Shopping in Ward Center in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. This shopping complex will be gone soon. Many businesses have cleared out and Noa Noa is one of the last ones still open. I had passed by this batik shop many times in the past, but never went inside. Today, June 21, 2026, was their last day, so I walked in to look around. Note: they won't be receiving more inventory because of the tarrifs, one of the vendors retired, etc. Sally was an excellent sales associate. She knew the fabrics (cotton vs. linen vs. bamboo), the origins of the prints, the styles, etc. Sally briefly explained the intricate process of making batik fabric. Wow... she even showed me a pattern stamp and swatches. She really knew her stuff... because she's worked at Noa Noa for over 13 years! I got a couple of dresses because natural fibers - such as cotton - should be cooler to wear. (I'm perspiring more because it's summer now...) I'll try itvout and get more at their smaller Waikiki shop or their new shop which will be nearby. Yay!

I walked in having no idea where to begin because there's so many beautiful garments to look at. I didn't have a style or color preference, I just knew I wanted to buy something nice. Aya politely asked me a few questions to narrow down the search. She then pointed out some of the different styles in my size. Together, we pulled a few dresses off the rack and Aya led me to a fitting room. Excitedly, I had four lovely dresses to try on. As I was in the fitting room, Aya politely offered information about the different fabrics, the variety of styles and sizes, she even explained the best method for gentle washing. When I came out of the dressing room without "the" dress speaking to me, Aya pointed out another rack that I had not yet browsed. Then BOOM, there it was! The color! The size! The fabric! The style! Winner, winner, Aya helped this beginner :) After trying it on and walking around the store in it, it was done. Mission accomplished thanks to Aya! Love my pretty new dress, Mahalo Aya :)

This was the first store that we were directed to by searching on Yelp. Best recommendation ever!!! So many designs, materials and colors to choose from. Each circular rack were by sizes and there were so many different designs and colors. Our salesperson was very friendly and polite. Dressing rooms are available as well as alterations service for an additional fee. Also, a nice selection of floral accessories are available. Large parking lot.

An organization I am a part of needed matching dresses and hawaiian shirts. We chose the style and material. Everyone just needed to get measured. We got put outfits and I was so happy with the the design. It even had pockets! For a custom made dress it was definitely worth the value. The seamstress has to cut the material then sew and the quality check. That is like 5 to 8 hours of work! I spent extra for pockets, so it was under $195. Ya we could have gone to Macys and picked matching dresses, but honestly the quality and design here will last longer. We have worn our dresses multiple times and have come back for more custom work for years. Overall I love the service and the selection. But most of all, I love that they can do custom designs :)

Clothing and accessories appeared to dominate the main hallway, while housewares, handbag, and fabrics were presented in the back area. I'd forgotten to pack a hat for this trip and might not have had a chance to buy one if I hadn't run across Mori by Art + Flea, after a meeting in the same building. The shop was very cute, with a sort of museum shop aesthetic: clean and colorful with lots of interesting merchandise, much of it made by local small businesses and artists. I didn't have time to do a full browse, but I definitely liked what I saw. There were a few baseball caps available, and I picked a flexible black one with a pink hibiscus patch sewn on the front. I wore it almost every day for the rest of my trip, from Hawaii to the Philippines. The cap made a nice souvenir, and I continue to get use out of it at home. I'm glad Mori appeared when it did. It's a great shop, definitely worth checking out if you're in Honolulu.

I thought that this was a hula supply store? Since I'm here, I should just take a look, right? Browsing the aisles that were filled with all kinds of merchandise like pareo, hair accessories, musical instruments, tube tops, lanyards, check book covers, hula skirts, etc., I found a rack of long mu'umu'u! I was excited to find a pretty lei print on lavender material with purple trim! Perfect! The nice man apologized that there was no dressing room. I estimated the length and width to figure what size to get. He said there's no refund and maybe I can come back for alteration? I think I'll fit! I also saw some coin purses that will make great party favors! I got a bunch and he gave me a discount for bulk purchase! Thank you! Wow... I wasn't expecting anything and this store is really terrific... they even have 100% cotton palaka fabric on bolts! I need to return when I'm ready to sew my next project! Thank you so much!!!

The whole store is made up of Hawaiian themed merchandise. There were jewelry, cards, body care items and tons of clothes. They have some really cute items. My friend purchased a set of plastic flower beads to string together to make a necklace. What caught my eye that I really wanted was the sunrise shell necklace. I've always wanted one. The shell has the pink and yellow colors on it to mimic the sunrise. I'm contemplating on getting it as I've wanted one for a while.

Each time I had to hang my handbag on a hanger with the clothes, since I refuse to put my handbag on the dirty ground. The clothing and jewelry are adorable -- some even look handmade -- and I did buy a few outfits and a cute pair of earrings. Prices are on the higher side, but the pieces are unique and eye-catching, so if you're looking for something different, it might be worth it. Unfortunately, checkout brought the experience down. Since I didn't need a bag, the sales associate handed me my clothes directly, but forgot my earrings. I didn't notice until I was halfway home. I tried looking everywhere for a phone number -- Yelp, the Ala Moana directory, the internet -- and couldn't find one. The only number I found just rang with no answer. So instead of calling, I had no choice but to drive all the way back through traffic. When I arrived, the sales associate saw me, handed me the earring, and said she was "going to text me." No apology, no "sorry for the inconvenience" -- nothing. Considering they have my number from the rewards program sign-up, that was disappointing. Overall, Sugar Sugar is a cute boutique with stylish pieces, but expect boutique pricing and limited dressing room amenities. The service could use improvement, especially when mistakes happen.

I got a FE diaperbag as a gift but had NO IDEA how to use it - it's an older version with the bassinet attachment. It was from an aunty, NWOT, and I don't mind it didn't have tags, or that it's an older version. I've always been the kind of girlie to thrift shop because I'm not a fan of what the clothing industry has done to our planet. This is why we went to FE-Kapolei in the first place: for someone to help us figure out how to use this thing. Read my review for the Kapolei location to know what happens next. Anyways, since that first visit, I visited FE a bunch of times because of their baby clothes. One reason I'm also not a FE person is the prints are too much for me. Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.
