it. I was EXPLICITLY clear that they should call me with an estimate once they looked at it before doing any work. I was assured more than once I would receive an estimate before any work was done on the car. They did not call. Luckily I called in the middle of the day (they said they would call me back, they didn't, so I had to call them) and they had taken the car apart WITHOUT my permission, and informed me it would be a 2,000 repair. I immediately checked online for estimates, and then called Uptown Imports for an estimate. They quoted 1,100 I told Uptown Auto Specialist to put my car back together and not proceed with any work. They made me wait ANOTHER WHOLE DAY (I brought it in on Thursday, could not be seen on Friday, had to wait over the weekend, & bring it in on Monday, and finally had it done on TUESDAY), and implied they would be charging me for taking the car apart which I had NEVER AUTHORIZED. If you're looking to set money on fire & waste time simultaneously, this is the mechanic for you. read more

They charged me $181.00 for a computer diagnostics check. I took it in b/c of an engine light, they ran the check and said it would be $1400 for a compete tune-up. I decided not to do it then and there because of the cost. I expected to pay $80-$100 for the computer check but to my surprise it was $165 + tax =$181. I guess Paul, the owner, needs to pay for that big new shop he has. My advice: go elsewhere!! He will over charge you BTW I took it to another shop and they charged $418 for a partial tune up and it runs great!! See you never again, Paul. read more

I brought my Bmw m5 to figure out why I was losing power. I would press the gas pedal and my car would delay on giving me power. There solution was my oxygen sensors were bad and quoted me 2k for repair. I payed and picked up my vehicle and called the owner/mechanic stating that it is having the same problem he stated " your car has to warm up before running smoothly". So I took it to another shop and they showed my it my mass air sensor and it was 250$ to repair vs 2k. Well I waisted my money and they did not know what they were doing. I brought my Audi A4 in for a coolant leak the Wednesday before Thanksgiving week. The work done was good. It was more expensive that I would've expected. My major complaint is that they couldn't fix the problem before the Thanksgiving Holiday (they originally told me it would be finished on Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving) so I was stuck during the holiday break without my car. GF took her Civic ,which she regularly has serviced, in because the service engine light was on. That night she told me they wanter $2200 for service. The next morning I called and asked what they were doing for that price. I don't drive the car much but it is a '14 so it can't have 50000 miles on it. In addition to changing all the fluids, they are rotating the tires of which 2 are 4 weeks old, replacing a front drive shaft because a boot was split and adjusting the valves which need to be checked at 110000 miles.
