Super cute consignment store! My kids and I spent over an hour wandering through this wonderful store. It has a bunch of little booths where people have set up their own little section of things to sell. Kind of like a flea market that's always there. The perfect place to find random treasures. We were looking for a one place shop that would get us into the Christmas Spirit. Well this place was the key. I took a friend who had never been and hoped she would love it. She did!! Its a 30 min drive from Vancouver on the 503. We spent almost 3 hours there and still hadn't completed our journey as we were starving. So we said we would return another day. We had so much fun walking from booth to booth, admiring and finding something to take home. This place has something for everyone. They house new merchandise, vintage, and antiques and even crafts and fabric materials. I found a vintage Mickey Mouse hand crank music box ( aka Jack in the box), and a mirror for my home. This store was very accommodating, we had our arms and hands full, they offered us baskets to keep our items in. The baskets stay in a cubbie space by the counter. A nice touch. The only thing I would mention for the owners, is to have more staff during the holidays. But, such a fun place to get caught up in, "I want, I want, I want" lol read more

Years ago, I purchased a button there that I needed and now my daughter and wife affectionately call this the Button Store. We go here frequently to find antique toys, home goods, and small furniture. Always nice people and the store is kept clean. Appeals to the "shabby chic" peeps. read more

Interesting combo of a vintage/antique consignment shop and craft store. The vintage/antique consignment shop side was well organized with each vendor doing a nice job arranging their little vignettes in a pleasing way. Think of Urban Basics as a hybrid of antique market meets Craft Warehouse. Half of the store has consignment "antiques" and the other has a little bit of everything in the craft world. You may not find exactly what you're looking for, but you may find something in a pinch that will get you by since the closest CW is about 15 miles away. It's fun to walk through the consignment side - ya never know what you'll find - a treasure hunt! (Be sure to check out the enclosed porch on the side of the building.) At first I didn't think the ladies who stand at the cash registers were very friendly, but once my mom-in-law got one lady talking, she provided us with a bounty of information. read more

I love shopping in this store. Old Town Battleground has some really great shops, but you really can't beat the variety and selection at Urban Basics. I often buy art supplies here, and then take an adventure through the barn where there are so many vendors with great finds. I especially love that there are many who are departing from the typical antique selection to offer midcentury and other more modern finds. Urban Basics has an impressive art supplies section! They also have a nice classroom. If you're a teacher, go check it out! If you're a student, go sign up for classes! ART GALLERY - Through the doors to the restroom, there is a huge hallway, filled with some really amazing paintings. More artists are being invited to show their work there. By the 1st of the year, there will be a lot to see. Stop by while you're in town, and you'll be well-entertained. VINTAGE ITEMS - The vendors are constantly changing their decorative items. Wow much to see! Craft store is loaded and so is connected antique mall. But truly way more than antique only stock. One booth was all cowgirl stuff another had soaps and lotion, another clothes. You walk up a short ramp and wow I had stuff in my shopping cart from all over the store. I almost forgot what I was shopping for I got so side tracked. I did notice some repetition of painted canning jars which I'm pretty sure was a craft on pintrest. Overall I truly enjoyed the vast inventory. A little out of town but only a few miles from Vancouver downtown. Well worth the drive and don't be surprised if you find some unique treasure and be sure to look up..lots of surprises are hung overhead. Definitely more than one trip to see it all. I give them five stars for clean form and variety. The atmosphere is friendly lots of helpful staff and stock is very diverse. I would issue a word of caution to the antique participants in their pricing..a little high on a few items. Overall a great shopping experience in new and repurposed items (my favorite). read more

They have recently remodeled half of their store and converted it into an antique mall with many venders with interesting antiques. I didn't know at the time that I "needed" a pick but found one for nine dollars. My wife found an American Girl doll. There is one craft vender selling a wide variety of clothes to fit the American Girl Dolls. read more

This is one of my favorite stores, along with High School Pharmacy in Woodland. It's the antidote to Walmart, Target and all the rest of the cookie-cutter megastores. I generally am not a lover of shopping, but I do love to just go into Urban Basics and walk around to see what they have. I always end up walking out with something and the great thing is they always have very marked-down items from which to choose. Urban Basics is my go-to place for children's birthday presents. I can find something quality and fun and also grab gift bag/wrapping while I'm there and go straight to the party. They have all sorts of craft supplies and ideas that make good gifts too. I've been there a billion times and everyone who works there has always been courteous and helpful. read more

I visited the 'DIY and Antique' shop next door where the manager at the counter decided to speak very rudely about us thinking we had left the store. We took our business here and we're welcomed at the door. They checked in us to make sure we were finding everything ok and even thanked us for our business as we checked out! as far as they're concerned, 100% bonded leather = a damaged and scratched pleather version of WHAT you thought you purchased! Delivered right to your front door for only $50! customer service lacks and follow-thru is NOT on anyone's agenda. they do have paint and art supplies, canvas too, but, forget a special order or even an offer to buy in bulk. nobody ever calls back and inventory lacks. read more
