This was nice when it first opened. The store had a wide array of clothing options and they would buy clothes from you for ALL AGES. But now don't even bother trying to sell your clothes to them. My friend and I came across this store as we were looking for a thrift store more tailored to our style. We were so happy when we walked in. I was particularly intrigued at their plus size selection as they go up to a size 2x. While I was in the store I also heard another girl mention that so 1 star for inclusion! The staff was very friendly as well and also told us that there was a Miami and St. Petersburg location which we were so happy to hear. My only disappointment comes from when we were leaving the store. My friend purchased 3 items and the detector went off. We went back to the counter and instantly the cashier who checked us out said "it must be the hat." However, there were sensors on all 3 items that she purchased. I'm still trying to figure out how he missed it. The end of our experience was quite embarrassing to say the least as we were the only Black people. Update 01/19/2021: I'm not quite sure how to respond on Yelp so I will leave it here. Thank you for confirming the locations of the other two Florida stores. However, both my friend and I know what was told to us and we even laughed and I made a point to sag "St. Pete that's right down the street." You should really take this as an opportunity to better educate the individuals at this location. Thank you for also acknowledging that perhaps it was a busy day and they "forgot." A fair experience with selling. Wish I would have gotten offered more since some items were high end and in demand, and basically brand new! uptown is such a careless establishment. was in there this morning shopping and while i was browsing, i got stabbed by a needle. one of the needle sensors on the clothes had absolutely no back on it, so the very long and sharp needle was sticking out of the clothes and struck me. i brought the item to the counter and explained and all i got from the employee was "sorry". no manager was notified or anything else. thankfully have my tetanus shot ‍ the employees there are so uninterested in their job that they put out an exposed needle onto the floor, they're too busy gossiping and hanging out behind the counter to actually do their jobs. getting stabbed by a needle while shopping is definitely a first for me, unfortunately i know no action will come from this. sad. read more

My favorite resale store!! There is always such a good variety of clothes for both men and woman! I like that there is always a good inventory ranging from athletic, casual, dressy, and business. There are always little sales on sticker colors or an additional % off. They went bagless which is so environmentally friendly and I love they stand by that core belief in all aspects. Good place to shop and find a deal. When it comes to selling your items, they are extremely picky and even after checking their list of items they needed it was an underwhelming experience. Definitely a better option than Plato's Closet, but not the greatest when it comes to selling. You are better off using Mercari and Poshmark to get more of your money back, unless you don't have the time. I had some items that I felt they probably wouldn't take, but was shocked by some that they didn't. For example, trendy summer dresses/rompers and a new with tag Free People crop top from last season. No consistency. It seems like more people go there to sell than shop, and that's what limits them when it comes to buying your clothes. My advice would be to work on selling your current inventory so you can keep buying more of peoples clothing, so you don't end up frustrating people bringing you your fresh inventory. read more

I brought in 2 bags of clothes. One of men's clothing and one women's clothing. Most of them had tags or were only lightly used. Also current brands. They took nothing. And gave me everything back mixed and unorganized. I y took them to Label Swap, even though they accept 10 per day. They accepted most of my clothes and gave me more than I thought they would. Label swap is definitely recommended! They are really friendly and provide respectable cash back or in-store credit. Their products are very reasonably priced and of excellent quality! read more

I love coming to uptown cheapskate. Not only do they have incredibly cute second hand clothes, but they also have a couple of their own designs for sale that I think are absolutely the cutest. They are a bit pricer, but they're unique and very nice looking. The selection is more than great. I would liken this to a classier/cuter Plato's closet without an uptick in price. I can find cute, casual outfits, great fits for work (where I have to be a bit more professional), and clothes just for lounging around the house. Did I mention the organized layout of the store? It's very easy to skip all the sizes you don't fit in and just get straight down to business. I don't have much spare money to spend on clothes, which is why coming here is such a treat. I love thrift stores and buying second hand so when I saw that this store opened literally 10 minutes away from me I had to check it out. And I was not disappointed! I found a Burberry cable knit and trench coat (both valued at more than $200+) for a grand total of $67. Talk about a steal! This place is great for finding in style clothing at a discounted price. I also went in to sell some clothes, purses and shoes I didn't need. I expected to get maybe $20-$30 cuz that's how much Plato's closet usually gives me. NOPE!! $57 and an offer for $71 store credit. I was expecting to be completely indifferent to Uptown Cheapskate but I ended up loving it. Apparently this used clothing store is a chain, but I had never heard of it before. The store is quite nice looking with a lot of inventory. The selection of women's items vastly outnumbers the men's, but the fellas still have a good selection to choose from. I couldn't tell that the clothes had been gently worn before and I was shocked at how cheap the prices were. I got shirts from brands such as Calvin Klein and Hurley for at least 70% cheaper than a retail store. The only thing I thought was odd is that they sell swimwear. So I first came to their store, hoping to turn in some of my clothes, hoping to get a little cash back. I ended up turning in 6 items, 2 dresses, 2 tank tops, a shirt, and a long skirt. I ended up being offered $20 total for the entirety of it, as well as any "no-thank you"s that they return back to you. When I asked for a breakdown of the price, they said that they didn't have an exact breakdown, but shirts were normally in the $2-3 range, dresses were around the $3-4 range. They offer up a cash price, as well as a slightly higher store credit that is linked to your phone number. I ended up taking the cash price, but still roamed around for a bit. As far as their prices go, I would say that you are most likely able to find the same prices for the same items at places like Ross. As far as their store layout goes, I will say that they are very organized. The store is divided into the different types of clothing, as well as women's and men's.
