I brought a pair of pants , went home they had a little rip in it .. went back next day with my receipt and tag still on pants .. just wanted to do an exchange for something else . The lady told me no they could not because I did not provide them my phone number day before . Now when I was checking out the girl NEVER said to me "oh in order to return or exchange a phone number is needed" . Terrible experience at this place ! read more

As a seller, I found the staff to be very sneaky. I brought in 1 ikea bag of clothing, 1 ikea bag of shoes in boxes, and 1 ikea bag of purses. As I have never sold to a consignment store before and had brought in all high dollar brands, I asked that they give me a quote on the items before taking them. The staff kept telling me to go walk around and made it quite clear they did not like me hovering while they went through my items. When they gave me a quote they had already swept away all the items they intended to buy, so I had no idea what they were actually providing the estimate on. The items they didn't take, they re-bagged (messily) into black garbage bags so I couldn't even determine what was selected from what I started with. When I got home, I established it to be roughly $2000 dollars worth of coach purses and 1 pair of shoes and a few pieces of clothing... For which I was paid $140. Whether the price was competitive or not, I don't know and it doesn't matter for the purpose of this review. My point is that I recommend you walk in knowing exactly what's in your bag and watch as they go through your items and select the pieces they will purchase... I was told they didn't purchase any jewelry, yet the sapphire necklace I had in a bag of jewelry I brought in was taken also. This place is shady at best. Please learn from me... I have never sold to an Uptown Cheapskate before and was excited to give it a try. Walk in, was not greeted, had to ask how to sell clothes and told to press the button on an iPad. Then I had to ask again who I gave my bags to, and told him I was going to grab lunch while they looked through. I managed a Plato's Closet, so I know this process can take a little time and I didn't want them to feel rushed. The paper he gave me said I would get a call when my buy was finished. 1 1/2 hours later I still had no call, so I went back in to check the progress. My buy was done, no explanation given as to passes and they took one pair of boots for 6$. I expect a little more explanation, especially since I brought in a lot of great brands (free people and Kate spade to name a few) I understand there is a lot to do in a resale store, but I assure you my store was always a lot busier and I still held my employees accountable for giving guests explanations and tips for what we wanted read more

This store has great service and stylish clothes. The staff are so helpful and the store is organized. Whenever I go to this store, I can get in and out due to fast service. Whenever I need help with something, it is easy to find a staff member and they attend to my needs and meet my expectations as a customer. I went to browse but I found clothes on clearance for me. Active wear for a good price & I found polos for my boyfriend for a good price and some of the clothes even has the original tag on them! The staff was super friendly and helpful! When I was checking out the, the system couldn't find me in the system because I usually go to another location but she gave me the 15% discount since it's my birthday month anyway! I brought in about 75 items to sell. They wanted to buy 20 of them. They offered me $45.00, which comes to approximately $2.00 per item. All my items were clean, unwrinkled and stain free. The items that they wanted to buy included a pair of women's rainbows (worn about 10 times), men's vans, sperrys, adidas basketball shoes, hollister, ae, abercrombie, white house/black market, express, ann taylor, pacsun and others. I decided Not to sell after mulling over the Low offer for the items. I asked to speak to the owner about the ridiculously low offer. She came over. I began to tell her how insulting the offer was and that this business should be embarrassed to offer such low prices. She told me that the "computer" generated the offers and that dictated the prices. I tried to explain to her that this business is "ripping off" any potential sellers. She told me that "she was busy" and began talking over me. She did not care if or what my opinion was and was very clear that she does not handle controversy very well. However, her staff tried to make up for her arrogance and inability to have a conversation with a dissatisfied buyer. They were friendly and cooperative and even carried my items out to the car for me. Beware of this store's business model. They will give you next to nothing for your items. Unfortunately, they buy from a lot of young people who may not realize the value of their clothing items. You are better off donating to goodwill and writing off for your donation on your taxes, selling on ebay or craigslist or giving to friends and family. I will not support this store by selling or buying from them. If you do need the cash, go to Plato's Closet on University City Boulevard. They will give you at least twice as much as cheapskate does for your items. read more

after taking my bin of clothing they asked me come to retrieve clothing they couldn't use. when i got home items where missing this is unacceptable would'nt recommend to shop here. read more

I had an easy time finding a t shirt in my size and was able to get a changing room quickly and someone was able to check me out immediately. The cashier was friendly and helpful. read more

Terrible experience and terrible customer service. I sold here for the first time and they didn't even show my what they bought and didn't tell me when I sign the piece of paper I couldn't get anything back. I'll stick to Plato's from here on out. read more

Thought this place would be a great alternative to Platos closet but I was definitely wrong. First off prices are the same if not higher than if it was bought at the store it came from. Then they don't offer military discount, but offer student.. not all students just if you go to UNCC. The cashier was extremely rude to top it all off. Won't be going back ever. read more

It's hard to give this place even one star! Th staff are so rude and not really helpful whatsoever! Take your clothes to Plato closet! I guarantee you you'll get more for what you've paid for! And also be aware they'll rob you by processing your buy without telling if you leave the store and not come back by certain time! read more

I love a good bargain BUT what I hate about bargain shopping is plowing through piles of unorganized chaos to find a great deal. THANKFULLY that is not what happens at this store. There is plenty of high quality, great condition clothes, shoes and accessories - all organized incredibly well. I've jut found this jewel and have only been in twice but both times the staff have been super helpful and accommodating. I recently sold a few things to the store as well - easy process that took place while we shopped and then used our credit to purchase. On my recent visit there was a computer glitch that caused power/connection to shut down right in the middle of ringing up my items, so I had to wait a little while to finish out my purchase. Cashier was pleasant and apologetic during the whole situation and then gave me a $5 coupon to use on my next purchase to thank me for my patience. I'll be back in a few weeks - to sell a few more things and get a few more things too! The door says they stop buying at 6pm and I rush over from work and 30 minutes to 6pm they said they have stop buying because they are too busy? That's the sorriest excuse. I'm a manager in a restaurant if our line is out the door we don't stop the line until the hour that's stated on the door. I've also worked in a buy/sell retail store just like this and we NEVER stopped buying until we closed. You could possibly miss out on some great clothing and accessories that could make you someone's favorite place to shop. This is how you lose business and respect from your community. read more

I didn't have the best experience here! I've only been here twice, the second time I was going back in to exchange something. I walked around for a long time trying to figure out what else to get for my exchange. When I finally picked out items, I got to the register and I assume I got the manager of the store! So I told her I wanted to exchange something and then she said ok no problem! I handed her the receipt and when she goes to look up my name in the system she said "it looks like you don't have an account with us so I can't exchange your item, sorry". I didn't know what she meant and she explained that apparently if your purchasing items from the store you have to make an account with them to exchange any items there! Now I'm getting a little upset because I explained that the first time I was at the store, the girl who rang me up never asked me if I wanted to make an account! Also I was never told if I didn't make an account I was not allowed to return items! Then she had the nerve to tell me that maybe the girl that day was busy so she didn't have time to tell me. I get that things get busy but that's just a really bad excuse to give to a customer. All that I'm saying is... if you have certain policies for your store, you have to let people know before they make the purchase! read more

This was the most racist business establishment ever. I took my clothes to them to sell & they tell me they aren't taking any spring or summer clothes when there is a huge sign outside saying they do. I had a bag of clothes that still had tags on them & the chick going to say that they are only accepting gently worn clothes. I almost cursed her out. Even when I walked in the girl behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me even though I was standing at the counter for a while waiting to be asked for help. I never had such a bad experience in a consignment store. Not even in Atlanta. They don't even have black people or people of ethnicity in this store. Instead of being upset & being mean I left went to Plato's closet & made $76.24 off of all my jeans, shoes, summer maxi dresses, summer shirts & hats. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS STORE & I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE I KNOW NEVER COMES. Thinking about reporting them to BBB. Save your gas, energy & time! read more
