Yellow dress back no damage after 1 washing_photo taken 02-09-19

On 2/7/19 I purchased a beautiful long yellow muumuu (Hawaiian dress) from Rainbow Hawaii store on Maunakea Street. Plumerias and leaves were printed on it with white ink. It was highly starched. I washed it once to get the starch out. After drying, I noticed that the white ink on the front of the muu had disappeared in longitudinal panel patterns and the printing on the back of the muu was fine (see photos). I went back to the store on 2/9/19 requesting the woman clerk several times to see the store owner. She finally gave me his card with his phone number. I called him, telling him of the problem and requested a refund. He claimed and kept insisting that I had used Clorox, and I repeatedly told him that I did not. He said to come back on Monday when he would be at the store. I returned on 2/11/19 with my son. He argued with us, again saying that I should not use Clorox. Again, I told him that I do not use Clorox on my laundry. He refused a refund, pointing to the cash register sign saying "No Refunds, Exchange ONLY", and offered me the $45.00 purple muu that he remembered I had liked but did not purchase. That purple muu had a similar type of white ink imprint and I refused his offer. I had bought this yellow muumuu for $62.00. He told us to call the manufacturer, Trans-Pacific Textiles, Ltd, and to sue them, not him. Surprised at his suggestion, and trying to calm him down, we explained that we were not wanting to sue anyone, just wanting to have them stop selling these inferior quality muu to customers. He said that in his 20 years of business, I am the first and only complaint like this. At that point, he called Trans-Pacific Textiles, and explained my complaint to her, not letting her speak either. He will not refund. We left his store. The label indicates "machine-wash cold-warm". Poly-cotton muumuu are everyday clothing that most locals throw in to their washer and dryer. I am now pursuing refund via my credit card company. Desired Resolution Description (sent to BBB): Communicate to the business owner to uphold quality control of the products he sells to his customers. Intimidation that Im the only complainer in 20 years, and assumptions that I use Clorox in my laundry is not true nor acceptable, and offering a cheaper product exchange of what seems to be the same inferior quality ink in question is inequitable. His prices are inexpensive and enticing, but Mr. Kwong Hoi Chengs business dealings are not pono (right).

Can be on or off the shoulder muumuu. My hula group loved it!

I always find the hairpieces and gifts I am looking for here and the owner or manager is very kind.

They have a wide range of clothing selection. I like how they just put one of each size out and they will replenish it from the back if a size gets sold. It makes it easier to shop when the racks are not overloaded. I lost some weight so I was so happy when their jeans finally fit me. The last time we came, the zipper wouldn't go up. My daughter was helping me zip it up and I felt like I was in the movie White Chicks! Lol. Bought a couple of earrings, a cute bracelet, two tops and a jeans. My daughter went nuts with the jumpers and bought a pair of jeans.. with her own money! Lol! We love this place and we will def be back!

I love how Elena gets to know her customers and always remembers them as they come in. She's super sweet and very helpful. She also has an online shop which gives the option to ship or pick up in store. They have sales on a regular basis and carries good quality clothing & accessories for a reasonable price. I absolutely love shopping there and could not recommend them more highly!

They are on Manaola pricing level and feel like making clients spend money on the only bag option they have.. then don't want to help with anything outside of that. I got a FE diaperbag as a gift but had NO IDEA how to use it - it's an older version with the bassinet attachment. It was from an aunty, NWOT, and I don't mind it didn't have tags, or that it's an older version. I've always been the kind of girlie to thrift shop because I'm not a fan of what the clothing industry has done to our planet. This is why we went to FE-Kapolei in the first place: for someone to help us figure out how to use this thing. Read my review for the Kapolei location to know what happens next. Anyways, since that first visit, I visited FE a bunch of times because of their baby clothes. One reason I'm also not a FE person is the prints are too much for me. Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.

So the QUALITY and WORKMANSHIP is what you are getting from it. Many people ask where I get my clothes. A lot of my favorite pieces are from this place. The quality is worth the money spent. There is only a few places you can get an outfit that will look good, last long and makes you feel good in it. This place is will always be my go to. A lot of the clothing pieces travel well and are versatile. You can look beach ready and dress it up with the right accessories and shoes. Last purchase I made was for a dress item that was too long. They provided alterations so I got the dress and a week later picked it up. It was perfect! Overall, ladies you can't go wrong here. The have flattering tops, pants and dresses. They have some pieces for the family. They even have jewelry to accessorize. They even do alterations.

I normally love the brand and have always enjoyed shopping there. That being said, I was disappointed with the customer service during this past Saturdays visit. I've worked in customer service for almost 20 years, and one of the most basic expectations is simply acknowledging a customer when they walk in whether that's a quick greeting, asking if they need help, or letting them know you're available if they need anything. I was the only customer in the store for more than five minutes, and two employees saw me come in but neither greeted me or approached me the entire time. I don't expect anyone to hover while I shop, but a simple "Hi, welcome in" goes a long way and is just basic customer service. I did end up purchasing something because it was on sale and, like I said, I genuinely like Mahina. I just hope management reminds the sales associates how important it is to acknowledge and welcome customers who take the time to come into the store. A small gesture can make a big difference in the overall shopping experience.
