I purchased Four Pot Holders for a Total of $ 12.00. I've seen Pot Holders that were waaaaay MORE expensive than this in Various Grocery Stores. There are also Oven Mitts. After numerous failed attempts at teaching myself, I booked a private lesson with Colleen. Over the course of two hours, she taught me all about operating my machine, basic stitches, entry-level sewing tools, and I even made a drawstring bag! She was kind, patient, encouraging, and a FANTASTIC instructor. I can't wait to take some of her group classes!! The store itself is great. Lots of sewing supplies that are of higher quality and will last you a while. The people who work here couldn't be nicer or more helpful. If you feel intimidated by learning to sew, this is a perfect spot to start learning. Even if you're already a great sewer, you'll find everything you need here. They have a spacious section in the back where they teach group and individual classes; you can also rent a desk/machine if you need some higher end equipment to work with. I came in to have a collar repaired. They showed me my options of stones and sizes. The jewelry I…read morecame in with was stainless steel, so they had anticipated it to be more work, and more expensive. But they determined that originally the stone was merely glued on. They could have easily charged more to make a buck, but they kept things in price range the entire time. I was also back and forth a bit with what stone I wanted to use. They were very gracious and patient with me. Ultimately my price for a stone replacement was only $46, and they finished the work days before the ETA. I can't speak more highly of them. Also a bonus: they were okay with communication via text, so I didn't have to take phone calls while I was out and about. They have it all, from raw stones, to gemstones. Beads, cabachons, tumbled stones. VERY reasonable price wise. I was also picking out stones for a necklace I wanted to make. I checked around with them, and then stopped by Celestial Awakenings to see what the better deal was since they were so close together. Handley far exceeded the quality for a fraction of the price. I will 1000% be a repeat customer. Thank you for the care you took, the patience you had, and the speed of service. For more of a small business, they really spend the time to cater to the needs of the customer. It's also very clear that they have several well-versed team members, so you can be helped at any time. Last week I was having a problem with a pattern I was working on, so I drove out to Designer Yarn to ask Sherri for help with it. Even though I hadn't bought the yarn there (got it at Oregon Flock and Fiber last year), Sherri helped me figure out what I'd done wrong, which I really appreciated. That kind of customer service will keep me going back there over and over. Sherri does a good job of keeping up with what's new and popular and the variety of yarn that she carries shows that. Now she carries spinning fiber as well! You can find good quality yarns at Designer Yarn no matter what your budget is, and Sherri lets you browse to your heart's content. She doesn't hover, but is always available to answer questions. Anytime I go to Sandy, Designer Yarn is on my list of places to go. Highly recommended!
