Excellent neighborhood gym. I was in town for two months and I'm really pleased I stayed right around the corner. Always clean, hardly ever busy, towels provided (they were always plentiful) and sign-up was all done online after which, 30 mins later, I had a code emailed to me to start enjoying the facilities. Have been so desperate for a decent workout that I impulsively committed to this gym (conveniently super close to my house) and I can safely say it was a great decision. Amidst this difficult time, I'm so happy that this gym prioritizes cleanliness over anything. They are definitely adhering to social distancing guidelines and taking preventatives measures for everyone's safety. Paper towels and surface cleaner spray bottles are readily available after the usage of each machine and often I'll see the business owners come in to sanitize every surface. Aside from that, it is so refreshing to have access to such new equipment. It truly makes it feel like it's worth my money. (P.S. - I've never used a machine that can do both hip abductions AND adductions!!) Initially I thought the space would be too small for me, it's much smaller than what I'm used to, but having used it consistently it really hasn't been much of an issue, surprisingly. Fantastic Gym! I really enjoy workout at this gym. Ever since Covid, I have been noticing how clean certain establishments are, and gyms are know to be very dirty... not this one!! Never been a member of such a clean gym. Sanitization is very apparent here, and always very clean! The gym layout is awesome. At first I was worried about the size of this gym, as I am used to big box gyms, but you can really get your workout done here! All the machines are new, and really enjoy the turf fields. This is a nice gym. It's well maintained. The owner cares about the appearance and how the place is run. The place states that it is unstaffed, however the owner is usually onsite during daylight hours and assists patrons when asked directly. And the owner is charismatic when interacting with people. Pros: It's way cleaner than any of the other gyms in the area, unquestionably. During the midafternoon, the equipment is available for use. Pricing is uncomplicated. People stay to themselves. Cons: There's the occasional loud cellphone user and equipment hog. A new rule for wearing shoes at all times was posted. I have some hip alignment issues and this rule wasn't sustainable for me. read more

I have nothing but the best of words to use to describe this gym and their owners. This gym is not only hands down the most CLEAN one in Seattle, but one of the most comfortable ones to be a member of and to use regularly. Parking here is no problem, and there are lockers here to use. No lock? This place has cameras everywhere and requires a code, tied to members to get in. Your belongings are going nowhere. The owners are incredibly friendly and are always willing to guide you and provide you with tips to fix your exercises while properly executing them. The owners are educated in this science and can always give you assistance with your lacking areas. Before I came in, I had a shoulder injury/pain that I've had for about a decade. Chris M. gave me his thoughts and told me of some physical therapy movements and exercises that he knew of that can remedy it. PAIN GONE!!! He also helped me to hit a PR of 365 bench here so he's got plans for everyone. He comes with a realistic approach and allows you to work at your own pace, safely. In the end, I would recommend any and all of my friends to come here (and I have). Come check it out and try for yourself. You'll love the environment here. read more

I have had to pause/ cancel a few times over the last few years since I get out if the habit of going to a gym and they respond same day to my email. Small yet has the most of the essential equipment and gear to get a diversity of workouts in. It's always clean plus offers towels for both personal and equipment cleaning. I do a lot of weightlifting so a great plus is that there's one bench and three squat racks, two having platforms for deadlifts. First the price and location caught my interest but the ease, flexibility of membership options and features kept me locked in when I moved out of the neighborhood. This is exactly the type of place you want to move into your neighborhood. Urban Playground is clean, the equipment is new, and the owners are terrific. I see one of the three owners about a third of the time that I am there, and they are always welcoming. They give me the space to do my routine, but if I ask, they are always happy to jump in and provide expert advice on proper form or another exercise. I haven't yet taken a class, but based on my one-on-one interactions, I'd expect the classes (all free) to be very good. Also, the cost is the best in the area. Urban playground is a great small and low traffic gym for those that have their own routine or plan. They have the right machines, cardio equipment and free weights for you to get your body moving in a lot of different ways. And best of all, during Covid, they are maintain a tight cleaning schedule, offer masks, make sure their customers are masked and require vaccination. read more

Great local gym. Moved back in Spring 2021 and wanted to find easy gym that had a mix of equipment including racks for my husband and I. The owners have been very easy to work with. Have own code to enter, always clean and other members are respectful/nice. Has good selection of free weights and areas with turf to do functional movements/HIIT/stretch. Great little gym on Beacon Hill. Convenient hours and love the fact that you can let yourself in any time. It was always clean, plenty of towels and supplies to wipe down machines. I never had to wait for anything. Decent selection of weight machines and cardio, but not as much as a full sized gym. I joined knowing it would be short-term while the West Seattle Bridge is closed, I feel it's a bit expensive compared to the larger facilities where there are a lot more machines to choose from. However, I could walk to Uprban Playground from my house so that alone was worth the price. Very nice people, highly recommend if you're looking for a nice neighborhood gym. read more

I really enjoy this neighborhood gym. Always clean. Small and intimate, but I never really see it crowded at the times I go. Personal trainers available (I looked into it, but didn't actually work with any). Parking is ample around the area. My partner and I are very happy we found a gym close to home. Not only that it's convenient but really the owner makes it worth every penny and more. He's very knowledgeable, helpful, and has really great advice. Whenever I went in the evenings, there was always space and equipment open, never felt overcrowded. Honestly it's a great small gym. Sadly they just don't have enough equipment for me to stay. If you are just looking for a neighborhood gym to get a work out in this is a perfect place. If you are looking for a gym with calf raise machines, hack squats, leg extensions, different row variation machines, different chest press variations machines then this is not the right gym. Overall, the gym was always clean, usually fairly empty, it's a great gym. They should consider having it 24/7, as many code or fob access gyms are 24/7. read more

Great gym--all brand new equipment and super clean. I love that I can simply enter my passcode to access the gym 7 days a week, anytime between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM. There is some parking in the garage and lots on the street, so super easy to get in and out. I joined back when they opened in February, but didn't get into it until I started with one of the personal trainers (Dave). We are three personal training sessions in and I am hooked! I lost my confidence over the years, along with my fitness. Dave works me through our session with the right level of push and patience. They also have classes that look challenging and fun. If you are anywhere near Beacon Hill, Columbia City, Georgetown, etc., you should check out this gym. New, clean, modern equipment; low key, quiet and has all you need from new-to-gym and iron addicts. read more
