I am a Realtor and have called upon Uptown many times in the past 12 years for their Move In / Move Out service. This is often called a deep clean and for me is always after the home sellers have moved out or for lease properties between tenants. They completed another of these yesterday and the fridge, oven, dishwasher, blinds, floors, toilets, and all surfaces were all great. I hired them to clean up my empty apartment (we live out of town). The cleaning was okay, and they helped us with the carpet cleaning. The issue is that they left one of my toilets running water. My realtor found out 10 days later, and I received a huge water bill at the end of that period. I communicated with the owner, and they rejected responsibility. I showed two bills prior to the cleaning, and one bill after the cleaning for water consumption comparison, and the owner chose to stay quiet. They are not members of the Better Business Bureau (BBB), so I can't submit a claim. Other businesses that provide the same service are BBB members; hire those. The most expensive cleaning. They need to develop some SOP, so they avoid leaving toilets running water. read more

I requested a deep clean. The women that showed up were nice and prompt, I will say that much. I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews - unless the service was extremely GOOD. But the more I'm looking around my house, the angrier I become. Their version of a deep clean is to take everything in sight and throw them in a drawer. I mean EVERYTHING. There was an iPad in my bathroom drawer. Cookies in my sock drawer. An empty Gogurt wrapper in my kids' drawers. I keep having to look in the strangest places to find things! On top of that, a ring of mine is missing. I'm not accusing them of stealing but I am saying if they didn't steal they put it somewhere that makes zero sense. If my house were already clean and didn't need anything put away then I would get this service but then I wouldn't need a deep clean, would I? Anyway, I wound up not paying for the service and they were very nice about it however, I do think this needs to be put out there. It could have very well just been the ladies who cleaned MY home. I would NOT recommend. This was such a disappointing experience and I would hate for anyone else to have to go through this. First off, we were supposed to receive a text message when the team was 30 minutes from showing up so that my husband would let them in. I get a call from our leasing office that they're trying to get our keys to the apartment at 11am which wasn't even the plan. Second off, the team broke a irreplaceable item which i'm quite unsure how they would have done that unless they were just trying to clean around it without picking it up. Third off, I truly feel like this was a rushed job. Once I got home there were still fingerprints on the television and dust on the light fixtures. When I emailed Uptown Maids Houston regarding this I was told that dusting light fixtures was not in their normal cleaning routine unless requesting.... Excuse me?! How is dusting not apart of their normal routine? She did offer to have them come back the next day but once they already broke one thing why would I want them back in my house? Fourth off, this morning as I go to put in my earrings from my bathroom "Mr. & Mrs. Dish" there is only one there. Somewhere in the cleaning process something happened which Im unsure what it was. I know that no one would steal only ONE earring but it must have flown off and no one noticed. Another reason that I KNOW this was a very rushed cleaning job. I didn't even bother messaging Uptown Maids regarding this... I'm just so ready to put this horrible experience behind me. Just used them for my little old rink-a-dink apartment....INCREDIBLE. Elia was one of my girls and they couldn't have been sweeter. They were cleaning things I didn't even know needed to be cleaned. I had a new shower curtain liner laying on the counter and they even asked if I wanted them to put it on for me? I told them not to worry about dishes and when I got home everything was clean! When I walked in, they were trying to mop off the dirt on the walls where my dog lays. Above and beyond and whoever the owner is or schedules stuff...she is very kind and generous also. They were fast, efficient, very sweet and my apartment is cleaner now than when I moved in. I set up recurring service every two weeks! Pricing I actually thought was great also. These ladies are the best! The first time I tried their service was when I was moving out of an apartment, and I had a really testy/picky landlord. After their cleaning job, I got my full deposit back, and none of my neighbors could say the same! I tried them again when I needed a deep cleaning job before surgery. Now that I have cancer, I can't use a lot of cleaning chemicals myself. They did a great job, and I'm sure my place is surgery ready now! I'll definitely be hiring them more to maintain the clean now that I can't clean as much as I could before! read more

After reading the reviews on this place I had to try it myself. We have a three story home in the heights with all wood throughout and marble in the master bath. I came home after the cleaning was complete and wow! They did a wonderful job! It was a deep cleaning and you can tell that they cleaned every nook in the house, even the ceiling fans were cleaned. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! I HAD TO FILE A POLICE REPORT TODAY FOR $500 CASH THEFT. I do not make accusations especially regarding theft lightly. However, I think this review is necessary because having someone steal from you is such a violation and I would not want anyone else to endure this horrible experience. I called the police, got the owner Brenda involved but I never got my money back. I believe they stuck it in their shoes and or on their body. They knew that they could not be legally searched so they were both cool as a cucumbers. I mean if I was ever accused of stealing I wouldn't have a problem with a small pat down in the bathroom by a women or at the very minimum take off my shoes. I mean who wouldn't want to prove their innocence, right? Unfortunately, Brenda was so defensive and concerned about being right that her response to my request for a body search was "We don't do that." Some of you may ask, well how does she know it was them. Well, I will say this much: 1. I've been in this business for over 10 years and this has NEVER happened. 2. I just counted the cash the day prior and I recorded it in 2 separate places which I showed the police officer. 3. It was $500 even all in five dollar bills. I wrap my money so it wasn't scattered cash. It was wrapped nice and neat. 4. NO ONE ELSE has been in our home this entire week. My husband and I do not have children so that rules out family theft. 5. Roxanne entered my room although I asked her not to and was less than 1 ft away from the cash. I mean the room looked just like it did when I left. She hadn't started to strip the bed which is the first thing they do when they clean. I mean you have to see these ladies...THEY WORK FAST. Instead she was in my office by my cash fake dusting a window sill. I mean who starts dusting a window sill when you have to change linens on a king size bed? Not to mention a very large en suite bathroom to clean. But yeah, she thought "let me dust this window sill in her office near all this cash". I keep kicking myself for not putting away my cash. This is why I asked them not to enter my room. I work from home and own a cash business. I am ALWAYS home when they clean and I do not allow cleaners in my bedroom, where I have my home office, unless I am present. The cleaners arrived around 8:15 am and my husband gave them instructions to start on the 1st or 2nd floor since I was still getting dressed. Around 8:55 am I proceeded to the kitchen to make coffee but not without closing the door and asking them not to enter my bedroom. I needed time to secure my cash and personal belongings such as jewelry. I always secure these items prior to the cleaners arrival but I did not follow this procedure the night before because I hadn't received confirmation from Brenda that they were scheduled to clean. As I was preparing my morning coffee, I thought that I should make sure that they were not in my bedroom/home office cleaning. Thus, I went upstairs and noticed that my door was opened and Roxanne was dusting the window sill in my office! I was literally in the kitchen for all of 10 minutes but this was an opportunity that was seized. I immediately told Roxanne to leave. I was furious because she was right next to my cash which was on my desk and I had told her not to enter my room. I do believe this was premeditated and that she was looking for an opportunity to steal but I cannot prove this because you must catch a thief in the act. This cleaner has cleaned my home before so she knew the lay of the land. I will probably never hire another housekeeper EVER! I will spend the time to clean my own home because I do not want to worry about being ripped off. I strongly recommend that you stay away from this company. They started off great but ended poorly. I should have paid attention to the early warning signs when each time a different cleaner would show up at my door. You never get the same cleaners with the company, they either quit or were fired. The office person is very nice to work with and the rates are very reasonable. I requested a deep cleaning and a team of 2 trainees and one trainer or field monitor arrived a bit late but got immediately to work. The short version is that the monitor had to redo a great part of the work of the trainees, extending the appointment considerably. They were sweeping up the last of the dirt from the floor as they left (after having mopped and while the trainer remarked that there shouldn't be dirt at this stage). Everything did get clean, eventually, because the monitor redid the tasks needed (including cleaning the main bathroom again, which I did not investigate, but can only conclude needed some work). I see good reviews and I'm guessing that this was an atypical cleaning for this company. But it was pretty bad from our perspective. read more

I have used Uptown Maids since August upon relocation to Houston. Before this, in my former city, I had the same housekeeper for more than 4 years. She was reliant, honest, efficient and is someone that I have stayed in contact withe even after my move. She was always kind to me and I was always kind to her. I used Uptown Maids by recommendation of my apartment complex (I will not name the apartment complex because it is a lovely place). The service cleans a number of apartments in this building and works as such: call to schedule cleaning, the apartment building lets them in, and then a different crew, each time, cleans your apartment. If I had to estimate, I would say that I've used Uptown Maids at least 12 times. Of those two times, I have texted the owner/manager with issues twice. First, I came home and there were cleaning supplies left out in the middle of the floor; the counter tops had not been wiped; and the stove didn't appear so as well. Because every other time I had no issue and was pleased with it, I asked her if the crew was finished in the apartment (assuming that it was not) and when she said no, I told her why her asked. Second, I found an expensive porcelain container that I had on display underneath my TV was broken. The top was broken in two parts and had been pushed to the back corner of the TV stand shelf. I don't touch these items. It has had a few coins in it since I had it - I noticed this because of where it was placed (not displayed as it should be). It was obvious there are had been cleaned - for example, books on Shelf 1 were not lined up properly to display the binding. My point: Someone cleaned the shelf, broke it and pushed it in a corner. I texted the owner/manager the picture, since that is how we communicate. She called - which I first appreciated - and then I explained. Never ONCE did I ask her to refund me for the dish. Never ONCE did I threaten to withhold service. Never ONCE did I even threaten to write a review. I told her that I did not touch my shelves and my items had obviously been moved, and so there is only one conclusion. It was broken by cleaning. I have no dog; no children; and I do not touch items (as they are for display) on that shelf. Instead of listening and acknowledging my concern, she went into attack mode. She told me that she has a policy - if something is broken, it has to be communicated and it wasn't (implying her service didn't break it because they didn't report it). I explained the above again. She then proceeded to verbatim tell me that "YOU always complain." As stated, at least 12 times used them and only 2 times have I followed-up. 1 time I asked a legitimate question - the answer was that the service did in fact leave items on my floor & counter tops uncleaned in my apartment. Therfore, this was my second "complaint" as she called it; which is a legitimate one because something that I have paid a lot of my money for has been broken in my home. I told her that my only ask was that she reiterate to her crew that if they do break something, give the owner the courtesy of telling. The truth is that if someone had told me the item was broken, I would not even charge them for it. Big picture, its not going to break me and on whole, I have been pleased with their business so I am not the kind of person to take money out of someone's pocket cleaning my home over an accident. I only ask that they acknowledge the accident in the first place. Therefore the answer, "YOU ALWAYS COMPLAIN" is the reason for this 1-star review. Because its one-star thinking about valuing customers. It is as if saying that I am not allowed to have a concern or be upset. I am not allowed to expect the courtesy of expecting that someone who I bring into my home - often when I am not here - to be honest with me about what happens. She also began yelling to "not to talk to her that way." That was puzzling because I didn't understand what way she was referring to. Little does she know, I had guests at my home and that she was on speaker phone. They too were puzzled about "what way" that I was supposedly speaking. I never once said anything profane. She talked over me - I only asked several times, will you let me speak. I only wanted to communicate what I've written above. She was simply just rude with absolutely no self awareness of how lacking she is manners and professionalism with a customer. Bottom-line, the owner/manager was so concerned about being RIGHT, about HER company, that's she's not thinking of someone who is a customer. Giving feedback on visit 2/12 is ALWAYS COMPLAINING. Having something broken in my home and just asking that you remind staff to always come forward, is doing way too much. That is an unacceptable business mindset. It's appalling. This team is AMAZING!! We moved out of a 4 bedroom house with 3 dogs, and there was a lot to clean after 4 years there! The house was cleared out, and when they were done it looked better than when we moved in! I am truly blown away with their service, especially with how affordable it was! They went above and beyond, cleaning inside the fridge, ceiling vents, outside of the windows, the garage, doors, and all these other things that other cleaners didn't do. We went with a different maid service before Uptown to clean the house we were moving into, and they didn't do half of what Uptown did! We loved them so much that we are going to start a monthly cleaning, which they offered us a discount for the longer we do cleanings, the better prices they will give us! Excellent cleaning ability 5 stars! Friendly, professional, reliable cleaning staff. 5 stars Common sense 4 stars I have used this service on numerous occasions and would definitely recommend them! I am always pleased at how great I feel in my home after they have come! I give them 4 stars for common sense because of plastic containers placed in the dishwasher that have melted and I have had to throw out. Because we have hired them for moving(packing and unpacking) Things were not wrapped in the paper provided, glass piled on glass (found broken) and the boxes not even labelled "fragile/ glass inside" (anything) Plus if you do not speak Spanish it can make communication challenging (based on the 6 different ladies that we have worked with on different occasions) Small issues around booking times and the time they actually showed up....the communication was seemingly untruthful purposely to aid in their chance to keep the business. All that aside, I find if you can expect small issues and be mindful of things in your own home, (hmm I should tell them not to touch that, or make sure they know (and understand) what you need exactly, these ladies really do a great job cleaning!!! read more

I was very pleased with Uptown Maids service, first they were on time and easy to talk to. I contacted them and i sat a price over the phone, they came up the next day. They cleaned my 700 sq ft apartment for a fair price compared to other companies, which they'll ask to come first and see the place and they give a very high prices. On the other hand, Uptown Maids won't do that. They took about two hours, but left me with a huge smile on my face. I will call them again for sure. Best service. read more

I'm actually surprised to see the negative reviews on here. I think Uptown Maids do an amazing job! My apartment always smells and looks great when I get home. Any confusion that has happened was my apartment complexes fault - not Uptown Maids (they refused to let them in/give them keys even though I had written a letter of permission). I love the way the ladies clean my place. Nothing has ever been broken. Nothing has ever gone missing. Everything is always in order and perfectly clean. Sometimes they even do and fold my laundry!! Oh and I'm pretty sure they always play with my dog because she is always very excited on the days that they come! I really appreciate their services and I am very, very glad that I found them. BEWARE!!!! They will rob you then when the owner Brenda is approached she will immediately respond in a very unprofessional, hostile and defensive manner. Go as far as trying to place blame on apartment building employees. And in attempt to defend herself she will send a picture she took of your closet to so call justify as proof that items were stolen beforehand since they are "missing in the picture". First of all people know what they own so why are you taking a picture of their belongings, and secondly the picture holds zero merit since all you would have had to do was steal the belongings and then take the picture. I waited a while to write this review because I was so disturbed by the lack of professionalism and accountability. We used Uptown Maid Houston several times and were happy with the service. Our house requires two (2) cleaning professionals and takes 4-6 hours to clean. In December (prior to a big event we were having at our home) we setup service a week in advanced. Brenda (the owner I presume) contacted me via email to confirm the time of the appointment and I responded back via email. Fast forward to the day of service. We waited and waited and waited and no one showed up. This was unusual as the cleaning professionals were always timely. We called the office several times, but to no avail. We left messages and finally Brenda called me back. Per Brenda, she had no recollection of the service being scheduled. I told her to look at her email. I even forwarded her the email chain. With no apology, she said she would send a team. 45 minutes later a lovely woman knocked on our door. As previously mentioned, we always request and pay for the services of two (2) cleaning professionals. The single cleaning professional started cleaning. At this point, we were several hours behind schedule. We called Brenda and again expressed our displeasure. We conveyed that one (1) cleaning professional was inadequate. Brenda informed us that at some point another cleaning professional would arrive. We further emphasized that the tardiness was unprofessional and unacceptable. We then requested a ten percent (10%) discount to cover our inconvenience. 10% = $20. Brenda abruptly got off of the phone. She then instructed her single cleaning professional to leave immediately. I would caution anyone considering using Uptown Maid Houston. While the service is good, after the wheel you in, then the unprofessional and unreliable service begins. read more

We used Uptown Maids to clean our apartment. We had multiple things stolen from our apartment. When we confronted Brenda the owner, she was very unprofessional and actually quite disrespectful. I would be very cautious in using this company. It reiterates the importance of having your own insurance as the one one she had interestingly does not cover theft. read more

Brenda is the owner and she is an extremely unprofessional business owner. I was told verbally by her assistant when I hired this company that they will wash my sheets and bath towels in the master bedroom and bath which they did the first two times. The third time I notified them to wash the bedroom sheets again and once I said that they started texting me back telling me they do not wash sheets. I called her and spoke to Brenda to tell her that no one notified me that they will not be cleaning my sheets this time and if they do not than I won't have any sheets. She told me "this is not my fault ". But the interesting fact is that it is her fault because it is her company who made a verbal agreement with me when I hired them. I told her they have to clean my sheets this time because i was never notified of this change and I can not go home during the day to go clean sheets so my bed can be changed. She told me "I don't have to do anything you tell me to do. I'm the owner I do not listen to you." It was a very unprofessional and rude conversation and I was very disappointed by the whole conversation. If this is a company shouldn't they act a little more professional? So I cancelled their services and will never use this company again. Also the third time I needed the cleaning I texted them before they were supposed to arrive so I could go over a couple of items with them and they said I was not even on their schedule. She stated she got rid of her last assistant and so they dropped me off of their schedule. So I gave them another chance and she could schedule me in after a week. I again texted her an hour or so before they were supposed to arrive the following week and they told me they would need to reschedule with me because they did not have time to clean my place. So the following week she had to reschedule my appointment. I was very patient with all of this inconvenience I had to go through but I really needed my place cleaned by this time. They also did not do a great job with cleaning the prior two times. They left a lot of residue in the bathroom and left stains of food on the kitchen floor. They also left my balcony door wide open and luckily it's on the fourth floor and it was not raining because I did not notice it was 1/4 Th open until next day sadly! I guess I need another cleaning service. I should have canceled their services after the second time they cancelled on me. Never use this company!! read more

Scheduled Uptown Maids very last-minute since my regular cleaning lady was unavailable and my puppy had made a mess of my apartment. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was very easy to work with and made scheduling a breeze. That was just the beginning of good and efficient service. The two cleaning ladies I booked arrived right on time and did an unbelievable job. I work from home so was a bit concerned about having two new people in my apartment cleaning while I worked. However, it wasn't a problem at all. They were quiet, effective, efficient, polite, and well... excellent.
