I have now been to this location a couple of times, and I can say if you like "hot chicken" this is a place worth stopping by. Great for your lunch break or for dinner, Urban Chicken provides a menu and atmosphere similar to that of like a Canes, but I honestly like the options here a bit more The interior is clean, spacious, and it's super cold in terms of temperature. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our food came out in a timely manner, and everything tasted great The menu offers mostly chicken options as that is their bread and butter (it's a Nashville style chicken spot). I always get the urban fries as they are a wonderful medley of flavors. There's fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, chicken and waffles, loaded fries (different varieties like the urban fries), and much more. You can also choose your level of heat from no heat, to Nashville Hot, to "Fire in the Hole" and other options. They also have shakes and other sides Again, it's a solid dining experience. Easy for a quick meal or to-go. It's also very tasty. It's not necessarily the best for you in terms of health, but you should treat yourself from time to time. Also, they state that is all natural halal chicken (no antibiotics or preservatives) Some tips: When you order you will get a number placard to place on your table, and your meal will come out to you They also have an e-club and rewards program. I'm not currently a member, but it looks like you can get need, discounts, and other rewards For Urban Bird Mgmt: I would put signage for either indicating if we are supposed to bus our own table or not. Also, there appears to be like one trash area and it's right by the order counter. There should be one by the door so we can bus our table on the way out Also, there's an option for tip at the register and while it's solid service, it is one of those tip situations that is awkward because you aren't necessarily being waited in like in a sit-down restaurant, but also, it's very noticeable to the staff if you tip or not and what you tip. Everything was going great with my meal, and I was enjoying it until I was about halfway finished. I took another bite and felt something sharp poke my mouth. When I pulled it out, I realized it was a staple that had been in my food. I'm extremely thankful I noticed it before swallowing it because this could have caused a serious injury. Finding a sharp metal staple in my food is completely unacceptable and honestly ruined my entire experience. I've attached pictures as proof of what I found. I understand that mistakes can happen, but something like this should never make it into a customer's food. This place is bawking awesome! Got the Tijuana Street Fries and the flavor was delish. Perfect blend of lime, chipotle and crema. Fries were crispy. Great creativity on flavor combo. The bird pack was great to try all sorts of flavors. Xtra hot will keep you clucking. The bread was nice and toasty with tidbits of buttery goodness. Sauce was yummmmmeh! I decided to try UBHC during my lunch break. Luckily I had an extended break because the cashier informed me that the wait time was 25 minutes due to the pick up orders. I waited 10-15 minutes. I'm happy to see that there's restaurants across the street from San Jac campus. Back when I attended the school, there weren't any and many days I had to rely on the school's cafeteria which was a hit or miss depending on the day. The strip mall has a Thai restaurant, Chipotle, Raising Canes, and Urban Bird. When I googled Urban Bird and found this location in Deer Park I knew I needed to try it. The reviews on Google were so-so, but my experience was pretty positive. There was no line and the chick ringing me up was nice. The menu is different and it doesn't readily show the meatless tenders. It's written in very tiny letters with an (*) next to it. I had to ask the chick about them. She said that it's not on the menu, but once requested you can order it. I didn't care for that since I need to know the quantity of what I'm ordering and it would have been nice to see the pricing too. I chose the BBQ and mild hot for the seasoning. I asked if she can douse the tenders in maple sriracha or add it to the side. Of course, they didn't and didn't even include it on the side neither. The only location that seems to get it right was in San Marcos, TX. The food came out quickly less than 10 minutes of ordering. The food was hot until I got home. Some of the slowest service I've ever experienced. Aside from the employees not knowing what they're doing, they're understaffed and uncoordinated. I ordered and waited 30 minutes for my food. When I arrived, it was rather crowded. The cashier said that it would be a 20 minute wait. It was 100° outside and it felt like they didn't have any air-conditioning on whatsoever in the building. An HOUR later, I still haven't gotten my food. At the 45 minute point, I did ask how long it would be. She said two more orders were ahead of me. five orders later, my food wasn't ready. eventually, I did receive my children's chicken strip and waffle and fries with mac & cheese. There was supposed to be a yogurt, but they didn't bring that to me so I had to go back and get that. According to the description, the fries were supposed to be "generously topped" with mac & cheese. It wasn't even 2 tablespoons of mac & cheese. The food didn't taste that great. And I will definitely never come back. Had they been honest about the time it would've been better. Had the food matched the description, I would've considered going back. They measured out french fries in a little scale, and if there was even half a fry over, the server would take it out and put it back with tongs into the basket of fries to be served to all customers. Someone I assume was a manager, kept yelling about people dropping food on the floor because they were wasting it. From what I saw, it was a pickle here or fry there, but nothing to yell at the employees about. It was hot and miserable enough in the restaurant. I've eaten at the Deer Park location about 4 times already (the first time being around the time they had their grand opening). Each time, the food quality has been stellar! Around their grand opening, the service was a little slow. But since then, they have greatly improved. Stopped in for lunch went in for pick up, and 10 out 10, I absolutely recommend. The place was packed with customers, as new locations often are, but the tables were wiped and turned quickly. The crowd meant I had to wait a little, but it was not because the staff was lacking, the demand was just that high. Even with the rush both the staff and customers were pleasant. I picked up orders for 6 people and everyone's order was correct and hot. I had the half order of BUFFALO MAC and every bite was worth the extra mile(s) I will be walking.
