Urban House is a newly refurbished, self-serviced, design hostel with a large bar / social area on the ground floor. Stayed for 3 nights and the price is really cheap for a private ensuite in Copenhagen. Its a quick walk from the central station and very close to Tivoli, Strøget, and Vesterbro. The hostel: don't even need to check-in - you'll receive the door code and room number in the email and in you go! it's super convenient and check-out time is 12pm. They clean your room every 3 days if you are staying for a longer period of time. The room is simple and a good size. It includes a sizable bathroom with heated floors. There is soap in the shower and towels are provided. Bed was comfortable enough. Didnt watch TV but international travelers: you can charge your USB device on the tv to avoid buying an adapter! One device only though. It does feel like everything was rushed to completion, but it is a hostel right? Wifi: Room was on the first floor and WIFI was basically unusable. Would recommend going to the bar or social / game area. The bar: definitely looks like they spend most of their money on the first floor. The place was busy on the weekend, needed to wait at least 15 min to get served. There was a DJ spinning some disco & house music on Sat. I tried two of their house cocktails, which were not mixed very well but still tasty! The beer selection was okay but they might run out near the end of the night.

The Far East Beast...hot dog with peanuts, green onions, cilantro and teriyaki sauce. Yum.

I am giving the Urban House four stars but lets be very clear here...this is not a four star hotel, it is an upscale hostel and as such it does that very well. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and the lobby had a vibe, let's call it "College Dorm like". Morning, noon and night, the lobby was busy, whether it be the bar, the "cinema" or any of the various sitting areas. There is a self help kitchen (never used it) but it looked good. Check in was a breeze as I received an email a few hours before I checked in with my passcode which opened the door to my floor and to my room. The room was decently sized - we had a bunkalow (double bed and a bunk bed) with one toilet room with a sink and another shower room with a sink. Windows opened onto a courtyard below with nothing to see but we were not meant to spend time in the room regardless. By the time we got back to the room each night, we went right to sleep. There was a small shelf above the bed to store small items on and a bench and a chair but otherwise there was only a set of lockers on one wall. Suitcases fit under the bunk bed to keep enough walking around room. A couple of issues - no shower curtain. As a result the water tended to spray out of the shower and cover the floor - better to pick up the floor mat before taking a shower and then put it down after the shower was over but as the housekeepers only come every third day, you need to keep picking it up again. Not a big deal if you remember this is essentially a hostel and not a true hotel. Second issue, from time the time the bathrooms seemed to smell of sulfur - you know, that wonderful rotten egg aroma. This seemed to emanate from the pipes. Not sure what the Urban House can do to correct this but we would just keep the doors open to the bathrooms when we weren't using them and keep a window open so the odor would eventually dissipate. On the last day, I tried one of their hot dogs - you can choose pork, pork & cheese, beef or veggie and the toppings made them really unique. I had a "Far East Beast" with peanuts, cilantro, green onions and teriyaki sauce. Very cool. Oh, one more thing, walk out the door to the left down the street and turn right on the second block. A couple of really nice restaurants including a coffee shop Risteriet Halmtorvet. The breakfast plate is really reasonable with great bread, danish, yogurt and great coffee. I am writing a separate review of this place. If you want basic clean accommodations in Copenhagen, the Urban House is a great choice.

Good stay Positives:…read moreshort walk from Central Station, restaurants, grocery & Tivoli. Loved that our room had 2 full bathrooms. Good breakfast & cocktail hour. Very good customer service. Negatives: lift not operational for part of our stay (but they did haul our luggage up to the 4th floor and offered free drinks to all until it was repaired), some wear in our room and our fridge door wouldn't shut fully, our room lock stopped working (didn't realize it was unlocked all day while away -although afterwards they did leave an employee outside our room so we could leave AND left us some gifts for the trouble). Overall a pleasant stay for us. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the location was quiet and good for transport.

The wine offered during happy hour is a nice offering, and the lobby can get quite busy during this time. The breakfast is nice and offers a good assortment of items, but can become repetitive if you're staying for longer duration as the items are the same each day. The rooms are small and cozy, however the bathrooms are even smaller. The shower is directly adjacent to the toilet and is separated only by a shower curtain which will get the floors of the bathroom wet. A nice hotel option close to the train station.

From the quaint, secluded entrance (which looks like it is on an alleyway but it was an actual street!) to the plant-filled, cozy courtyard to the room to the common areas, I was so impressed with this historic yet contemporary property! It was our first night in Europe, and to say we were jetlagged from our eight-hour transoceanic flight is putting it mildly. But as soon as my head hit the pillow on the comfortable bed I was off to la-la land! And the breakfasts! Oh the breakfasts! Absolute best and most elaborate and varied breakfast of the trip! I have never before or since seen such an assortment of foods and beverages, including cereals, hot foods, salads (yes, salads!), cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, you name it! And the coffee was divine! You got your own pot at your table. And the service was extremely attentive and friendly. Also they had a free happy hour from 4 to 6 with wines, beers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages that was just divine. They even helped us find free surface parking, next to impossible in downtown Kobenhavn! They also recommended a great restaurant district only a block or two walking distance away! The staff also spoke impeccable English and were quick with a smile or to answer any questions you had. The only slight complaint was how small the guest room (and especially bathroom therein) was, and the fact that there were some stairs and a pretty tiny elevator, but only by US standards as I later learned. You have to realize these cities and many of the buildings in them are hundreds of years old! In summary, to say I'd like to return soon to the Kong Arthur Hotel is putting it mildly!

They give you a code and place it in a locked and video-monitored closet down in the basement. It was easy to do and safe for your belongings. After some exploring, I returned to the hotel around 4 PM and finally checked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my single room had been upgraded to a larger room for free. I was stoked to hear that and loved the room and location they gave me. The room was beautifully furnished and was very clean! The only downside is the no AC. The temperature that day was in the low 60s (60-63 degrees). This may sound nice, but it was rather toasty in my room. They had a standing fan that, unfortunately, did not rotate, but it helped somewhat. They give you very heavy-duty duvets that are better for winter weather, but thankfully, I opened some of the windows in my room, which made it more bearable to sleep at night. The staff here was so friendly and accommodating. It's very close to plenty of sights, attractions, and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again. It's a beautifully decorated hotel, with lovely rooms and an excellent location.
