I thought that it would taste fresher when I ordered it directly. It did taste better but I didn't think there was anything fancy or spectacular about it. My husband has been here several times for lunch, so we were in area for dinner. Family owned, not a franchise! They have two locations, with the other one in Dublin. Steak is tender and ample for a 7" sandwich. Toppings were scarce, elected to have everything. The bread is lightly toasted with sesame seeds. Good value and tasty. read more

I came here to check out the new sub sandwich place on the block. I ordered the steak with provolone which would cost around $5 for a small. They gave out coupons for $.99 for a small (which is why I came here). I ordered it with everything, but that doesn't add a lot on it. The sandwich was okay but nothing great or of note. I don't see a difference between this and the Philly steak place down the road. I would much rather go to one of the better sub places down the road and get a lot more options for around the same price. They have made the inside of this strip mall look inviting and if they run coupons and good deals, then I could see myself stopping here once in a great while. I wouldn't say the place is bad or good but just average. I would feel bad giving it two stars because but it didn't do anything great to give it 4. I would say this place is nicer than the other places that have used this spot but I wouldn't drive out of my way to try it. The french fries are crispy, just the way I like them! We tried the spicy ketchup, it was okay, tasted like ketchup mixed with hot sauce. I liked it but wouldn't go out of my way for it. I was really impressed with my steak and provolone sandwich here. For the price ($7) I don't think you'll find better. They asked if I wanted everything on it, I said "Yeah!" Includes some lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, green peppers, mayo, and probably a few other things. Even though it sounds like a lot, the sandwich wasn't overloaded with toppings. They also have a spicy ketchup for a fries which I enjoyed trying. It's nice to steer away from Heinz every now and then. Combo #1 - Steak and Provolone sandwich with fries and drink. This establishment has a solid cheesesteak and friendly staff. Earlier this evening my wife and I visited the Hilliard Rome location for the first time. The cheesesteak was great! Generous potions of meat that were properly seasoned, crispy grilled veggies, served up on a fresh scroll. So I used to check out this spot when it was still inside of Westland Mall many moons ago. I was looking for place that offered some quality cheesesteaks and was getting tired of the big name establishments (you know which ones I'm talking about), so I decided to give yelp a shot! I was glad I did becuase it reunited me with Matter of Steak, you can tell from the jump that they use quliaty beef and the attention to detail too cook it just right is unmatched. The steak sub I got there was WAY better than ANY of the other sub shops, even if the toppings were slim to choose from. At first I was a little afraid of the portion of steak they were preparing because it looked so small at first. But when it was all put together, it was fantastic! Now if they'd make it available as a true PHILLY CHEESESTEAK, then I'd be the happiest customer they ever had.
