I have been going to this salon for years and have been very happy with my mani and pedis.

I'm not gonnna hold yall. Gonna be real with yall. So my nails I'm a little particular about because it's my hands they gotta be set. My toes I feel like are simple- scrub, cut the dead, then paint. I don't know what it was but like yall I do not like the paint job. It looks like there was maybe too much polish on the brush so it's kinda bulky towards the root of the toe. Like this thick polish. I looked down when she was done and immediately was like wait why my feet look like that? The paint job is just idk, sloppy. Idk I just didn't like it. I mentioned it and she was super super nice and like buffed them and painted on top but fr probably shoulda been taken OFF and redone. I told her I know the polish is gonna start chipping because it's too thick... and even when she tried to buff and redo I knew the job should have been started over. I just didn't have the time or patience and it's intro to the summer so they see done enough for my flip flops and maybe it's just that stylist and not the salon but it was my first time and never going back. But! They do serve some wine and even though I think my tech was questioning my age for way too long bc I guess ASKED for the wine and maybe seemed to young and pressed but I mean no one offered so yeah... Good massage chairs, they have "happy hour" prices where they knock some dollars off. Like my service was solid but I truly just don't like the pedicure I received and I don't feel like my standards are high lol. Three days into my pedicure per my estimate the toenails started peeling and looking a hot messssss. read more

I like that you're able to schedule appointments online and that if you have an appointment, you don't have to wait, which happens at a lot of other local nail salons! I'm new to the area and decided it was time for a pedicure; thought I'd give Urban Lounge a try. I made an appointment for 6 pm on a Thursday. I arrived, they got me seated within 5 minutes, and it took another 20 minutes to have someone available to start the service. I did the champagne and rose pedicure. My feet looked okay and the polish looked good. The place is cute, clean, and bright. The smell of chemical is strong so I'd recommend wearing a mask. A convenient place to go if you're in a bind but I will try out a few other salons to find my "spot." read more

Clean, upscale-ish boutique salon conveniently on H St. Lots of color options. I came as a walk-in, an hour before closing on a Sunday and they took me within ten minutes. Classic Mani/pedi, the lady that did my pedi did just fine. The man that did my manicure rushed it and did not paint the full nail bed. There is a huge gap between the base of my nail and where he started painting. It looks like my manicure is a week old minutes after getting my nails done at this salon. This is my 2nd time coming here and I will actively be trying to find a better place with more consistent work quality. But this place will do in a pinch. read more

This nail salon is in my neighborhood and my go-to place for a mani/pedi. After visiting a few times to figure out which tech was right for me I've realized Yuna is the best for what I need. I typically do gel mani and regular pedi and she always does a great job; she's efficient but doesn't make me feel rushed and the quality is always good. On a few occasions, I've gotten acrylics and she's done a design for me. She did especially great on a set I got with a complicated design and that's when I decided she'd be my go-to person. Wendy did the acrylics and Yuna did the design. I'm giving 4 stars because there are occasions when I have to see another tech and the quality isn't always as good. read more

Tried this place for the first time and got a basic gel mani and gel pedi. Total was $90 before tip (which is paid to your tech directly with cash, Venmo, or CashApp). I'm really pleased with the work! I bite my fingernails and this was my first mani/pedi since before the pandemic, so there was a lot of general nail and cuticle maintenance to do. Thao was patient and had a great eye for detail when handling both of my services. Previous reviews had me concerned, but I was treated very politely and respectfully throughout my visit. Seems like they may have learned from the critical feedback. I'll definitely be back to try some more adventurous nail styles and designs now that I know what to expect. read more

This establishment has piss poor customer service. The only friendly face was the one guy with the first name that starts with M. I booked 3 services. Left with 1.5 being done. The pedicure was horrible. I left with my feet flaky and dry. My full set is not the worst, but the customer service was unprofessional. The lady with all the roman numerals tattooed on her forearm was the most distracted, nonchalant, and lazy person I've experienced for any service in years. She had no alacrity about doing her job BUT was ready to stop and gossip and eat in front of me. She constantly paused for long periods of time to talk with her colleagues, but vague and pretty much non-responsive when I made a request or asked a question about my nails. The girl at the receptionist desk was too busy to pay attention to any of the crowd of people who walked in and walked out( perhaps because of her lack of service) -- she was too busy trying to eat FunYuns at the front. What is the deal with eating while working at this place? Please, take a 15-minute break the proper way -- neither the mask nor the acetone could cover up the smell of funky , onion flavored corn chips. The pros: this is a relatively new salon so the place is pretty clean, nice massage chairs, everyone was wearing masks and was socially distanced, and you can make an appointment online. Cons: 1. Fox News playing on a tv ugh. 2. My nail technician half-assed my spa pedicure and barely spent any time on shaping my nails, exfoliation and massage. It was really disappointing for the price. 3. She cut my fingernails super short during my manicure (I said to cut only a very little) and I don't think she waited enough between coats because the polish has all these little bubbles now. I didn't notice it until I left but there's a little tiny hair or maybe a crack in the paint on my index finger. I hate when I go to a place and ask for a regular manicure and they keep trying to upswell me on gel or sns- and then it seems like she barely put any effort into it. 4. No one has their license posted anywhere, it made me wonder if my technician even had one! My friend has been and likes this place so I think the experience really depends on who does your nails. read more

The neighborhood waited a long time for a new spa to open, especially with the pandemic delays. I know they have another location, and I'm very happy they were finally able to open in the East Capital Hill area. I'm giving them 4 stars because I think they have a lot of promise. I want everyone in the neighborhood to support them and challenge them to up their game just a little. Having more experienced nail techs available would really help. I've had very mixed results and strongly recommend Tuan. They definitely follow pandemic protocols and have installed plexiglass dividers in the pedicure and manicure areas. Things are fairly clean, especially since they're still new, but I don't know how long that will last. I recommend Tuan as the best manicurist. He spent almost two hours on designing my holiday manicure based on an Instagram photo I showed him. The results were awesome even though it was clear he'd never done that sort of design before. He convinced me to switch from dip to acrylic which I guess was the best way to get the results I wanted. Not a big fan of acrylics, but will stick with that for a while. I'm heading there today for a fill and something for NYE, even though I'll be staying home. So, check out the photos to see Tuan's great work, and know it's been three weeks since I got the mani. I don't recommend their online appointment system. You can't choose the nail tech you want and, even though I had an appointment, I still had to wait about 20 minutes. And then, during my mani, I waited at various times for my nail tech to work on another client at the same time. Not cool. I really want them to improve and I'm going to continue supporting them, offering advice (gently and respectfully) and giving them an opportunity to get better and better. read more

I've been here maybe 5 or 6 times and the service really depends on who you get. I've gotten really great pedicures here before, but recently I got a gel nail polish removal here that damaged my nails. The nail tech removed the gel nail polish from my natural nails with an e-file. I don't get my nails done often enough to know that removing gel entirely from a natural nail is a red flag. My nails are roughed up from the e-file and the nail tech actually filed down my nail bed - so the new nail growing in is healthy and is also higher than the old, damaged nails. I'm annoyed because it will take months and months for my nails to return to normal. So, I wouldn't necessarily write this place off entirely, but you'll need to have some knowledge of what is and isn't good for nails before you go in. And your experience will vary a lot based on who your tech is. read more

I usually go to another salon (across town in Dupont) but because of some overgrown SNS nails-- and a very booked regular technician-- I decided to look for something in the neighborhood. I was excited to see it was easy to make a same-day online apportionment on a Sunday and I went in for an SNS manicure and regular pedicure. Anna did an awesome job, and she was very gentle with my nails, especially considering I had a broken index nail that was sensitive and causing me some grief. I drove past this nail salon and decided to give it a try since it's so close to other businesses I frequent. It's also in a good location because I can always find free street parking nearby. I've been twice now - once with an appointment and once just as a walk-in. I was able to see someone right away both times, which is great. The salon itself is very clean, bright and well-kept. The techs I've had are pretty friendly and accommodating. I typically just have a regular pedicure and/or manicure, and the prices are good. The polish has lasted for a good amount of time too, especially considering I haven't tried gel here yet. The only thing that's strange is that last time, I had a little indentation across my nails. Even after taking the polish off it was there and took a bit of buffing over a week or so to go away. I didn't notice the tech doing anything too rough, but just something I'll ask about next time. Not a huge fan of this place, and I'm glad to see some other nail shops opening up on H street. This last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. I showed up early for my appointment and it's common to walk in to just stares....no greeting or welcome. I'm rushed to pick a nail color while the tech hovers behind me, and she doesn't say a word to me my entire service, except to bark at me to "wash hands, no soap,"which I normally don't care, but it's slightly irritating/rude when she talks to her colleague the entire time. This is definitely a backup salon, but still on the search for something that feels worth spending my hard earned money. read more

Nothing too fancy and they do try and get you to upcharge for eyebrows, full set, etc. I just said no, but I know that can be uncomfortable for others. I went in for a simple gel pedi and acrylic fill in - same color on my hands & feet and no designs. It was about an hour or so before closing and one nail tech worked separately on my pedi and the other worked on my mani as I sat in the pedi chair. I've had services done like this before and I typically don't mind as this can be a fairly efficient way to get both services done quickly. However, my fill in was done haphazardly, was super uncomfortable, and left me with one hand where the top coat gel had barely dried before the nail tech wrapped up the service. Later I noticed one hand even appeared to have a more matte finish while the other had a shiny top coat. Ultimately I used a top coat from home to get the matte nails to match the other hand and I will not be back to this salon. I found the service to be subpar and the atmosphere was chaotic, loud and unwelcoming. UPDATE - updating this to add that my gel pedicure is already peeling off. It's Wednesday morning and I got my pedicure here on Friday night (barely 5 days). Again, get services here at your own risk. read more

Went here off a recommendation from a friend and regretted it. The prices on their website are not accurate. The first time I went, I left with three fingers bleeding. I got acrylics and they drilled into my skin. The painting was lazy; the polish isn't even and you can see the splotches. Against my better judgement and for convenience, I went to get my acrylics filled in and they left me with the thickest layer of acrylic over my nail I've ever seen! And the tips aren't even painted over. They just look splotchy and clunky. Never going back here. read more

I'm really surprised by the rating of this place. It quickly became my DC nail spot, especially during the summer when I get more designs. Many of the technicians are great with designs, I went faithfully every two weeks and never had an issue. I only stopped going because I moved to Alexandria and hate driving in DC, I used to live walking distance from the salon. I've given them enough tries to know that I'm completely disappointed with my services that I have received. not only have they made me feel as though what I'm asking for, even though it's simple, is too much to ask for, the customer service every single time has been terrible down to even realizing that to Nail Tech's were talking about me while I was getting my service done. My last visit was a soak off and I was supposed to get an organic manicure. I was soaking in acetone for 45 minutes and nobody checked on me once until I asked another Nail Tech if I was going to be done soon and I had to forfeit my manicure, because they ran over my appointment time. It's extremely disappointing because I've had quite a few recommendations to come here and it's conveniently located 5 minutes from my house. Also, an appointment is required but they took all the nail techs who do acrylic off the website for online booking, and you have to call the salon to book with them, but that defeats the purpose of online booking. Also, I have booked my appointments online with a nail tech I was stating to feel comfortable with, only for it to be a different nail tech servicing me. The place is cute, but not worth it. Color selection is also disappointing. Most of the nail techs are dressed in designer clothing, shoes, or jewelry; seems like that's what's more important than the service that's being provided, in my opinion. read more

I absolutely adored coming to this salon as Van was an amazing nail technician! Van grew my natural nails to a beautiful length, always made me feel comfortable, and never had another client in her chair on my appointment day. Her sister Cassie started doing my nails when she left and for the most part did a good job. One day Cassie was busy during my scheduled appointment and Anna was available. She was the next best person to Van as she does the perfect almond shape on my naturally long nails and is fast. Today I had an appointment (it's Saturday) for 430pm with Anna. I arrived at 4:31pm (it was raining like crazy) to find Anna with another client. Annoyed I thought ok I'll just wait maybe she's running behind. I quickly found out that she just started! Huh?! Whyyyyyyyyyy?!!! Like they don't take appointments by phone, walk-ins on a Saturday is blasphemy, so why did they take another person when she had an appointment book for that spot? I'm so annoyed with the lack of customer service these days especially to a regular customer who generously tips! Like ever since Van left I haven't felt the same coming here but because it's nearby and they have a nice selection of colors I choose to come back monthly. I'd really like for Urban Nail Lounge to do a better job at managing their books and trying to recognize their regular customers! On the I walk in I could already feel the tension between the receptionist and one of the nail tech. And she said loud and clear "I DON'T WORK FOR YOU"( like 2 times)I was in shock because they clearly don't know what professionalism means... It was awkward and shocking to see. The quality of work performed by the male nail tech was mediocre. I paid an extra $40 for gel nail polish, which could not hold up to 4-6 days. The atmosphere was very off. I watched other nail techs nonchalantly side-eye other patrons. I felt rushed to decide on my nail color before the service began. He was really rough when using the tools (pricked me twice) and very delicate when scrubing my feet. The male nail tech seemed to have a lot of excuses as to why he could not do my nails as I asked (I even showed a picture where a previous tech did gel/design on short nails no acrylics). He told me it was not possible unless I got "long nails." So, for $20 extra dollars, he inadequately painted my nails (sides of nails left unpainted and did not come close to the cuticle). Within 2-3 days you would have thought I had my nails done for at least one week. Also, I felt slightly offended when the tech kept reiterating (2-3 times) the extra $20 for designs. He proceeded to draw a raggedy line across one nail and that confirmed to me he didn't care or was truly inexperienced. In my personal opinion, he was a very inexperienced nail tech that was lazy and lacked proper service for patron's requests. I was not trusting in the male nail tech's process and the outcome of my opinions (and nails) reflect just that. read more

If I could give this salon more than 5 stars I would! I usually don't write Yelp reviews but this place absolutely deserves one. I moved to DC around 3yrs ago and have been testing out diff nail salons but could never find one I liked enough to stick to (all of them have been mediocre, service/quality/employees etc). I was lucky to have found this newly opened one this past month so I thought I'd give it a shot. This salon by far has exceeded my expectations. The setting is upscale/modern, clean, and open with no heavy fumes. They serviced me quickly even though I was a walk in and they even offer complimentary drinks like wine which is a plus. Not only do they have endless colors to choose from, they even care for sanitation when it comes to soaking feet and hands. I got nail extensions and treated myself to one of their spa pedis (which was heaven) and my nails literally look picture perfect. The 2 people that serviced me were super nice and friendly of course. All in all this will def. be my go-to salon! Keep up the good work! read more

Now the really good technicians seems to have left; leaving a group of Untrained, in certain techniques, group of nail technicians. For the first appointment she was twenty minutes late and despite the website saying ombré fills are $50 dollars the total was $100. For the second appointment the woman at the front told me the person who could do my fill wouldn't be there for another thirty minutes. I had to reschedule for 3 PM because i could not wait. Then she rushed to find another man 10 minutes later. Ultimately, they cannot keep up with the appointment system. I've gone here several times and the level of service is inconsistent but mostly poor. I usually get a basic or gel pedicure. This is done with no effort or care. Every step along the way is done with half effort. Barely scrubbing the bottom of my feet, cutting my nails different lengthens, not filing to even out or shape them. No care for my cuticles at all. No cleaning under my nails. To say I'd have done a better job at home is a huge understatement. I've been here twice and both times I was impressed with how long my gel mani lasted. I wish I could remember the name of the mail tech I had last time because it's been three weeks and if my nails hadn't grown so much, they would still look perfect. No chipping or peeling. I also like the general vibe in the salon, it's bright and clean and the prices are fair. I also like that they offer you champagne....that never hurts! If I had to fault this place it would be that they can never start my friend and I at the same time, so one of us is always waiting. I went in to get my nails done for a wedding- I don't usually ever get my nails done so I was just going along with what the nail tech was doing. I got a dip powder nails. And while they turned out looking good, they did not push back or trim my cuticles before applying the nails. So now I have brand new nails that I paid $70 for that don't sit as far back as they should and it looks tacky and grown out even though I got them done two days ago.
