Had a gift certificate from Cheap Charleys dated 2000. Went to use it recently didn't realize there was an expiration date on it. Charleys wouldn't honor it. I didn't even realize there's expiration dates on gc. Who does that? Wouldn't even help me out for half or anything. Headed on over and was helped by the 2 staff members who were present. I told them what kind of fish I wanted to catch, and they provided me with all the gear I needed to get the job done. They also were nice enough to give me suggestions with the types of baits I could use. Not once did I feel judged for my lack of knowledge. These guys are really friendly and helpful! And everything they suggested I get was reasonably priced. I would definitely come here again as they made me feel very welcomed. I didn't get the impression they were just trying to make a sale either. We've been coming here for years since my fiance got into fishing. The shop is a small shop BUT they pretty much have the best prices on this island. PARKING: Its not really a big parking lot & only have maybe 4-6 parking stalls i believe. Not much & they are always busy when we go. SERVICE: Since the store is pretty small they only let 3 people at a time. Sometimes the wait is a bit long depending on how long people take & if you go on a very hot day its a terrible wait outside. When you get it the workers are seriously amazing. They greet you when you walk in & apologize are the wait. They are also awesome with helping us on any questions we have & shows us what they think would be best to get. My fiance goes crazy in here everytime we go. They are also the only place we go to respool his reels & the prices is the cheapest we know. read more

Super friendly service, Jen the worker was very knowledgeable and informative of rods, reels, hooks and just fishing in general. Her answers isnt one liners, its more of and answer and her opinion as well, very helpful! One thing i like about this place too is the fact that all their rods are below MSRP, which helps to make me feel less guilty when buying one lol. I went in for a certain rod, but after consulting her she steered me towards 4 other rods to compare to, i ended up with a different rod that i had in mind, at a lower price thanks to her. Went there to buy a new pole and spinning reel on January 4, 2025. My husband used it the following Saturday, January 10th and noticed the auto bail wasn't snapping back. So we went back to Charley's not for a REFUND or REPLACEMENT, but just for recommendation on what was wrong with it. The female claiming to be the store manager was less than helpful. No recommendation, just send it back to Daiwa! Mind you, both my husband and son purchased a pole and reel, we spent over $850 on both. We went to a different fishing supply and they knew why the bail wasn't flipping back and explained everything. How can you be a manager and not know basic functions of products you sell? She just blew us off. Terrible customer service for a local business. On a positive note we always get great service with everyone else at Charley's. The workers are extremely knowledgeable and are always willing to share tips, techniques, rigs, baits, and sometimes even locations for whatever species you're hunting. As expected, these braddahs know the ins and outs of what kind of gear you'll need without trying to upsell you on a $700 pole. The prices on frequently used tackle like lead, swivels, hooks, and line are the most AFFORDABLE on Oahu, and I've been to ALL the shops. Good to go check out once in awhile but felt rush knowing had a line outside waiting to get in. Shimano, Daiwa, Penn reels. Open Sat, Sun and this coming Labor Day. Wonderful experience. Got everything we needed! All the help we could ask for. 2hrs later, we got what we needed, learned a lot more, and made a friend. Layton was the guy that helped us. We don't know nothing about fishing. He showed us how to tie our hooks, attach floaters, lead, everything. We took pictures of the Visual aids he showed us on how to set up our lines. We were in there for two hours and bought one pole, extra line for our setup and re-lined our other pole. We bought bags, gear, hooks and knife. I think we got everything, but if not, we will be back! From the time we walked in, we were greeted and received the best customer service we could ask for. Check their IG as they are always posting whats new and sometimes post deals from discounted items to also giveaways! One of the best places to have your reels "Bulk" spooled with mono to various braided line. Beats out lots of other places comparing prices! They have mostly all the poles and reels you're looking for, from local companies to Japan and beyond! From new to the experienced, if you not sure about something don't be afraid to ask thats what they are there for. Heck sometimes i even ask about setups i've never used before. Planned on stopping in and went to grab a coffee across the street first. They had our car towed within 5 minutes. Do what you will with that. They also use the scummiest towing company in Honolulu. VIP towing. By city law they are required to accept card payments and when you call they demand you pay cash only. We can all assume they enjoy dodging taxes, I'll never be back. The worker that winds the reel is very good at giving advice on what things to you for what type of pole. It's in a great location and the parking right in front. Parking is bad over here but the service is amazing! All everyone is friendly and helpful and very attentive to customers needs. They literally stop, drop and roll for you . They did that to me. They were busy stocking and doing some note taking for inventory and seem so busy but they helped me and came out of the counter to help me with my braided line installation. No reviews yet, so I'll describe my limited experience with this store. I think they used to be on Keeamoku St., but probably couldn't compete with all the strip bars over there. What would you rather do, look at naked babes or go fishing? Anyway, I think for the small size of this shop, they have a very good amount and variety of fishing tackle. They usually have monthly specials on different brands of rods and things like that. I got two Shimano rods when they were running their 15% off sale. They also carry GLoomis rods which are the best in the business. Special order rods are no problem and they don't charge extra. Check them out. read more

Being the terrible mother I am, I sent my 5 year old kid on his "lily pond excursion day" without a fishing net. I had seen this specific fishing net (brown handle, burgundy net) at Walgreens for $6.99 a while ago, forgot to pick it up and of course it's all sold out. Logan and I happen to be at Arvo this morning and as we were sitting there, I saw a sign for Charley's Fishing. We went across the street to check this place out hoping it would be open. The place is tight and was very busy, considering it was 930am. We squeezed our way in and while was Logan rambling about wanting to go fishing, I look up and find the magical fishing net that I've gone to a few Walgreens, Longs and Target stores to find. Due to my excitement, I incidentally cut in front of another customer who was kind enough to let me get ahead of him. The worker who helped Logan and I was super sweet and the best part, the net was $4.49! So much happier to have bought from this smaller store than POP, which was my last resort.
