Closed yet again! During normal business hours. Unacceptable.
    Sonya M.

I have come here twice in the past two weeks. Once on a Saturday and now today (Friday) both during normal business hours when they're supposed to be open. I was told by the business (on Yelp) that they are open 7 days 10-3 but I'm standing outside their door at 11am and it's still closed! This time the lights are on, fan is on, but the doors are locked and the Closed sign is on the door. The number on the website leads to some guy's personal number who didn't seem to have any affiliation to this place. He gave me another number to call to reach then and, surprise, no one ever picks up smh. I called 4 times and the number always rolls to voicemail. This is my last week here in HI and was really hoping to visit this place but you really need to make up your mind. Either be open or be closed during the times you set for your business, but don't tell me you're open and then not be everytime I come! What a poor way to run a business.

Nice place to check out when walking around SALT. Think clothing store with a dessert stand inside. Interesting concept, most people probably just come for the snacks. Cotton candy is the draw. However, trying to be Japanese ish, tried the uji matcgmha green pudding with ice cream drizzles with kuromistu syrup with boba. Pudding was smooth and tasted like matcha, however boba was a little hard due to the cold. Also had another version without matcha. Good on a hot day. I think it's worth taking at least a look.

When you drive all the way from Kailua because a craving for Honey Sparkling Vinegar drink hits, you know you're addicted. Urban Island Society is located in SALT. Metered parking and structure parking are options for drivers. The city bus line on Ala Moana Blvd is close, too. The store is small, but cute. There is a variety of branded shirts, Swell bottles, and cute clothing. But the reason why I come here is for their sparkling vinegar drinks. Did I mention that they have a cotton candy topper for your drink? (You can even pick the 3 colors for your cotton candy! The sparkling vinegar drinks have different flavors you can choose from, so you can cater your drink to your taste. I was told that they also serve lemon milk, but I am so in love with their vinegar drink that I will wait to try it. If you are in the area and want a quick pick me up, come here!

Urban Island Society is one of my favorite and unique dessert spots. When you go inside, you'll see cute minimalistic clothes, but you'll also see a counter with a cotton candy machine.Their specialty is their lemon milk drink. I know what you're thinking, and it honestly shocked me too, but after some research, I found out that it was created after World War II in Tochigi, Japan. They have four flavors: matcha, strawberry, blueberry, and mango. I got the strawberry with cotton candy and let me tell you, it tastes like a liquid strawberry cheesecake with a little bit of lemon. The cotton candy is also incredibly fluffy and doesn't taste artificial. For $7. It's worth the price and the experience. They also have the lemon milk without cotton candy and a sparkling vinegar drink. The store itself sells t shirts, bathing suits, sunglasses, etc. Its pretty expensive though.

I love bringing friends who visit Hawaii here bc it reminds me of Japan with the super cute and trendy deserts. The apparel here is very trendy. Makes you wish you could buy up the entire store!

Very confused, I've come to this place twice and they keep saying they aren't making drinks, I keep trying to come here on my free time to grab one,I'm not sure why it's advertised on their Instagram or why they have a sign out front advertising it. Maybe they decide when to make them and when not to? Hopefully soon I get to try it, but hard to keep coming by, especially with the parking at Kakaako. I just feel they should be more consistent with how they offer items, the sign should not be put out in front. The clothing inside seemed really cute, and even liked the hats inside.

I wasn't expecting a clothing store to have such good drinks! I tried the lemon milk matcha drink and it was surprisingly yummy! Tasted like matcha cheesecake. I recommend visiting this place if you love matcha! I can't wait to go back and have another one. The clothes are cute too but out of my price range lol.

If you walk by this store you'd think it's just a retail store but it's not.. Walk in and you'll see it's half boutique and half a mini bar. What's best about their mini bar is it makes drinks with COTTON CANDY ON IT. My fiancé ordered the blueberry lemon milk with boba and I ordered just plain apple juice. Both came with cotton candy on it. The blueberry lemon milk was VERY TASTY. I plan to order that the next time we stop by. We also ordered a boba ice cream with kuromitsu kinako. Basically it's vanilla ice cream, boba, kinako, and a sauce that's like a caramel sauce. It's sooooooo good. Parking - There's a ton of street parking or if you'd prefer there's a parking structure. Urban Island Society is located in the heart of Kakaako in Salt. Very easy to find, a ton of places to get that Instagram worthy photo of your cute cotton candy drink.

Don't let the clothing store fool you - there's a drink station inside the store that can only be described with one word: Extra. Unsure of which drink to try, an employee let me try a sample of their popular strawberry lemon milk. It tasted good so I made the plunge and ordered the strawberry lemon milk with cotton candy. I loved being able to customize the colors of the cotton candy- pink and purple! Finished with an orchid on top, the drink was more photogenic than I'll ever be. The only negative is (and this mistake is totally on me - I have no self control) don't eat the cotton candy first. The ultra sweet sugar taste from the candy will overpower the mellow drink. Drink the drink, then eat the candy.

The area of SALT at KakaaKo is one of the cutest areas. It has something to offer everyone. I really wanted to try Urban Island Society after seeing their drinks online. I wanted to see if a "sparkling vinegar" was as good as they made it look. Well, it is. Not only is it instagrammable but it is delicious. You can choose from various flavors like: ginger, apple, tumeric, etc. I chose the ginger flavor with cotton candy on top of course. While I waited for me drink you can look around and shop some adorable Hawaii logo items. Candles, bracelets, bags, and of course clothes galore. This is a cute place to grab a fancy drink and of course instagram it.

Very cute little shop! Really unique and fun drink idea. It was the first time we had come across a cotton candy topped drink. Super cute drink!

    Greentea lemon milk

Today was the First time I tried green tea lemon milk. I have so many Japanese friends. They said lemon milk is most popular in japan. This one is from kyoto uji. It was awesome. Little bit sweet and creamy. They have another flavor too. Sparkling vinegar and rainbow cottoncandy cups. It looks so cute. I recommend greentea lemon milk!!

I got a FE diaperbag as a gift but had NO IDEA how to use it - it's an older version with the bassinet attachment. It was from an aunty, NWOT, and I don't mind it didn't have tags, or that it's an older version. I've always been the kind of girlie to thrift shop because I'm not a fan of what the clothing industry has done to our planet. This is why we went to FE-Kapolei in the first place: for someone to help us figure out how to use this thing. Read my review for the Kapolei location to know what happens next. Anyways, since that first visit, I visited FE a bunch of times because of their baby clothes. One reason I'm also not a FE person is the prints are too much for me. Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.
