Staff (aides) had attitudes and made you feel like it was a bother to be called. My husband would be helped to the bathroom, and then left on the toilet alone, sometimes as long as 45 minutes. The food was awful. The case manager seemed vindictive if you spoke up. I don't recommend this place, but hate to say too much, because my husband may have to go back there some time.

I stopped in the other Day and was happy to see some of the same staff that really helped me during my last stay review below. I had left a GOOGLE review but thought they would appreciate this one. I was embarrassed a bit as I remembered one of my favorite staffers an OT's name as she really helped me relearn how to walk. I forgot the name of a lady that helped me every day face palm . I don't think she recognized me when I said hello , as she was nice it is OK it has been well over a year . I think I also recognized the lady at the desk but I don't remember her name being Jay lol on her tag. I dropped off some fun 3d trinkets and Chocolate for the staff (aha I trust she shared lol it is OK it was squirreled away , seriously the worlds best chocolate bar flown in from Dubai) as I was originally a scheduled for Surgery on the 13th to wind up there the 14th, then it was rescheduled and I figured I may need bribes lol and I'll be on my best behavior I promise. At any rate I would have spent more time but everyone was busy managing and helping everyone. I did get stuck temporarily in the elevator with a friendly nurse , we both thought is the elevator moving , happily the door opened and wound up singing in a stairwell to laughter from somewhere , a song for Sloans, great acoustics. Oh there are plenty of elevators as well , I'm laughing as I was probably pranked :) If I go back I'll definitely bring an acoustic guitar as the place is missing music. Inside joke I'm a legend in my own mind and the bingo was fun as well but their are Bingo sharks in there. I was recently published coauthored Inside NeXT available on eBay so yes I'll continue to write , so more entertaining than one would expect , Time Traveling an adventure from a guy immobilized in a bed surviving MRSA saved by angels, I had to relearn how to walk , crazy stuff oh my happens when portals open up at sloans , fiction and non fiction why be boring, , some all ages , some you find in the overly romantic book clubs meets cosmo lol some kept secret squirrel aha . It is/was always a fun mix of folks of all ages , staff is great some true gem personalities , yes names changed . I don't know if a handlebar mustache is a requirement with an old timey hat , ha but that would be kind of funny. Including the chef hat making the pasta. ## Original review I have been here 6 weeks and have made friends with a lot of the staff. They have been friendly , responsive and very helpful . I was thankful for them helping me learn to walk again and it has been a 2 1/2 month journey as I almost died from sepsis. I'm finally going home tomorrow. . The PT and OT staff are amazing . The food depends on the chef lol doesn't it always as it can be fantastic or not so much an alternative there is a great cafe in the lobby that makes an awesome burger $4.50 add fries 1.50 :) yes I would recommend Sloans Lake Rehabilitation center, incredible view of Downtown Denver and or the mountains and lake . My parents in their 80's found it convenient for practically daily visits as well. It is also kept clean and the staff in previous ratings no longer work here and management is not afraid to justly make personnel changes when justified . Respect and kindness My mother in law was Admitted to The…read moreCenter at Lowry right around the holidays, this was a very tough one, little did we know that everyone from the Driver that drove her from the hospital to the center, the ladies at the front desk that greeted all of us as we walk in to the unknown, The medical team and all the way to the beautiful cleaning ladies that took the time to chat with her wile the room was being clean, even the maintenance guy! That came to see a small bathroom issue took the time to make sure she was doing ok, The chef that made sure she understood the menu. Our family has nothing but respect for everyone at the Center. They made us feel that she was in good hands everyday as we left the building. Her care team was AWSOME! But her Physical Therapy's that made her gain her confidence to walk again ware God send. This was our true and honest experience, we our very thankful.

The pt department is the only thing good about this place. 2nd day i was there drs wanting to…read morechange medication didn't have the insulin I use took me off of xarelto after getting blood clots going to hospital they put me on xarelto but when I went back to lowry snf switched it to more cheaper blood thinner when I was suppose to be on xarelto for 4 weeks 1 week at hospital had 3 weeks left and dr Cahill switched it to a cheaper one and lies about it said kaiser wanted the cheaper one even nurse lied to my wife on why they switched any how I was there for rehab had spinal cord surgery I was there 4 days and no pt played in bed 24 hrs had a cough with phylem my wife said I had pneumonia kept bugging me to tell dr so I did he called wife dr decided to send me to hospital where ct scan showed blood clots on both lungs 1 close to my heart so another 2 days I probly would of died and they all should no not to leave patient immobile 24 hrs one day let alone 4 went back to lowry snf now on blood thinner has to be taken 1 in morning and 12 hrs later think nurses gave me my meds when I was suppose to get them 10 o'clock at night push button for help to go to bathroom came an hour later so they had to clean the mess couple nurses knew what they were doing but the majority had no clue. Kaiser/ medicare pays for 21 days of pt so supposedly lowry discharged me when I was sent to hospital cause its 700.00 a day so when I went back there after my surgery I thought 21 days would start over but didn't find out that my 21 days ended july 6th and case worker came to my room a week after said I was approved for 7-10 days well another person came to my room on july 11th said my 21 days was up on july 6th a d my copay was 203.00 a day and I told her well brandy case worker had just told me I was approved for 7-10 days this person said yes you are approved but you have gone over 21 days so there's a copay plus for the 7- 10 days approved i told person brandy never told me anything about when 21 days was up or there's a copy for what I just got approved so when my wife found out on the 13th july she called brandy and asked her why she failed to tell me about 21 days was up and didn't tell why she didn't say got approved for more days but didn't tell me about copay brandy said we'll we can try to get it approved without copay wife told her she scamming patients by not telling when she knew and called her a lying bitch wife called me said she's comming to get me next day but discharge wasn't till the 14th wife said we were not paying for anymore days its going to be 1800.00 so I'm home and even though I liked the pt department I advise you DO NOT GO To This SNf care at lowry there's no pt on sat i guess and couple Sundays I didn't get ant pt the reason I was there to be able to walk get strength back but it felt like a nursing home so if when I get a bill for 9 days I need to get days I didn't get pt taken off so if you do go there and insurance only pays for x amount if days keep track and when they say you been approved for more days ask how much us going to cost me

Unfortunately, my mother was a resident of Holly Heights Nursing Care Center and Rehabilitation…read morefrom December, 2023 to December, 2024. She passed away on December 3, 2024. I believe the extremely poor quality of her life there, and the lack of medical attention shortened her life significantly. During the first six months of her residency, she received subpar day-to-day care. She did have one CNA that she really liked, but she left when management changed. Complaints during this time period included being soiled for extended periods, slow response to the call button (upward of an hour), filthy living conditions, a mouse infestation, no emotional support and overall rude management that dismissed the family's concerns. My mother's vision greatly declined so it was hard for her to use a phone. We had to rely on staff to bring her a phone to have any type of communication. The staff was always so put out with this request, and would often hang up on family members. You were lucky if someone even answered the phone! It was hit or miss. Fast forward to September, 2024. This is when my mother truly suffered and declined. Ownership changed, which included a whole new administrative staff. They also cut staff and wages for existing employees (which was relayed to me by one staff member). Mom suffered a stroke that sent her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the stroke was undiagnosed by the hospital. She should have had an MRI performed. While in the hospital, she was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. This to me, is a result of her not receiving proper hygiene care from staff. The biggest health concern, is that my mother was complaining of lower abdomen pain. This was ignored by the staff, doctor and social worker that got involved due to the family constantly asking for help. Because the facility refused to have additional testing done, the family had to go outside of the facility for further testing. As a result of a CT Scan, it was recommended that a colonoscopy be performed. By the time we got the clearance for this procedure from the Cardiologist, it was too late. We waited 8 months for this health condition to be addressed by the facility. My mother was just too weak for the procedure. I believe she had a serious health condition, as this was a hereditary condition that we were concerned about. The food menu changed dramatically once ownership changed. Many food items were discontinued, and food quality was so bad. Many residents complained of how awful the food is. How do I know this? Well, because many residents shared this with me. The food was so bad, that my mother had no desire to eat. Also, due to her stroke, she was unable to properly feed herself. The food was just dropped on her table. She had to fend for herself, and it was a real struggle for her. Every time family visited my Mother, we consistently had to clean off the food that was slopped on her chest, bedding and the floor. She was not able to hold a cup without spilling the contents all over herself and floor. We eventually purchased a non-spill cup for her. My mother was severely depressed in this facility and declined quickly as a result of living conditions and lack of empathy from the staff. The activity director only visited my mother one time (toward end of life). My mother's existence consisted of laying in bed all day, with headphones attached, listening to the same TV program over and over again. Unfortunately, I was out of state, so my visits were not as frequent as I'd like. They did become more frequent once I learned of the appalling living conditions. When I did visit, I was shocked, deeply saddened at what my poor mother succumbed to. She felt helpless and just checked out emotionally. All of the above was reported to the facility, Ombudsman, Colorado Health Department and Adult Protective Services. An inspection was completed by the Health Department 1 1/2 months from my initial complaint. This was just too late. The facility was fully aware of pending inspections from various agencies, so they were able to portray a false impression of what normal conditions are really like because of the heads up. It should be noted, that the staff often blamed my mother the lack of her care. So, let's blame a stroke victim for her declining care? It's just easier for them this way I guess. She did this because she dreaded interacting with many employees, especially the social worker and the new management team. Her concerns fell on deaf ears. This is so shameful and inexcusable! Sadly, new management (director and nursing director) was not accountable in any way for the lack of care for my mother. I was told that weekly communication with the family was a courtesy only and should not be expected, and that they had lives outside of work. Yep, that's what we were told on a phone conference. If you are considering Holly Heights for the care of your loved one, please do your due diligence!

After hip replacement surgery, I was an inpatient here for two weeks (March 7-21, 2024)--I did not…read morego anywhere else during this time. They rightly earn at least one star due to excellent PT and OT plus Bella (OT) and Bea (aide), bright lights who made my time there bearable. Wheatridge Manor missed a chance for a higher rating because they almost killed me with a wrong assessment and then a 10-hour delay of needed treatment on March 21. I had contracted strep A sepsis there (and went into kidney failure), necessitating ambulance transport from Wheatridge Manor to Lutheran Hospital ER where they fought for hours to save my life. Source of infection: untreated bug bites (about 3-19 at Wheatridge Manor) which became infected and then developed into a bad case of cellulitis. Additional details: from the time (around 4am) of my first physical symptoms on the morning of March 21 (pain, uncontrollable shaking, vomiting; a few hours later, expressive aphasia--inability to process language), the night nurse Pam and day nurse Jennifer wrongly assessed me as experiencing a panic attack due to "anxiety" about going home. Pam also chewed me out for taking time away from other patients who "really" needed her care (my friend witnessed that unpleasant exchange). I was in and out of awareness for the rest of that day. This terrified me (my symptoms as well as being ignored and dismissed by the nursing staff) as I knew something was very, very wrong. Needing support and a witness, I called my friend (retired nurse). She arrived at the facility around 5am and stayed with me all day. Finally, around 2pm, I asked her to phone my high school BFF in Houston who's a doctor. Dr friend had two words for us: "Ambulance now!" Wheatridge's day nurse, Jennifer, only made the phone call due to pressure from my witness. These two dear friends, along with Lutheran's ER and other medical personnel, saved my life. Accordingly, I do not recommend Wheatridge Manor for anyone. Yes, the PT and OT are great, but the rest of the facility lacks adequate, coordinated care. However, if that place seems the best placement for your loved one, be sure to check on them frequently and to advocate for their needs or they may either almost die like me, or actually die, from inadequate care.
