I've been coming here for years to bring my cats in. Sadly I feel things have gotten worse over the years. From not telling me that bloodwork that was not mandatory would be $600+ dollars...I was told AFTER it was done and the person who told me felt really bad, to paying $95 in advance to have an appointment scheduled and then them taking a walk in before me. And now my cats bloodwork was available for me last week and they haven't called me. Even the person on the phone thought that was really weird. I have had good experiences here too. Especially during the end of life phase for my last cat. So I know they are capable of more. The atmosphere is always clean, and it's usually pretty easy to get in. I guess if you have a healthy pet this can be a good place to take them.

Original email from November 1st from Urban Animal saying nothing was wrong with my cat who had internal bleeding and was dying.

Urban animal hid my review on google. They have never reached out to me or taken any accountability for their negligence. I have now spoken with several people who have had horrible experiences with this vet - even just last week.

These people LIED about me on my Google Review of them where I spoke the truth they lied and said I made a scene or was rude or nasty in their office which is a complete lie. After I left their office and paid my bill I got home and started thinking of all the ways they try to run my bill up with ridiculous over the top fear mongering- instead of trying a simple approach with dogs be prepared to have a pricey visit there. I won't stop posting about the way their manager LIED and tried to cover up their lies by making a salacious and slanderous reply to my review. BEWARE of THESE PEOPLE. I used to go there with my first two dogs but no more- they have too many locations in fancy schmancy high rises $$$ and they even asked me before I paid my insane bill if I would agree to pay 15% MORE to help others These people are a revolving door of clueless veterinarians just running up tests and bills. MY OPINION. I will only remove my review IF they remove their LIES and SLANDER. Nasty people- wouldn't help my five pound dog because they are PETTY SEE OTHE REPLIES AND READ THE ONE I SHARE BELOW- THEY KEEP MAKING EXCUSES IN THEIR REPLIES ANE LIES.

i have been coming here for a few years now and they always go above and beyond in terms of care and affordable (for in the city of course) treatments. i have sadly had to put two of my pets down here (old age and medical issues) and they always showed incredible grace and tenderness in those moments that i will never forget. yesterday i took my dog in for his first ever dental appointment and i was really nervous about it but they made me feel so much better about having him go under anesthetic. its the day after now and my little dog is feeling so much better without those nasty teeth and the healing process has been smooth so far ! i truly appreciate and love this vet , the fact that they do emergency walk in's is a huge bonus !

Title: Devastating Loss - Urban Animal Must Be Investigated

Urban Animal Gave a Lethal Vaccine to My Healthy Dog - Justice for Gujy I'm one of the owners of Gujy, a young, healthy dog whose life was taken after a visit to Urban Animal. On May 9, 2025, Gujy was brought to the Capitol Hill clinic for a vaccination. He was completely healthy at the time. After that visit, he became sick, and within a few days--on May 14--he died. This was a preventable tragedy. Gujy was up to date on his vaccinations, and we believe the vaccine they gave him was not only unnecessary but deadly. When I called Urban Animal to request his medical records, I was met with resistance and delays. Despite being listed in their system, they initially refused to give me any information. Eventually, they claimed Gujy had only been seen on May 9 and denied any follow-up visit. It felt like they were trying to cover their tracks instead of being transparent and accountable. Gujy was born on January 23, 2024. He was happy, healthy, and full of life. His death should never have happened. Urban Animal's carelessness and refusal to take responsibility must not be ignored. I'm asking for an investigation into the vaccine they gave him and how they handled everything that followed. No more innocent animals should suffer the same fate. Justice for Gujy.

I came home to find my new puppy with a bag of grapes. I checked with Animal Poison Control, but they wanted $80 just to tell me that grapes are poisonous. I called Banfield which is a half block away where I had taken my puppy before. They told me to call Urban Animal. I called and they said I might need to pay $300 dollars. We went there and they saw her immediately. They gave her anb injection to make her vomit and said they didn't see any grape residue so they did not recommend any blood tests. It cost $95, less than a third of what they told me.

I have been bringing my senior dog here since I moved to Seattle two years ago. Because of my dog's age I have been there over 20 times in that short time span, so I have a fair amount of experience with the practice. My dog, and I, have always been treated conscientiously and well. A few weeks ago he had to be put to sleep (he was 14.5) and the staff was compassionate, both to him and with me. As to the complaints about having to wait, it is a rare and so busy walk-in practice. In other words, first come first served. I always arrived about 1/2 hour before they opened and my wait times were then often either non-existent or very short. Try and get an appointment at any vet service in Seattle and it you will find it to be at least a few days if not a week or more.

I started visiting this vet because they offered folks who work at Amazon a discount. Do not fall for that trap. I had a dog who had seizures. I needed to pick up levitiracetum and apoquel for her regularly. (1) this vet has an online clinic they probably have a deal with, for many drugs it's excruciatingly overpriced. Meaning I pay 1/5th of the price of the seizure medication at my local pharmacy. When I told this vet to call in my dogs rx they said by law they could not. This is false. You as a client are allowed to pick up your rx anywhere you want to. I actually reported this and a few weeks later I was called back by LUV indicating they could all of sudden call in my dogs rx. While I lost trust in them, I appreciated that they pivoted and admitted it. But the pain continues. My dog needs her bordatella updated. She had surgery about 6 months ago from the same vet, And her wellness is only a week past one year , we visit the vet regularly. The annual wellness law is to ensure the vet has seen the dog in the last year to ensure they are prescribing medications on an animal they've seen.....LUV examined my dog pre-surgery but they say none of the visits count to establish vet-client relationship and won't do the bordatella without an annual wellness exam. We were there 6 months ago for her pre surgery work. We are there regularly. Last year when I updated my dogs vaccinations I paid more than $700 they added on a bunch of stuff we didn't need. I'm an established patient, they know me and my partner (and my cat!). Unfortunately, asking for an update on labwork yesterday culminated in an absolutely bizarre phone conversation with one of the receptionists that ended with "Look, we have lots of other patients. We can transfer your records to another vet if you're unhappy." And then hung up. That is, without a doubt, an insane thing to be ok saying to a client. I just wanted to know whether I needed to postpone my upcoming appt to wait for the labs! I no longer feel like there will be a good standard of care so I'm taking them up on the "find a new vet" threat. My 17 year-old cat gets to re-establish care elsewhere. This absolute catastrophe could've been avoided with the sentences: "Sorry about that, you should've heard back today but we are now expecting it early tomorrow. I wouldn't reschedule your appointment." Instead I got "I don't know what's happening with your pet. Do you want to reschedule the appointment or not?" Maybe things will work out for you here, for me they did for a while, but also maybe they'll rudely show you the door when you ask for an update on your pet. We kept an eye on them for a a few days hoping that after some water and a little time to rest, the bird would find it's way to the sky again, but unfortunately, this was not the case. After reaching out the Bird Clinic of Seattle, it was discovered that this specific type of bird couldn't be treated by them and they suggested reaching out to a local vet for euthanization. Easy, right? This is Seattle - there's TONS of veterinaries here... After calling no less than half a dozen vets within a 10 mile radius of our home who refused to help (including the vet we USED to take our cats to who continually fat shamed them), we called Atlantic who graciously said they could assist AND offered same day service. We put the bird in a shoebox and brought it over. I asked the front desk person what form of payment they preferred and the response was, "Nah. There's no need to pay us for this kind of service. Thank you for doing the right thing and bringing this poor bird in." Fast forward, my big guy cat woke me up a few months ago growling very early in the morning. It was obvious he was in a lot of pain, but our regular vet clinic didn't open until 9am vs. Atlantic who's phone lines open at 7am. I called them and immediately got an appointment for him to be seen later that afternoon. Frankly, the quality of care and genuine kindness that Dr. Monahan and her staff continually show us is incomparable to that of our last vet. I have bumped into vet techs at Atlantic whom I've never met, but express so much joy when my big guy cat shows up for follow ups. Everyone from the doctors to nurses to the front desk folks are always thorough and wonderful and we've never had an issue getting an appointment on the same day. We decided to move our cats here for primary care permanently. If you're looking for a vet that's happy to answer questions, not fat shame your pets, come up with health solutions and are generally an outstanding group of people who deeply care for animals and love what they do, this is the place.

I have 2 dogs that are recurring patients at this clinic and regularly receive check-ups and vaccines as needed. However, at our last visit, we were told that the leptospirosis booster and associated nurse visit would cost us an additional $100 on top of the $155 that we had already paid for the initial appointment and first dose of the vaccine. We were never told that the booster would be charged separately along with the nurse visit. Why would the full cost of the vaccine and booster not be disclosed to us at the initial visit? Why would we be charged again for a booster that is required for the vaccine, which we already paid for, to actually work? Sadly, I think this institution has lost sight of their original purpose which was to serve the community and operate as a family-owned business rather than a greedy corporation. I'm not sure what has changed so drastically here in the past few years to cause such a noticeable decline but this is not the same clinic as it once was. After nearly a decade of partnership, I will not be bringing my dogs back here. For any current patients of this clinic, I would strongly advise that you ensure how much you're being billed BEFORE each visit so you are not overcharged for standard services. It is truly sad to see another vet clinic go down the same capitalistic path as so many others.
