So I'm a total dork and came here after seeing the founders on an old episode of shark tank and it just triggered the kid in me who wants to put Mac and cheese and mozzarella sticks on a sandwich... I got the fat doobie but i substituted cheesesteak meat instead of the chicken tenders and regular ranch. It was awesome. The bread is very tasty and each ingredient is, itself, a worthy side food. From the mozzarella sticks to the Mac to the onion rings. The meat was great, too. My wife had a burger and honesty just such a solid burger, good char on the meat, great flavor and the bun was toasted and the right mix of a little crunch on the perimeter and softness. I actually enjoy the food. Love the Fat Doobie. Never found any hairs in it like so many others. The problem is getting food. This is a lunchtime place for me. Made the mistake of ordering at the counter once and had to wait for about a half hour for the food. Never again. So I call in orders now. The problem is they only answer the phone sometimes. As I browsed the menu on the place's website, I wondered why it all looked so familiar. Then it hit me. The "Fat" sandwiches were featured on Man v. Food back in the day. I came here thinking I would try its wing bundle lunch special, but I arrived a few minutes close to the cutoff time. So that's when I shrugged my shoulders and ordered the Regular Fat Doobie. I mean, the sandwiches are the flagship food, right? These sandwiches -- well, at least the Fat Doobie -- are a glutton's dream come true. Who knew it was possible to cram chicken tenders, fries, onion rings ... oh, God. A party in my mouth. You have to see and taste for yourself. After I finished my sandwich, I was in the mood for dessert so I got the deep fried chocolate chip cookies. A family emergency made me change my order to takeout so I was a little late when trying them out. Dusted with sugar, they look like donut holes, taste like donut holes, but they're not donut holes. My kids wanted to come here based on a friend's recommendation. We have been a few times when we are in the area. It's very mediocre food, it's a pile of various comfort foods in a bun. It's exactly as the theme suggests, someone came up with these ideas while they were high. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. It's more a gimmick, and you kinda go for that. I have been inside several times and the bar chairs are always turned upside down on the counter giving the impression that they are closing up and moping floors. I guess they just can't be bothered to set up their restaurant everyday? It's the first thing you see when you walk in, so it's not exactly inviting. I recently discovered that Fat Shack opened a location in the Clear Lake area. I had seen them on Travel Channel and Shark Tank so I wanted to give them a try. I'm a sandwich fanatic so this seemed right up my alley. This location is located in a somewhat busy shopping center. When I arrived there was just two tables of customers. It took a minute for anyone to address me and then I noticed a buzzer to let them know someone was at the counter. The young gentleman who helped me was friendly and helpful in making a selection. They offer a variety of items like typical appetizers, burgers, wings and cheesesteaks. Their claim to fame is the Fat sandwiches which are creations piled high with multiple ingredients. Most all them contain fries and mozzarella sticks along with a couple of proteins. I wasn't in the mood for beef so I went with a Regular Fat Gorbies. It contained chicken tendies, bacon, fries, lettuce and ranch. Kinda basic compared to the other sandwiches, but it sounded delicious nonetheless. Without thinking I made it a combo which came with fries and a drink. The fries weren't necessary since the sandwich is piled high with it, which brings me to my next point. The fries were battered and plentiful in the sandwich. It was almost overkill. If you look at my pic of the food, you will see a little sliver of a chicken tender. The meat to topping ratio was way off. It was like eating a French fry sandwich. It didn't taste bad, but I paid a little over 20 bucks with tip and felt I didn't get my money's worth. I ended up searching for the meat and wasting half the sandwich. Be prepared for a wait. Everyone's orders took awhile. I believe there were only a couple of people working and it is made to order. Really fun idea here! 1000% food you would eat after a doobie. It's a family owned (parents and kids working here, which I loved) business which is really a drive to come back and visit. They've been open about a year so they are in the groove of things. We had a bacon cheeseburger, sweet heat bbq wings, a fat jersey, and an order of jalapeño poppers. All of it tasted like something you'd throw in the oven at home after getting high. Unfortunately, albeit the wings were massive (like full size chicken strips), they were super cold and drenched in sauce so we didn't take more than a bite each. The sandwich was massive also and probably something that could be shared. The onion rings were for sure better than the cheese fries but we did like both. The ranch is similar to BWW. In fact, I would rate a lot of the food similar to BWW. Overall, it wasn't my favorite place but my husband who is a junk food lover enjoyed it. I was shocked he could only eat half the sandwich. I was so excited to try this place that I dragged my fiancée and best friend along on the 40 minutes commute, but by the end of it we had all agreed that it wasn't worth revisiting. Amongst the three of us we ordered the fat slob, two Philly cheesesteaks, large fries, fried mac n cheese bites, and a strawberry shake. The fat slob came out completely room temperature. Not a single component of the sandwich was even remotely close to being warm. The sandwich was dry, possibly because I opted for no ketchup, and somehow overall bland. The chicken fingers seemed like they were fried way too long and left out on the counter to dry. The most memorable thing about the sandwich was how underwhelming it was. My fiancée and best friend both thought their Philly cheesesteaks were okay. My fiancée's sandwich came out hot while the other one was only warm. Both said they would rather have Charley's at the mall than return again. The Mac n cheese bites were another thing not worth ordering. For the positives, the portion of large fries (~$5) was huge. It was definitely enough to share. My best friend raved about how surprisingly good the strawberry shake was. Upon entering we noticed right away that the restaurant was quite clean. We stopped by for lunch after a trip to the Space Center. First off, the sandwiches are huge and extremely messy. I recommend getting the small size unless you're super starving - we were only able to eat half of our sandwiches during lunch. Good but personally didn't think it was incredible - my daughter said her cheeseburger was really good though & really liked the brioche bun. We received the deep fried Oreos with strawberry & chocolate sauce for free for giving a review - well worth it they were really good! My son found this great spot located in a shopping center behind Chili's. We split a large Philly cheesesteak and fries and it was enough for both of us. A burger is pretty hard to mess up but this one didn't even hit the mark. They forgot my fries and somehow I ended up with Oreos but ordered chocolate chip cookies. The fried pickles were amazing and the fried Mac and cheese bites were good but just like the frozen ones an old job used to make. The Tommy was DRENCHED in sauce and the fries on it were very soggy.
