If I could give this place negative one star I would! My elder aunt has been a loyal patient for over 11 years and she was recently treated like scum of the earth by their manager. She was bait and switched about the promise to not charge her a cancellation fee and then she was reminded of an old policy from 2011. Trouble is the document from 2011 mentioned 30 dollar fee when they have been trying to collect 50 For her cancellation. They are now calling it a copay when she doesn't even have any copay. This place is ran like a sweat shop at this point and they do not care about emergencies, if you can't show up you're forced to pay. My aunt is the caregiver to her sick husband who's on dialysis you would think that 911 would be sufficient it's not!! Here is how they had her pour her hard working heart out only to do nothing so stay away from this dentist trap !! "I have been a patient of yours longer than the current owners have been around and employees. I pay every cost that's quoted to me. My life changed in 2017 and I've been my husband caregiver since then, I am also the head of our household. I called to reschedule my appointment because he was not feeling well which I eventually took him to the emergency room. I asked for the $50.00 cancellation fee to be forgiven and was given the reason I I had one in 2020. I am very heartbroken and sad that your manager would not allow it. When she quoted what I owed without telling me the cost included the fee. I felt she was trying to slip it in . I didn't know until I asked to speak to the manager she ten acknowledge she was the manager. Why didn't she tell me upfront and discuss it with me instead of adding it in with the other charge? Unprofessional Front Desk Experience - Lack of Openness to Feedback I had called Uptown Premier Dental to schedule a new patient appointment. During the conversation, I mentioned a concern regarding the practice's response to a one-star review I had seen online. I found the response from the provider unprofessional, as it seemed to attack the patient rather than address the issue constructively. I offered a suggestion, stating that it would be more appropriate for them to edit the response to reflect professionalism, as this would deter fewer potential patients. Instead of appreciating the feedback, the front desk receptionist immediately suggested that I cancel my appointment if I didn't agree with their approach. I was taken aback by such a dismissive and unprofessional reaction. Needless to say, I canceled my appointment. A business unwilling to accept constructive criticism--especially from one provider to another--says a lot about their overall approach to patient care. The ability to grow and improve comes from learning to receive and apply feedback, something this practice clearly lacks. Given this experience and the number of negative reviews, I cannot recommend this dental office. I highly suggest reading *The New Gold Standard* by Joseph Michelli to better understand and implement customer service principles, which could benefit the team immensely. You can deny my experience however you want but the recorded call begs to differ. read more

The parking directions aren't practical. The office called to confirm but then when i call to get directions, I was immediately placed on hold. By the time she clicked back over, I was headed back to my car. Headed to a small, local dentist, as I type. I do believe that this was God interfering. I had extensive dental work done here, and so far I have not experienced additional problems. However, I routinely receive an estimate for the service, I pay it before leaving and then get another significant bill in the mail due to insurance not covering the estimated amount. I have found other dentists who charge 50% less for the same procedures. I suggest you shop around unless you have so much money that overpaying is not an issue for you. read more

My husband went to Dr. Vu about 5 years ago and she was out of her depth in providing treatment. The implants and dentures were ill fitting. Followed up with a periodontist and was told that the implants will need to be removed and we need to see a prosthodontist. While the office staff was nice, sub-par care should steer you away for anything above and beyond a cleaning. read more

I have been a patient at this location for over 30 years, though it has changed ownership and dentists during that length of time, I have kept going back because of the quality of the dental care I enjoy. I started when Bill Campoli was there, then Gordon Roznik and now Athen Vu and her newer colleague, Lindsey Atiyeh. So I KNOW them. This practice has a long tradition of great dentistry. Dr. Vu has earned my respect and trust during my time seeing her. Her colleague, Dr. Atiyeh, though newer to me, has also dazzled me with her bedside manner and skill. Dr. Vu is kind, witty, endearing and has the dental practice skills to back all of that, and then some. She laughs easily. I would rather be at the hands of a happy dentist than a disgruntled one. Her staff enjoy working for her, many of them driving great distances just to be able to work there. I KNOW this to be true, so, this story of cheating her employees out of money seems not to hold water. Never, ever, not once, has my insurance been mis-filed nor a billing question gone un-answered. I have never left there in pain, nor with un-answered questions about my care. If I did, I would call and ask for a follow up visit, not wonder about it. I found the whole office extremely professional while also empathic to my issues. The dentists are excellent. Superb bedside manner. THIS IS NOT A GOOD DENTIST OFFICE!! I went into this this dentist office this past May 2021 for tooth extractions. Before going under sedation, the "dentist" never once spoke to me to introduce herself or explain the details of her procedure to me. At the end of my extractions, I still never saw the dentist, I never received a follow up concerning the healing of my gums. And to top things off: I was left with fragments of teeth in my gums, after the extractions. I'm still having problems with my gums healing, and will not have to visit a real dentist for assistance. The overall experience in visiting this dentist office was uncomfortable and a bit strange. I initially thought it was my dentist phobia, but now that I have had a chance to reflect, I certainly think something is not right with this place, and the mystery dentist that runs it. I had just moved to Charlotte. I made my initial appointment and assumed that I would get x-rays and my cleaning and then if there were anything else they would make another appointment. Nope, the first appointment was just for x-rays and to tell me I needed six cavities filled. I made another appointment for the cleaning and cavities, but after a terrible cleaning, where I felt they cared more about doing it quickly than anything else, I refused to have the cavities filled and demanded a refund. I'd never had issues with a dentist before and when they came out to try and talk me into getting the cavities filled they tried gaslighting me into believing that I just hadn't had a cleaning done with some machine because I was from a small town and not the city so I wouldn't understand why it was done quickly. They tried to brush off all my concerns. I went home for vacation and decided to see my home dentist while I was there to have him take care of the cavities and he told me that I maybe had one soft spot but no cavities that had to be filled. After my appointment yesterday (06/19) I can cross the first one off the list. This office is located in the Duke Energy Building (400 S. Tryon). Bottom floor. Nice receptionist, They do anesthesia (3 types). I selected the 2nd option which was "the pills". I had 2 extractions for wisdom teeth. The whole process took less than 30mins. She talked me into paying for a years worth of service and I called a week prior for a scheduled cleaning to cancel an appointment I couldn't make and spoke with an assistant who has since left the business. She then billed me $50 for missing my appointment and when I called to dispute this, another assistant said that a manager would call me back. That never happened and I am still getting bills from her and a collection agency for an appointment I cancelled with plenty of notice. THIS IS AN UNPAID REVIEW BY A REAL CUSTOMER As a customer, I value good service and Trust is EVERYTHING from beginning to end. There were a couple of things that will forever resonate with me after my recent/last visit. There were inconsideration and force used/applied during crown replacement. My nerve WAS EXPOSED causing severe pain to the point I was crying hysterically, and THE DENTIST STILL CONTINUED WITH FORCE THE TOOTH on regardless of severe pain due to nerve exposure. NO NUMBING MEDICATION WAS GIVEN after repeated concerns about pain and discomfort. I WAS COMPLETELY TRAUMATIZED with this thoughtless process. It felt like someone was ripping my tooth out WITH NO PAIN/NUMBING MEDICATION. THE DENTIST downplayed pain to minor ache and discomfort/FAILED TO DESCRIBE the extent of the pain that was coming before proceeding. My root was exposed causing severe pain I was crying hysterically, and the dentist still continued with force regardless of the severe pain due to nerve exposure. This was completely insensitive and thoughtless of the patient. I was traumatized and in dismay at the thoughtless process. I already know that there is most likely going to be a counterstatement justifying the action taken on service rendered, but this is what I went through, so I can speak on it. As a former military service member with different degrees including business, THIS IS NOT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF SERVICE. I have been to many dental offices; this is by far the worst I've experienced thus far. Do not come here if you don't have a HIGH-PAIN AND NOISE TOLERANCE (earplugs are vital to one's hearing safety- headphones given do not eliminate high pitched sounds at dangerous noise levels) for crown replacement procedures. I am still EXPERIENCING pain regarding this tooth. I went through all that pain for nothing, because now, I have to go and find another dentist that has more experience and training to access the nerve damage and properly redo the tooth procedure. read more

I scheduled a cleaning - which they tried to move on the day of - as a new patient. Since they only scheduled an "hour," the cleaning also wasn't able to be completed after X-Rays and pictures. I was then told that I need 3 fillings and a crown. I am a non-smoking, 38 year old woman who takes care of my teeth. The fillings and "crown" she pointed out and recommended, my very capable dentist has been monitoring for 3 years and she doesn't want to do "unnecessary dental work." Icing on the cake was on my way out. I asked to buy a whitening tray. They tried to sell me crest white strips for $150. What. A. Joke. I will not be coming back to this establishment and I would highly recommend seeking a 2nd opinion if they recommend work. ***Update: I saw another highly recommended and well vetted dentist. They confirmed my bad feeling about this situation and said they were trying to do unnecessary work. None of the work they recommended was needed - and their recommendation for a "deep cleaning" was invalid. My gums aren't even candidates for a deep cleaning and they couldn't even see how this location could legally bill my insurance company for such a procedure based on the state of my teeth. I lowered my review to one star and I would give zero if I could. I may also try to find out if I can have them formally investigated as a result of my experience. Be careful! Dr. Vu is a breath of fresh air in the oral hygiene playing field in that she's personable, full of energy and a delight. Dr. Vu maintains a positive manner that serves to alleviate one's dental phobia. Her kindness is a distraction to the agony of dental work. And she has an amazing sense of humor! Dr. Vu's staff is of equal quality caliber, and nary an individual would have anything negative to say about the Good Doc and her team. I had some cleaning and fillings done and the dental work was satisfactory; However, the billing staff is terrible. They quoted me at $300 for the procedure and 2 months later I got a bill for $1,100 (for a cleaning and two fillings!!). I called them as soon as I got the bill and they said that they calculated my insurance incorrectly and still needed me to pay my $1,100 bill. The staff was rude throughout the process, but ended up knocking off $300 from the bill. A month later, I called to make a $50 payment towards my bill since I couldn't afford to pay the full amount at the time. They told me that was an insufficient payment amount and that I needed to increase my payments. Very rude considering it was their mistake in the first place that I acquired such a ridiculous bill. My experience here was Great the first three years when Dr. Roznik was there but after he left, my treatment plans were no longer about me and my dental health but about how much of my dental benefits they could use before the end of the year.Since Dr Roznik left, There has been extremely high office turnover which is a true indication that there is a problem within the practice! I recently decided to go to another practice that I feel would put my dental health as a priority and not "what my dental benefits will pay" and how "they" can benefit instead of me. Dr. Vu is not concerned about her patients but only the money she will get from performing unnecessary procedures that will benefit her pockets!
