Let me start by saying I decided to start going to Uptown cause it was a smaller non franchise establishment, I figured they would take care of their customers. Now I find myself looking for another place to take my family. This would be the second time I had an issue with a pair of glasses and this time there was no difference. The first time my wife was having issues with dirt getting between the frame and the lenses only to be told that they could try to clean them for us but if they break they break so it was a choice we had to make and they would not be responsible. Couple of days ago I brought mine in because of smudges that was smearing both lenses. After the tech took one look she stated that is was the scratch resistant if I'm not mistaken. What frustrated, annoyed, and disappointed me was that she stated "yeah it happens" and "that it is no longer under warranty". Glasses can expire, wow. I've been wearing glasses for 40 years now and never had anything like this happen. Bottom line is, I didn't think that a little after two years and $900 later they would do absolutely nothing to try to remedy the situation. I can barely see through them. I have been going here for about 10 years and even though there have been staff changes, including doctors, the kindness and professionalism is always there. The eye doctors at this location are super. Very hard to get appointments but they are busy. The quality of doctor is great but the part where they sell eyeglasses and fill the prescriptions are horrible. I have bought glasses from them over the last 2 years and they can never ever get the prescription (progressive lenses) correct. Also, on so many occasions, after spending hundreds on glasses, they would not adjust my frames ( they sent me away as "too busy"). The front desk staff and eyeglass sales people are less than helpful. Inlimit my recommendation to the doctor visit only. read more

My husband and I bought 2 eye glasses each and all of them needed to be returned because the prescriptions were bad. when we got them back after waiting 7 weeks, the prescription were still bad. we paid over $800 for nothin. They don't allow return. When we said that we never had a problem there, one of the front clerks responded "there is always a first time". Customer service is not good. They lie about the ETA of the prescriptions. If Dr. McCan doesn't pay attention to his staff, his practice will go down. I have gone for years but lately it has not been the same. Spent over 1000 on glasses and my regular everyday glasses did not come out the same as my previous prescription. I am out good money because I cannot use them. They said they verified the prescription and according to them it is the same as last year's prescription but I cannot see through them. This one hurts my soul. Mainly because we have been patients for over 6 years. Two the staff used to be SO LOVELY and always made sure you were aware of everything. We've seen the office grow from not just ONE location but to a second in Lake Nona where we live. And to multiple doctors which are so nice. We would always mention this place for not just regular glasses but sunglasses because they always had the best selections. Last year alone we purchased 4 glasses out of pocket which is well over 2k between my family. Now 6 weeks ago we dealt with someone not putting in our order waiting two days for them to figure it out and telling the same story who knows how many time. We are now 6 weeks and my dad that paid out of pocket for new glasses has yet to receive them! I called and they left a message to someone to Have them call me back that management would call me by Friday to talk to the tech that worked with us. It was a MANAGER I spoke to last who gave us a discount for the issue and now we don't know what's going on? It's a new year ! If we would've known we would've waited to now to have our insurance take care of it. Now I'm sitting here waiting for a call back and no glasses! STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE there's so many new places in Lake Nona now that take VSP and have high end glasses. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over 3 years and have brought my entire family here--we're five in total. Just 3 months ago, I bought a pair of glasses and one of the legs broke. We didn't bring them in right away because my son had final exams and needed them to study and finish his tests, so we used a bit of glue as a temporary fix. When we finally went to claim the warranty, they refused to cover it for that reason. At no point were we told that doing so would void the warranty. I'm very disappointed in how they handled the situation. After so many years of loyalty, you expect better treatment and clearer communication. We won't be coming back. read more

i spent $500 for just lenses here. they promised them in 2 weeks, I waited 5 for my regular glasses and 6 weeks for my sunglasses. The lenses were wrong so they sent them back promising them in 1 week on a "rush". Another lie, waited 3. Frustrated I told one of the girls Ive been going here for 12 years never had a problem, her response was "well there's always a first time". If I was an owner she should have been fired for her ignorant uncaring answer. Anyway, $500 later, my lenses are still wrong and they won't refund me. Im using my old glasses again. They are incompetent, unprofessional, they lie and they really don't care. I will say the exam itself was amazing. They saw me right away and the dr took care to explain everything carefully. Otherwise exactly what you would expect from a place who does glasses. My overall experience was tainted after a follow up phone call regarding my husbands glasses with Jackson who's attitude I could feel straight through the phone when I asked about how much longer as MY glasses were back in the time they'd originally quoted me (about a week) When I went to pick mine up the other lady said one of hubby's lenses was wrong. That being said I was originally going to 5 star them until the attitude. You pay $300+ for frames (cost me about $500 w insurance and hubby about $400 w insurance)etc you expect 5 star service. read more

I hate to leave a one star review for any business. Unfortunately 'not good' sums up my experience here. The reason I came here in the first place was all the great Yelp reviews. I ignored the suggestion of my wife to go where we we have purchased glasses in the past. I pointed out the much lower Yelp reviews there. So Uptown is obliviously doing things right to get good reviews. I even waited to do this review until I got my next pair of glasses just in case the problem was with my eyes or prescription. I got my eyes examined by the same optometrist that has been doing this for our entire family for over 30 years. I then brought the prescription here to get my progressive glasses and sunglasses. They had a great selection of frames and I was able to find two that I was very happy with. I explained that I spent most of my time staring at a computer screen - so that was a very important consideration to me. They fitted me for my glasses and I eagerly awaited for them to come in. I came back in and anticipated trying them out. That's when things all went south. Reading: Nope! Very narrow field of view and never in sharp focus. Computer screen: hell no! Impossible to read small fonts and even large objects were out of focus. Distance: Looked great! This is where they turned agitated and started with the finger pointing. They said the prescription must be wrong then and that I needed to contact my optometrist. So I did that. I explained the situation to him and he re-did my entire eye exam - same results. He said he could try tweaking one thing that may or may not help. Back I went with the new prescription then waited for the new lenses. Uptown kept warning me that they only get one free re-try with the lenses. They arrived and the second try was pretty much the same issues as the first try. They suggested I buy a third pair of glasses just for computer monitor viewing. What the... My old glasses didn't have this issue and I was already in this for $800. I can't believe they wanted to blame my prescription and not consider there was a problem with the fitting or the lenses themselves. This was real crappy customer service and it cost them my future business. I figured that maybe I just needed some time for my eyes to adjust. One, week. Two weeks. A month. Never got better - ever. Found myself taking my glasses off when using my phone and squinting when I looked at a monitor. My sunglasses would not even allow my dashboard gauges to be fully clear. They were better than no glasses at all but still no sharp focused gauges. So I lived with the worst (and most expensive) glasses I have ever owned for close to two years. I just got my eyes examined again by the same optometrist. My prescription had not changed. But this time I followed my wife's advice and bought my glasses at the chain store that he works inside of. Viola! I can now read my phone. I can see my computer monitor text clearly and car gauges as well. Distance vision is good too. I was told by the person that fitted me this time that the measurements that they took before were incorrect. Each eye focused at a different height. That is why things were never clear no matter how I tilted my head up and down. My eyes could never work together except for the top distance portion of the lenses. If you are buying progressive lens glasses you have been warned. I strongly recommend you go elsewhere. Try someplace that knows how to properly do a fitting for progressive lenses and will work with you until you are happy. read more

They Know how to make money at Uptown but........ they don't know how to handle customers who might just come back. They don't like kids and try and make it difficult you you to bring your kids. They don't encourage you to take your Prescription and find good glass frames at the right price elsewhere. They don't care if you have to wait. they don't care if your insurance doesn't cover them, they just don't care. They do care about your money though. This is a great office and they have two doctors who are bilingual so you can bring your family and do not have to wait long. They are very thorough on their exams. These doctor use all the most recent technology and methods. I have VSP insurance and they work with you to make the most of your insurance benefit. A lot of places charge contact fitting fees but really don't do much outside the sight review. Uptown gives you different brands to try and bring you back in to discuss and recheck you afterwards before order if you want. They make sure you understand the rebates and how to submit them. Tana is the best optician. If you are looking for a large selection including designer frames this is the place. Tana is really good at plucking various frames and helping you select one that compliments your face. She truly cares about you and asks about how you are doing and makes you feel so comfortable. She is the main reason we return year after year. If you have a problem you can go back and they will help you such as adjusting your frame etc. A couple times I had an eye infection and they saw me right away and billed my medical insurance. The office staff remains the same (Ashley) and they treat you like a valued customer. A couple yeas ago I referred a co-worker and was surprised to receive a Starbucks card . So if you go mention my name - haha So to summarize why to go to Uptown Eyecare? Overall the exam and visit with the doctor is normal eye care service. However, the manager is rude in person and over the phone. I had a bad experience last year was gonna give them another try but again the manager rude. Also, not family friendly. If your gonna put all families in one bubble and punish all for some action is not fair or great business move. Families can only book 2 members a day which means a family of 5 would need to schedule 3 appointment. I would not recommend Hunter Creek location, company policy to limit families and than this location non customer service and rudeness. read more

Had my first eye appointment at Uptown Eyecare yesterday (11/24/20). Very impressed. Office is nice, big, and clean. All employees wear a uniform and name tag. Felt like a professional environment. Best of all, Dr. Amita Patel was EXCELLENT! She was thorough, patient with my questions, and made sure I had the information and understanding I needed to make decisions. For example, she showed me, visually, the difference between my old contact lens prescription and my new one. No eye doctor had ever done this for me before, and it made me confident that my new prescription was correct. Finally, at the end of my appointment, she actually SUMMARIZED everything that had taken place. I loved this! Tried this place out located in Hunter's Creek Town Center. I was able to get an appointment the same day, which I am truly thankful for. The inside is really nice and staff is friendly. The doctor seemed very attentive to my needs as well. I was a little disappointed in the pricing though because I had called other eye doctors, and Uptown Eyecare is definitely on the higher end of pricing. Overall, a nice place with a variety of sunglasses as well but they are a little pricey for just a simple eye exam. read more
