Urban Lights has the best lighting showroom in Denver. The quantity of fixtures on display for homeowners to see and touch can't be beat and the price range and quality options run the full range. I always work with Joey Burgess when I am working on a client project and she is very helpful and knowledgeable. She also is very willing to have the manufacturer's rep help if there is something particularly unusual. I tell all my clients (and friends) to work with her when they go there. read more

Very disappointing experience at Urban Lights. Customer service in the showroom was terrible. Every step of the process was a cluster. The contractor discount wasn't even enough to take advantage of. Only reason I'm giving two stars is because the selection in the showroom is good, and the guys who work in the back at will call were very pleasant and helpful. My husband and I are building a good sized house in the mountains so you can imagine the amount of lights we were in need of. Walked in and roamed around giving people eye contact ..... no hello or can I help you. Finally went to the counter and literally asked 3 people if they could help me. They just said we'll page Someone and went back to staring at their computers. We waited a good 45 min. Just roaming around and I finally asked a gal at another counter if someone could help us. Her comment was " there's a mask mandate in Denver you know." We are not from Denver, dont have mask mandate in our town and I stood next to a woman purchasing at the counter with no mask. Hmmm? It wasn't the message, it was the way it was delivered SUPER RUDE and put out. I was so pissed we left. Went to Galleria and had excellent service! You know the scene in Pretty Woman where she asked for help in a boutique and they snubbed their nose at her so she spent her big money else where! This is a review on customer service, the lighting choices at Urban Lights are beautiful and that I would highly recommend. We have worked with Urban Lights in the past and had a good experience. Today was not good. Upon walking into the store I felt under minded and mistreated. I was coming in for help with multi lighting for our master bed and bath and while admittedly didn't have direct answers to exactly what we wanted just yet in certain places I was looking to narrow and make clear decisions before leaving. Reading that Alex has over 25 years in customer experience shocks me. He was impatient and appeared frustrated with me. He questioned what I was certain of with my current lighting and eventually left me mid section to go finish an email and let me look around. To that I didn't know what direction in store I should be going to look at other lighting. Enter Marty who could not have been kinder. Thank you Marty for guiding and offering your help. As others have said the selection is amazing and the price range fist almost any budget. However, the customer service is pretty awful. Unless you plan on going in there planning on spending 100K in lights good luck finding any sales rep that is willing to give you the time of day. My wife and I went in on a Thursday afternoon and found a few different lights we liked to replace the one above our dining room table. It took us about 20 minutes to track someone down to ask a few questions and he was visibly annoyed after we told him we were only looking to replace the one light and told us what you see is what you get then walked away when we asked if they came in different colors. While i fully understand these folks most likely get paid on commission his lack of service resulted in us buying a few thousand dollars worth of lights online for more than just our dining room. read more

I believe even the favorable reviews note the negative attitude and poor customer service. We purchased (significant purchase) lighting for a home remodel. The attitude of the salesperson toward us when they couldn't get a fixture we had purchased from them in a timely manner and therefore had to refund us for their (greater than week long wait and still no lights) shortcoming was unbelievable. If all the other lighting had not already been installed we would have returned it all and gone elsewhere. Shop them for ideas and then buy online or elsewhere. read more

"worked" with Amy, horrible!! We have a light fixture and are trying to find lights to work with the existing fixtures. Amy use the words "not real fixture" a "rigged, dangerous" fixture. She was dismissive and on the verge of being out right rude. We than went to Galleria Lighting and explained what we had, we showed pictures to Amy as well, and the staff a Galleria new exactly what we had. in fact had samples on the floor EXACTLY like we had. If Amy was not aware of the fixture type, I understand that, but to be so adamant (rude) that it was not a "real" fixture was unacceptable. It's a fairly large store and they have a variety of things. But there is so much more existing... we were lucky and got a sales person spend 4h with us to browse through catalogs to pick 5 light fixtures. Finally everything got ordered (freaking expensive) and paid. All the pieces came at different time. One piece was not available anymore, but they helped us through their website to pick something similar. They call regularly to tell us if something arrived or is late. There is nothing special about this place. When you walk in, you won't be greeted by a sales person as other reviewers have noted but there are many around so you don't have to go far to find help so that's not a big deal. They have a guy standing out with a sign that says 40% off everything so you are inclined to think they are either going out of business or having a great sale. Once you go inside it just looks like a standard showroom. The selection is decent but they deliberately do not put the manufacturer name or model # on the price tag so you have a harder time comparing price. There selection of modern lighting is not so great. In addition they had 1 Artemide light fixture hanging with a price tag of over $5000. When you look it up online it is around $3k. So they are basically marking everything up and offering a discount. And I'm not even sure if they are an authorized Artemide dealer. Based on other reviews I'm not even sure if they stock any product on-site. Based on the prices and the fact that many items are special ordered with a lead time, They coud just be drop shipping direct from the manufacturer or even from another retailer like lightinguniverse. Bottom line is this place is decent for getting ideas and browsing but you can buy cheaper on-line and if you absolute have to have something and are wiling to pay a premium, this place may or may not have it in stock. We just went to the sales desk, and Robin was amazing. We told her what we wanted style wise and what our price range was and she set us up perfectly, and under budget. First just let me say this place is huge! I never knew there were so many options for lighting. Wow. Also, it was large enough I wasn't having to run the gauntlet with sales-people. Once I needed one, one was found within 30 seconds, and the experience of being greeted warmly, but being able to look around for a few minutes without a chorus of "may I help you?!" was nice. Also, these people had there game ON! I needed some help with deck lighting, as well as some new under cabinet lighting. I was thoroughly schooled in landscape lighting by my salesrep, Jess (?), and good thing. He brought all kinds of potential pitfalls that I had never considered to my attention, as well as steering me into what would not only look the best, but be less maintenance. On under cabinet lights, they have sample displays set up of 3 or 4 different types, and again, I learned plenty, and left feeling confident about my purchase. NOTE: when I got them installed, my wife alsdo made me feel very confident I had made the right purchase--she loved them! Another nice thing about this place: everybody seemed to be having a good time. Salesfolk were making jokes, some at each others expense, but everyone was smiling, laughing. Even the customers. We wandered around for a few minutes just taking in how big the place is. We found a sales person and she was great. We described our space and what we wanted and helped us pick out some lights. All that was great. The part that wasn't as great is their wacky pricing. As many other reviews note they seem to continually run "sales". When were there they had most things 50% off of the listed prices. For two of the three lamps we ordered the discounted prices seemed fair. Where I felt like it was sort of a rip off was the one they ordered for us, that was full price. I want to give a big shout-out to the folks who work in the back of the store. The folks who deliver your purchases to you. I was very intimidated to drop $400 on a kitchen fixture. Janet, a lighting consultant back there at the "parts desk" gave me exactly the kit I needed (and had no idea I needed) to convert a recessed spotlight into a fixture that could handle a hanging fixture. Then, she gave me a referral for an electrician who would do the job right, and at a fair price. The referral was perfect. This whole thing could have been so stressful if I hadn't had Janet taking good care of me. I have mixed feelings about Urban Lights. The show room is gorgeous and filled with beautiful light fixtures. If you can't find what you are looking for at Urban Lights then it doesn't exist. The female salespeople are not friendly and too busy to help. I went in twice both on snowy days when the showroom was empty. Not one person looked up from their screens to ask if I needed any help or even acknowledged me. Thankfully, I went to Will-Call and the wonderful James helped me. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I purchased 2 chandeliers. Unfortunately when my electrician tried to install, one didn't work. I called the store and spoke with the Customer Service Manager Veronica who couldn't have been more awful. She was rude, nasty and showed horrible customer service. After talking to Cheryl (who was pretty unpleasant) and James again, they sent an electrician who determined the light fixture was faulty and fixed it. Clint the electrician was awesome!!! I'm thankful that Urban Lights fixed their mistake and I love my chandeliers. I probably won't shop here again if I have to deal with Veronica, Cheryl or the female sales staff. read more

I am in the process of renovating my new home. It needs everything, including bathroom fixtures, exterior lights, a ceiling light, and I also needed lamps for my bedroom. I had purchased a dining room chandelier last year and was impressed with their selection so this was the first place I visited to shop for my lighting needs, it just so happened that they had a 50% off everything sale that day. Fortunately, for me, I was assisted by Gene who listened, took quite a bit of time looking for the right fixtures and presented several choices within my budget. Urban Lighting has a great in-store selection of lighting to view, plus they have a wide selection of catalogs to see other lights in collections. The prices will seem a bit high at first but they typically always seem to have a sale (like 40% off) which makes them much more competitive. I highly recommend Amber. She was our salesperson. She was kind, patient and extremely knowledge on the products. Best of all, she did not over-sell or push my husband and I outside our budget, which I prefer. read more

I was wandering around for 45 minutes and not ONE person asked if I needed help (which I did) When I finally flagged someone down they seemed put off by my questions. Came in with my family this weekend to shop for one specific item. We weren't accosted by aggressive salespeople which was a nice relief; one friendly woman did intro herself and asked if we had questions (didn't at that time). When we were feeling pretty ready with some ideas, we found Eric sitting at his workspace in our vicinity and he had tons of fantastic questions for us that guided us exactly to what we needed/wanted. He really helped us narrow it down and feel confident in our decision, and provided contact info for someone to install. Eric was also awesome with our two young children. We were prepared to pay full price for the light fixture but were really happy with the 40% Labor Day sale. Agree with other reviews that the showroom is super cool. We had a complicated need for pendants for a sloped ceiling. We ordered the wrong type of pendants for that and a customer service agent basically said we could easily adapt them, but for various reasons we couldn't. We ended up taking them back twice to urban lights in fact. Then I ordered from their website, got a confirmation of my order, and the customer service person i was working with said it would be 2 to 3 weeks. Six weeks later I'm still looking for them and no one bothered to call me. When I sent a request for assistance by email, that person found an incomplete order, supplemented it with some thing on the floor and had it ready same day. So I have to say along with others, I really think your customer service could be stronger. There are other places that sell lights, and they seem way more interested in making sure you get what you need. read more

Then, just when I was starting to feel overwhelmed, my husband suggested that we ask the design team for help. That's when we met Janet and she was AMAZING! She answered our questions and offered great suggestions and actually opened my eyes to some completely new ideas that I absolutely love. I was pleasantly surprised as I have spent countless hours on Pinterest etc. and I thought I had a pretty clear idea of what I was looking for. She asked us to take some measurements and send her additional pictures so that she can help us get the scale just right and figure out the remaining details of our order. The only reason I am giving this store 2 stars was for the show room itself. They have lots to look at including unique ceiling fans. Unfortunately, the staff was very rude and unhelpful. Not one person offered to assist us in the store, or say hello and let us know they would be right with us. After a half hour of waiting we decided to leave. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. The online system is great at charging you and terrible at communicating. There is no confirmation email and no shipping timelines communicated. So, after you order you have to call and hope they can look up your order and if so they will tell you your shipping timelines. But, don't expect that process to be easy. I can only assume the in store process is easier and more clear since you should be able to ask questions to a person. Add to that their voicemail system leaves you thinking you've been hung up on for a minute before you can leave a message. So... all in all their electronic processes are terrible and more headache than relief of being efficient. read more

I have done house projects in four cities over many years, starting when Urban Lights was Foothills Lighting in the 1990s. NEVER have I found a company that provide such consistently good service and good prices. I have just completed our latest renovation in New Mexico, and used Urban Lights for all our needs. Prices were better than anywhere else (including the internet). Changes were never a problem. Returns (when the manufacturer drop-shipped the wrong pieces) were handled fast and at no additional cost. Counter staff always double checked my orders and could not have been more friendly. My sales consultants, Jeff and Rhonda, were responsive and incredibly helpful. I could go on and on. There will never be another place I use for lighting and fixtures, and neither should you. read more

The 40% off sign guy standing outside grabbed my attention, as I started to pull into the parking lot, my wife informed me, "everyone is very rude in here". We are doing a complete remodel, we need a home full of lights and the sheer size of the establishment led me to believe our needs would be met. How rude could they possibly be? As we entered, the gal greeting us was super friendly...again, how rude could they be? As we roamed the store, employees were everywhere...except helping customers. They were on their phones, joking with each other and some just walking around (a moving target is harder to hit), yet none of them were helping customers. We identified some lights that fit the bill for our new living room, I was excited, these were exactly what I wanted...and 40% off, nice! We had very specific wants for sconce lights and UL had small lamps with the shades we wanted and sconce bases that would be perfect if they were together. My thought, buy them both and have exactly what I wanted. All I needed was a store employee to take my order and confirm the shades would work with the sconce lights... How rude could they be? VERY!!! I asked the gal walking by if she could take a look at the lights and see if my plan would work, "why would you want to buy two lights to make one?" After going in circles and she basically told me I was a moron for wasting money on two lights to make one, I lost it. What the f**k do you care? If I want to buy the entire store and bury it in a landfill, that is a victory for Urban Lights you ignorant bag. Rather than leaving with a couple thousand dollars worth of lights, I left with high blood pressure and a voice to let the world know, THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! Fast forward a few hours, I paid full price for the same crap they had...Never underestimate the power of shitty customer service. To start things off when my wife and I walked into this place we were completely ignored (should have walked away then) we had to stand at the counter and ask for help. We then ordered our light fixture and were told 3 weeks. So, 4 weeks later decided to call and ask what was up with order. When I called the sales person said "We are under staffed today and I do not have time to check your order" I was told to call and leave message on voice mail.When I was called back we were told that our order was not even put in until a week ago and that the fixture was back ordered and would not be available for a couple of months.
