This gym has a very nice community. The staff and members are helpful and friendly. You will get a high energy workout.

I've been going here for a little over half a year now and can't get enough of it. Megan has been great working with me when I started with an injury and frankly barely able to do much, the perfect amount of push and motivation has me in a totally different spot from back in November and I still feel challenged every day. The group as a whole is super supportive. From new folks to obvious veterans they'll all be cheering you to the finish line, screaming great job and keep it up as you push to the end. I never imagined being the guy that woke up excited to see my little gym group, but here I am. From day one I felt welcome and included, and I think that's what makes this space so great. The spin classes with Allie, Amber and Heather have been a great addition for me as well, comparatively to my peloton my Apple Watch always reads a stronger workout with them. I do more classes here than I do home for that reason alone. If I had to find a complaint, it would be that I bought a peloton and haven't cancelled my other traditional gym membership long before hand. read more

I have been wanting to try a spin class FOR EVER, but I have been nervous because I heard people vom after their first few classes or the instructors yell at you, etc. So I have been kind of putting it off but still quite curious. So when I move to Cuseland this month I was looking around for new member deals. & I found $25 unlimited spin class for two weeks at Urban Life Spin. IMO EXCELLENT deal... you have to go twice to make it #worthit. The calendar has a variety of time slots starting at 5 or 6 AM. Being a working girl who loves sleep I would have loved to see a regular evening class. (they do have one class on Wednesdays that starts at 6PM, but the other days are too early because I am still at work. I already paid my $25 so I signed up for a 6AM class - I never thought I would see that day! Despite my love of sleep I showed up to Urban Life Spin at 5:45AM to get signed in & set up for this daunting experience I was about to have. The girl at the front desk was not rude by any means, but she was not sups friendly either. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt because she was probably there long before I even arrived. Nevertheless, she got me signed in, my COMPLIMENTARY spin shoe rental, showed me around, and introduced me to the instructor, who showed me how the complicated spin bikes work... I'm still getting the hang of it. Then before I knew it I was pedaling away for my warm up. The class sizes are small with 21 bikes. The instructors pump up the music & keep the room fairly dark, but turn a few lights on and off throughout the class. Some instructors are not loud enough on the mic so it is difficult to hear the interval instructions. Dan has been my fave instructor thus far. He does an excellent job of projecting his voice and he might even lower the music slightly when giving instructions. I also like that he walks around the room a bit, claps to the beat of the music and gives encouragement. The negative rumors I had in my mind were left in the dust after my first class at Urban Life Spin. I don't have any other spin experiences to compare to, but I felt great after! Except that my sits bones hurt so bad from the seat, but i heard that is normal when you first start spin classes. I'm tempted to bring a pillow to sit on next time! read more

I was in town for business and looked for a good spinning class. I found Urban Life Spin and it looked good so I stopped by to try a 45 minute class. I ran in a bit late and the girl at the front desk took me right in with some shoes and showed me my bike. My instructor, Allison helped get me set up on the bike and I was pedaling right away. What a great class. Allison got me to zone 5 of my heart rate very quickly and kept it there..lol. She made it fun and it was good motivation seeing how I was doing in relation to the others in the class. (I wasn't very good...lol). If you need some good cardio, with a great time and an awesome instructor like Allison, go to Urban Life Spin. I will be going back next time I'm in Syracuse!! read more

This place makes getting up for a 6 am workout a little easier. Everyone that goes there is super friendly and you become part of something bigger than just a gym that people go to. Murph and Dan bring the heat with very challenging workouts and they are not afraid to take you out of your comfort zone to push you!! Not only do the coaches push you to be better but the people you workout with are always cheering you on and encouraging you to just give things a try! I live in NYC and go to Flywheel and other high-end spin studios often, but Urban Life Spin is my favorite studio of all! I dropped in last time I was visiting Syracuse and was extremely impressed with the workout, the facility, and the instructors. I loved the distance goals given by the instructors, and found them a nice change from "go hard for 40 seconds and rest for 20." Having a distance in mind motivated me to push myself harder and get even more from the workout. I wish my local spin studio was more like Urban Life! read more

This review is for my experience at the yelp event on 4/19/15. This was my first experience spinning and I am a consummate cyclist. All I can say is WOW. The trainer, Megan kicked my ass (in a good way). She was really good about telling us where our numbers should be and not to overdo it. I really enjoyed the tag team game that we played which amped me up, feeding my competitive spirit. 35 minutes spinning was more exercise than the 16 miles I rode back & forth to get there. If you are someone who is trying to lose weight, this class will help you reach your goals!!! The only thing that was annoying was where I would put my bike. There was really no place to lock it in the parking lot. So, I brought it with me up the 4 floors to the studio. I'm new to spin and just took my second class here with Megan. I love this place! The studio itself is really nice, clean, and comfortable. I had Dan for my first class and he was great. He showed me how to use the bikes and checked in after class to see if I had a good time. Megan was also wonderful as there were a lot of new students in class and she took time to make sure everyone got settled in and answered any questions. Both classes were so fun (and challenging), but the atmosphere isn't intimidating at all. I definitely plan to buy a package. read more

I love Allison's spin class! Best spin class that I have ever taken. She is super friendly, always remembers everyones' name and makes you feel welcome. She helps you adjust your bike, so it fits properly and explains how to use the monitor on your bike. Her playlists are a great mix of music and her workouts will leave you sweaty and refreshed. I was initially intimidated to try a spin class at Urban Life because I do not do crossfit, but Allison made me feel right at home. I now make her spin classes a regular part of my workout routine! read more
