I purchased a Nectar mattress from Denver city furniture in late March and was given a delivery…read morewindow of Thursday, April 2 through Sunday, April 5. As such I took Thursday, April 2 off from work to make sure that I was available to receive my order in person once I was notified of the actual day of delivery which they never did. That Thursday I contacted Denver City Furniture to find out the status of the delivery of the mattress to my new location where I was moving. They contacted the shipper, presumably FedEx and they were notified that the mattress had been dropped off on Wednesday, April 1. This means that I took a day of PTO for no reason and my mattress was sitting outside possibly available for porch pirates and I was none the wiser. In attempting to get compensated for the monetary equivalent to my loss of a PTO day, I was given a $100 credit to the store which basically covers one goddamn pillow. Despite my frequent pleas for compensation that at the very least matched the monetary equivalent to my lost day of personal time off, I was stonewalled. This is a slap in the face and the message being sent is that my time my frustration and their lack of ability to effectively communicate logistics is only worth less than half of a day pay for me that I am now out. Suffice to say Ashley furniture, and Denver city furniture will not be getting any additional business from me. To be fair, Mark, the sales guy was a peach. Unfortunately though they'll never get my business again and I will be reporting Ashley furniture to the Better Business Bureau because they suck balls. Of course I contacted Ashley corporate and they were zero help and told me I needed to contact city furniture for any help with this. So in predictable form, one entity is pointing fingers at another entity, saying they need to take care of it. Meaning it's a vortex of lousy service.

Robert held $2,000 hostage for seven weeks for a cabinet that was never coming. Save yourself the headache.

The mattress took 8 weeks and I ended up canceling the bed frame order because the customer service couldn't even tell me how long it would be for the bed frame. The show room manager lied to me and said I would get a refund for the mattress on the phone. I had to call back to the customer service (which is not the show room...) and they let me know that NO refund would be delivered on the mattress once it was delivered (only the shipping fees - which I think were free? who knows - NOT Joybird). Also, I was under a medical condition where I was not able to bring in large furniture on my own. I was "sold" that all the items would be "white glove delivered". They are not, the mattress was delivered by Fed Ex and I had to move in the very heavy mattress on my own. I will not ever shop here again.

I reached out to Craig who, in the past, has offered the possibility of returns, but suddenly changed his philosophy with his online client base and has basically told me I'm stuck with this item. I was genuinely surprised and dismayed, as the 1) listing is unreliable, 2) online customers do not have the advantage of seeing an item in person, and 3) I would have been able return this item with Wayfair. Silly me for thinking on principle here, as this same courtesy has not been extended by the owner. I now have to pursue a chargeback for this item that has tied up my funds for three months and was an avoidable disappointment. After three years and several purchases with Mod Livin, this will be my last.

We had just purchased a new home and were remodeling our kitchen and dining room areas. Urban Lights was recommended to us for our lighting needs. To be honest, I was completely overwhelmed when I arrived at the huge showroom (I don't shop at department stores or eat at the Cheesecake Factory!). Before I could run out, I was kindly greeted by Michael Cortez. I began to clumsily describe the style (I don't watch enough HGTV to know the lingo) we had in mind for the pendants that would hang over our new kitchen island and the overall theme we were going for. Very quickly, Michael grabbed a catalog that was full of exactly the style of pendant we wanted and explained our options in size, features, pricing, etc. He nailed it! When we mentioned that we were also looking for a dining room chandelier, Michael intuitively took us to a beautiful piece that integrated the style we had described with the furniture we said that we had. It was not something I would have thought of, yet fit the overall decor perfectly! On top of it all, his recommendations fit perfectly in to our budget with even a little room to spare! I obviously can't speak to some of the other negative experiences referenced on yelp, but am glad that we chose to go in to the showroom, and more than satisfied with our experience there! read more

In response to the previous review, dated 1-25-11, yes, that experience certainly left something to be disired. However, as a NEW company (opened around Dec 1) we certainly had many kinks to work out, including initially being somewhat under-staffed, having a Point-of-Sale system that quickly proved to be inappropriate for our requirements, etc. Staffing is no longer a problem. The POS system we had was replaced a week before this customer came in (which probably attributed to the experience--information then being in two places, the old AND the new systems. Trouble.), and is now a very strong, very customer based system. This is a 20,000 sq/ft showroom, the largest between Chicago and LA. The staff reads like a Who's Who of lighting in Colorado, with over 200 years of combined experience between the 10 or so Lighting Designers. The owner has previously owned and run a very large and very successful Showroom for over 30 years, and has now gone back into business with this latest venture, Urban Lights. And even though we were open only 5 weeks in 2010, we were the recipient of the "Most Significant Accomplishment--Showroom of the Year " award from Residential Lighting Magazine, the banner of the industry. This really is a fine place to shop, design, and buy lighting. read more

A few years ago I was introduced to Urban Lights and have made it my go to store for light fixtures. I was very impressed with the variety and selection of light fixtures to suit any style from the best manufactures. I also like that the showroom is always being updated, with new things to see when I bring in my clients. The staff is extremely helpful and have always been very attentive in helping me find exactly what I am looking for in any budget. The customer service is fantastic as I order many of my fixtures from catologue's or online and they always help me track, and resolve any issue that might arise promptly. They have the best prices compared to other stores that carry high end fixtures. I have developed a great working relationship with the staff at Urban Lights and see myself continuing to work with them as long as I am an Interior & Architectural Designer. read more

She provided excellent research guidance in locating the best chandeliers (from catalogues and samples) for our foyer, dining room and main staircase. Greatly appreciated was her adeptness in the coordination with the manufacturers, her tenacity in finding timely solutions to back-order problems, and for keeping us informed throughout the process. very poor customer treatment.. sales person ( woman ) acted as if i was an alien visiting from another planet. acted like they gods gift to lighting sales. little did she know. many of my customers were, have gone there. most have bad review. can honestly see why foothills went out of business. urban i feel on same track. the people i work with and future customers all getting recommendation to shop other lighting companies. because of very unfriendly, unhelpful, poor customer service. etc.etc. i have sent many to galleria lighting. all had positive relations there... sad a few can cause a company to have problems. lose customers.... go there? good luck. i would never shop there again. read more

What a wonderful concept for a lighting store! Fixtures are arranged by style preference, as opposed to being bombarded by every type of light fixture! While shopping, you can appreciate each light fixture's unique design! Bravo! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Particular mention to Cheryl Gagin. She has probably forgotten more than any lighting "expert" at Home Depot. Cheryl is very patient and innovative. I found them to be quite responsive and helpful. We found a set of tall chairs that have a table in the center that can be removed if you prefer. What else is cool about it is all the different colors you can get, and it is made of all recycled plastic bottles (except the screws of course). We decided on a set of colors and decided to order it. Of course when you select anything other than the one that is displayed on the floor it is a special order, ours should be 4-6 weeks. As we were working on the order we discovered the lady helping us was in fact the owner. No wonder she was so knowledgeable. We had a great conversation with her, she was very cordial. If you can afford top of the line and want lots of options (and I think they offer a design consultant), I would recommend checking them out.
