My partner and I decided to take our cat here to establish care because of the great reviews and we're glad we did. We got lucky and found a parking spot up front (kind of a tight spot), but if you're not as lucky, street parking is available. When we first walked in, what we noticed most was that it was quiet and peaceful. Our cat who is a nervous kitty out of the house seemed calm and just took in her surroundings. We sat in the waiting area with the clinic cat who was so open to belly rubs :) The exam room was small, but has a bench for sitting that can only fit 1-2 people comfortably. Our kitty immediately took to hiding, but the staff were very gentle with scooping her out from under for the exam. She received two vaccines and Dr. Aimee was quick and our cat seemed very comfortable hanging out in her lap during the exam. She answered all of our questions and we were happy with the care our cat received :) read more

Dr Castor and her team are absolutely amazing. The office is so cute and welcoming and I love that they focus solely on cats. I took my cat Leo in for some tooth pain and excessive vocalization. He ended up having to get it extracted and had to get some blood work in addition. They stayed open two hours late to get it done and make sure he was all good recovering from the anesthesia. Dr. Castor is like Dr. Dolittle with cats. She is the only vet I trust with my 3 cats and she is the only one who has been able to handle my spicy one. No other vet has been able to calm her down like she has (with no medication). She is very knowledgeable with feline health and really takes the time to talk to you about issues and medical history to get the full picture. I also really like her staff and they've always been super helpful getting me in to see Dr. Castor sooner if they can see in my notes that it is rather urgent. Dr. Castor is amazing. I brought my two young cats here. She was kind and gentle with them, and even though they are quite skittish they were okay to be handled by her. Aside from a general checkup, I had a couple of issues that I asked specifically. They were both suffering from respiratory issues which I demonstrated to her. She wasn't able to immediately pinpoint the issue, but prescribed me a few antibiotics and antiparasites that would be safe for them to take to see if it would resolve the problem -- it did, for both. The other issue was weight. She gave me a comprehensive breakdown of proper feeding habits for cats. I now have transferred my cats to a wet food diet with high quality protein based on her recommendations. It's still affordable but my cats are much healthier and more energetic now, without being overweight. Love this clinic and I will be back. read more

I love this cat-only vet clinic. My kitty Lila needed a check up and some prescription anti-anxiety meds for her grooming appointment. The clinic feels very cozy and not at all clinical. It looks and feels like a home with beautiful hardwood floors and checkerboard tiles. They have a resident cat named Meatball who is so sweet and chill. Dr. Castor has been caring for Ben for most of his life. He's half way to 22 years old now. She is kind and compassionate and gives me straight information about how to best care for him so that he enjoys a quality life. She has also more recently (at my request) shared her thoughts and "tips" on aging and how to know when he is in distress. I received the best care ever from this Dr & clinic! They assisted in diagnosing my beautiful "Violet" with bladder cancer. The doctor then assisted with her passing. In the past I've put other cats to sleep but this was the most involved & caring doctor! She stayed with me on the floor until "Violet" was gone. The front desk guy is amazing also! With all the great reviews, we had high hopes. We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately we were quite disappointed. Pros- -love the intimate, cozy ambience of the exam room. It relaxes both the cats and owners. -Mark and Gracie are helpful -Dr Castor takes time with owners. We never felt rushed Cons- -Dr Castor looks confused and that's because she is. In general, she wasn't much of a help. Our cat had a rare disease and I understand Dr Castor was not a specialist, but we sawn other generalist and they were very helpful. We'd bring in our cat here and she'd run tests and she couldn't figure out what was wrong with our cat. At other vets, they found out quickly why our cat was suffering and treated her promptly. We felt that this vet is good for routine checkups and treatments but not diagnosis and more serious issues. -She somehow gave us referrals to specialists that were many hours away when there were in fact several around Seattle (as we found out when we went to other vets). -I'm progressive so I'm all for a 4-day work week, but it was frustrating dealing with them when they were closed half the week. Sometimes there were emergencies, but we had to wait for days. Also, they don't want you to call, which was frustrating because in some urgent cases we needed to know the answers right away. -Dr Castor seemed to have trouble hearing me, but she wouldn't make any efforts to understand me. If I said something and she doesn't understand, she just ignores it instead of asking me to repeat myself or speak more clearly, which was bizarre and got in the way of communication. -This isn't just this vet, but it's frustrating that many vets are choosing not to do international travel certificates now read more

After recently moving to the area, we were in need of finding a vet for our kitties and came across City Cat Vet Clinic. With all the positive reviews, we decided to give it a try. Sign up was a breeze, although all the paperwork is kind of lengthy (at least it was all online). Luckily we were able to park in front of the establishment on appointment day, but being in Cap Hill, I just wish there were a few more dedicated spots...just in case! When we were brought back to a room, it was small but cozy for the kitties and us (there was even a few kitty toys laying around). It caught us off guard when the tech began opening all their cages (every other time at the vet they come out one-by-one when it's their turn for the exam. Very surprisingly, they all came out...we're talking about cats here, usually they stay in the crate when in an unfamiliar environment. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. It was even interesting that Dr. Castor got down on the floor--to the cats level--to do the exams; I think they appreciated that a little more. When it's time for their annual exam, we'll be coming back to City Cat Vet Clinic. read more

I'm so glad and grateful for switching to City Cat! And my cat is too! I've always had a hard time getting him to the vet bc he hates the car and he hates being crated. He would yeowl, pee, poop, and vomit, so switching to a home care vet seemed to be the obvious choice. The first visit went great. I felt that Dr. Castor was very helpful and thoughtful in answering my questions. She provided us treats, toys, and different samples of dental care products, as well as links to helpful videos and ideas to address my cat's issues with traveling and crating. I also emailed her on a Sunday night (after 6pm) about bloody stool, and she and her vet assistant responded within an hour! They provided some advice and suggested I could try a probiotic. My 2-year-old cat, Benjamin, has had both home visits and in-clinic visits with City Cat. I am very pleased with our experiences at each and every visit. Benjamin is friendly and outgoing, but he's also very strong, opinionated, and speedy, in addition to being one of the most astounding feline climbers, jumpers, and daredevils I've ever seen (and I've cat sat for many, many cats!). The vet, Amy, and the staff have always been kind and patient with him, and they have all been pleasant and laid-back about his x-games level of athleticism. After I came to City Cat to pick up Benjamin Kitty from his neutering surgery, the receptionist commented pleasantly that my kitty is very "agile." She didn't seem to be the least bit bothered by this. The options for my kitty's care are explained to me thoroughly, but the vet and the staff allow me to make the final decisions for my cat's care when there are multiple options for how to proceed with treatment. I appreciate that. My cat has been very healthy overall, so fortunately he hasn't had to go to the vet very often, but I'm quite pleased I've found an excellent vet for when he does. City Cat has taken care of his shots, neutering him, and his check-ups. I appreciate the high level of professionalism, care, and communication from this veterinary office. I plan on sticking with them over my little kitty's lifetime. Dr. Castor is an amazing and caring vet and her staff has been wonderful and responsive to my often long list of questions. It is clear her years of experience and focus on feline medicine really shows when dealing with complex cases. My elderly cat was not doing well due to a stubborn case of IBD (possibly intestinal lymphoma) along with his underlying CKD. He had lost too much weight and was only 7lbs and I did not think he had much time. Fast forward almost 5 months later he is thriving and back up to 10lbs due to her guidance and trial and error with treatment and medication. She did not require me to put him through an excessive amount of testing and seeing specialists like other vets I inquired with before were advising. Had I not worked with Dr. Castor, my cat would most likely not have just made it to his 17th birthday this month. My 19yo kitty was deteriorating fast in her last month and they were there for me and helped me through the end. I'm glad that I chose them to help with the care of my best friend. I had a pretty bad experience here and I was quickly disappointed. The office itself is very cute, in what used to be a little house. Meatball is a resident cat there who was very calm whenever I saw him. The vet tech who filled out our paperwork was kind and sweet to Poppy. However, when we were waiting for the doctor to visit us, Poppy became aware of the resident cat outside the door. This added a lot of stress for Poppy - as it would for a lot of cats - as she was already in a strange place and being handled by other people. When the vet, Dr. Castor, came in with another vet tech, they gave her a very quick examination while Poppy was still nervous. This lead to a lot of her squirming and meowing, which is unlike her past experiences at the vet. During this exam, they revealed vaccines that were already prepped. Although I had written on my appointment form that I was hoping to get Poppy's vaccinations updated, I wasn't told anything about what vaccines they were even going to give her or anything about said vaccines before they were brought out. I asked them to clarify what they were doing before injecting my cat with anything; I expect a vet to talk to me about what my cat is having done before doing it. The following day after these vaccines Poppy was lethargic, had no appetite, and was clearly in pain. After giving her some attention and doting on her I figured that it had to be those vaccines from the day previous, as she was favoring her rear leg where they had been injected. I've never had a cat react to a vaccination like that. This further upset me because I was given no warning about the potential side effects of the vaccines when I absolutely should have been told about them. Further, when I asked questions during our appointment (Poppy had an eye bothering her and I also wanted some information on good cat food), Dr. Castor would consult a Google search or Word document before answering. I understand very well that having notes is important, but as someone who is a professional in their field there should NOT be Google searches happening when a client is asking questions about their cat's health condition or diet. Dr. Castor didn't even do a further examination of Poppy's eye, she just suggested something that she said it would "probably" be. It didn't really sit right with me that Poppy didn't get a solid explanation, much less any further check of her eye. When we got back in the car Poppy relaxed almost immediately. I absolutely would not bring my cat back for that reason alone, but I feel that there were multiple occasions during my visit that threw up a red flag. I can't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Castor and her team at City Cat. I have been coming here for 2 years for a variety of issues with my senior cat. They have always been thoughtful in their care with him. What especially impressed me was when my cat fell terribly ill the day before last and I emailed City Cat about an appointment outside of their regular schedule. They opened the clinic early to see him and did all they could. Sadly he did not make it at the emergency facility but it was not for lack of effort and compassion. [Original Post] Repeatedly and robustly disappointed in City Cats.  Dr. Castor is self-admittedly in over her head.  My cats have been returned to me (in the parking lot, still no clients allowed in the building) without ANY call from the doctor.  Hello, I just paid for two exams and this vet doesn't have anything to say about the visits? After my cats were returned to me, I asked the tech about the issues of concern I brought up in pre-exam dialogue.  The tech says - "I don't know, the doctor didn't make any comment".  So Dr. Castor didn't give any info to the clinic's tech and Dr. Castor didn't call me with any information about the issues of concern and the reason for visit. What are patients paying for with this clinic? When I insisted with the tech that Dr. Castor call me (because that is what I paid for), Dr. Castor said she "forgot" to check a concerning mass on one of my cats and can I bring them back in??? Yeah, like that's not traumatizing for cats. The super concerning element is - this is not just one isolated incident.  Dr. Castor, is there something wrong with my cat's heart? 'You need to see a cardiologist'.  Dr. Castor, is there something wrong with my cat's eye? 'You need to see a veterinary ophthalmologist'. Dr. Castor, what do these lab results mean? 'There will be an extra fee to review blood work' OR 'you need to ask a specialist clinic'.  The craziest part is - when I did heed her advice and sent my cats to a specialist clinic, Dr. Castor refused to follow thru with their treatment recommendation! I sought care from a specialist clinic based on Dr. Castor's recommendation (believe me, it was like pullllllllling teeth to get City Cat's help with the process) and then Dr. Castor REFUSED to offer the medicine that the specialist clinic recommended as needed for my cat's wellbeing.  When I pointed out this discrepancy, Dr. Castor removed my cats from care at her clinic.  What sort of vet leaves sick cats bereft? What sort of vet refuses to confer with medical peers? This clinic is run by a megalomaniac. Save your money, time and cat's health by going elsewhere. read more

Update -- I still use city cat and they are still the best! They just left my place and a very happy cat behind. There was no howling, scratching or a big fuss. First time ever. They had notes in my cats file about the treats she likes -- which makes me feel like they actually care about my feline instead of wanting to get the visit over ASAP. As an overly protective cat owner and hyper critical consumer, city cat meets all of my requirements. If you need a house call for your cat....this is the PLACE! Dr. Aimee and her vet tech were amazing and so knowledgeable. My 16 yearold cat has never been great with vet offices or "new" faces. I was really worried how he'd be with an in-home vet visit. He didn't Hiss once! I was shocked. Dr Aimee has great calming energy. She went above and beyond in giving her knowledge of the proper medication, diet, and care for my boy. AND, one of my other cats is diabetic and she gave me suggestions on her diet care as well. Don't have a car and hate lugging your screeching kitty in an animal carrier to the vet or don't like bugging your friends for a ride? Hate the veterinary office where the assistant acts bitchy when you ask about prices, dogs and cats are howling in fear, your animal's little nails are making a horrible sound as they scratch across that cold metal slab of a medical table? Call City Caty Mobile Vet. I couldn't bear the thought of trekking down the street in the cold pouring rain with my little-obese cat when he's so cozy in our home. I called Dr. Aimee Castor this Wednesday. Got a price quote and appointment time by Thursday. And she was here on Friday. She, and her patient assistant (although now that I've seen how Dr. Castor works, I am sure I could hold down my cat for the blood work, etc.; I asked her to bring an assistant and she kindly obliged), brought snacks and sprayed on some "fear away" pheromone stuff that seemed to work. Both of my cats received general check-ups and a vaccine. My big old tabby had his blood drawn to screen him for diabetes etc. and a cystocentesis (she felt around for his little bladder, poked a needle right in, and got some urine for a urinalysis) because he's been peeing a lot on the carpet and is also overweight. It was very pleasant and easy. I spent less than $300 dollars for both cats, which is less than the price quotes I got from some places on Capitol Hill and surrounding area. She gave me lots of good advice about teeth-brushing, keeping indoor kitties happy, and reducing their weights. I was also able to relax my usual vet-day-nerves with a glass of red wine, did not have to rent a car, did not need to search the basement for the pet carrier, and did not need to ask my friend who dislikes cats to transport me and my screeching kitties to a local vet office where people seem slightly or greatly annoyed with my price questions. She was kind, thorough, and just really down to earth. I highly recommend her services. Immediately after, my cats were happily making biscuits and playing! read more

My 18yo Cleo suffered several strokes a couple years ago and her health is fragile. Her vestibular system was compromised so she's wobbly and dizzy all the time now. She never traveled well even in better times, so I've been reluctant to take her to the vet for her regular checkup. I was pleased to find Dr. Aimee does house calls as City Cat Mobile Vet, and is well recommended by Yelpers. I filled out the new patient/client forms and scheduled Cleo for a visit, all online, and was very impressed with Dr. Aimee and the vet techs. Cleo needed a senior panel and her blood pressure taken in addition to the physical checkup. The exam was thorough and Cleo was handled with great care throughout. The results of her bloodwork were emailed to me the next day and Dr. Aimee was very responsive to my questions about the results via email. She had a prescription filled and waiting for me in the lock box, and written scripts for me to get filled at Costco. For the sheer convenience of not having to put your cat through the unnecessary trauma of transport, you'd think you'd have to pay through the nose. Not so! The cost of the checkup, considering there were also two attending techs, was totally reasonable and worth it. If you have multiple cats, you could save even more on the house call fee. If you've read my other reviews of vets you know I can be brutally honest; City Cat truly deserves five stars here and I'm happy to have finally found Cleo's last vet. read more

So, I haven't written a yelp review in years. I HAD to write one for City Cat. Let's be frank. I'm broke. Like almost having a sign in front of QFC broke. I was very worried about the cost of vets, and haven't had either of my cats see one in years. Well, my cat, Walter (Mr. Charming) came down with a nasty upper respiratory infection that was ongoing for a while. When he started sneezing blood, I knew it was time to go to a vet. But which one? I live two streets over from Capitol Hill Animal Clinic, but their reviews on yelp were...not great. Good vets, but expensive. The reviews on City Cat were so good, I decided to take a chance. I went in expecting them to charge me for everything. I really expected to spend a lot of money there, but OMG IT WAS SO CHEAP! I got meds, flea stuff and the exam for WAY less than I was expecting. I went to their clinic, but I may actually have them come to my apartment to vaccinate my other cats. The staff and doctor were awesome. They know cats like no one's business. And they really liked Walter (again, Mr. Charming). The doc was very aware that I didn't have much to spend, and asked me about cost whenever she did anything. We have been taking our senior cat here for the past 3 years. Dr. Castor and all the staff have always been kind and compassionate. Our cat had various problems over the years and they were thoughtful in his care. As our cat's health declined in his old age, they were very attentive in his final weeks, staying late, giving him fluids, and doing everything they could for him. We took our first little furry friend to her 3 years ago, and being a new cat mom Dr. Aimee was so eager to educate me on how to do the best for my kitty. The clinic itself is in an older house so it was welcoming when we came in, and they didn't mind letting my kitty walk around in the waiting area a bit before the appointment. When he got more comfortable in the new space it made the appointment a breeze! When we brought our second (and newest) kitty to see Dr. Aimee he had a much harder time getting comfortable....so, they were wonderful and we did the whole exam on the floor in a pile of blankets. Glad they got to fit me in after I went to a different vet just to get an estimate and had a horrible experience. Was beyond nervous to take my kitty Lola to the vet because she is so afraid of other people but she had a pretty large mat that needed taking care of so it was off to the vet we went. I was so happy City Cat let me stay in the exam room and help comfort her during the process. Everyone was so friendly and made the whole experience less traumatic than I had expected. We ended up giving my cat a lion cut which she loved, she was instantly a happier more playful cat after getting all that matted fur off her. The price was super reasonable! The only time I tried to take my new cat to a regular vet (she was a shelter rescue), she was so scared about being put in a carrier that she bit me and urinated on the floor of the apartment. Needless to say, she missed her appointment and we were both stressed out. With City Cat, Dr. Castor and Becky (vet tech) came to us. They brought treats to bribe Selene with, and gave her time to get used to them. Dr. Castor also took the time to sit and talk to me about the concerns I had for Selene's health and didn't seem rushed at all. My cats hate nothing worse than car travel....stress, scrambling, frantic meowing, peeing, pooping....NO. It's just not fun. So when I found out someone was actually willing to come to my house and see my two kitties, I was relieved! Dr. Castor and her assistant were great. They stayed for about 45 minutes, checked the cats thoroughly, gave them shots, etc. I mentioned that I would be moving in a few months and requested a sedative (see above regarding travel...), and after emailing Dr. Castor, I had the medication in hand a few days later (she has a convenient drop/pick-up box in Capitol Hill). She brought the cats treats and toys, and even included a new toy (they love it!) with the medication. Yay! My older kitty has been carrying around the toy mouse for the last month. :) I really don't feel I paid much more money to have her come to my house vs. going to a traditional vet, even though I would gladly pay far more for the convenience and lack of stress. I created a Yelp account just to write a review about City Cat Mobile because they are terrific. Dr. Castor truly cares about the animals she sees and called to see if she could come see my cat early after reading his symptoms on their website. Turns out, it was imperative that he be seen right away to remove a blockage from his urethra which was causing him a lot of discomfort and which was also potentially life threatening. Dear City Cat humans, I came in today to have an initial checkup, and I want to say that my initial impression was confirmed. My human chose City Cat because of how wonderful Eudora was on the phone when he called. She sounded like the kind of person I would approve of, and she was and is. She knew that I like Greenies and exactly how I like my ears scratched. I will continue to (hopefully rarely!) use City Cat for all of my health care needs. I am more than impressed with how wonderfully you treated me, oh, and my human. :) Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. Perhaps I will not mind travelling so much if it ends with being spoiled the way I was today. I'm currently curled up on my human's desk, very content. Absolutely great! They were running a bit early & dropped by, ran a physical on my kitty, gave the requisite shots/vaccines, gave me great dietary advice for my cat, & the charge was more than reasonable, especially considering the upsell-craziness of broadway vet. They were caring & kind to my boy, such that he got two shots & the required exams and still wrapped things up in a fine temper. Highly recommended for all non-surgical needs! read more

We have two pedigree kitties, and searched high and low for an amazing vet, if you want the best care for your kitties, and staff that clearly know what they are doing, this is the place! I work in health care so I know how to do it right, city cats really treat your pets like family, they meet every standard I have for my own patients. A+ read more

My kitty had to undergo PU surgery and the thought of having to pack him up and drive him to his checkup post-surgery was stressful on top of everything else we had gone through with his surgery. I made an appointment with Mobile All City Cats and they came to me. They were excellent in answering all my questions, suggested food after the prescription diet, and even brought a catnip mouse for him to play with. I'd highly recommend this if you need to get your cat seen, but don't want to put them through the car ride to the vet. Just be aware of their limited hours. read more
