I've been a client of this vet clinic for almost 10 years, I've had three dogs that were seen regularly here. I started visiting this vet because they offered folks who work at Amazon a discount. Do not fall for that trap. I had a dog who had seizures. I needed to pick up levitiracetum and apoquel for her regularly. (1) this vet has an online clinic they probably have a deal with, for many drugs it's excruciatingly overpriced. Meaning I pay 1/5th of the price of the seizure medication at my local pharmacy. When I told this vet to call in my dogs rx they said by law they could not. This is false. You as a client are allowed to pick up your rx anywhere you want to. I actually reported this and a few weeks later I was called back by LUV indicating they could all of sudden call in my dogs rx. While I lost trust in them, I appreciated that they pivoted and admitted it. But the pain continues. My dog needs her bordatella updated. She had surgery about 6 months ago from the same vet, And her wellness is only a week past one year , we visit the vet regularly. The annual wellness law is to ensure the vet has seen the dog in the last year to ensure they are prescribing medications on an animal they've seen.....LUV examined my dog pre-surgery but they say none of the visits count to establish vet-client relationship and won't do the bordatella without an annual wellness exam. We were there 6 months ago for her pre surgery work. We are there regularly. Last year when I updated my dogs vaccinations I paid more than $700 they added on a bunch of stuff we didn't need. They code things their way and read the law their way to add as many things to your tab as possible. read more

Better documentation, name tags, clarity. They wrote identical clothing and with no name tags it was never clear whether I was talking to the Vet or a tech. In my opinion the appointment was rushed. I asked for documentation directions for application, how long to administer, etc) and ended up with 5 or 6 pieces of paper with conflicting instructions. No timeline, They also sent me home with two medications for my pet's ear, one of which was expired. Those two medication's pricing was also double $$ what Amazon would deliver. read more

We've been taking our senior dog to Lake Union Vet Clinic for a few years now, and have received a range of treatments from Dr. Waterhouse. Overall, we've been happy with the quality of the vet care delivered by Lake Union Vet Clinic. HOWEVER, maybe they've been acquired by private equity, but we've noticed disturbing trends on the financial side of the clinic. They're charging certain prescription meds that our dog needs for her heart condition at more than DOUBLE the market price available online. The final straw was cancelling our dog's echocardiogram appointment more than two weeks away because the deposit wasn't paid within 13 hours after they emailed an INVALID payment link on a weekend. It seems like they care about business metrics like A/R age or collection rates than actually delivering vet care for the Seattle community. We've begun going to Urban Animal, and we plan to shift more of our dog's care to Urban Animal, which unlike Lake Union Vet Clinic, is a veterinary worker cooperative. Many of my neighbors in my building have pets, so I'll be warning them about Lake Union Vet Clinic in our group chat as well. Very disappointing. read more

For appointment for vaccine for dog you need to pay standard fee as office visit. for new clients $97 and for existing $38. This time they charged me $90 dollars in invoice line as office visit. It turns out they include wellness exam and called it as Office Visit. Imposing and providing services that I did not request, but and this is fine. The MAIN thing they also REFUSED to change the invoice and make the correct service Description - add line as wellness exam for my insurance company referring to their policy but when I asked to show this policy they were confused. read more

TLDR - I'd avoid this office and the vets at all cost. Their service has gone down hill since Dr Carson left and they only care about more tests, more visits, more money, and fail to have any care about the well-being of your pet. We've been waiting almost a month for definitive x-ray and cancer screening results for our dog we took in due to weight loss, lethargy, loss of appetite, and masses. This office is so disorganized we first heard since Waterhouse was on vacation no one else could access the results. Then when we did get a call it was to report it confirmed there were masses (different number depending on who we talked to, btw), but without being able to view the results of the cancer screening, they recommended we come back for an ultrasound. Through all this, and a couple thousand dollars later, we can't get an email, a call back, anything. The person at the front desk literally recommended we keep "poking" them. What a joke of a business, much less a veterinarian. Lacking all compassion, common sense, or decency. For some context, we've taken every pet we've owned for the last 10 years to this office. Despite having always been grossly overpriced, we really felt the care we received was excellent and compassionate. Those days are gone. read more

SLU TECH EMPLOYEES BE AWARE AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR DIME AT THIS PLACE. They know you have the money and that you like convenience. But please, go to a vet that really cares for the animal than their $. At least I will. I have a 9mo Bichon that has been going here since as a pup (8weeks). There have been few instances that made me doubt if this place is really 'good' but I kept going because I live right by and location was convenient. Then It was about time to get him neutered.. and this happened. First, they emailed me the consent form at 4pm Thursday afternoon. Surgery was planned for next day with drop off time at 8:20AM. If I didn't see it in time, I could've been tricked into a ridiculous procedure. Now, along with the consent form came the cost estimate. It said total was $973.13. First of all I'm wondering, wow! this is more expensive than I thought! (I was expecting to pay 5~600). Then I looked at the things they were planning to do. X ray? Extraction deciduous? I called them immediately because they were closing soon and I wanted to understand why my dog needed this. The technician kindly explained that Extraction deciduous is common for puppies. But In my case where I got his teeth checked out recently and the doctor confirmed his adult teeth are looking good, they should've known it wasn't needed. The X-ray was added based on a note from one of my old visits saying my dog was sitting funny (which got fixed as he grew older. Puppy sit). Why couldn't they have told me about all this beforehand? Were they just hoping I didnt notice and pay? What kind of system is this? I asked my other dog parent friends for advice and they suggested I immediately cancel the appt. A friends dog, female & medium breed got spayed for $200 with additional procedures (Lake union vet would've charged hundreds for) and with free nail trimming too Lake Union Vet charges $25 dollars for nail trimming. I thought Downtown Dog Lounge was expensive.. (they charge $15) Here are other instances: My dog also had coprophagia as a young puppy and the vet suggested I purchase this powder medicine to mix with his food that would stop him from eating poo. It turns out, the medicine didn't do anything and he was just hungry for more food. After I gave him more kibbles he stopped eating poo. The vet, not once asked me how much I was feeding my dog and suggested to buy medicine first. Another time, the technician recommended I buy an ear cleaning solution for my dog. It was a very big bottle. I came home later that day to find out it was going to expire at the end of the year (this was during the mid year). Obviously, for a small breed I didn't need such a big bottle. Obviously they were just trying to sell me more stuff, again. Last but not least.. My dog had heart murmur as a puppy for long time (usually its gone by 6mo of age). It was still there at 8mo of age, so I had an echo cardiogram scheduled per doctors rec (cost about $500, and thankfully dogs can stay awake with no pain). At my second last visit with a doctor (this is before COVID outbreak), It was a walk in, and they took him to the back so I didn't get to interact with the doctor at all. Turns out they didnt hear heart murmur and didnt tell me about it. So there I was, waiting for the day of echo exam and hoping my dog will be ok. Then the echo had to be rescheduled because specialist couldn't make it. As Im on the call with the technicial to reschedule, she tells me, hey, did you know your dog didnt have murmur at the last visit? I was mind-blown. Excited. And upset. Why I didnt know about it?! We scheduled another regular visit to check the murmur. It was gone. So we decided not to do an echo. (shoutout to that technician for transparency) I'm just so shocked that this 'vet' exists shamelessly 'taking care' of our furry friends but in reality just tries to take our money. Dear SLU neighbors and friends, there are much better ways to help people with your money. Go to a vet that really cares about your dogs and rather donate the spare money elsewhere. read more

Dr. Bridge had the hard task of helping us in with end of life care for two senior dogs (2015, and 2019) and along with the staff made 2 of the hardest days of our life as soft and cared for as possible. Both Dr. Bridge and Dr. Carson have been communicative and caring and we will continue to recommend LUVC for all animal parents! :) our current pack LOVES going into the vet and that says something more than I can! read more

I brought my 2 cats to LUV Seattle the same day I called for an urgent appointment as a new customer. Sara helped me get an appointment and then carry my animals in from the car which I needed very much. I was touched, impressed, and very happy with the care that Dr Fuller and Assistant Benjamin provided. They were caring, took time to show my cats warmth and affection while providing the care. Also the bonus was getting care for one cat's behavioral issues which I didn't expect and am grateful for the help. The office visit was reasonable and there was no upselling extra labs or things (I brought labs from the prior vet) or pressure for extras at all. A full exam and clinical assessment which I truly look for in a vet. Then icing on the cake, their 2 vet techs came IN to the exam room to do the nail trims - vs other vets take the cats into the back where you have no idea how they are being handled. Amazing experience with Lake Union Vet. We brought our 4 month old kitten in, waited about 5-10 minutes in the lobby and finished the entire appointment in about 30-40 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place for other pet owners! Dr. Waterhouse was thorough with his explanations. He is also very kind, thoughtful, and professional when performing the examination, often playing with our kitten making sure he was not scared. Anna, who was out vet tech, was extremely nice and welcoming, and she honestly made the experience very comfortable. She also answered many questions we had regarding our kitten. Dr. Ng is absolutely wonderful! I have been to a few veterinarians back in the midwest for my cat Penny, so when I moved here I wasn't sure what to expect. Dr. Ng has always been very caring and sweet with my very nervous girl (she eliminates in her carrier every time she's put in it), and you can just tell she is a cat person. She had a trick up her sleeve for Penny when she needed a urinalysis after having had crystals. Since Penny always eliminates in her carrier and pees on the table any time a needle gets near her bladder, Dr. Ng thought quick and held a pan under her when she started urinating so they could use it to test. It honestly surprised me no one (including me) had thought to do this before, as I always made it very apparent that she has a nervous bladder. Dr. Ng also offered to bring in samples of her own foods for Penny to try since she is SO nervous and gets even more stressed if pilled or given liquid meds. I actually ended up forgetting to pick these up because I'm the worst, but the fact that she went out of her way to do that was so sweet and shows she truly cares. Since then, Dr. Ng as well as all the other staff here have been nothing short of kind, compassionate, friendly, and hospitable. I continually refer people here because I love the care so much. Also, I like the fact that they have a mobile app and a loyalty program where you can earn points (or "paws" as they're called) for each $100 you spend in one appointment. I am going to have to pay the bill regardless, so it's nice to get a little return from it! Added bonus, though my pets have no need for it, I think it's so awesome they have hydrotherapy available! Really poor experience. I switched here during the pandemic when I moved based on a recommendation from a friend who lives near here. Since I switched, I've had appointments with many vets here, but haven't met them, so it's honestly hard to tell them apart. There is one vet, Dr Chan, who was the most impatient and condescending and I would not make an appointment with her. The front desk staff especially treat you really poorly. To this day, their offices are not open and you have to call to check-in to your appointment. Sometimes the line is busy and you have to wait for some time. Once you do get through, they are rude. They talk to you like you don't know what you're doing or you're already doing something wrong. They have made mistakes with notes, with sending documents, and with messing up appointment times (and then blaming me). I've reached out and talked to the clinic manager before and she is exactly the same, which makes sense why their staff is this way. Please do not come here if you can. read more

The team at LUVC took excellent care of our senior chihuahua Sofie for the past 6 years, and we are especially grateful for Dr. Bridge's compassionate care and guidance throughout that time. Sofie was a special dog with a slew of health issues, including Cushing's disease, hypothyroidism, and a bout with cancer (which she beat!) to name a few. Each time, Dr. Bridge talked my husband and me through our options with empathy and clarity. And as Sofie's condition deteriorated in old age, we found solace in the fact that Dr. Bridge was there to help guide us through the painful process of weighing her end of life care options. Dealing with a total lack of empathy, urgency, basic customer service, and inability to provide meaningful care was worse than finding out my dog has cancer. My troubling experience follows, but overall: 1. The amount of gatekeeping is maddening. Since owners are no longer allowed inside, being able to actually speak to the vets you're depending on for your pet's care is impossible. I was only able to discuss my dog's potentially life-threatening/time-sensitive condition via email. 2. There is absolutely no urgency or follow through. It felt like I had to beg to be given timely answers and follow ups, eventually deciding that it was best if I looked for a specialist to help my dog on my own. No referrals or proactive help was offered. No phone calls to offer guidance were ever made. 3. There is no regard towards how COVID-19/reduced capacity has overwhelmed other providers and how difficult getting emergency/specialty care outside of LUVC is. Specialists require referrals and booking happens months in advance, which is why being proactive as a primary provider matters, especially for patients with degenerative/life-threatening conditions. 4. If your pet is older, their symptoms are quickly dismissed as being aging-related. I had been taking my now 9 year-old Australian Shepherd to LUVC since I rescued him back in 2018. In July 2021, he started having accidents indoors. I immediately took him to his usual vet at LUVC, who couldn't find anything out of the ordinary from blood + urine analysis. Three months later, my dog has 0 bladder control, to the point of needing diapers. He begins having whole-body tremors. I call LUVC and ask for the earliest appointment, which means seeing a different vet - Dr Waterhouse - owner of the place. Dr W sees my dog and calls me to tell me that looking at the blood/urine analysis from THREE MONTHS PRIOR, he is fine. His tremors? Might be worthwhile seeing a neurologist, but my dog is probably just old and arthritic. I am not recommended a neurologist, at which point I ask for another urine test at least since I have no answers, and no new information. I get a call shortly after: I am told that a vet tech found a mass on his neck while putting his harness on. My heart sinks, but not before wondering - why did a vet tech find it and not Dr W? Did he touch my dog or just look at old records? I am vocal about wanting to understand what the mass on his neck is and how it could tie to his symptoms. I am told to bring him the next day for the lump to be aspirated. Interesting to note: the staff who helps me check out apologizes about how the appointment took longer as Dr W wasn't sure the sample he took was sufficient for testing, but not to worry as he then decided it was "probably fine". Four days later and without any updates, I call. The $300 aspiration was inconclusive. I also find out Dr W actually only ran a new urine test, no new bloodwork, and no new tests for his thyroid, which is right where the mass is located. I have to explicitly ask about getting his thyroid tested as all Dr W can tell me my dog might have Addison's disease (a rare condition), without acknowledging the mass and how it might be implicated. Googling "thyroid tumors in dogs" tells me more about how all his symptoms fit the diagnosis. At this point, it's clear to me Dr W is in no hurry to help me understand if my dog has cancer. What he can tell me is that the new blood work I requested uncovered that my dog has low blood sugar and Cortisol levels. I had to write yet another email to ask what I should do to keep him from collapsing given the findings. All I'm told is to put honey on his gums to revive him. Great! I take matters in my own hands and look for an oncologist. They let me know that their findings will need to be shared with Dr W first as he is my dog's "referring" (ha!) vet - but that I will be able to get a copy from LUVC. Four days later, I call the oncologist as I heard nothing from LUVC. They confirm the findings had been shared. Again I'm appalled by the total lack of regard towards keeping me updated. By now, it's been 2 weeks and $4k spent on diagnostics without answers. I call LUVC twice to ask for the records, which I am told will be forwarded right away. The third time, 5 minutes before closing, I'm told I actually won't be getting the records until Dr W is back in the office two days later, so that he can relay them. I explain I am not interested in waiting nor in Dr W interpreting as I am perfectly able to read the specialist's notes. They refuse to send the records no matter how much I beg or explain I just want to know if my dog has cancer so I can help him. Luckily, the next day I woke up to the records in my inbox (no apology of course). Note: withholding records is actually illegal in WA. Neither the staff nor Dr W ever called to apologize, discuss the matter, or let alone check on my dog. I was only able to speak to Dr W during the first visit. read more

Over our five years of bringing our basset hound to LUVC, we have always been impressed by the level of care that he receives. Not only is the facility clean, but all of the employees/techs/vets are wonderfully kind and professional. Today, Dr. Bridge was able to squeeze our pup Herbert in for an emergency appointment so that we could catch our morning flight. If Dr. Bridge had not seen Herbert, we would not have been able to attend our family member's wedding!! He totally saved the day! We appreciate all of the TLC at LUVC. read more

My family followed Dr. Waterhouse from when he was at West Seattle VCA to South Lake Union 15+ years ago and still make the commute for vet care. This clinic has been the vet for five dogs and one cat in that time period and I am so thankful for them. The staff are always friendly, helpful and I feel actually care about what I am feeling when my pet is not healthy. They are always willing to work with me when I need to get in on short notice. The one time I went somewhere else for convivence they tried to amputate my dog's toe saying she had cancer but Waterhouse (as a second opinion) said it was just an infection, gave her some antibiotics and it was cleared up in a couple of days and she got to keep her toe. I read some of these other reviews and I don't understand their experience because I have never felt they were unnecessarily taking my money. Yes, they are a little pricey but its downtown Seattle. They have also become so busy during the pandemic that they are not as easy to get in with appointments. read more

Poor care, bad service. South Lake Union Vet failed to diagnose that my dog had luxated lens in her eye when we brought her in to have her discomfort in that eye checked out. As a result, she lost that eye. They also extracted teeth unnecessarily, as other reviewers have noted. Do yourself and your pet a favor and find a different vet. read more

I am really happy we came back to this vet after taking a break. We previously stopped coming after seeing (I think) Dr. Waterhouse, because he didn't fit with our personal needs. But since coming back the vets we have seen have been fantastic. I believe we've seen Dr. Carson and Dr. Chan. I'm an individual that always has a million questions to feel comfortable. Especially when it comes to my furry child, the absolute love of my life. LUVC has been accommodating! And I feel like she gets much more holistic care here than our previous vet, and that they will actually follow up and monitor her health progressively to help her live her best life. I do think they are struggling a little, like many businesses, to adjust to the madness of running a business in the pandemic, but I don't hold that against them at all. read more

I had the worst experience at Lake Union. I was a little late to an appointment because a lane in the tunnel was done and there was insane traffic and construction around the clinic. I drove over an hour to get there when my GPS said it would only take 28 minutes. When I got there they said that they could give my dog his annual shots but the vet couldn't see him because I was late. This seems very unreasonable for several reasons: 1) it is unresponsible pet ownership and vet policy to not have a vet look over an animal annually. There could be things that I don't see that a vet could see and dogs need to be checked over. it is lazy and irresponsible to propose the solution to just give him his shots without an exam. Also the dog had recently been hospitalized, which I explained, so I wanted to talk about his recovery with a vet 2) there was no one waiting for an appointment so really the people working Just didn't want to get a little behind schedule and have to work a little harder. That was the real reason for turning me away. They were thinking about themselves and their needs and not the health and needs of my pet. People like that shouldnt work for vet offices and should find a different career. The pet needs should come before your needs of not having to work an extra 15 minutes 3) they are located in a busy area without a parking lot so they should expect and find accommodations for late customers. It was humiliating that they thought they were in the right that I shoudnt have access to a vet for an annual checkup and it would be fine for my dog to go 2 years without seeing a vet while paying the same amount of money. It is so irresponsible and makes me question how they think the right way to take care of animals are. If their solution to being 10 minute late is to have your vet not perform the annual checkup like it's not needed and I'm crazy for insisting on annual checkup that makes me a responsible owner. what a terrible policy and what type of people would think that is the reasonable and responsible thing to do. A little late to review but better late than never! I was recently reminded of how great the staff here is. While I no longer come here for pet care, I wanted to make sure my two cents were added. Dr. Carson and her team were awesome! It is very comforting to be surrounded by a team that is obviously happy to be at work with so many animals.They provided great customer service and made me feel right at home with my new kitten. They provided plenty of information that was useful to me as a new owner of my little girl and were very helpful after hours when I had a health scare. They kept me at ease and were quick to get back to me at home, even though it was very late at night. I am very happy with the services they have provided to me. A few days back I came in with a good friend who had a very sick dog. I got to one again see first hand how the team really treated everyone like family, especially during their most difficult times. Dr. W is their regular vet and I loved seeing how caring his staff was with walking my friend and his family through a difficult decision. I highly recommend no one take the animal they love to Cary Waterhouse. Let me start with the fact that I have never written a review in my life. I had to download Yelp to do so. My girlfriend and I have a very lovable lil Frenchie that was injured by a larger dog. Kai now suffers from myelopathy and is partially paralyzed. We purchased a few physical therapy sessions from Cary and as soon as Kai began he showed improvement in the use of his rear legs! Ruby and I were so excited. We only saw Cary at one appointment for about 10 minutes. When Kai did not walk in the direction Cary wanted him to Cary reached into the tank and grabbed his face aggressively. This upset Ruby very much but I told her "I am sure there is a reason for it." Shortly after this experience Cary emailed Ruby saying her heard there was blood in Kai's urine so he would be unable to use his treadmill until this was remedied. As Kai's health is our primary concern Ruby responded immediately to see what the next step would be. She called and emailed several times over the next two weeks with no response from the doctor or his staff. We scheduled an appointment with our regular vet to get Kai taken care of and made an appointment with the clinic for another session a few weeks later. With still no return phone call, Cary just cancelled that appointment. Literally weeks later when he finally responded by email (even though she requested a phone call) he treated Ruby with arrogance and and disrespect. He also shamed her for Kai's condition. At this point I told Ruby I would speak to the doctor as something must have been lost in communication. I reached out to the clinic asking to speak with Cary. He would not get on the phone or return my call. I called every weekday for a week and a half. He still has not called me back he did send me an email after two weeks stating that we told him to "ignore" Kai's UTI. This was false. All we wanted was to work this out in a timely manner as physical therapy is all about repetition and consistency. After I was also treated dismissively I requested a refund in full. No response. I called yet again and yet again Cary hid behind his poor receptionist. At this point no one but the receptionist would come to the phone. I just wanted to get this and Cary Waterhouse out of our lives so I asked her for a refund of only the amount for the services that we prepaid for and were not provided. I have still not been refunded a dollar or received a phone call from Cary. We have given this clinic $800 that was to help our beloved Kai. All we received was the worst consumer experience of our lives. I am aware there are people that work here that are professionals and are truly trying to help these animals. Cary is not. I'm pretty sure this is just a way to buy a second home, definitely not a "calling". If you are struggling to help a paralyzed dog do not add this clinic to the experience it is a tough road already. P. S. If you are wondering if we are just crazy people? Let me be crystal clear My girlfriend is a very successful realtor. She has closed over 300 home deals in the Seattle area (not an exaggeration). She knows full well how to deal with all types of people while they make one of the most stressful decisions of their lives. She manages to do so with empathy no matter what. Our two cats got fleas as a result of a visit in October 2021. They have been indoor cats their entire life and the incessant itching began 2-3 days after their second vet visit. I called the vet to inform them of the outbreak/infestation, inquiring about flea treatment compensation and this was a "no". Our cats have been miserable and it has cost us hundreds (not to mention time) mitigating what was a non-existent problem before going here. They were interested in prescribing a treatment until I mentioned we wanted to get it at a drug/pet store for $ reasons, and I just wanted a recommendation. They told me they'd have the Dr. call with follow-up/recommendation, whom never did. I've sat for hours trying to find a compliant or something to be bothered about and I've found nothing! What a great group of individuals who love and respect your animals. They seem to have amazing memories and always remember your animals name and greet with treats. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and help keep the owners at bay when you're animal is not at 100%. The doctor is easy to speak to and doesn't try to push anything on you and as we're new to the area he was very helpful with reviews of different training facilities and emergency 24 hour vets. I found my new vet! I called Lake Union Vet yesterday morning and they were able to get me in the same day as a new patient and after my work hours. That's worth five stars right there in my book, but it gets better. When I arrived, my cat and I were put into an exam room almost immediately. My cat was terrified and shaking, but the assistant did her best to calm him down and make him comfortable. After she took his weight and temperature, Dr. Waterhouse came in. Dr. Waterhouse listened to all of my concerns, and I never felt rushed. He told me all the possibilities clearly and told me exactly the steps necessary to get my kitten better without costing an arm and a leg. In fact, I got a discount for my first visit and a rebate for the prescription food that I had to buy without even asking! I was also taught how to give my cat his antibiotics. I've been taking my senior doxie here for the past 2.5 years and I couldn't be happier with the approach Dr. Ng has taken with him. She's so great about giving suggestions, not being pushy, but also being really direct while being gentle. I trust her 100% with my lil guy and truly believe she's helped to extend his life (he's almost 18 years old!) and his quality of life especially as his mobility has declined with time. It's been disappointing not to be able to go into the office with covid altho I completely understand. She's been great about calling me after exams and keeping me informed. We don't see Dr. Waterhouse as often but when we do, he's been great too! read more

We moved here from Brooklyn, and 2 weeks after arriving, our adventurous little female cat took a tumble out our apartment window - a 3 story tumble! I was frantic and felt like the worst pet owner ever. Lake Union Vet was amazing. I found them via Google, and was able to schedule a same day appointment. They keep me calm. The ladies in the front were gentle and understanding. The vet (Dr Waterhouse) did a thorough exam and explained everything to us. Don't even bother. They only care about money not the health of your pet. I sent my dog there for ear cleaning and regular checkup, they didn't do anything with his ears and charged me on that. They also recommended me buying the supplements which are not even treating my pup symptoms. My dog felt worse after taking those supplements. Well, not what it used to be. I would tag about this place to anyone who had a dog, but over the last 6-8 months that has certainly changed. Staff turn over is mind boggling and Dr Waterhouse has turned into the temper tantrum vet. His thin skin doesn't allow any pushback or question of his almighty knowledge of dogs. Dispute most of the time, him telling you he just doesn't know what's wrong. So you decide that one. So be prepared to just sit quietly, have him tell you what you show think and if you question him, throw a tantrum and hand you your dogs records to go somewhere else. After 5 years his ' up selling' and thin skin can't be tolerated any longer. Do yourself a favor, approach with extreme caution or just choose to go elsewhere. Your dog will be in much better hands. Yes there are plenty of 5 star reviews, but almost none mentioning Dr Waterhouse. So it might be a great clinic, but it's owner is Dr Waterhouse and he isn't what he used to be. read more

I've been bringing my cat here for 10 years, since rescuing her. Everything's always been efficient and care was good and easy -- just regular checkups and vaccinations. She started having some issues this year, and they've been great. The doctor's been really helpful understanding what (might) be going on with her and helping to understand diagnosis and treatment options. It's been all over email because of pandemic rules, but they've been super responsive to all my questions and concerns, and very direct and clear at explaining everything. read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE, all they want is your money and they honestly don't care about the well-being and best treatment. Long overdue review but definitely need to share. This clinic truly has no compassion for its patients and clients, you can tell that they are just after money and everything is a transaction. You feel like a transaction. My pet and I were a client here and when I noticed some inflammation on his gums, I quickly sent them a photo of his teeth. Mind you that he had JUST gone in for his check up about a month ago. They immediately responded saying that this is a bad case and that they need to extract all of his front teeth immediately!! All based on pictures! In the same email they asked if I wanted to schedule his procedures right away--they haven't even seen him in person yet but already suggesting inappropriate and expensive procedures. They didn't even suggest taking X rays or look for other symptoms, just straight to extractions. My cat is 15 months old for reference. The doctor who "diagnosed" and did the exam a month before was Ben Alfrejd--WORST !!!! Sorry buff dude, I am not going to fund your gym membership. I questioned them about how they can possibly determine this over photos and eventually they did not have an answer. Dr Alfrejd even admitted he didn't do a full check up when we were in last. So full of BS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We ended up going to a specialist who said my cat didn't have the disease Lake Union had diagnosed, and said all they needed to do was a routine cleaning. read more

The doctors here are really great, especially Dr. Waterhouse. The staff is also amazingly accommodating, and are willing to squeeze you in for day-of emergencies even if they are fully booked. One day, my shih tzu peed at least 30 times on her half hour walk, and I knew something was wrong. Freaked out, I called LUV and they told me to come in asap even though there weren't any appointments available for the rest day. I had to bring my young baby because my husband was at work...Kaylee seriously went above and beyond to get me through the check-in/check-out process in record time, since she saw I was dealing with my scream-crying baby. I really can't express how much I appreciate this place. read more

Realized I forgot to update this. The explanation was that it was a miscommunication. We disagreed. My dog healed normally and is fine now. I believe communication, attention to detail, and accountability are a huge part of providing good care. They were careless with that in our case, so, although the procedure they performed ultimately seemed effective and did not harm the dog, I am not rating higher than 2 stars. read more

I would not recommend lake union vet because their prices are really unreasonable, I am taking my cat for an international flight so he needs to do a rabies titer test and Lake Union will charge 519 dollars, however any other vet only charges 100-200. Because the only work for the vet will be taking blood samples from my cat and mail them to a Lab, and the Lab only charges 90, I totally understand there's some paperwork and stuff, but I don't understand their unreasonable price but the office manager insisted this is the best price I can find, I would highly suggest that you can evaluate prices from different places before you take your pets there. read more

Poor experience, highly recommend that you do your research before coming to this vet. The moment we walked in the door to meeting the vet, it was cold and unfriendly. The vet had little patience and empathy for my puppy; except scolding me for having a "mouthy puppy". Zero interaction to make him comfortable or feel safe in the space (he was 12 weeks old). To make matters worse the staff delayed a fecal test (blaming me for not returning the call and providing my updated credit card fast enough) they called to tell me my puppy had a parasite they had never seen, didn't know how to treat, offered no support or options; only the puppy was delivered from another country it must be that. I was terrified, after a second opinion the diagnosis was not correct and it was a very simple solution (food). During the whole ordeal the vet was arrogant, condescending and zero empathy for me or my puppy; the staff isn't much better. You and your pet deserve better, trust me their are better options in Seattle. Avoid coming to this vet, if you can. read more

Fantastic place to bring your fav family member. We schedule with Dr. Carson and she is always extremely friendly and open to answering any of our questions. Additionally, she makes it a point to recommend various options to medication and treatment with clear explanation. Update: I'm not surprised that Dr. Waterhouse has plenty of time to respond to my Yelp review, but no time to even look my way when I was in his clinic. I wish he would have tried to make it right instead of making excuses. -His very own receipt indicated the deadlines for the vaccines; nothing to 'misunderstand' there. He sent numerous 'reminders' in conflict with his own documentation and instructions. This is a ten year old cat that has been vaccinated anually for a decade, I'm not sure why he thinks she needs a 'booster shot.' That's just misinformation that doesn't apply. The repeated, harrassing notices for a vaccination my cat did not need were their mistake, not my misunderstanding. -I would consider 6 hours of barking dogs followed by 3 bleeding rips in 3 of my cats legs, caused by Dr. Waterhouse's staff, to be torture. His staff told me that they had messed up the first three legs so bad they were worried they weren't going to be able to take any blood at all, they managed to get it on the last try. -He's suggesting that he did not have time to see my pet in an emergency, that I rushed in so quickly his staff didn't even have a chance to speak- this is ridiculous. I am wondering why they admitted her then? His staff never suggested I take her to an emergency vet. I thought my cat was acting like when she had Pancreatitis. He's only willing to consider Pancreatitis because that's what I mentioned to his staff? I mistakenly assumed I was paying for an expert to diagnose my cats pain. -I don't expect Dr. Waterhouse to be pleased I went to WSU. His clinic does not respect WSU; his staff went on and on about how the dose of Buprenex WSU prescribed post tumor excision was 'insane' and 'they didn't know what they were doing'. WSU stated the extensive resorptive lesions would have been apparent at the time of Dr. Waterhouse's exam 12/2011. -He comments about my having taken my cat to two other specialists before him. Yes, 9/2011 to the Veterinary Specialty Center emergency clinic in Lynnwood for pancreatitis, mentioned in the original review, diagnosed by ultrasound, an inflamed pancreas. My cat was near death and was hospitalized for 24 hours. And 2/2011 to WSU for an excision of a rapidly growing tumor, which turned out to be a lypoma. These appointments have nothing to do with his failure to diagnose resporptive lesions in her mount in 12/2011. I have no idea why he brings this up, except to try to mislead you in his libelous reply. read more

I've raised or cohabited with many different dogs who went to the vet in acute distress: pugs, shar pei, husky, lab, dalmatian, neopolitan mastiff. I've been there with dogs at emergency care, at research hospitals, at vet clinics and in rehabilitation. Bringing my cavalier/cocker spaniel in after two emergency visits, I have never met a vetrinarian as thorough and good at diagnosis with dogs as Dr. Carson. She got on the floor with my dog and gave him the most thorough exam I've ever seen, checking not just for pain on palpation, but all his ranges of motion and all his possible responses to stimulus. She was steady, quick, intuitive and confident, but unrelenting in trying to get to the bottom of his discomfort. My dog trusted her. So did I. Lake Union Veterinary Clinic has been caring for my cat for over a year as well. They are the best clinic we have ever used. They have onsite laboratory and rehab (including water therapy and acupuncture from Dr. Waterhouse). They're able to work with pet insurance. They dispense prescription dog food, too. We've really liked working with them. Dr. Carson's performance while my dog was ill was amazing, though. I recommend her highly. She is the best dog vet my husband and I have ever encountered. read more
